We have never cruised before, and were a bit apprehensive This was an amazing holiday, top class entertainment, food, accom and service - can't wait to return. Some of the shows wouldn't have been out of place in the West End Choice of restaurants was great, and the gym facilities were adequate Destinations were ideal and we had enough time in each to get to relax, soak up the atmosphere before returning to ship. We just wish we had discovered cruising years ago- the perfect balance of relaxation, activity, good food and brilliant service- Tui should be very proud of Marella Discovery 2, its staff and crew- there was a sense of pride in the way everyone went about their daily tasks only recommendation- more effort into the open air cinema programme- Hook, Jumanji, BIG and Ghostbusters but only approx. 10 children on board And charging for wifi seemed a bit cheeky Read Less

I got on the discovery 2 at Corfu and got of there as well. I was on the ship for a week and the destinations are lovely Santorini and Rhodes have to be my favourite. The cruise is really good the activity's for kids are a climbing wall a mini golf 9 holes 2 swimming pools one inside and one outside also there is a games room called hideout for the children to chill out and play on the Xbox and the football table. The entertainment is fantastic with 4 different venues to choose from and they have a casino. the bars were clean and sold a verity of alcohols from shots to beer to cocktails. the crew are so friendly saying hello and always ready to help really good custom. The sail away party was absolutely fantastic with live performances from DJ Tomas and a band that I cant remember there name and a flag parade to see were parts of the crew come from. definitely arrange with TUI they are stars amazing job Read Less

This was our first cruise, so we had nothing to compare against, but the 4 people in our party all thought the cruise on Merrella Discovery 2 was excellent. The ship and the cabins were spotlessly clean, the crew are permanently going around cleaning. The majority of the crew were very pleasant and helpful, you will always get one or two who aren't, but they were very much the minority. The quality of the food was exceptional and there would be something for the fussiest of eaters. We dined mainly in the Island restaurant which is self service, but the food here is superb. I can't agree with a previous reviewer who said the food was poor. We also dined in the Gallery restaurant and 47 Gallery restaurant both of which is waiter service, again the food was excellent. We did have to queue and wait for a table in both of these restaurants, but it wasn't a problem. We asked for a table for 4 and was given a bleeper device for the restaurant staff to contact you when a table was available. the longest we waited was approx. 25 minutes. There are two more restuarants on board for which you have to pay a supplement to eat in. We didn't bother as we felt there was no need. Maybe if we had been on a two week cruise we may have done. .We had a superior balcony cabin, which again was excellent. It was a good size and never felt cramped. If there was a small criticism, it would be the shower cubicle could have don with being a touch bigger.Having said that, I am a more mature person of age and never had a problem having a shower. We all thought the entertainment was very good on board ship, especially the live shows. Yes they aren't West End standard, but very very enjoyable, and the entertainers work very hard. We went all inclusive, and felt we had our monies worth, again TUI do try to charge extra for certain things but if you are careful about what you asking for you can do the whole cruise without incurring additional charges. As for the morning announcements from the Captain from the bridge, we all thought this was a good way to start the day. Captain Chris was very informative telling you about the place we were moored and the weather for the day. We had no problem with this. All in all as a first cruise we had a fantastic time, and will certainly cruise on this ship again. Read Less

I decided to book the Greek Mystique cruise as my wife has had surgery recently and really needed to recuperate and recover. After check in at Gatwick we didn't see our luggage again until delivered to our cabin I can not tell you how amazing that was not to have to face the hustle and bustle of the airport baggage carousels! I rater enjoyed the main resturaunt as they operate an open seating dining plan so we were able to dine with new people every evening, which when we usually cruise on Seabourn and Azamara we have a fixed table and dining companions for the duration of the cruise -so Marella has hit on a good idea on the occasions where one may be sitted on a dining table with 'cruise snobs'.Which in the past we have had to endure! We are retired although a young 59 and 61, we tend to book 4 cruises per year one for each season. We have one Seabourn and one Azamrara then 2 cheaper options which this year is Marella and Cruise & Maritime to try the other end of the market. The ship Celebration was old as described on CC.reviews, but it was perfectly clean and comfortable. We prefer to have waiter service at meals as my wife isn't always able to stand and queue for periods of time and apart from the very last morning when there was literally not a seat to be had this worked perfectly for us. Our cabin steward was superb so although tips are included we left him cash in an envelope cabin was cleaned and towels replenished twice daily. My wife purchased two Radley handbags which she said were great value. we are not drinkers so didn't opt for the AI Drinks package(due to my wife's medication). We did take excursions which although costly were not exhorbitant but much more importantly safe for my wife's comfort. We ate in Mistrals which was a delight -highly recommended especially drunken prawns delicious! The Ports of call were delightful especially KOTORin Mo ntenegro and sailing out of Dubrovnik at night ! STUNNING. keeping the best till last- just has to be the entertainment. THE showteam were leaving and a new team and Cruise Director was starting the week after we disembarked. They were amazing and the show Africa was wonderful. We really thought it couldn't get any better until Monday when the Guest Act came on to do his show. His name was Christopher Gee and he was superb, my wife laughed so much it was sheer joy to behold. And his comedy impressions were stunning-the thing we could't work out was how can every voice he did be so accurate and yet he even manages to look like each person he takes on. His Tommy Cooper had everyone in stiches, and his Eric Morecambe had us all fighting off a tear at the much loved comedian but the absolute hIghlight was his one man tribute to Dave Allen it was so perfect even down to him holding a whiskey glass with only half a forefinger, his attention to detail was astounding. He recieved a richly deserved standing ovation! The neXt night was his second show and there simply wasn't a seat to be had and extra chairs from the bars were brought in, but the show was totally different Alan Carr/Michael Macintyre/Ozzy/he also did an hilarious BORIS AND Donald Trump had us ill with laughter very up to date you could hear a pin drop and that was after midnight. He was very personable young man and told us he will be on Marella Dream later in the year so we are booking that one too! We love the shows and we don't watch a lot of comedians to be fair- but I just had to post this review as everyone is quick to complain but not always ready to say a big well done Marella for booking a comedian impressionist that did nor offend one single person no un PC material or smut involved just FUNNY!!! The entire ship was talking about him the next day. in all one has to commend Marella ,especially at their price point as I assure you we have got much less from paying 4 times more!!! Read Less

