We chose this cruise because we had been on the Dream twice before and we were quite happy with it so we thought it a good prospect to go with the Dream again. Two people in our party of four needed assistance with walking any distance or standing for long periods especially through airport security or standing in queues. My wife (rods and screws in her back) and the other person in our party with a disability (Parkinsons) requested well in advance when the holiday was booked that some assistance would be needed at the airport for reasons mentioned. I won't go into details but in Aberdeen going out and in Corfu on arrival the assistance was not there with both people abandoned at the airport. On arrival back in Aberdeen we waited one hour at the carousel to collect our luggage. There were good points and not so good points about the trip as far as the cruise was concerned. Our cabin was on deck 5. We had booked a cabin with a window. It looked like areas of the cabin had not been dusted for weeks. The shower leaked at the spray head where the washer had perished and a poor attempt had been made with plumber's tape to fix it. The main shower head didn't spray properly and water went everywhere. I gave up and just strip washed instead. However our cabin steward was very friendly and helpful and tidied the room twice daily apart from the dust. Dirty towels were replaced every day with clean towels. There was dust in many areas of the ship which was not there on previous cruises. I only once saw a crewman with a spray and a duster whereas previously the ship was continually cleaned. The entertainment each evening was a bit of a let down since some of the male singers couldn't pitch their notes or keep their keys. The female singers and dancers were excellent but this only made the males appear to be tone deaf. On a happier note the four of us dined morning and evening in the Orion restaurant where the food was freshly cooked and served with great enthusiasm by the waiters. There was plenty of coffee or tea and cold water at any time of the day. My wife and I went on two excursions and the prices had gone up a bit from last year. However the excursions were very interesting and informative with excellent tour guides who knew their subject very well. Greek people are very welcoming and don't hassle you in the streets like the Turkish people do where every few yards there is a hawker who can't take no for an answer. WiFi in cafes are free but £50 per week on the ship. The shops in the ship are cheaper than the shops ashore - watch for special prices and bargains. We noticed some changes since last year. The crew all wore smart uniforms instead of the Bahama shirts as previously. There seemed to be less crew and they didn't sing or joke this year but went through a process but the joy seemed to have gone. We noticed that there were no more trays to carry your food to the table and the water glasses were a fraction of the size. At the end of the cruise the process of transfers went smoothly and the assistance was better to help the disabled onto the plane and also on return to Aberdeen. Would we go on Marella Dream again? No! Read Less

We’ve just returned from a really lovely Aegean Meze cruise on the Dream, staying in one of the new balcony cabins. We booked quite late for this holiday. Quite new to cruising, we have sailed with Celebrity in the past and very much like it, but the Meze fitted in with our timescale. So it was our first cruise with Thomson/Marella, although we have in the past enjoyed excellent package holidays with Thomson. So in spite of some poor reviews of the ship (which all companies receive from time to time) we were quite confident of having a good holiday and went with an open mind. Now we are back home we feel we would definitely sail with Thomson/Marella again and are reluctant to rule out the Dream, but sadly, next time we would probably look for a ship with a wider range and location of balconies. The Dream is a lovely, well maintained, older style ship and the crew are second to none, with good food and a great itinerary. The vast majority of people seemed to be having a wonderful time and so did we. I must emphasize how much we both enjoyed the cruise. But we always choose a balcony cabin, and the problem was that the new balcony cabins had been placed towards the back of the ship, presumably over where the engines are. That’s why we noticed a fair bit of vibration at night and this seemed to be amplified by the metal or whatever the fabric of the walls and ceiling was, which tended to rattle. My husband has hearing aids and once they were out the rattle did not seem to worry him, but I sometimes had trouble getting off to sleep. Noise from busy deck 8, where the shops and much of the entertainment is held, was not a problem because the cabins were down their own corridor, but the dividing walls of the balcony cabins were very thin and so it was possible to hear quite a lot from the next door cabins. I think that when everyone realised this, we all tried not to make much noise, so it wasn’t too bad. Also I am sure that there are people who have stayed in these cabins and who have not noticed any problem, but our experience is as above. Otherwise, the cabin had plenty of space and was clean and well kept. It’s worth noting that towards the midship and the front, there was no vibration so I am sure that any cabins sited here would be better from the noise point of view, if you are not bothered about having a balcony. A more detailed review is as follows: BOOKING: We had booked by telephone, which brought us to the Manchester office and the girls there were really efficient! That was a really good first impression. If they had to find something out, they would ring