We`re just back from our Cruise on the Majesty Ship on the 3rd of October. We decided to go on a cruise as it was my 50th Birthday and also our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I have to say everything was first class. when we arrived we where on deck 9 and we had Champagne and chocolate strawberries waiting in our cabin for us. That was the start of our wonderful holiday and from then on we couldn't have asked for anything better. We found the crew to be very accommodating and helpful especially Gerald, Sam and Ronnie in the dining room and Stacey in the Bar area. They where sooo pleasant and helpful. As was Lorreee who cleaned our cabin for us day and evening and she was very thorough. The entertainment was brilliant and something different every night to suit everyone. The house band "Game of Tones" were very good and the girl singing was such a happy/pleasant little lady and really did her best to get everyone to join in and get involved, as did the whole entertainment team. The food was really lovely and there was enough choice to suit all. We have been on a few other cruises with different cruise companies and i must say that our Thomson Cruise is definitely up there with the best of them. If i had one complaint to make it would be that the dining room and the Jubilee Theatre are very, very warm and that they should maybe consider turning the air-con up a little bit. Other than that we would definitely give a big thumbs up to The Majesty and Thomson Cruises. So much so that we are already looking for another Cruise with Thomson next year. :-)) Read Less

This was our first cruise and we absolutely loved every moment. The food, cabin, excursions, ship and mostly the crew were great. This ship apparently is one of the older ones, but I thought it was just lovely. We went on 2 arranged excursions (Pompei and Rome in a day), both of which were amazing. We weren't sure if a cruise would be "our thing", but we definately have the bug now. You can dress up or down in the evenings, it really is your choice and what ever you decide, you wont feel out of place. We didn't go on the very formal night, it just isn't for us, but we did dress up and have a treat in one of the restaurants. The entertainment was first class, with a selection of bars with waiter service. Everything from first day boarding to leaving the ship was done smoothly with no hassle at all. We booked the drinks package, which was well worth it and cheaper I believe if its booked whilst booking the holiday. I cant wait to go with Thomson again. Read Less

The reason we chose this cruise was because we watched presenter of pointless do a special on Rome, Portillo do Spain and Soller on Majorca, and Alex Polizzi do review of Amalfi coast. The cruise we went on was two weeks and would let us visit everywhere we had seen on telly- first week to Sicily, Sorrento/Pompeii, Rome, Corsica, Menorca, and also southerns Spain and Casablanca. The ship is old but is constantly being touched up and cleaned, Service was flawless and have to take my hat off to every one of the ship crew and staff. Food was great and the excursions helped us get the most out of the trip. It felt like we visited every wonder of the world by the time we got back. We had the drinks package arranged before we went away and service was friendly and helpful throughout. The atmosphere on the party nights and entertainment was great and was jumping every night with a great feel amongst the passengers. Guides on the trips were great and although the excursions seemed expensive - found out later royal Caribbean charge twice as much for the same trip. We also priced the trip up at 5000 for 4 people but same trip with RC would have been 7500 plus so TUI offered better value for money. Read Less

My husband and I chose this Cruise as our very first Cruising experience. We chose Thomson because of previous recommendations from friends and family. We chose this particular ship because of the fabulous places to visit. From start to finish we had a fantastic experience. A great on boarding experience. We were escorted to our cabin and our bags were delivered at the same time which was great. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries which was a lovely touch and very gratefully received. Whilst our cabin was small, it was exceptionally clean and met our needs in every way. Our housekeeper Tanya was amazing. Went out of her way to give us a great experience. No task for her seemed too much trouble. The towels in the room were so nice... Read Less

This was our first cruise (couple 59 /63 )seemed to be a good value for money cruise but we were a little disappointed, cabin on deck 8 was ok but a bit small and lacking in clothes storage space, staff worked very hard to keep the ship clean but it is showing its age, paintwork in poor condition and rust streaks on some of the lounge picture windows, understand ship is dry docking in november so this may be sorted for next year Entertainment was pretty good, the entertainment team worked very hard .lack of a bulbous bow means that this ship is inclined to pitch as well as roll in anything of a blow. The excursions were ok but a bit expensive. The biggest disappointment was the poor quality of the food ,in the self service restaurants the food was often a bit cool and needed to be eaten quickly and seemed to be a bit monotonous. In the waiter service restaurants the food was of indifferent quality and small portions it was not even of pub grub standard let alone restaurant quality, the fish was especially poor very small Mediterranean fish that should have been left in the sea for a couple more years to grow up .spent extra one night on a steak and found that the steak knife wouldnt even cut it.The small a la carte bistro (cover charge) had the same menu posted up every day we did not fancy what was on the menu and since it stayed the same all week we didnt bother going in there.Whilst the beer was a reasonable price i consider £4-10 to be a bit exorbitant for a 25ml shot of ordinary whisky.Overall we quite enjoyed our cruise and may well cruise again but not on this ship! Thomson needs to look urgently at the catering on this ship. Read Less

