The transfers from start to finish, were smooth. We even were allowed to move cabin and stay on later on the last day, to save us having to wait at the airport for hours for our flight. This cost £35 per person and was well worth it. This was the best cruise I have been on.I liked that it was much smaller ship and that it was older. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you.The food was good and plenty of choice. The cabin was spotless and the lad that did for us, Lewis, deserves a special mention, for being so good at his job and going out of his way to help us when ever he could. The ship was clean and tidy and as it's an older ship yes some of the toilets could have a bit of a whiff about them at times. However given the amount of people they serve I think that can be expected , on a whole though they to were spotless and clean. I really enjoyed it, and hope to go again next year. Read Less

The staff are fantastic they cannot do enough for you they won’t pass you without asking if you’re okay or a good day or good night I would like to give a special mention about pity ardika on deck 9 he waited on us st the bar and was so friendly and helpful and we’ll be coming back if only to see putu! The facilities on board are very good in fact we didn’t get to use every bar/lounge on ship so although it is not as big as a lot of ships we saw on our travels she’s just the right size for us ! It was our 1st cruise and we thought it was a great experience the entertainment staff catering bar staff cabin staff highly recommended would do it again .would recommend it to other 1st time cruisers as well only thing we didnt like was that you was unable to watch england games in the world cup tournament and to have wifi would be rather expensive the captains announcements were very clear and accurate information. My wife unfortunately broke her ankle while we were in rome and the medical staff were great and was Amanda of entertainment who came with us to th hospital while we docked in palermos spain also the very kind taxi drivers who took great care with us .I travelled with my with and mother in law and none of us had been on a cruise before we would do it again one year liked it very much. Pick up from airport was hassle free, once we put our luggage on the bus we did not touch them again as they were delivered to our cabin. Our cabin number 1020 was fab lovely big cabin and lovely and clean. Our cabin steward Bagus was amazing he kept the place spotless. There a numerous bars on board all with very good entertainment the cruise director Taylor and his team did a fabulous job in ensuring that everyone has a good time. If I had to pick something it would be that the Broadway shows could be better. Bars staff are amazing and work extremely hard, staff that should out forme were Jodie and Roland in the Wave bar. Food was ok the sirens was by far the best place to eat, the worst was the Orion I expected better for a waiter served restaurant. We had steak one day and I asked for it medium rare only to be told it comes one way, having heard my parents rave about to food in this restaurant I was expecting better. The chocolate extravaganza was not like it used to be in fact it was very poor. If I had to make a recommendation it would be to open the Sirens in the evening and allow guest to access one of the 3 Alcarte restaurants free of charge during their stay. Read Less

Choose this cruise because of destination and price for our party. Getting there was a bit of a nightmare because of the bad weather and closure of Dublin airport. We elected to book alternative flights from Belfast which did get out and we got to Tenerife in time to embark. We had inside cabins on deck 7 which were clean and very pleasant throughout our cruise. We did have 1 night when the water was off for maintenance but this was no problem as work took place late at night. We ate at buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch and at Orion in the evening. We did try kora la the Asian restaurant which was excellent. Would have liked to try the others but couldn’t get booked. The choice of food at all restaurants we ate at was excellent and served every taste. We had the all inclusive drinks package and didn’t feel the need to upgrade as it was adequate for and offered cocktails, wine, prosecco and spirits as choices. Entertainment while not west end show standard, was good and we thoroughly enjoyed the visiting artist Mark Daniels. We enjoyed the evening game shows which required the involvement of passengers - they were good fun. There was always live music in the different bars. Thought the option of the card room and quiet room with jigsaws was good. The coffee bar explorer was a popular spot and we never got to use it as it was always too busy for our group of 6 to get a seat. The ports were excellent - especially Madeira. Wasn’t keen on Agadir but the bad weather probably didn’t help.we did miss out on las Palma because of delay in getting all passengers on board but this wasn’t a problem. Everyone got on board credit as compensation which we found most generous. We did take ships excursions at Madeira and Agadir. Found everyone from our cabin steward to the ships officers to be very pleasant and always smiling - happy to stop and chat or give direction as needed. Read Less

This is the worst cruise we have ever had in all our days of cruising. The first 2 nights our room thermostat was broken and it was freezing, when it was fixed it went the other way and was really hot, finally a new one was put in. The 4th night the toilet overflowed and raw sewage was all over the floor. Our cabin was on deck 7 and at the rear of the ship, wow the ship just vibrated and everything in the room just vibrated all night, the only time it stopped was when we were in port. We were right under a nightclub, and fair enough the band stopped at midnight, then it was the turn of the disco till 3-4 in the morning, if you go stay away from that area. When the ship was in port most days the crew would do there duties, like painting and so forth, but a needle gun chipping the old paint off and a angle grinder making all that noise, it was like being at work. The worst bit for me was on the morning we had to leave the ship, I must have eaten some thing odd, we left the ship at 8-30 and our flight back was at 12-40, we took off and I couldn't wait to go to the toilet, I spent most of the journey home in the toilet being sick and diarrhoea, spent 4 days in bed and the doctor said it was food poisoning. This was all told to TUI in a e-mail and the reply back was what I expected, in so many words of quoting " the terms and conditions" nothing can be done, SO SORRY, and you can get sick on holiday, so they say. My advice stay away from TUI . cheep yes but can be nasty James Read Less