us back which was most helpful. When booking cruises with Cebrity, we have had to hang on for ages while something was checked out, or be passed from one operator to another. Not so with Thomson. Everything was sorted out to our satisfaction and the paperwork received promptly. Wonderful. We would definitely book again with them! TRAVEL: It was the first time we had done a fly-cruise as we normally sail from Southampton, but the journey went well. Living in Norfolk we could fly from Norwich, and found that at all stages of the journey to the ship there was a representative there to point us in the right direction. At Corfu we were directed to a coach straight away, handed over our luggage and were driven to the port terminus building where we checked in. We were on the ship less than an hour after the plane landed. IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP: We had landed at dusk and it was dark by the time we approached the ship, which was all lit up and looking very attractive with its fairy lights. On entering we were greeted in a friendly way and the ship was spotless. We went straight to the cabin for a brief moment before heading off to the dining room and our cases were just arriving. We always choose to have a balcony as it gives us a bit of private space and we like to see the sea. So we had been delighted to be able to book one on the Dream as there are only a few of them. It was of a good size and very clean and sweet smelling, kept pristine by Bambang, our lovely and friendly attendant. The shower was of a good size and with a sliding door. The bed was large and there was plenty of hanging and drawer space. So far so good. There was a lot going on on the ship with a good band, the Top Men, playing for the sailaway, too loudly for us codgers but talented nonetheless. In the dining room and elsewhere we loved the older, retro type of fittings and brass light shades and fittings. In other reviews, remarks have been made about rust and smells, but to us the ship looked well maintained, spotlessly clean and not offensive to the nose. The ship appeared “old style” (rather than “old”, meaning past it, as some reviewers have alleged). There was also a lovely promenade deck to walk on. We did not use the pools or the sun loungers, but there appeared to be plenty of the latter around the ship. There was always cleaning going on and everything gleamed. STAFF: I cannot speak too highly of the staff and the crew. Everyone was really lovely, friendly and helpful and intent on making our holiday the best. We would certainly sail with Thomson, or Marella, again for this reason alone, if not on the same ship. OTHER PASSENGERS: Whereas on our Celebrity cruises we have sailed with a multinational crowd, which is also nice, on the Dream they seemed to be mainly Brits from all corners of the UK with a mixture of families, it being half term, younger and older couples. There was a really nice homely atmosphere and nearly everyone seemed to be having a great time. There were some issues, I understand with the toilets, but the staff seemed to be trying to put them right as quickly as possible. FOOD: It being mainly for the Brits, the type of food did mainly cater for the British, with choices such as lasagne or couscous salad which are nowadays part of British fare as well as the usual British grub. We don’t have any special needs so I couldn’t comment on those; but I have to say that we did eat extremely well, and most of the time we enjoyed our food as much as we have done on the Celebrity ship that is renowned for its dining. We did note the absence of anything like a themed evening, for example for Greek or Turkish food during the cruise, seeing that we were visiting these countries, but we did come home several pounds heavier anway! We did not bother with any of the speciality restaurants, mainly eating in the Lido buffet for breakfast and lunch (very good) where we always got a seat without any trouble and in the main dining room for most dinners, which were on the whole very good, the waiters working extremely hard. ENTERTAINMENT: There is a lot of talent on board with the resident band, and the duos Two Intense and Heart to Heart, who performed around the ship. Also I really enjoyed the young singing/dancing group of 10 guys and girls, when they performed the show “Africa” on the last night in the theatre. THE ITINERARY: The Aegean Meze itinerary was fabulous, and there were many great tours on offer which we thought were very good value and well organised. We visited Knossos on Crete, Delos from Mykonos, Ephesus and the House of Mary, from Kusadasi, and Athens from Piraeus, and they were all wonderful places. The weather was very kind to us, apart from thunderstorms on the morning we were in Kusadasi, but the rain soon cleared away. Our final stop in Katakolon we found to be really attractive and green, a good place to walk, with lots of interesting little shops and prices that were very reasonable to buy souvenirs. We are back on Celebrity next year as we had already booked a cruise to the Baltic, however in the future I am sure we will be back on a Marella cruise. Read Less

Let me start by saying I am very surprised at the Negative reviews I keep reading regarding this Ship. I do understand you cant please everyone but to slate it like others have I find quite surprising. I travelled with my Husband and we both had a fantastic week aboard. This was our first cruise. I felt very excided and we both were not disappointed when we saw the ship for the first time at Corfu port. Booked in smoothly, once we found our cabin we were both pleased with the size no problems there. Good shower. Staff and entertainment team worked so hard and we enjoyed all 7 evenings. Service on board was good, with very friendly staff. Also the Ship was very clean. FOOD, this is were I feel people are being very harsh. I am a Celiac which means I can't eat Gluten and let me tell you my clothes didn't fit me properly towards the end of our week. I never went hungry once, even Gluten Free Bread. We found the food to be hot, tasty with PLENTY of choice and I Thank You very much for catering for peoples different diets. It can't be easy. We will definitely be Cruising again with Thomson, the organization from start to finish was excellent. So Thank You for a fab week and see you soon. x Read Less

