After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried we had booked the wrong ship, well we had a wonderful surprise, everything on this ship was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful, from cabin staff through to restaurant staff everyone was very polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This was our first cruise with TUI and we will most defiantly be sailing with them again. We had the drinks package which was well worth the money, we found the food superb, always some thing to eat 24 hours if you wanted it. Our cabin was a inside cabin with additional space on deck 4, we slept soundly every single night and woke up fully refreshed every morning. The cabin was quite spacious, we didn't feel claustrophobic at all, the cabin staff kept the cabin spotlessly clean, coming in twice a day to check it out. I would recommend this cruise Mediterranean Melody to anyone, visiting Corsica, Florence & Pisa, Monte Carlo & Monaco, Marseille and Barcelona. Thank you TUI for a unforgettable holiday and birthday. Having read some of the reviews before I went I was a bit apprehensive, I have sailed on Thomson Spirit and P&O ships before, I dont know why I was worried, yes the ship is old, but it is spotless. The embarkation was easy and staff very helpful, we got on to the ship and went to explore, the inside was lovely not dated like I expected. We had an inside plus cabin which had enough room for us, the bathrooms are small but adequate enough. plenty of wardrobe space for both of us, We ate in Le Bistro one night as it was for a celebration, the buffet restaurant was good, plenty of food available for everyone, the waiter service restaurants were very good as well.Excellent food in all of the restaurants onboard. The bar staff were brilliant so friendly and made you feel so welcome and very cheerful, made us laugh a lot, they couldn't do enough for you.The entertainment team were brilliant, we saw most of the shows and they put so much energy into it, We only did one excursion which was Florence, very easliy run, coaches all waiting for you when you got off ship, we couldn't get off the boat in Corsica because of the sea was a bit choppy for the tender boats Overall I know this is the last year for this ship but if it wasn't I wouldn't hesitate to go on it again, we had a lovely cruise and will do Thomson again, I personally found it more friendlier than the P&O one we did last year. Going on a cruise has been on my "bucket" list since visiting the port at Palma de Mallorca 12 years ago. My husband decided that the occasion of my 60th birthday was right for a surprise cruise as a present. He couldn't have chosen better than the Thomson Majesty. From embarkation to our final day, we had a fantastic holiday. We arrived at the Majesty embarkation centre straight from the airport, which has a transfer time of 20 minutes by coach. We arrived at a busy time with several coaches arriving at the same time, so embarking was busy, but very well organised. We explored the ship instead of visiting Palma, and there is a orientation tour of the Majesty that can be done, but we just enjoyed getting lost onboard for the first hour! One pleasing aspect for me was that since ceasing smoking a few years ago, and I now use a vape, vaping is permitted in the Polo Lounge and Casino, which meant I could enjoy my vape without having to be on the Sun Deck with smokers. We dined in all of the restaurants except the Bistro which carries a supplement. We preferred the Four Seasons to the Seven Seas, as the Four Seasons is smaller, although both restaurants have the same menus each day. The restaurants are run front of house with a Maitre d', who runs the restaurant staff with a rod of iron! The menus were varied with vegan, vegetarian, meat, fish and seafood available every day. The dress code is smart casual, and gentlemen are not permitted to wear shorts at evening dinner. There is the Captain's Gala Night in the Seven Seas, with two sittings, and the invitation is delivered to your cabin. We understand that the Gala Night is usually the evening of the day at sea. Dress code is smart to formal, and we enjoyed wearing our evening wear for this one. There is a buffet restaurant on Deck 10, where the dress code is smart casual, and shorts are allowed. The buffet restaurant has a chef's corner, where there is a different cooking method going on, or a carvery. We generally found that the standard of food very good, and the restaurants were spotlessly clean and well run. We attended only a few of the entertainments onboard, as we found that we made so many friends, the time simply flew by, and we were too late to go!! One thing we did note - every one of the staff greeted their passengers, and this friendly attitude rubbed off on every one else, which made for a lovely, friendly relaxed atmosphere. We have never found this at hotels. There was a medical incident onboard, which necessitated the need for one of the auditoriums to be evacuated whilst the medical team did their jobs. The Polo Bar flooded with guests, but the professional manner in which the staff dealt with this was very impressive. We watched the Bar Manager at his best, and bar waiting staff just appeared from nowhere, and the situation was coped with admirably. There is a gym on Deck 7, which we did not use, and a late disco as well. There is a very good Wellness Centre, and I had a full body hot stone massage, which was well worth the money. As this was our first cruise, we decided to have a private photo shoot. We negotiated a good price, and the photographer did a good job. There were some not so mobile guests on board, and | noticed that they were well catered for, including wheelchair user friendly areas. The Sun Deck on Deck 10 did get busy, and I did not notice any towel reserving of the sunbeds. We had mixed feelings regarding the excursions. We booked our excursions before the cruise, as we felt that we did not want to miss out on anything, which we would if we tried to go it alone. The Villfranche - Monaco trip was a transfer by tender to the shore, and the young lady we had was first class. She lived in Nice, and was very passionate about the area. Our next trip was to Pisa, just the morning trip as the Florence and Pisa one was a 9 hour day! Our guide was Italian, and just fired facts at us, and silence for the rest. I think I overthought the trip to Pisa, as I felt a bit let down, as it was just the leaning tower, cathedral and a baptistry. We wanted to visit the cathedral, and had to queue for a ticket, and then we couldn't visit until 45 minuted after we had to muster for the coach. The port was industrial, as one would expect, perhaps I had too high an expectation on this one. The port in Corsica was by tender, and was a bit choppy, with some guests cancelling their trip due to the weather for which they had a full refund. The excursion in Corsica for us was the wine tasting in the mountains of the island, and it was very good. The winery gave everyone on the coach a gratis bottle as well!! The guide knew her stuff, and was very informative. We were diverted next from Marseilles, due to bad weather and the French election taking place, so we went to Mahon, Menorca. The port here is a well known beautiful port, and as we had been to Mahon before, we went it alone, and used a road train that runs a circular tour around the town. A choppy night was to come, and we woke the next morning in beautiful Barcelona. The Segrada Familia is a must to see inside, and our guide was excellent. Can I just say, that if your guide tells you to meet at a certain point at a certain time, it is to keep the tour on time, so please adhere to it. We wasted time because of this. Last day was back at Palma, and the end of our lovely trip around the Med. We thoroughly enjoyed this holiday, the only gripe I have is that bottles of water are NOT part of the drinks package, and it was €1.40 for a bottle. I felt that this was wrong, even night clubs will give you water, it is a basic element of staying safe in the heat. We would book Thomson again in a heartbeat, and don't hesitate to book on an older, smaller ship like the Majesty. Read Less