Best cruise I’ve been on. Top marks for an amazing experience. Facilities excellent, staff were incredibly and made this so perfect in every way. Cabin service was worthy of 5 stars, thanks to Eli and Ella who were wonderful. A big thanks to Islands restaurant where the 2 most handsome men Raphael and Stefan looked after me. These guys were terrific. This ship was super clean thanks to all the hard working staff. I would highly recommend this holiday to everyone. Whatever your age or ability there is something to suit all. Remember to try afternoon tea from 3 to 5 in Islands, I’ve honestly never had such a delicious selection. The only problem is the food is too tempting but you can walk the track on deck 10 to exercise after. Or visit the gym to burn off those extra calories. This is a truly fantastic holiday and I wish I could have stayed another week. Read Less

We’ve just returned from a really lovely Aegean Meze cruise on the Dream, staying in one of the new balcony cabins. We booked quite late for this holiday. Quite new to cruising, we have sailed with Celebrity in the past and very much like it, but the Meze fitted in with our timescale. So it was our first cruise with Thomson/Marella, although we have in the past enjoyed excellent package holidays with Thomson. So in spite of some poor reviews of the ship (which all companies receive from time to time) we were quite confident of having a good holiday and went with an open mind. Now we are back home we feel we would definitely sail with Thomson/Marella again and are reluctant to rule out the Dream, but sadly, next time we would probably look for a ship with a wider range and location of balconies. The Dream is a lovely, well maintained, older style ship and the crew are second to none, with good food and a great itinerary. The vast majority of people seemed to be having a wonderful time and so did we. I must emphasize how much we both enjoyed the cruise. But we always choose a balcony cabin, and the problem was that the new balcony cabins had been placed towards the back of the ship, presumably over where the engines are. That’s why we noticed a fair bit of vibration at night and this seemed to be amplified by the metal or whatever the fabric of the walls and ceiling was, which tended to rattle. My husband has hearing aids and once they were out the rattle did not seem to worry him, but I sometimes had trouble getting off to sleep. Noise from busy deck 8, where the shops and much of the entertainment is held, was not a problem because the cabins were down their own corridor, but the dividing walls of the balcony cabins were very thin and so it was possible to hear quite a lot from the next door cabins. I think that when everyone realised this, we all tried not to make much noise, so it wasn’t too bad. Also I am sure that there are people who have stayed in these cabins and who have not noticed any problem, but our experience is as above. Otherwise, the cabin had plenty of space and was clean and well kept. It’s worth noting that towards the midship and the front, there was no vibration so I am sure that any cabins sited here would be better from the noise point of view, if you are not bothered about having a balcony. A more detailed review is as follows: BOOKING: We had booked by telephone, which brought us to the Manchester office and the girls there were really efficient! That was a really good first impression. If they had to find something out, they would ring us back which was most helpful. When booking cruises with Cebrity, we have had to hang on for ages while something was checked out, or be passed from one operator to another. Not so with Thomson. Everything was sorted out to our satisfaction and the paperwork received promptly. Wonderful. We would definitely book again with them! TRAVEL: It was the first time we had done a fly-cruise as we normally sail from Southampton, but the journey went well. Living in Norfolk we could fly from Norwich, and found that at all stages of the journey to the ship there was a representative there to point us in the right direction. At Corfu we were directed to a coach straight away, handed over our luggage and were driven to the port terminus building where we checked in. We were on the ship less than an hour after the plane landed. IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP: We had landed at dusk and it was dark by the time we approached the ship, which was all lit up and looking very attractive with its fairy lights. On entering we were greeted in a friendly way and the ship was spotless. We went straight to the cabin for a brief moment before heading off to the dining room and our cases were just arriving. We always choose to have a balcony as it gives us a bit of private space and we like to see the sea. So we had been delighted to be able to book one on the Dream as there are only a few of them. It was of a good size and very clean