No sleep for first three night due to noisy mechanical faults in corridor affecting eight cabins in a row, blocked toilets everywhere on board, water coming up through vent in showe least 2 inches deep. Workmen outside cabin for three days unable to fix the faults. Filthy sunloungers covered in food spilt drinks etc these loungers never wiped over before they was put away. The smell of dirty old fat with poor quality food from the outside Liddo bar, inside the Liddo restaurant was average to poor quality food barely warm daily. The Medusa restaurant average food again not hot. Dirty decking areas from spilt drinks with glasses remaining from two nights before. False advertising and misleading pricing in the on board shop, lipsticks clearly priced direct underneath the item with NO other items in the window at £6.50 but in the shop priced as £16.50, manager uncooperative and rude when this was pointed out. This is only the tip of the iceberg, I have photos to support everything I have stated. This was our very first cruise but we went with my sister who has been on 20 cruises and the second time on this ship, she couldn't believe how standards have fallen and how must smaller the all inclusive package had gotten, all inclusive doesn't mean that at all. There is a definite feeling of TUI (Thompson) crabbing every penny they can and even misleading people to get it. We chose our cabins with 20 cruises worth of experience and paid £47 each more to ensure peace and tranquility, how wrong could we have been. I don't take any medication at all but after three nights with very little sleep I had to result in asking another passenger foe sleeping tablets. The all inclusive package was reduced and difficult to work out with staff making mistakes resulting in passengers being billed. The itinerary was changed from Turkey to Greece disappointed we still chose to go only to have the new itinerary cut short due to late docking or no docking at all in Rhodes, this was due to the tug breakdown. This ship goes for a complete refurbishment in November and quite frankly it is in desperate need of it now, our cabin number was 5022 through to 5038 all suffered the same troubles. Read Less

We chose this cruise as this was our first time and we didn't want our holiday to be to formal.we flew from Glasgow to corfu, no hitches, arrived at corfu was met by thomson reps ,they told us where to go,was given all the documents for our cabins and luggage got to the ship and demonstration was straight forward. The staff can't do enough for you they are so pleasant always greet you with a smile. Cabin was just what you need no complaints, the steward was very nice ,our steward was called Joko ,a very pleasant chap. The ship was lovely, better than expected by reading some of the views on this page. The dining was superb ,we ate inthe orion a lot of the time where the waiter service was excellent, the food was always lovely and if you don't like what is on the menu you can order steak but you pay a supplement for this butit is worth it . We also ate in the lido a few times and the choice is great, quantity and quality is also great. The entertainment team were amazing up from early morning till late on into the wee small hours. The singer's in the waters edge are really good, they are called 2intense the thomson celebration are very lucky if they go there. I really enjoyed waking up each day in a different port, Argastoli in Kefalonia was my favourite port it was so calm ,very clean , I wouldn't mind a wee holiday there for a week .Disinformation went smooth until you go to corfu airport and its organised chaos ,you seem to wait in queues no matter where you go.All in all we had a brilliant cruise and do it all again in a heart beat, would recommend this cruise to anyone, nothing to complain about, and if you do then what can I say , your probably better spending your holidays at home. We have been on 2 Thomson cruises in the last couple of years, Island escape and discovery, both cruises were perfect, great food, great service and friendly atmosphere, so this year we decided to do the Aegean meze on the dream expecting the same level of service and good quality of food, We were disappointed on both fronts. We arrived fairly late on the first day so only had one option for eating, Sirens buffet restaurant, our first impressions were not good, the seats were dirty, more like a works canteen than a restaurant, the ship is small and as expected the restaurants are also small with little room in sirens for a wide selection of food as such there was not much to choose from, the food in the serving area's looks unappetizing is tepid and flavourless, We never saw any galley staff check the temperature of the food, we doubted the food would pass any food hygiene audits. We did not eat in Sirens again, The other buffet restaurant on a lower deck was cleaner but the food was the same bland and tepid food, we preferred to eat in when we went ashore, as a consequence we were always hungry. The Bar service was terrible, we had a choice of waiting 20 minutes or more at the bar or wait longer for a passing waiter, the times we managed to