Took this short pre-Christmas cruise with my husband and another couple. We booked last minute and had never been with Marella before, only P&O. Our cabin was quite roomy with plenty of storage. We had a bath and a pretty powerful shower. It is dated and in need of a refurb but kept exceptionally clean. We were all inclusive and paid extra to upgrade our drinks package, if you like a drink I would recommend doing this as it's very good value for money, as well as all alcoholic drinks it entitles you to go to the coffee shop for speciality coffees and water is delivered to your cabin each day. The main dining room on the 4th deck is excellent, the service was sometimes a little slow but the food was good and always hot. The buffet restaurant on the 9th deck was what you expect at a buffet, hit and miss but most meals were fine. We ate here or the buffet by the pool on deck 11 both were fine. Entertainment was fine, quizzes mostly if you didn't want to go into the theatre. we enjoyed the shows that we did see, very professional. Overall I would recommend The Dream and old ship, but friendly and clean. We will certainly travel with Marella again. Read Less

Thomson Dreamliner is a fantastic plane. Lots of leg room and free food and drink during the flight. But, what started well, ended badly. The Jamaican airport was hot, humid, crowded and queued. No where to sit, no air conditioning, no water and no where to rest in a confined corridor containing hundreds of people. Tempers flared after hours waiting to get to embarkation and some felt faint. A musical group from the island greeted us at the ship but the singer was out of tune and the musicians seemed fed up of playing it took that long for everyone to board. The buffets were always full of food and refreshments and the restaurant was great for an evening meal. However, the food was mostly overcooked, warm at best when eating and not very tasty in all the eateries. I did not like the fact you helped yourself to buffet with tongs. It would have been more hygienic to have been given the food by buffet staff. Despite the fact the ship had antibacterial dispensers throughout, many passengers ignored them. I had a bad tummy in the middle of the first week and was told by a passenger that the ship had had Noro virus aboard the week before resulting in the closure of the Jacuzzis. I was also by other passengers that many people were being treated for a bad cough, an outbreak which had been on board since December with antibiotic drips having to be issued for pneumonia and also that 5 people had died on board during this time. Myself and my husband both went home with a bad cough at the end of the cruise. One woman was badly burnt by a soot gob that had been blown from the ship's funnel. Many passengers had broken their arms whilst on board. Health and safety was an issue as I saw a crew member carrying two stacks of cups on his tray down a spiral staircase. Smoking was allowed on the decks which was very quickly extended to inside the ship and door areas by smokers who ignored the rules. It was hard to get away from cigarette smoke on the deck areas. We found it very difficult to get a sun lounger before 10am and these were hogged by selfish passengers all day despite the fact that they were not using them for hours. The ship had an overcrowded feel during the sea days and the days were quite strained. The behavior of some of the passengers was terrible despite their mature years. Tempers flared and a fight broke out over the use of a lift which carried on in the sun deck. There was a lot of foul language used by some of the down to earth types which did offend other passengers with their rudeness at times. Some of the deck flooring was bubbled and torn. The first port was La Romana. I wish I had stayed aboard the ship. We were transported by shuttle to the nearby town and was immediately bombarded by very persistent venders that were very intimidating. We all immediately got right back on the bus and returned to the ship. This port did not match the description at all. My favourite ports were St Maartin and Antigua. Shops were wonderful and there were many nice places to go. The Virgin Islands were a little boring as we had not been able to book a tour but on returning to the ship many passengers were disappointed with their trips here. One had gone to see whales and was told by locals that whales are a rare sight in April as they don’t arrive until June when the season for them starts. We did see some flying fish and dolphins on the sea days. Gibraltar is a nice place but there was very little time to visit more than one venue as the ship departs at 2pm and we had to be back on board by 1:30. We were talked out of using the cable car by the port taxi drivers who said that we would not have time to use it. The port inspector confirmed this when asked to back up the statements but on speaking to the tourist visitor centre they said we would have had plenty of time to use it. So I think we were conned into using them at a cost. To sum up, I personally quite enjoyed my time on this cruise but I know that quite a few other passengers were very disappointed and if rumors were correct some did not return at all. Read Less