Saw this cruise on offer on Thomson website and decided to try it as never been on a cruise before and always fancied it. The food was of excellent quality and the staff fastidious and cleanliness was of paramount importance to stop spread of infection. There were hand sanitiser points outside every restaurant and as you got on/off the ship. We booked a basic outside cabin which was a bit small with twin beds but comfortable. The cabin stewards were attentive during the duration of our cruise and we loved the animals they made out of the clean towels on our beds, very clever. If we do another cruise, I would upgrade to a bigger cabin with more space. Enjoyed most of the ports of call and the excursions were well organised and always on time. We particularly dislike Huelva as it wasn't a pretty port but was miles from anywhere if you just wanted to get off the ship and walk. Walking in the port area was prohibited but we could see a nice sandy beach which was inaccessible. The other ports were better as could choose to walk or go on excursions. We started in Palma both first and second week and had time to look around Palma during the middle of two weeks. The excursions were well organised, we went to Guadalest, Spain which was a pleasant little village and Corsica on a mini train/mountain ride was fantastic. Mahon was very very nice too and a lovely port area. Tetouan in Morocco was a great experience and a well organised trip. Erice in Sicily was a good experience up on the cable car but we got separated from the rest of the group and missed the photo stops. The excursions are expensive but does enable you to see the local area. The dolphin watch boat trip in Gibraltar was great and saw plenty of dolphins. We don't like lively cities so chose the quieter excursions to out of town places where possible. There was good variety of entertainment and plenty to do on the ship but drinks are very expensive. We didn't take out drinks package as we don't drink enough to warrant paying the price for one. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The only off put was on the last day at sea, a storm whipped up around the bay of Gibraltar and I was sea sick as the sea had been rough all night, but that hasn't put me of completely. My husband was fine and unaffected. Overall - would definitely do another cruise if we can afford it but bigger cabin and wouldn't bother with the safe as that was £25 for 2 weeks. Read Less

Brilliant cruise for a first time cruise! We didn't explore Palma on our first day as we was mainly on the sun deck but wish we would have. Embarking and disembarking the ship was easy every day as it was as simple as finding the gangway on deck 2. The ship overall looks very modern inside and out and is a very cosy ship to be on. The cabin we had was 3033 and this was an inside plus cabin. Very spacious, lots of wardrobe space and was always very tidy from the cabin stewards. Dining was outstanding in every restaurant on-board. We mainly dined in Seven Seas nearly every night as service was spot on with every waiter. We got a table most of the time with Yogi and Widi as our waiters brilliant staff always talking and entertaining. Entertainment on-board the ship was great too. Everyday there was always something to do throughout the day and at night. Through the day they had quizzes and other things going on inside and outside of the ship. At night I would recommend either Royal Fireworks Lounge or Jubilee Lounge as always something going on. Best night was the two nights the comedian Phil Doyle was on. Very funny and made everyone laugh for a long time. The itinerary we was on was the Mediterranean Medley and this was a very good one to choose as the ports varied and there was a lot to do in each location from beaches at Calvi to shopping on Las Rambles in Barcelona. I would recommend getting off at every port to explore as there is a lot to do. Probably better finding your own way as excursions can be pricey. I would definitely go again on this ship as it is very family friendly and a lot more entertaining than other cruise liners. Read Less