order from a waiter they often got the orders wrong or failed to deliver at all, at one stage I ordered a drink from a waiter and then went to get a drink from a neighbouring bar where the queues were a little smaller when the waiter had not returned after half an hour, to find when I returned my wife had got a drink, not the drink she ordered from the waitress but mine failed to materialize. Another time the waiter forgot what we had ordered and had to return to ask again, he had only taken 2 steps before forgetting again. Having said that, the staff were friendly and seemed to be happy with a good sense of team work amongst the staff and crew. The entertainments teams were professional and worked hard to ensure the passengers had a good time. The showteam were good with some decent shows, but not as good as we had seen on past cruises. The cabin was clean and spacious and the cabin crew worked long hours and did there best to make us comfortable, nothing was too much trouble and they were always smiling. This cruise has really put us off Thomson/Marella/TUI, we are looking to book with another cruise line for next year. Our complaints to thomson have not been met with a good response so I have to give customer service a big thumbs down. Our fellow passengers were mostly friendly, we met some great people on board which did go a long way to making our holiday better. Read Less

We booked Thomson due to previous experiences, but on arrival the room was filthy and very dusty, the windows throughout the entire ship needed cleaning. The bar service was awful, some were very slow and very rude, they need retraining. The restaurant service was very good, although the food in the main restaurant was awful. The chicken tasted like it was days old and the beef was too overcooked and looked and tasted like a cheap cut. The Lido restaurant was the best place to eat, although there was not as much choice as other Thomson Ships. The public toilets were also very unclean, smelly and not checked enough. The ports were excellent, although they should have put on shuttle busses in some ports as the walk to get into the nearest bar was approximately 2 miles away from the ship. Not on for people who find it hard to walk. The entertainment on the ship was excellent. The show team were at a west end standard. The entertainment hosts were very friendly and always very approachable. Embarkation was also very un organised and took too long to get through especially after a very long day travelling. Overall it seemed like they have neglected the other ships in favour of the newer ships. Read Less

The ship is mid range in size and looks old. I found the ship to be quite stable and had little roll when sailing. The ship is easy to navigate and there are plenty of lifts. The staff are very good and work very hard. Food is very average at best and there was a severe lack of fresh fruit and seafood. The only fresh fruit was melon. At the back of the cold counter were rows of apples and oranges that you had to stretch across and get, however, they were not fresh. I only saw 3 bananas the whole cruise. I saw no berries. There was a poor selection of foods for the evening meal. We tried the hot stone restaurant once which is £17.50 each I think but I was not impressed. Our cabin was an inside cabin on deck 5 (5001). This was the very first starboard cabin and was the noisiest I have experienced. There was a constant banging all day and night and we had drilling noises at 2am. Every port we entered was about 6 to 7am and the ropes/anchor were lowered which was noisy for about 30 minutes. There was no let up and we visited a port most days. When we complained we were advised that there were no other cabins available but if one became available they could move us! A member of staff came to our cabin and witnessed the banging himself one afternoon. The gym is OK but like the ship the equipment is old. Entertainment is quite good and the resident band are very good and versatile. The stage performances were good. The itinerary was good and we visited lovely places but I wish the ship has been better. Read Less

Me & my husband have cruised on a few ships before, so were really looking forward to the Argean Meze on Thompson Dream. On the positive points- the crew and majority of the staff are in the main really pleasant. The food is relatively good with surfice vegetarian & other alternative diets available. We ate mostly in The Lido restaurant on deck 9 which is buffet style. We found the food to be hot, and nicely presented, different soups served each day- which were really tasty. Breakfasts & lunches were nice with lots of choices. We ate a couple of times in Mistral restaurant on deck10 but as this is near the pool area it can get crowded quickly and is noisy. There are 2 restaurants on ship that you pay a service charge of approx £20 that we didn't bother using. The negative points as follows: the ship is very tired and dated and in need of total refurbishment. Visible rust on balconies and an unpleasant drain smell from the toilets especially on deck 8. We had a balcony cabin on deck 8 ( we were informed when booking that there are only 10 of these onboard that had recently been refurbished) we have stayed in cabins and suites with balconies previously so was expecting certain standard. However cabin was very small and balconies have large gaps each side thus impacting on your privacy. The Clarins toiletries were the best thing about the cabin! The adult only area on deck 11 ( one of the reasons we chose this ship). Had been converted back to family area due to customer feedback- we were informed in the welcome pack when onboard- we think we should've been made aware of this prior to the holiday.. Decks 10 & 11 were very rowdy and kids were running everywhere- all the sun beds were always taken so we did not spend anytime up there. Entertainment was mediocre at times & not to the standard we've experienced on other ships. The excursions were good although would be much cheaper if you arranged them yourself. All in all an "OK" holiday but would not go on this ship again regardless of its destination. Read Less