and sweet smelling, kept pristine by Bambang, our lovely and friendly attendant. The shower was of a good size and with a sliding door. The bed was large and there was plenty of hanging and drawer space. So far so good. There was a lot going on on the ship with a good band, the Top Men, playing for the sailaway, too loudly for us codgers but talented nonetheless. In the dining room and elsewhere we loved the older, retro type of fittings and brass light shades and fittings. In other reviews, remarks have been made about rust and smells, but to us the ship looked well maintained, spotlessly clean and not offensive to the nose. The ship appeared “old style” (rather than “old”, meaning past it, as some reviewers have alleged). There was also a lovely promenade deck to walk on. We did not use the pools or the sun loungers, but there appeared to be plenty of the latter around the ship. There was always cleaning going on and everything gleamed. STAFF: I cannot speak too highly of the staff and the crew. Everyone was really lovely, friendly and helpful and intent on making our holiday the best. We would certainly sail with Thomson, or Marella, again for this reason alone, if not on the same ship. OTHER PASSENGERS: Whereas on our Celebrity cruises we have sailed with a multinational crowd, which is also nice, on the Dream they seemed to be mainly Brits from all corners of the UK with a mixture of families, it being half term, younger and older couples. There was a really nice homely atmosphere and nearly everyone seemed to be having a great time. There were some issues, I understand with the toilets, but the staff seemed to be trying to put them right as quickly as possible. FOOD: It being mainly for the Brits, the type of food did mainly cater for the British, with choices such as lasagne or couscous salad which are nowadays part of British fare as well as the usual British grub. We don’t have any special needs so I couldn’t comment on those; but I have to say that we did eat extremely well, and most of the time we enjoyed our food as much as we have done on the Celebrity ship that is renowned for its dining. We did note the absence of anything like a themed evening, for example for Greek or Turkish food during the cruise, seeing that we were visiting these countries, but we did come home several pounds heavier anway! We did not bother with any of the speciality restaurants, mainly eating in the Lido buffet for breakfast and lunch (very good) where we always got a seat without any trouble and in the main dining room for most dinners, which were on the whole very good, the waiters working extremely hard. ENTERTAINMENT: There is a lot of talent on board with the resident band, and the duos Two Intense and Heart to Heart, who performed around the ship. Also I really enjoyed the young singing/dancing group of 10 guys and girls, when they performed the show “Africa” on the last night in the theatre. THE ITINERARY: The Aegean Meze itinerary was fabulous, and there were many great tours on offer which we thought were very good value and well organised. We visited Knossos on Crete, Delos from Mykonos, Ephesus and the House of Mary, from Kusadasi, and Athens from Piraeus, and they were all wonderful places. The weather was very kind to us, apart from thunderstorms on the morning we were in Kusadasi, but the rain soon cleared away. Our final stop in Katakolon we found to be really attractive and green, a good place to walk, with lots of interesting little shops and prices that were very reasonable to buy souvenirs. We are back on Celebrity next year as we had already booked a cruise to the Baltic, however in the future I am sure we will be back on a Marella cruise. Read Less

Let me start by saying I am very surprised at the Negative reviews I keep reading regarding this Ship. I do understand you cant please everyone but to slate it like others have I find quite surprising. I travelled with my Husband and we both had a fantastic week aboard. This was our first cruise. I felt very excided and we both were not disappointed when we saw the ship for the first time at Corfu port. Booked in smoothly, once we found our cabin we were both pleased with the size no problems there. Good shower. Staff and entertainment team worked so hard and we enjoyed all 7 evenings. Service on board was good, with very friendly staff. Also the Ship was very clean. FOOD, this is were I feel people are being very harsh. I am a Celiac which means I can't eat Gluten and let me tell you my clothes didn't fit me properly towards the end of our week. I never went hungry once, even Gluten Free Bread. We found the food to be hot, tasty with PLENTY of choice and I Thank You very much for catering for peoples different diets. It can't be easy. We will definitely be Cruising again with Thomson, the organization from start to finish was excellent. So Thank You for a fab week and see you soon. x Read Less