The cruise was on average what you would expect. The food, drink, entertainment, and ship was nothing more than what you would expect on a cruise at the expense paid. If this was the worst than I would have marked higher. A few staff were good, cleaning staff and security were excellent - very polite, well mannered, looking after the guests. However most of the staff acted as if they clearly did not want to be there, especially most of the drinks waiting staff. You could see the background politics i.e. arguments and bitchiness. The aftermath of the arguments could be seen clearly while serving customers. On a 7-day cruise we must have waited near enough 24 hours in total to be served drinks during shows we watched. The entertainment was average, but the waiting staff must have enjoyed it as they spent a lot of the time watching it and dancing along. The casino was terrible. We put a bit of money aside to go to the casino (thinking we would get drinks served at the gaming tables due encouraging us to stay at the tables longer which is impossible if you have to keep going to get a drink yourself). While at the table we asked for a drink and got told it wasn't their area to serve drinks. Having to leave the table to get a drink saved us money. Food on the ship is what you would expect. Drink is done in small measures with plenty of ice to hide it- what you would expect. Went for a non-alcoholic drink (coffee and orange juice) at 9.30am and was charged- some time restrictions were for no reason. This was the first cruise we went on and it was average to what we expected. Nothing jumped out to give it a wow factor. Entertainment staff were average and also ignorant- never saying hello and walking by guests ignoring them. You would think that a simple "morning" as they walk by would be given as a courtesy. Walking round off ship, passing by none of the members of staff would even say hello, apart from the security. Again you would think this is common courtesy. The flight with Thomson on the way there was as expected. On the way back I got physical and verbal abuse for reclining my chair due to needing the room ( tall guy). The staff on seeing this did nothing. Some people did enjoy the cruise but several couples we spoke to, agreed it was below par or worse. Read Less