This was our third cruise with thomson, and probably our last. We arrived late due to a late flight to corfu, we were tired and hungry so decided to go to the only restaurant that was open at the time, Sirens, we found the buffet style restaurant quite small, the food choice was not as good as we had become accustomed to on cruises, the seats were very dirty and stained, my wife refused to sit down on some seats because of they were that bad, looking under the table we found bits of food that had fallen off the tables and not cleaned properly. The food was tepid and not hot enough to inhibit bacteria growth. We thought the food issue was probably due to us being late in the restaurant, however, we soon found out it did not matter when we ate, the food was a poor standard in both of the buffet restaurants at all times, the food was so poor we hardly ate on board the ship, after complaining we were told, everyone else is happy so it cant be that bad, this seemed to be the stock answer even when we complained to thomson on our return, customer service seems to be a dirty word here. The swimming pool was dirty and always covered in scum. There did seem to be plenty of sunbeds and we never had trouble finding a bed each even on sea day. The bars were busy and did seem to be understaffed, there were a few times when we ordered drinks from the waiters when we either did not get our drinks or got he wrong drinks delivered, if we went to the bar we had to wait in long queues but the bar staff and waiters were friendly and happy. The entertainment was good, not fantastic, the show team did a good job with the shows and the entertainers did a good job of entertaining us. Our cabin was a good size and clean and our cabin steward was always helpful. We paid for one excursion to the corinth canal, we did not think this was worth the money we paid and could have probably been better off making our own way to the site. Our favourite trip was one we did on our own to Olympia, this cost us 10 euro on the bus and 12 euro each to get into the ancient olympic site. The issue with the food and the bar sevice really let this ship down and the fact that the complaints were met with quite a terse response from thomson and no real appology we will not be booking with Thomson or TUI again. As I appreciated reading other people’s views on their cruises prior to departing, I thought I’d make a contribution of my own. In a nutshell, we enjoyed the cruise immensely, no real complaints at all and we intend to go on another one next year. Points Thomson did a good job getting us on the ship and our luggage was waiting for us outside our cabin. Unfortunately, we waited over 30 minutes to get checked in on board (to be fair they had 5/6 staff on the check in, it was just the volume of people that was joining the ship). At the check-in, you were encouraged to register a card to pay for your bar bill etc, hand in your passport (issued you with a receipt) and pay £15 to use the cabin safe for a week. We paid for an outside plus cabin, as it was our first cruise we liked the idea of being able to see outside. We glad we paid the premium; other people will no doubt have different views. The cabin was clean, well laid out, had a handy fridge, hairdryer, T.V., lots of cupboard space, small settee and a generous size double bed plus a powerful shower in the bathroom. If you were being harsh you could say the décor was a little dated, after all the “Dream” is a 30 year old ship. We appreciated “Mario” our cabin steward for a week; he did an excellent job in looking after us. Come to think of it, we found ALL the staff helpful and courteous during the cruise. They worked very hard in our opinion in ensuring the guests were well catered for (well that was our experience). First few days we were “encouraged” to upgrade to an all-inclusive drinks package, the cost would have been nearly £400 for the two of us (based on the number in your cabin). As a pint of lager (fosters) £3.95 and the cocktail of the day cost £4.20, for us it didn’t represent good value. Found out many guest had qualified for free all-inclusive drinks packages due to booking early. There was also a premium drink package for an additional £10 per person which enabled you to consume more branded alcoholic drinks – again you pay your monies……. We had no complaints regarding the choice and quality of the food; we had 4 meals at the Orion restaurant. This restaurant is more formal, with waiter service. On 3 occasions we were asked to share a table, personally it wasn’t an issue for us as it gave you the opportunity to get to know other guests. The Lido restaurant was where we personally had our breakfast as it was a help yourselves buffet and I certainly did (my wife was more restraint). For the sum of £47.95 each, we purchased a package to dine at the 3 more “exclusive” restaurants. As the standard restaurants were perfectly acceptable, you could argue that paying extra is a little excessive, however we certainly enjoyed the experience of the 3 meals, especially in the Mistral’s restaurant. The ship was FULL; the captain stated this at his gala on the Saturday. At times you had to queue, especially at peak times; having said that it was similar to many all-inclusive hotels we have been to. Also, there were always many staff serving and the queues (in our opinion) were