Going downhill

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Marella Discovery

We travelled with Marella same embarkcation in 2022. Rebooted on the positive journey last year. The ships hygiene is poor. They don't wipe down tables after use in the Island restaurant (indoor or out) when we spoke to someone they tried to justify the lack of care due to a Customs Inspection on the day. However, whilst they removed dishes quickly, they didn't wipe at all, the entire 7 days ...

Possibly our last cruise with Marella

Having booked with friends we paid £50 each to book cabins on the same deck, but on opposite sides. This was based on the theory that one would always have a pleasant view in ports, sunsets etc. Whilst waiting to board we realised despite this, they put us both on the port side and on decks 6 & 7. On boarding we spoke to “Guest Services” who advised that they never change cabins on day one, so if ...

A very disappointing cruise

I chose this cruise only for the ports of call, which was then amended as the ship wasn't allowed in Puert Rico and US Virgin Islands. So we ended instead going to Tobago and Antigua yet again. I normally say you get what you pay for and I certainly did not. I paid as a solo traveller and it was my 70th Birthday I would treat myself £4600 but I did have a small balcon but what I got for the ...

Be careful what you wish for. Quantity over quality on this Booze Cruise

Having done several cruises with various companies including TUI Celebration (a great little ship full of fun and with great service), last April we booked with friends to spend Christmas on the Discovery. Back in October we did a late booking on the same ship, the last Med cruise before it headed off to the Caribbean. Expectations for the Christmas cruise were high and we just hoped that there ...

Very Disappointing

We chose this ship after discovering that TUI did cruise and stay. The flight from Glasgow was fine. Transportation from Airport to the Ship was quick and we checked in quickly at the Terminal. Our Balcony Cabin was on Deck 6. It was small and dated. The balcony was also very small. We have been on several other cruises and this was the smallest cabin that we have ever stayed in. During the ...

This was our first cruise. We picked it because so many people told us what a fantastic experience it would be . Everyone raves about the quality of food, the level of service etc that you receive and we thought it would be a great way to visit a lot of new destinations in one trip. We love the Caribbean and have spent many holidays on various islands and were looking forward to both re-visiting ...

Say goodbye to Thomson's, say Hello to TUI

We are seasoned cruisers both with Thomson's and other cruise lines. Until now we have always enjoyed cursing with Thomson and have always had a good cruise experience with them. However our latest cruise with their latest ship Discovery and the newly named company TUI was a different matter. Gone are the experienced friendly Pilipino crew to be replaced by very in experienced crew, mainly from ...

Cold food, unhelpful destinations team

This was our fifth cruise with Thomson and by far the worst. Firstly the good point:- We stepped off the airplane steps and onto a bus that took us directly to the ship. It went down hill from there. The bad points:- Food, in the buffet hall the food was cold. In the 47 degree restaurants which were waiter service if you didn't order a bottle of wine you got shoddy ...

Decent enough ship, good food, poor entertainment and poor ports

I chose this cruise as I have cruised with Thomson twice previously in the Med and quite enjoyed it. This time I fancied seeing some of the Caribbean. I must admit I didn't research the ports of call much as this cruise was the only one that matched my availability, that was probably a mistake. some of them were very dumpy and they were all geared up to milk you for as much money as possible. ...

Hell with a smile

We boarded on Christmas Day, 2 adults and a five year old child. Food was really bland, son was ill after a few days and so many people had the vomiting bug in the second week including my wife. After upgrades of room etc this cruise cost over 6000£ and we just wanted to go home. We felt conned by the company when we sent some clothes to the laundry service. They charged us per item, however on ...