The staff can't do enough for you they are so pleasant always greet you with a smile. Cabin was just what you need no complaints, the steward was very nice ,our steward was called Joko ,a very pleasant chap. The ship was lovely, better than expected by reading some of the views on this page. The dining was superb ,we ate inthe orion a lot of the time where the waiter service was excellent, the food was always lovely and if you don't like what is on the menu you can order steak but you pay a supplement for this butit is worth it . We also ate in the lido a few times and the choice is great, quantity and quality is also great. The entertainment team were amazing up from early morning till late on into the wee small hours. The singer's in the waters edge are really good, they are called 2intense the thomson celebration are very lucky if they go there. I really enjoyed waking up each day in a different port, Argastoli in Kefalonia was my favourite port it was so calm ,very clean , I wouldn't mind a wee holiday there for a week .Disinformation went smooth until you go to corfu airport and its organised chaos ,you seem to wait in queues no matter where you go.All in all we had a brilliant cruise and do it all again in a heart beat, would recommend this cruise to anyone, nothing to complain about, and if you do then what can I say , your probably better spending your holidays at home. As I appreciated reading other people’s views on their cruises prior to departing, I thought I’d make a contribution of my own. In a nutshell, we enjoyed the cruise immensely, no real complaints at all and we intend to go on another one next year. Points Thomson did a good job getting us on the ship and our luggage was waiting for us outside our cabin. Unfortunately, we waited over 30 minutes to get checked in on board (to be fair they had 5/6 staff on the check in, it was just the volume of people that was joining the ship). At the check-in, you were encouraged to register a card to pay for your bar bill etc, hand in your passport (issued you with a receipt) and pay £15 to use the cabin safe for a week. We paid for an outside plus cabin, as it was our first cruise we liked the idea of being able to see outside. We glad we paid the premium; other people will no doubt have different views. The cabin was clean, well laid out, had a handy fridge, hairdryer, T.V., lots of cupboard space, small settee and a generous size double bed plus a powerful shower in the bathroom. If you were being harsh you could say the décor was a little dated, after all the “Dream” is a 30 year old ship. We appreciated “Mario” our cabin steward for a week; he did an excellent job in looking after us. Come to think of it, we found ALL the staff helpful and courteous during the cruise. They worked very hard in our opinion in ensuring the guests were well catered for (well that was our experience). First few days we were “encouraged” to upgrade to an all-inclusive drinks package, the cost would have been nearly £400 for the two of us (based on the number in your cabin). As a pint of lager (fosters) £3.95 and the cocktail of the day cost £4.20, for us it didn’t represent good value. Found out many guest had qualified for free all-inclusive drinks packages due to booking early. There was also a premium drink package for an additional £10 per person which enabled you to consume more branded alcoholic drinks – again you pay your monies……. We had no complaints regarding the choice and quality of the food; we had 4 meals at the Orion restaurant. This restaurant is more formal, with waiter service. On 3 occasions we were asked to share a table, personally it wasn’t an issue for us as it gave you the opportunity to get to know other guests. The Lido restaurant was where we personally had our breakfast as it was a help yourselves buffet and I certainly did (my wife was more restraint). For the sum of £47.95 each, we purchased a package to dine at the 3 more “exclusive” restaurants. As the standard restaurants were perfectly acceptable, you could argue that paying extra is a little excessive, however we certainly enjoyed the experience of the 3 meals, especially in the Mistral’s restaurant. The ship was FULL; the captain stated this at his gala on the Saturday. At times you had to queue, especially at peak times; having said that it was similar to many all-inclusive hotels we have been to. Also, there were always many staff serving and the queues (in our opinion) were handled efficiently. The entertainment on the cruise, especially in the Broadway Show Lounge was excellent and noting how full the theatre got, many hundreds of people had the same opinion! We would definitely recommend any guest to see one of the shows, well worth it. During the cruise we went on 3 Thomson excursions, whilst not cheap, they were all enjoyable and Thomson looked after us very well. As you may have surmised by now, we enjoyed our 1st cruise. We did have a few niggles, a very temperamental safe, which opened when it wanted to (not ideal when you needed access to it prior to going on an excursion!). The toilet which stopped flushing every few days (it uses a “vacuum “system to flush and blockages elsewhere stops your toilet from functioning!). Lastly, our cabin was “haunted”, as during the night you were woken up by “scratching” noises coming from the ceiling and walls. Was it a poltergeist, possible however, we felt it was more likely the air con piping; bizarrely you never heard the noise during the day! None of the above spoiled our 1st cruise experience, we enjoyed the ship, the staff and the people we met, thank you all on the Thomson Dream, and we certainly will book with you again. Read Less

