With a Typhoon to deal with which made the transfer to the ship difficult, a missed first port due to logistical issues we still will say that this cruise became one of the best we have ever experienced! The captain and the crew pulled out all stops to make it so. Their friendly visibility, extra cocktail party put on by the captain went a long way to creating an enjoyable atmosphere, thank you Captain Arma. Our dining experience was perfect and we dined at sabatini and the Japanese restaurant and both were very impressive in service and quality of food almost to a level of very fine dining category, the cocktail party was fun and very enjoyable we have been to many of these parties but this one was special and the captain and his executive officers made the difference Chris and Trent were very friendly and courteous, thanks for your wonderful company. Who would not want to experience seeing South Korea, Japan and its islands? After staying 3 nights in Tokyo we boarded the ship, and were treated to the best attention possible. The cabin was spacious, and beautifully appointed. Our cabin steward PATRICIO was always on hand, and the cabin was well cleaned and towels changed twice a day! The ship itself is delightful in all areas especially the Atrium where we experienced the fantastic electric violins of THE ANGELS, and on another occasion enjoying the incredibly talented opera singer NOHORA HIROKO. Despite having more than 2,000 guests on board, we were always able to find a quiet spot to hide away, at the appropriately named `The Sanctuary` The Breakfast Buffet was excellent, and meant that we only needed a snack for lunch - i recommend the Diamond Princess Special Pizza. Dinner was exceptional both in choice, quality and variety, with superb service from waiters JEREMIAH and RIEL each of whom made us feel so special. There were far too many activities etc. for us to contemplate, as we had amazing tours to take at each port of call - BUSAN, SAKAIMINATO, TSURUGA, AKITA and KAMIKURO. As the ship berthed, there were always Japanese personnel there to welcome, entertain and give gifts! Don`t think about it, BOOK IT NOW! Read Less

Returned yesterday from a Tokyo to Honolulu segment on Symphony. Overall, would rate this ship and the crew as excellent. We chose this cruise for a couple of reasons. First, we love sea days and it doesn't get any better than this. Second, we live in Honolulu and wanted the opportunity to leave the ship and be home in 10 minutes by cab. We have previously cruised on Silversea and Seabourn. I would give the Symphony a slight edge. It is a larger ship with more dining options and much better entertainment. Also, I found the crew to be a bit warmer and made us feel more comfortable. We opted for Dining by Reservation. It worked out for us very well. Found a table we liked with a great waiter. I would rate the food a little below Seabourn but not my much. The alternative dining options were very pleasant. Al-in-all a terrific cruise. Read Less