we have never on this ship before, last year we were on the celebration and loved everything about the cruise, with not 1 complaint, right from the start this cruise failed, no one from Thomson to meet us as we got off the plane to tell us that we had to collect our own luggage or even where to collect it from, nor were we told HOW to exit the airport terminal, once we found our way out of the airport we were finally meet by the cruise director and taken to the coach, it was only when we got to the ship we found that WE had to collect our luggage, it then cost us €25 to get our cases from the airport. TV was unwatchable, off more than on, we were woken up at 6:45am 2 mornings by kids NOT being looked after by their parents. cabin crew wanted to clean cabin just after 8am even though we had do not disturb. No UK sockets and no adapters available on board ship. the stuff left in cabin for drinks ( tea coffee etc) made 1 drink each then had to go to coffee bar to order more drinks, the drinks left in cabin to buy were not even in a fridge so red hot as no fridge in cabin. we eat in the buffet all the time building up friendships with a few of the waiters as well the head waiter who set up a wonderful surprise on our wedding anniversary, we always found the staff really excellent, the entertainment was good even met a singer (Benjamin Moss) we had made friends with on the Celebration singing on the majesty, we found the cost of shore excursions to much and a total waste of time so we went ashore when we wanted to and got more enjoyment that way finding our own way around the places we went. this was our 4th cruise with Thompson we choose them as we always feel we get value for money from our 1st day we really started to enjoy ourselves as embarkation ran very smoothly and our cases were at our cabin before us enabling us to unpack and change into our swimwear before exploring the ship. we had lunch and then went to deck 10 for a bit of sunshine and our 1st cocktail of the day, while at the bar we were surprised to be recognised by the barman who had served us 6 years ago on a different ship and warmly welcomed us and he even remembered our names. any staff that we came in contact with were very polite cheerful and helpful nothing was to much trouble for them . the food was plentiful and I can honestly say every dish we had was beautiful resulting in a 4lb weight gain when I returned home. we had an inside cabin and found it adequate and comfortable and clean for the duration of our cruise as we only used it for sleeping and getting washed and changed so if your looking a hotel sized room book a suite. I would recommend Thompson cruises to anyone and have done so in the past my only tip would to buy the drinks package when booking your holiday thanks to all staff and crew on the Thompson majesty for making my holiday memorable. This was our first cruise and had been highly recommended by friends. As cruise newbies i called Thomson after making my booking just to check i hadn't missed anything. I was then advised to pay extra to book a specific room with unobstructed sea view, which i did. As soon as we arrived at our room the most obvious thing was the lifeboat hanging outside our window completely blocking our view. I went to reception and have to say that the lady there was one of the rudest staff members i have ever met, other tourists in the queue also commented on how rude she was. I asked to speak to a manager. When he arrived he simply explained that they couldn't help and told me to contact Thomson on our return. The flight and joining the cruise were faultless, all staff involved were very efficient. The ship itself is dated but that wasnt an issue to use. Food was great and we paid for the drinks package, which i would recommend. The entertainment was fantastic, very enjoyable with plenty of room in the theater to get a seat, service here is very hit and miss but the staff appear to do their best. Seating and chill out areas on the ship are plenty and always appeared clean. I never had to wait for very long to get served at the bars. There is a limited amount of sunbathing area and beds were, at times, difficult to get. The rule of 45 minutes was not observed or enforced. My biggest complaint was that halfway through our cruise they decided to empty the main pool and two Jacuzzis for refurbishment. I asked the rep why this was happening and was informed that as we were in Rome it was expected that the majority of travelers would be off ship for the day. This was an accepted reason, however, the refurbishment went on for the remainder of the cruise. The cruise then became a floating builders yard. Areas around the deck had to be sectioned off due to dust and the sound of angle grinders all day really ruined the ambiance. This refurbishment in the middle of a cruise is totally unacceptable and the pathetic weak excuses given at the time and after the cruise were inexcusable. In short this went very close to ruining our trip and i am confident that the majority of travelers would have felt the same. Without the pool issue i would have scored this cruise a four or five. From a recommendation of a friend we booked on this cruise our first one. Can say we had a fantastic time. Yes there were a few niggles, but you get that with any holiday I'm sure. The Crew and staff were amazing can't praise them enough. Nothing to much trouble for them and so friendly they obviously took a pride in working for the Thomson brand. Entertainment good some West End type shows, comedy and variety shows as well. Cant comment on other people's experiences, but our cabin although small was adequate, after all we only slept in it. I personally wouldn't book another excursion through Thomson, we went on the Rome one and felt we had been rushed round with no time to take in the spectacular views. A group of us got detached from the main group as our guides sprinted ahead and it was a good 25 minutes before we were reunited. We felt it had been an expensive waste of time and money. It is easy to arranged your own trips as most of the ports are within easy reach of train and bus stations and taxis are near and plentyful. Food on board was good, please be aware that the kitchens cater for over 1000 guests so it won't be as good as home cooked meals. Everything was nicely presented and if there isn't anything to take your fancy then the staff will move Heaven and Earth to provide something you will enjoy. Yes the ship is old and in need of sprucing up, but from my experience it is clean and adequate for needs. Read Less

This was our first cruise so did not know what to expect, we were very pleased with everything about the cruise, from the moment we stepped on the ship, we had a basic inside cabin which was small but very sufficient for what we needed, there is a safe in the cabin which you pay 15.00 English pounds for the week non refundable so this was a good idea, you are issued a boarding card when you arrive which you have to show everytime you leave the ship and then when you board for security reasons, also when you order drinks on the ship, their is a shop on board selling basic things and clothes but could be a bit pricey. We paid for our drinks package up front which is better to do as it saved us quite a bit of money, you can do this on the ship but its a lot more money, you can book excursions before you go or you can book these on the ship, we only booked the Florence+ Pisa tour as this was an hour and a half bus transfer into Florence then another 1hr approx to Pisa, you can do the trips on your own steam. Also if you are in a wheelchair or have walking difficulties some of the tours were tender to shore which was on a little boat which did not provide any kind of disability requests so just check before you book on those, The staff were all very friendly our cleaning staff were fabulous and kept the room lovely and clean, there was a lot of choice with food you could either go to the buffet or there were 2 restaurants where you were served on you paid for and the other you did not, always food on all day afternoon tea was also provided. We were off the ship most days so did not get to sit by the pool area or on deck that much but we were very pleased with the cruise, you have to register a debit or credit card when you first arrive for any purchases made on the cruise you can either pay this up as you go along with English or Euro or you can leave it to your final bill and they take if off your card. Will definately be going on another cruise the Thomson staff were very helpful and friendly, the shows were mainly singing but still very enjoyable. Read Less