handled efficiently. The entertainment on the cruise, especially in the Broadway Show Lounge was excellent and noting how full the theatre got, many hundreds of people had the same opinion! We would definitely recommend any guest to see one of the shows, well worth it. During the cruise we went on 3 Thomson excursions, whilst not cheap, they were all enjoyable and Thomson looked after us very well. As you may have surmised by now, we enjoyed our 1st cruise. We did have a few niggles, a very temperamental safe, which opened when it wanted to (not ideal when you needed access to it prior to going on an excursion!). The toilet which stopped flushing every few days (it uses a “vacuum “system to flush and blockages elsewhere stops your toilet from functioning!). Lastly, our cabin was “haunted”, as during the night you were woken up by “scratching” noises coming from the ceiling and walls. Was it a poltergeist, possible however, we felt it was more likely the air con piping; bizarrely you never heard the noise during the day! None of the above spoiled our 1st cruise experience, we enjoyed the ship, the staff and the people we met, thank you all on the Thomson Dream, and we certainly will book with you again. Read Less

We last sailed on the Dream 5 years ago, quite a few changes, some good some not so. Embarkation an disembarkation uneventful and smooth. Changes on the ship, the Waters Edge which used to be a teen club is now the area for the casino and bar with a small dance floor. Entertainment was good, apart from the shows which were a bit schmaltzy and the comedian old school. In house band was the best, really versatile. Cabin kept tidy, however no towel animals, unlike most others, I suppose it depends on the person looking after you. Our cabin was floor 5 at the aft, the thrusters/propellor noise was horrendous and woke us every morning so I'd recommend elsewhere, bed quite comfy. Dining, I feel sure there used to be 5 courses, now it's 3 in the Orion, portions just the right size and wine plentiful. We would have liked the same waiter every night but as we were a big party this must have been the reason. Another change was no Baked Alaska parade and no food exhibition. Shore excursions, we didn't get off at Kalamata, looked uninviting, Athens was a complete dump, went to the Acropolis but the queues so big we came back. Kefalonia was lovely as was Santorini except for the cruel people who chose to ride up on the Donkeys. Santorini very expensive, 8 euros for a milkshake! Rhodes was nice too. Lots of sunbeds available, except they were in full sun with no shade, another change was the sun room upstairs where the astro turf used to be, nice area offering a little shade and a bar in the area was very welcome. Cocktails 80% ice, prossecco nice, also beer, always something on the menu to try, would recommend the drinks package, another change is no signature for drinks (unless out of the package) which was far better. All in all pretty much what we expected lovely holiday Read Less

My friend and I booked the Greek Island cruise to celerate our 50th birthdays, the itinery was changed to our advantage. We left Corfu and visited the following islands-Kalamata, Santorini, Rhodes, Crete, Pireus for Athens, Kefalonia and returned to Corfu (Wow is all I can say) Neither of us had been on a cruise before and the whole experience was amazing. When booking we upgraded to all inclusive (a must) the food in all areas of the ship was great, drinks were good quality and brand names incuded in the package. We ate in the Orion restaurant which was waiter service and the whole experince was fantastic, we dined alone and shared tables which resulted in us meeting lovely people. Everyone was extremely friendly, from the other holidaymakers to all staff on the ship, they work so hard and we appreciated all of their efforts. All itineray was well planned and your days information was delivered to your cabin the night before and maps were available with further detail in Destination Services next to Reception, all fool proof, listing buses, beaches, sights etc. Our cabin 5021 was spotless, we were treated to towel art and Imademe (sorry not sure if I have your name correctly spelt) was so lovely, helpful and friendly - thank you ! We saw an excellent show on board, spent every night in the Waters Edge bar and after the singing duo enjoyed the late disco. We met some fantastic people in there, couples, families and groups of all ages and loved every minute - the bar staff were great fun and one who I named John Travolta totally took over the dance floor and put us all to shame !!! I have one complaint, it came to an end. We stayed up late, got up early to enjoy every minute and I had to apologise to the comedian on our last morning as I had ran out of time and failed to see his show - next time ! What a week, I can honestly say we had a ball and I would book another cruise with Thomson in a heartbeat, thank you to everyone we met on the ship Read Less