My friend and I booked the Greek Island cruise to celerate our 50th birthdays, the itinery was changed to our advantage. We left Corfu and visited the following islands-Kalamata, Santorini, Rhodes, Crete, Pireus for Athens, Kefalonia and returned to Corfu (Wow is all I can say) Neither of us had been on a cruise before and the whole experience was amazing. When booking we upgraded to all inclusive (a must) the food in all areas of the ship was great, drinks were good quality and brand names incuded in the package. We ate in the Orion restaurant which was waiter service and the whole experince was fantastic, we dined alone and shared tables which resulted in us meeting lovely people. Everyone was extremely friendly, from the other holidaymakers to all staff on the ship, they work so hard and we appreciated all of their efforts. All itineray was well planned and your days information was delivered to your cabin the night before and maps were available with further detail in Destination Services next to Reception, all fool proof, listing buses, beaches, sights etc. Our cabin 5021 was spotless, we were treated to towel art and Imademe (sorry not sure if I have your name correctly spelt) was so lovely, helpful and friendly - thank you ! We saw an excellent show on board, spent every night in the Waters Edge bar and after the singing duo enjoyed the late disco. We met some fantastic people in there, couples, families and groups of all ages and loved every minute - the bar staff were great fun and one who I named John Travolta totally took over the dance floor and put us all to shame !!! I have one complaint, it came to an end. We stayed up late, got up early to enjoy every minute and I had to apologise to the comedian on our last morning as I had ran out of time and failed to see his show - next time ! What a week, I can honestly say we had a ball and I would book another cruise with Thomson in a heartbeat, thank you to everyone we met on the ship Read Less

We last sailed on the Dream 5 years ago, quite a few changes, some good some not so. Embarkation an disembarkation uneventful and smooth. Changes on the ship, the Waters Edge which used to be a teen club is now the area for the casino and bar with a small dance floor. Entertainment was good, apart from the shows which were a bit schmaltzy and the comedian old school. In house band was the best, really versatile. Cabin kept tidy, however no towel animals, unlike most others, I suppose it depends on the person looking after you. Our cabin was floor 5 at the aft, the thrusters/propellor noise was horrendous and woke us every morning so I'd recommend elsewhere, bed quite comfy. Dining, I feel sure there used to be 5 courses, now it's 3 in the Orion, portions just the right size and wine plentiful. We would have liked the same waiter every night but as we were a big party this must have been the reason. Another change was no Baked Alaska parade and no food exhibition. Shore excursions, we didn't get off at Kalamata, looked uninviting, Athens was a complete dump, went to the Acropolis but the queues so big we came back. Kefalonia was lovely as was Santorini except for the cruel people who chose to ride up on the Donkeys. Santorini very expensive, 8 euros for a milkshake! Rhodes was nice too. Lots of sunbeds available, except they were in full sun with no shade, another change was the sun room upstairs where the astro turf used to be, nice area offering a little shade and a bar in the area was very welcome. Cocktails 80% ice, prossecco nice, also beer, always something on the menu to try, would recommend the drinks package, another change is no signature for drinks (unless out of the package) which was far better. All in all pretty much what we expected lovely holiday Read Less

A special thanks to Rogie in the Orian Restaurant who was absolutely fantastic, so attentive as I must say everybody was. Mario was our cabin steward who was brilliant and left our room pristine every morning and evening. Having been on a Thomson Cruise in 2016 with my wife and family aboard the Thomson Spirit, we decided to book another this year having had such a great time last year. We chose the Dream because of the itinerary it offered, and the places and activities we experienced were all excellent. The two excursions we chose to go on we felt were good value for money, both the guides and transportation were efficient and informative. The Captain and the crew of the ship were both helpful and friendly, along with the entertainment and food which catered for all ages and tastes. We chose the Outside Plus Cabins which we found to be spacious and more than adequate for our needs as last year we had the Standard Outside cabin and the difference the larger window made meant there was less of a restricted view. The housekeeping staff were efficient and helpful dealing with any issues effectively whilst keeping the cabins clean and tidy at all times. We would defiantly recommend this type of holiday to our family and friends, and hopefully plan to go on another cruise in the future. Read Less