Myself and my Husband (52 & 58yrs) have just returned from an amazing Cruise around the Greek Islands and Turkey. This is the first time we have cruised and couldn't have chosen a better cruise ship to start us off. The start was not too good as we arrived 3 and a half hours late due to the plane being delayed and this meant that we arrived after the ship was supposed to depart. We were disappointed that Thomsons did not give any information about what would happen regarding this and did not tell us that the Ship would wait for us. On arrival at the airport the travel to the ship was seamless, we were met by a rep who tagged our cases and gave us our cabin and boarding passes, we loaded our cases onto the coach and the next time we saw them they were outside our cabin. Yes the ship was a little tired in places but there was everything we needed on board. We were in an outside cabin on deck 3, the cabin was adequate, it had tea making facilities a small shower, hairdryer and a TV with limited channels - but who watches TV on a cruise?. Helen our cabin stewardess was great, really friendly and did an excellent job. The food was amazing, we dined mainly in the seven seas restaurant in the evening but also used the Piazzo San Marco buffet for breakfast and afternoon tea. We did 1 excursion to Ancient Delos from Mykonos and to be honest we wouldn't do organised excursions again. It was very nice but we could have done the same trip on our own for half of the price. There were 2 ports which were disappointing these were Athens and Kalamata. The Acropolis was great in Athens but apart from that there was not much to do. We got the yellow tour bus from outside the port a couple of minutes walk. With a bit of a haggle we got this for 15 Euros, this took us to the Acropolis, about 25min drive and then following this we re-boarded the bus for a tour of Athens this took about 2 hrs due to heavy traffic, so give plenty of time for this. Kusadasi is great for Genuine Fake goods but be ready for haggling and don't be pressurised into buying from the first shop you go into. The entertainment that was put on surprised us,we went to most of the shows in the Jubilee lounge and they were really professional, from a Queen tribute show to songs by Lloyd Webber and Rice. There was also a guest UK comedian act which was hilarious. The entertainments director was great and made sure everyone knew what was going on, on a daily basis. We also frequented the Piano bar in the Royal Observatory. We didn't buy the drinks package but when on board we did buy a wine package for £72, which was well worth it, you would have to go some to drink £400 worth of drinks between 2 people in a week. Our total bill for drinks including the wine package was £120 and we didn't go without. On the last day we paid for a cabin for the day as we weren't leaving until 18.15pm, this was well worth the £35. The trip from the Ship to the airport was again seamless and we were only let down once again by the airline as we were delayed on the way back as well. All in all a brilliant cruise with a 5 star service, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we will certainly be cruising again with Thomsons Read Less

I was on the Majesty for my 1st Cruise ever in September 2014, it was a treat to my partner & myself as I was having my 50th birthday on board on the 22nd September. As this was our first cruise I was worried as to what it would be like, as I have worked in the shipbuilding industry for over 25 years, and spent many a months at sea. But to be on the ship as a passenger, rather than part of the crew, I fully enjoyed myself that much that I have booked another cruise on the same ship, in this coming May 2016 for 2 weeks. The activities onboard are amazing, and the crew try to get everybody involved, but if you just want to sit and moan, then is that really what you paid your money for? I have to mention some of the crew who made this an excellent holiday; the house-keepers Tatyana & Olha, who kept our suite tidy with fresh fruit everyday; the bar staff and waitresses around the ship Kadek, Gigi, Harry, Ahmed, Soso, Shain & my pal Mary Doll (Mary Ann) who made our evening enjoyable; they even got me a surprise cake for my 50th birthday. The cabin we stayed in was at the bow end of the ship, cabin 607 which gave us a fantastic view every morning as we were coming into port in a different country. Well here is looking forward to putting on another couple of pounds in May, as I cant speak highly enough of the food on board; from the buffets at the poolside to the Seven Seas Restaurant. But more importantly, the reason I am writing this so long after my original cruise is because of the bad reviews that the minority are posting on this site. Do not listen to them, go there with an open mind and enjoy yourself whither your twenty one or ninety one. Cant wit for May 2016. Read Less