Very dated boat - probably looked good in the 1980's but not in comparison to modern ships. We paid about £800 a night for this cruise - probably about the same rate as some of London's top hotels. In return got dull, luke-warm, very plain food, which we had to fetch ourselves from the buffet. Reception told us not to bother going to the a la carte restaurant - apparently if you wear £150 pair of jeans you aren't as special as someone wearing 2 for a tenner chinos from the Daily Mail special offers page. The board basis was meant to be 'All Inclusive' yet this only entitles you to a 'basic' drinks package - they constantly try to get you to pay £50 to upgrade to a premium package. Not quite All Inclusive then - but I suppose Semi-Inclusive has less sales appeal. Talking of trying to push sales, Thomson has all their staff at it - even the Captain came over the Tannoy at many of the ports trying to flog us bottled water from the ship because it was 'cheaper' than onshore (it wasn't), and advising us to get a Boat Taxi at Venice rather than walking - even though we found out it was only a 30 minute walk. Poolside it was a bit like Butlins at sea with young 'entertainment' hosts trying to enforce fun on the passengers by playing daft games and quizzes that everyone just googles the answers for. Ruined the poolside peace more than anything else. The water in the pool had an interesting grey colour with plenty of dead wasps, empty beer cups and used plasters floating about all day. The boat is also badly sound proofed. We booked a suite cabin which is situated on the deck below the 'Medusa Bar' which has mediocre bands blaring out the same old done-to-death songs at volume 11 through till midnight - I appreciate this isn't that late but we have a 6 and 4 year old who wished to go to sleep at 10pm who kept being disturbed by the bass, wailing, stomping feet and drunken cheering. There was no point asking to be moved cabins as they only have 5 suites and I think they are all on the same deck so we didn't bother. To our amazement, we bumped into a number of guests who were actually returning for the second, third or fourth+ time on this boat! Have people not seen what you can get elsewhere for less money?? Maybe its something to do with the marketing - something I would give Thomsons five stars for - as at every turn they bombard you with 'please come back next year' begging announcements. Having been on a Thomson Cruise in 2016 with my wife and family aboard the Thomson Spirit, we decided to book another this year having had such a great time last year. We chose the Dream because of the itinerary it offered, and the places and activities we experienced were all excellent. The two excursions we chose to go on we felt were good value for money, both the guides and transportation were efficient and informative. The Captain and the crew of the ship were both helpful and friendly, along with the entertainment and food which catered for all ages and tastes. We chose the Outside Plus Cabins which we found to be spacious and more than adequate for our needs as last year we had the Standard Outside cabin and the difference the larger window made meant there was less of a restricted view. The housekeeping staff were efficient and helpful dealing with any issues effectively whilst keeping the cabins clean and tidy at all times. We would defiantly recommend this type of holiday to our family and friends, and hopefully plan to go on another cruise in the future. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we know a number of people who have been on Thomson cruises and loved them. We were not disappointed. The ship was lovely and everywhere was spotless. The Captain (Richard) was the loveliest person and gave us so much information every day. The food was first class and the service was second to none as were the cocktails which I think I managed to sample most of !.. All the staff were fantastic. A special thanks to Rogie in the Orian Restaurant who was absolutely fantastic, so attentive as I must say everybody was. Mario was our cabin steward who was brilliant and left our room pristine every morning and evening. The entertainment was so professional with fanatstic singers and dancers and Carl Schofield the comedian who had us rolling and got a standing ovation. The organisation in all the ports of call was very organised as was the embarking and dis-embarking. This was our first cruise and I hope the first of many. Thank you Thomson Dream for a fantastic holiday!!! Read Less

Thompson unfortunately are money first, customer second , we felt very strongly that it was all about squeezing every last penny from you, this was our first cruise and probably our last, The Thompson dream is dated, the food very poor, you are unable to leave your sun bed for more than 45 mins, if you do your belongings are taken to reception because there are nowhere near enough sun beds, so forget a relaxing lunch, stuff it down and legg it back, excursions are unnecessarily expensive, average £220 per day for a family of 4 , housekeeping staff were lovely, reception staff rude and abrupt, our daughter was injured on the ship by a broken lamp, we went to reception and asked for a plaster and whilst she was dripping blood we were talked through the prices," Buy your own plasters from the shop or pay £47 to open the medical centre" no concern for her what so ever !! , money money money ! On an over priced cruise anyway, I urge you to shop around ! Read Less

After having travelled on other ships we were persuaded by friends to try the Thomson Dream, we are pleased we did. From embarking at Corfu we found the staff to be very attentive as my husband struggled to carry our bags a young man helped us and we found our bags outside our cabin door. That night we ate in the buffet style dining room as we could not be bothered to get dressed up on our first night. After eating we sat and had a quiet drink and then walked to the theatre named the Broadway Lounge. This theatre looked grand compared to some we have visited in the past. Myself and my husband do have a passion for shows and like to travel to the West End at least once a month to watch professional shows. However, after reading recent reports on here of how 'low' the entertainment team perform I must say I completely disagree. The dancers, particularly the three small female dancers were exceptional and their performance skills were excellent. The only 'low' point for myself was that the show was not long enough. We did not attend