That night we ate in the buffet style dining room as we could not be bothered to get dressed up on our first night. After eating we sat and had a quiet drink and then walked to the theatre named the Broadway Lounge. This theatre looked grand compared to some we have visited in the past. Myself and my husband do have a passion for shows and like to travel to the West End at least once a month to watch professional shows. However, after reading recent reports on here of how 'low' the entertainment team perform I must say I completely disagree. The dancers, particularly the three small female dancers were exceptional and their performance skills were excellent. The only 'low' point for myself was that the show was not long enough. We did not attend the sail away party as we were so tired from our traveling. On return to our cabin our steward had already been in and pulled the sheets back and placed chocolates on each pillow. Our cabin was on the 8th deck and was an outside plus. It was spacious and clean but we had been in bigger cabins with previous ships. Over the next few days we explored some beautiful ports such as Rhodes, Santorini and Kefalonia but we did struggle with the heat but we shouldn't really complain of this. Rhodes was my favourite as it had some glorious buildings in the Old Town and we both felt that Thomsons gave us enough time to explore off the ship. The food was excellent and we spent the majority of the time eating breakfast in Sirons and the waiter served dining room each night. The foods each time were hot, creative and devine with the portions being small but adequate. The waiters were very kind and helpful and we got to know a few and they welcomed us each night to our table. Again we watched the entertainment all week in the theatre and although I said earlier the three girls were exceptional I did feel that the singers were too, the only weakness for me were the male dancers who could not lift the girls correctly or had the technique needed throughout the dances. My favourite shows were Africa and Moulon Rouge as I loved watching these three small girls dance especially the little blond girl who danced Roxanne, splendid!!!! However, my husband preferred the singing shows such as the cabaret ones. One of the boy singers we got speaking to during our stay and he was telling us how many weeks of rehearsing goes into these shows and how many shows they have to learn, when listening to them they sound very professional and need applauding. When he was speaking of the team it was interesting to know that two of the girls are sisters which when he pointed them out to me I would never have guessed!! We watched a group of them singing one night in the big lounge and again we were impressed. Although we are elderly many of the guests got up to dance and looked like they were having an amazing time. Again we evidence this on another night when a very small dark girl sang by herself, she may be tiny but she had a powerful voice and the guests were again dancing on the dance floor in front of her. With the food, the cabins and the entertainment excelling through our stay we have decided to rebook on this lovely ship for New Year and I cannot contain my excitement. Thank you everyone for allowing me to make some special memories with my dearest husband. Read Less

We chose this cruise, because we have always been happy with Thomsons and have travelled with them about eight times. We always look at the itineries,to find one that is calling at ports we haven't visited yet, obviously this becomes more difficult as time passes. The Greek islands have been on our to do list and we certainly were not disappointed. Our flight out and service at Corfu to join the ship ran very smoothly, our cabin was very well presented and staff were on hand to answer any queries. The restaurants are always fun with the staff being so kind and always smiling. The food and choice of menu were posted every day and we enjoyed the choices provided. The excursions were well organised, but we prefer to explore each destination ourselves,Santorini was very pretty and the cablecar was fun.Syros was very unexpected,no one seems to have visited or even heard of it before,we found a very beautiful place to visit, the locals were very helpful andeverywhere was so clean. We found a quiet little café where we could people watch and see the world sail by at the quay side.We would definitely visit again. The other destinations were Zante,Chania on Crete...very busy place with lots of character...and friendly people,we also called in at Marmaris too.The weather stayed fantastic all week which is always a bonus. Cannot rate this cruise highly enough. This was our first cruise and we didn't want a formal affair. We travelled as two families with teenage children. The flights and transfers to the ship were seemless. Once on the ship, the staff could not have been better - helpful, cheerful, efficient and genuinely seemed to want to ensure that every single passenger had the best time. Every member of staff from bar staff, catering staff, entertainers, ships officers, retail assistants, housekeeping staff all appeared to love their jobs and had the holidaymakers experience at the heart of everything they did. The ship is clean, there's plenty to do. Food was varied and on tape until midnight each night. Food was well presented and fresh despite the numbers catered for and the fact that it is available for 18 hours a day. The all inclusive package is to be recommended. So many times in the past all inclusive means watered down, cheap unbranded alternatives. This couldn't be further from the trust on the Dream. The all inclusive package at just £16 per day was such good value for money it was ridiculous. Excellent entertainment. The itinerary was brilliant - well organised with lots of information on excursions which could be arranged on the ship in advance via Thomson. If you wanted to do your own thing once ashore which is what we did, there was plenty of information available and recommendations on where to go for the best beaches, shopping, sights etc. All in all a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a formal environment, while one of the restaurants required formal attire, the atmosphere aboard is more casual but definitely suitable for families and those not wishing to dress up in black tie every night for dinner. From The moment that you step on-board you move into a bygone age of service the staff work tirelessly to ensure that ever guest feels special. Where nothing that is too much trouble and the guests whims are catered for from getting a drink to advise on the next port of call of events back home. The cabins were a lot bigger that I was expecting with space to relax if required. The bathroom is small but has everything you need. There is plenty of cupboard space to hang and store you suites and dresses there are a set of draws for everything else. We stored our cases under the bed where there was loads of space. We were a little worried about the amount of plugs in the cabin reading loads of stories and reviews on how bad ships are for such things. There were in fact 5 usable plugs in the room more than you find in most hotel rooms. We made use of the ones for the bedside lights to charge mobile phones just like I do at home. There is a good TV in the room that shares information about the ship and has music and TV channels to watch tip if you are staying in an inner cabin then the channel showing the view from the bridge is a must as they drop the lights at night so you are just left with a dark screen but with be light again in the morning showing you what the weather is doing. We found that the food on board was of a good standard with something for everyone we always found something to eat in the Lido. We enjoyed eating in the Orion restaurant with its more formal setting and full waiter service. There was only one formal night whilst we were on board where everyone dressed up in their finest and looking great. I know some people dislike this part of cruising but I think it shows the best in people that they participated in the spirit of days gone by sailing. Previsions were made for the guests that did not want to take part with service as normal in the Lido restaurant thought out the night. The entertainment on the ship is great from the shows to the singers and bands the whole ship rocks to the vibe of happy guests. The bar staff and waiters work tirelessly to ensure our glass is never empty and the good times flow. We had renovations about how much we would enjoy the whole experience of life at sea. Everyone in our party loved it and were asking when they could do it again. Book with confidence that you will have one of the best holidays you have ever had on board. Read Less