Forgot to write a review at the time but just want to say what a fantastic cruise we had! We did the transatlantic from the canaries over to the Caribbean. It was our first cruise and we loved every minute of it. The ship was great- very clean, great food, fantastic staff! The entertainment was out of this world, wouldn't find better in the West End! We were in an outside plus cabin which was a great size for 3 adults. The theme of our cruise was big band and we enjoyed music by the fantastic Greg Francis Orchestra! I did the river tubing excursion in Grenada with Thomson which was such good fun, would highly recommend it to others. As it was Christmas time, they ran a gingerbread house decorating competition and we won a trip to the hot stone restaurant on board. The Atlantic crossing was so calm, you wouldn't have even known you were on a boat. The whole process was made so easy from the beginning from being picked up from the airport and escorted to our cabin to them holding the plane on the way home due to the transfer bus being delayed by traffic. I wish I could go back and relive every moment of the cruise as it was so magical and really was a dream...can see where it gets it name! The passengers on the ship are so friendly and have even stayed in contact with a few. So impressed by Thomson that have booked another cruise around the canaries at the end of March 2016. Read Less

Recently went on a Thomson Dream back to back cruise sailing from Palma. Overall we had a fantastic time and our worries were totally unfounded. As with many other passengers we to had watched the BBC review last year on Watchdog. Our cruise party consisted of eight passengers, two had never cruised before while four others had cruised with Celebrity last year and my wife and myself who have now cruised four times on four different lines (Previously Celebrity, Ocean Village, Island Cruises). From the time we embarked to our dis-embarkment the crew were fantastic the entertainment was geared up for British passengers which was probably 95% if not more of the total passengers on board. The food was excellent in the Orion restaurant an there was also a good selection in the buffet restaurants, although we did prefer the more formal waiter service in the Orion. The ship was looking a little tired in a few places but the main areas were good and you can see there is work in progress to improve facilities. One main concern was the before we cruised was the toilet facilities especially on the pool decks and public areas which we thought may be dodgy after watching the watchdog review but it was obvious that these had been completely refurbished and our worries were unfounded. The overall atmosphere on the ship was great which was night and day compared to Celebrity where people seemed afraid to let their hair down and were more concerned with their own self importance. My wife and I were worried that the ship may be a let down for the people in our party who had only on Celebrity Four of our party had only been on Celebrity Eqinox before but they much preferred the Thomson Dream and apart from the obvious size of the ship in comparison thought that most of the amenities were similar. The only possible downside to the cruise was probably the very busy itinerary of ports, we could of done with maybe an extra day at sea as it began to get a little tiring as the two weeks went on. I suppose it was our choice to visit every port though! As mentioned before the ship is obviously a work in progress for Thomson and if they continue to renew some of the older more tired parts of the ship I do not see why there would be any compaints. The cabins were nice and spacious but the bath, although very clean, had seen better days as had some of the corridor carpets are worn other than that everything seemed in good order. I would recommend this ship to anyone who likes to be entertained in a friendly atmosphere. The all inclusive package was also good, although I'm not really sure that it was included in the price as advertised when we booked as the cuise was not cheap at any stretch of the imagination!! Lastly, a big thank you to Dennis, Thom and Alan who looked after us in the Orion Restaurant and provided a memorable night for one of our party on her Birthday. Overall a great holiday!!! I obviously can't speak for everyone who has sailed on the dream, but i do think some people get on the ship and concentrate all their time on finding faults. On one of the previous reviews, one of the passengers complained that the only place on the ship to get any peace and quiet was in his cabin.Did he not visit the argo lounge, the library, the deck behind ladontes or the side of the ship which was decked out with sunbeds and a lot of snoring. The word nitpicking springs to mind. Well humpty,jumpty.trumpty,stumpty.grumpty and lumpty had an unbelievable time. Let me start with negatives.Thomson should employ someone to look after sunbeds because far too many people put towels on sunbeds and then get off the ship to visit a port and return 6 hrs later. You then see people walking round the ship looking for a sunbed which can cause friction. Also you can get an odd whiff but very rarely. Trips are a bit expensive and some of the ports repetetive and boring. Positives. Staff fantastic, food amazing.entertainment unbelieveable. You really have to try and vary your options of an evening to take everything in.Quizzes of an afternoon in sirens and evening in the medusa were a great laugh. The shows in the amazing atlanta theatre were of a really high standard, great dancers, great voices, some really talented people. Auctions, comedians, bingo wahay, competitions, karaoke, you really could not ask for much more. If like us you are on the all inclusive package, you will not be disappointed, but be warned,do not go to casino after a few too many, because when my bill came under the door my missus found it first,oh oh. The only people who were'nt smiling on board were professional whingers. The captain was also good for a laugh and we will definitely be sailing on the old lady again.Agood time was had by all. P.S.9 euros return to rome if you go by train 45 mins. Read Less