Went on this cruise to test the wife's sea legs . It was fantastic . All the staff were great . Ricky on room attendant . Fred who served on the pool bar . I could go on forever the food was brill and the formal night was top to with the singing waiters . The only thing I can pull them on is sun bed patrol . Sun beds being reserved with towels and no one checking . It had in the rules not do this and if you leave your stuff would be removed and taken to reception . Did not happen all day at sea and no sun bed .would recommend this ship all the time well done to the staff. It was my wife's first time and she loved it .lots to keep you busy on board . Will book next year the comic was brill from hull . Read Less

First time cruise for us and this will not be the last. We had a great week aboard the Majesty and enjoyed every minute. The staff, food, and entertainment were all excellent. We travelled with our 3 teenage girls who equally enjoyed the whole experience. Thomson really do go the extra mile to ensure you have a great holiday. The double cabin was spotless and the cabin staff a delight, nothing was too much trouble. The dining was flexible and we enjoyed both restaurant and the buffet style and both equally lovely. The ports we visited all had local shops and restaurants to visit if you did not opt for the excursions. Everyone was so helpful and there was a real mixture of ages which made it a real family friendly atmosphere. We upgraded to include a drinks package and this paid for itself. Most drinks were included apart from the odd cocktail and no one on board was drunk or stupid. Thanks for a great week. Read Less

This was our first cruise and last! We paid extra to have our own balcony and were very grateful for that. When we arrived in our room the bedding hadn't been changed and there was traces of mascara on the pillow cases, this was eventually sorted out but this was only the beginning! The cabin was very noisy, the air con was very loud and kept us awake at night and also the wardrobe doors rattled constantly all night. On a positive note the food was very good and we had no complaints there, also the staff were brilliant and very helpful, I have read a lot of complaints about the drinks package but we found it perfectly adequate. Unfortunately there were always queues to be seated at the restaurant at night which was frustrating, sometimes we would have liked a table for two but this was impossible. The excursions were overpriced so we made our own way around. The shower was awful, hardly any power at all, washing hair was a complete chore, sometimes the water coming from the tap was brown! Also the television was never working it just came up 'No signal' a lot of the time. We spoke to people that said they always went on cruises and this was the worst one and advised us not to be put off but unfortunately this experience has put us off!! Read Less

I was very concerned about this ship after reading some awful comments but as usual, we were pleasantly surprised. We had upgraded our cabin to outside plus following bad reviews of standard cabins and we were very pleased with it. We were in 733 and our cabin overlooked deck 7. I was very concerned that people walking past could see in but realised that the windows have a two way mirror effect - we could see out but no one could see in even with the light on - very relieved! The cabin had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space (there's never enough for me anyway) and was quite a pretty room; however the shower room while very clean, was small and in need of a bit of a makeover. It was fine though and pretty much what we expect from this ship. I was delighted to find my hairdryer and straighteners worked perfectly (a big thing for most women) and it was unusual as I can never normally get much power on a ship. The food onboard in the cafe area is pretty basic, nothing outstanding and nothing that encouraged me to eat more than I normally would, but perfectly adequate for us who are not big eaters anyway but we ate in the 7 Seas each evening and did enjoy that. They always tried to get us a table for two. We only had to share one evening. We bought a drinks package when we booked which wasn't expensive; the wine wasn't that brilliant and I've had better. My husband likes Fosters and that wasn't included but San Miguel is fine. You have to pay for bottled water which is ridiculous. The main entertainment was pretty good, the show team always make an excellent effort and the comedian was brilliant although we have seen him before. Daytime entertainment leaves a lot to be desired but generally we're either off ship or sunbathing so it wasn't a big deal for us. We would go down to one of the bars mid afternoon and it was always very quiet. A little musical entertainment would go down well then. We did a couple of excursions. One to Barcelona but when dropped off for free time later was told we could either make our own way back or to meet the coach at 1.20. We were there at 1.10pm with another couple and waited 30 minutes but it didnt turn up. We ended up sharing a taxi back so we were a bit annoyed. We did go to complain (it was our last day) but reception was so busy we gave up. Overall a very good weeks cruising. Its a budget cruise so I think we had value for money. Read Less