The poor reviews that I read were totally unfounded. Boarding was professional and not too time consuming. Orion restaurant had great service and excellent food at any of the three meals served daily. Tides bar for an evening drink had two of the best bar staff, Carlos and Daniel, both funny, witty and professional. Entertainment throughout the ship was good. The all inclusive drinks package is well worth the money. The cabin was faultless and special mention must go to Jerome for his friendship, hard work and towel sculptures. The shore excursions are a bit expensive but well organised. However in most ports there are open top buses for hop on hop off stations and audio head phones to inform you of the major sites for a fraction of the cost. Athens and Santorini excursions are a must but on the downside there was not enough time in Kalamata and Heraklion a disappointment hot and overcrowded. This is my second cruise on the Dream and I found it very well run and professional. I am a seasoned traveller and have no complaints regarding the ship or crew. The treatment at Corfu airport by the Thomson reps making customers stand in the blazing heat and issue wrong information as well as being an airport that would have been ok 30 years ago catering for the minority took the edge off an otherwise excellent holiday. We chose a cruise-stay holiday as our honeymoon, travelling on the Thomson Celebration 'Grecian Legends' cruise, then spending a week on Kalamota Island - we had the time of our lives. Neither of us had ever been on a cruise before and so were apprehensive about boat movement/sea sickness etc. These worries were completely unfounded, there was hardly any motion that we were aware of except for a little bit of choppiness on one night. We had also been lead by others into the mindset that cruises are for older folk and are stuffy and formal. Again, completely untrue! This particular cruise was adults only, but there were a few families with older teenagers on board, the age-range of the 1200 odd passengers was from about 16 to about 90! We met lots of people our own age, many celebrating their anniversaries, and a few also on honeymoon. There was one 'formal' gala evening, and everyone made a special effort to dress really well - some ladies wore cocktail dresses, and the gentlemen were in suits, shirts and jackets or tuxedos, but this wasn't compulsory. The Meridian restaurant has an expectation that men should wear long trousers, but this isn't unusual in our experience in hotel restaurants, so wasn't a big deal. The ship itself was well kept up together, clean and tidy in good repair. Our cabin was small (as you would expect), but perfectly adequate for our needs - we opted for a deluxe outside cabin in the centre of deck 3 - we could have chosen something more 'upmarket' but didn't see the need. Our chambermaid, Eblin, kept our cabin spick and span for us, making amusing animals out of our towels each day - she was friendly and helpful and always seemed to be there, hardworking girl! The staff all over the ship were solicitous to everyone's needs, taking very good care of all of the passengers and keeping the environment tidy and pleasing. We were serenaded by some of the waiters (Erwin and co) one evening in the Meridian restaurant, much to our embarrassment and their clear delight! The crew were also helpful and friendly, we had the special privilege of meeting and sitting with Captain Jason, a very genuine and entertaining man, on his gala evening, and also some other lovely crew members on the 'Sail Away' from Kotor on the final evening. By far our favourite member of the crew was Elaine, who worked so hard to make our honeymoon extra-special by organising lots of treats for us throughout the week - she really was amazing, and we are so grateful to her for everything she did for us. We were very impressed with the food and entertainment on board. We had a 'drinks on us' package provided by Thomson which meant that we were essentially AI. There were a few drinks that carried a surcharge, but there was such a huge choice of inclusive options that we didn't miss anything. The food was excellent - so much choice and available all day long. The Lido, a buffet-style restaurant, offered plenty of options, and the Meridian had menus and waiter-service. There were also other a la carte restaurants that were not AI, but we didn't visit them - the food and service was excellent at both of the inclusive options, and we were more than happy with them! The entertainment we caught was of a very high standard, some of the best we have ever seen while on holiday. We had the luxury of being able to pay for an excursion every day, and so got to see and experience so many different places. They were pricey, and if it wasn't our honeymoon we might not have been able to do it. We would also agree with other reviewers that the day in Corinth could shape up to be very disappointing if you aren't able/prepared to pay for an excursion - there is nothing there to do on a Sunday. That aside, we got to see Athens and the Acropolis and the ruins at Delphi. We went on the Game of Thrones tour in Dubrovnik (essential, if you're a fan), looked over the old town from a cable car and walked the city walls. We fell in love with Corfu, and visited the sea caves via a boat trip. We drove up a crazy road in Montenegro with 25 switchback corners to sample local foods and beer, and swam in the sea at Budvar. And, thanks to Elaine, we were invited to be part of a private party on the uppermost deck, with champagne and canapes, as we sailed out of the fjord at Kotor - one of the most beautiful and spectacular sights we have ever seen, and a memory that will stay with us forever. So - did we enjoy our first cruise? It was an absolutely perfect beginning to our honeymoon - busy for all of the right reasons. We were so well taken care of, and are thankful to everyone on the Celebration who worked so hard to make it such a special experience. Read Less