First sea cruise; wedding anniversary trip, we are late 50s, this was outside school holiday time deliberately. Researched the ports of call beforehand, comparing self guided tours with those offered by the cruise line. Flights, transfers and embarkation all smooth, well directed by staff. The staff were very friendly and generally tried to be helpful (although on the last day there was a noticeable drop in enthusiasm) but often were not able to help because someone more senior was not available to make a decision - while unfailingly polite and friendly, the depth of customer service was lacking. I paid £52 for a hair do and make up for the Captain's dinner as a personal treat, but was very, very disappointed. Entertainment was very good, with different kinds in different places, something for everyone. Food had plenty of variety , but generally fairly bland and nothing outstanding (as usual with bulk cooked food). Desserts really not worth having, very tasteless. We did our own thing with public transport and guidebooks in Barcelona, Calvi and MonteCarlo/Monaco, and took the cruise company option for Avignon/Marseille, Florence/Pisa and a free marketing tour they put on in Palma to fill in the departure day. Quite a tiring 7 days as we felt we had to pack a lot in to see as much as possible of each port of call - my ideal would by alternating port and at sea (rest) days. Read Less

Hellenic Classics Cruise 26th June, Well i had intended to put a review of our trip as we traveled but we had such a great trip that time just ran away with us. Anyway here goes, Check in at Birmingham was busy but moved fairly quickly and we were through to the departure lounge in 30 mins. Boarding was called an hour before take off and was well organised at the gate, we took off 10 mins late. We had extra legroom seats that were even a lot more room than Monarch Extra leg room, while friends in row 24 said that they also had loads of leg room without paying the £50 each extra. Nice smooth flight of 2 hours 50 mins and we were in Corfu, short coach ride to the terminal to collect the cases and on the transfer bus in under 20 mins, again very well organised. Short 15 min ride to the port to check in and have our pictures taken along with CC details and we were on board in no time at all. We had a quick wander around top deck and 15 minutes later our cases were outside our cabin. We had cabin 836 an outside plus that i had checked with the Thomson shop that had a clear view that we paid £42 extra for and was not dissapointed as we had 2 large windows and an uniterupted view. The cabin itself had clearly seen better days with the furniture quite old and worn but everything was very clean and worked well. The beds were spotless and comfortable and the shower was the best i have had on any of our 6 cruises, never short of hot water even at peak times. Our friends had a standard outside cabin 850 and that was quite small compared to ours and did not have a fridge however we were hardly in the cabins for it to make that much difference. Yes the boat is now 23 years old but it was well looked after with the maintenance crew constantly cleaning or painting different areas every day, it is certainly not a rust bucket as i saw more rusty bad areas on the Carnival Sunshine 2 years ago and that had just come from a multi Million refit. There were 2 areas of concern for me and that was around the main pool and Jacuzzis where the tiling was in desperate need of a refurb, then the other issue was the soot from the chimneys at the rear of the boat. This needs sorting somehow as the top aft deck was unable to be used as everything there got covered in soot, the sunbeds in that area were in a terrible state and looked disgusting. That apart we had a great week, mostly it was a very friendly happy crew just with a few exceptions that were Eastern Europeans that clearly had no people skills. We had the drinks package free when we booked and made full use of it every day and overall was well impressed with the bar and waiter, waitress service. There were plenty of places around the boat where you could get a quiet drink away from the crowds if you wanted to. Read Less