Ports of call offered Greece and Turkey. We had previously sailed on the Thomson Island Escape 2 years ago, and the Dream offered a ship which had improved on all of the bits I wasn't happy about last time. Bigger ship with 2 pools; more lounges; more forms of entertainment each evening; waiters serving meals; a larger theatre; bingo games inside instead of at the pool; a Gala Dinner, etc. Having already done a Thomsons Cruise, this time we were more switched on and aware. We were able to find sunloungers earlier on the day at sea. Going into the theatre earlier to get a good seat. Going to dinner at 7.00 pm in order to get to watch the entertainment. We loved the fun throughout the afternoon at the adults pool. Then we used to go to the back of the ship to watch the sailaway each night. And at the back of the ship the casino kept my husband busy while I enjoyed a singer and watched the sunset. The service, menu and food in the waiter service restaurant was fantastic. But we heard other passengers complain and I can only assume that they are fussy or have sailed on much more expensive ships! We paid extra for a table at the posh restaurant and enjoyed a 7 course meal, fantastic, never eaten so much!! £15 or £20 options. Gala dinner was nice to dress up. I had my hair put up for £30. Massages started from £40. We were given a free all-inclusive package when we booked and enjoyed premium drinks including so many cocktail choices. We enjoyed every minute. Yes there were staff who took an unbelievable amount of time to fry one burger! Yes there were queues for coffee. Yes they ran out of cutlery. We found each member of staff to be so helpful and kind. Not for a tip. Read Less

This was only our second cruise. We were attracted by the destinations and reputation for not being too formal.also entertainment. We were not disappointed we had an outstanding holiday from start to finish. Ship info An old ship but quality, it's smaller size allowed access to some simply stunning ports, Kotor, koper, korcula,Venice, sibenik to name but a few. Wonderful destinations. Activities - always something going on, darts golf, bingo, particularly enjoyed the curling and quizzes.gym and spa small but fairly functional. Service- quite exceptional all staff friendly, attentive, always willing to help. This ranged from cleaning staff, cabin stewards, bars, restaurants, entertainment team require a particular mention, always smiling, engaging and helpful. Port & shore excursions Particularly enjoyed the cycling did several, however need to be aware a basic level of fitness and cycling experience is in our view essential. Travel to embarkation port- excellent only little drawback was we took cases to Birmingham airport night before as per itinerary however carrier declined to accept them. Once cases booked in next time we saw them was in our cabin, excellent service. Don't forget to keep some essential items in your hand luggage, I.e. Medication, toiletries etc. Cabin - no 052 Neil Armstrong suite. Restricted view partial station for lifeboat, no issues though, very spacious, ample wardrobe and drawers. Loads of coat hangers.coffee tea. Mini fridge bar. Dining- Meridian was a super restaurant, varied menu each night, first class service good selection of wines. Avoid busy times about 8:30 pmif you want to avoid queuing . We also ate at hot stone and excellent service and we thought the supplement was worth it for a special occasion. Excursions - only did a few cycling very good and well organised, walking tour of koper very informative. Adult only- this suited us and we found the overall cruise experience first class. Entertainment - Quite simply outstanding we saw 10 different shows something for everyone's taste. The effort in rehearsals certainly showed in the highly professional performances living up to the Broadway billing. The cabaret and deck parties had everyone dancing , singing entertainment was a real highlight of the cruise for us. The team were also very visible throughout the day on many other activities, classes library, quizzes etc. Disembarkation - very efficient settled our account evening before departure. Cases packed left outside cabin by 0300 we then joined them at our arrival airport. Summary Outstanding, highly recommended will now try the other ships in Thomson fleet. Read Less

Our room was wonderful spacious clean and comfy! - Cleaned everyday by a wonderful man whom we never got the name of! Food was lovely would highly recommend the panini station at lunch and Freddie at the ice-cream station always greets you with a smile and a laugh! The staff are a real credit to the ship I couldn't think of a bad word to say about them always helpful friendly and attentive. The show team are spectacular and clearly work very hard to entertain each evening! The stops were all OK but Kotor was really wonderful a beautiful town. We did a seascape photoshoot with Damien which I would recommend - great fun and lovely guy.. £40 for one photo though was abit steep lovely though the photos were! Can't think of anything negative to say about the ship would 100% recommend! Read Less