the sail away party as we were so tired from our traveling. On return to our cabin our steward had already been in and pulled the sheets back and placed chocolates on each pillow. Our cabin was on the 8th deck and was an outside plus. It was spacious and clean but we had been in bigger cabins with previous ships. Over the next few days we explored some beautiful ports such as Rhodes, Santorini and Kefalonia but we did struggle with the heat but we shouldn't really complain of this. Rhodes was my favourite as it had some glorious buildings in the Old Town and we both felt that Thomsons gave us enough time to explore off the ship. The food was excellent and we spent the majority of the time eating breakfast in Sirons and the waiter served dining room each night. The foods each time were hot, creative and devine with the portions being small but adequate. The waiters were very kind and helpful and we got to know a few and they welcomed us each night to our table. Again we watched the entertainment all week in the theatre and although I said earlier the three girls were exceptional I did feel that the singers were too, the only weakness for me were the male dancers who could not lift the girls correctly or had the technique needed throughout the dances. My favourite shows were Africa and Moulon Rouge as I loved watching these three small girls dance especially the little blond girl who danced Roxanne, splendid!!!! However, my husband preferred the singing shows such as the cabaret ones. One of the boy singers we got speaking to during our stay and he was telling us how many weeks of rehearsing goes into these shows and how many shows they have to learn, when listening to them they sound very professional and need applauding. When he was speaking of the team it was interesting to know that two of the girls are sisters which when he pointed them out to me I would never have guessed!! We watched a group of them singing one night in the big lounge and again we were impressed. Although we are elderly many of the guests got up to dance and looked like they were having an amazing time. Again we evidence this on another night when a very small dark girl sang by herself, she may be tiny but she had a powerful voice and the guests were again dancing on the dance floor in front of her. With the food, the cabins and the entertainment excelling through our stay we have decided to rebook on this lovely ship for New Year and I cannot contain my excitement. Thank you everyone for allowing me to make some special memories with my dearest husband. Read Less

We chose this cruise, because we have always been happy with Thomsons and have travelled with them about eight times. We always look at the itineries,to find one that is calling at ports we haven't visited yet, obviously this becomes more difficult as time passes. The Greek islands have been on our to do list and we certainly were not disappointed. Our flight out and service at Corfu to join the ship ran very smoothly, our cabin was very well presented and staff were on hand to answer any queries. The restaurants are always fun with the staff being so kind and always smiling. The food and choice of menu were posted every day and we enjoyed the choices provided. The excursions were well organised, but we prefer to explore each destination ourselves,Santorini was very pretty and the cablecar was fun.Syros was very unexpected,no one seems to have visited or even heard of it before,we found a very beautiful place to visit, the locals were very helpful andeverywhere was so clean. We found a quiet little café where we could people watch and see the world sail by at the quay side.We would definitely visit again. The other destinations were Zante,Chania on Crete...very busy place with lots of character...and friendly people,we also called in at Marmaris too.The weather stayed fantastic all week which is always a bonus. Cannot rate this cruise highly enough. This was our first cruise and we didn't want a formal affair. We travelled as two families with teenage children. The flights and transfers to the ship were seemless. Once on the ship, the staff could not have been better - helpful, cheerful, efficient and genuinely seemed to want to ensure that every single passenger had the best time. Every member of staff from bar staff, catering staff, entertainers, ships officers, retail assistants, housekeeping staff all appeared to love their jobs and had the holidaymakers experience at the heart of everything they did. The ship is clean, there's plenty to do. Food was varied and on tape until midnight each night. Food was well presented and fresh despite the numbers catered for and the fact that it is available for 18 hours a day. The all inclusive package is to be recommended. So many times in the past all inclusive means watered down, cheap unbranded alternatives. This couldn't be further from the trust on the Dream. The all inclusive package at just £16 per day was such good value for money it was ridiculous. Excellent entertainment. The itinerary was brilliant - well organised with lots of information on excursions which could be arranged on the ship in advance via Thomson. If you wanted to do your own thing once ashore which is what we did, there was plenty of information available and recommendations on where to go for the best beaches, shopping, sights etc. All in all a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a formal environment, while one of the restaurants required formal attire, the atmosphere aboard is more casual but definitely suitable for families and those not wishing to dress up in black tie every night for dinner. we chose this cruise because we hadn't been to any of the destinations. We upgraded to an outside cabin which had a decent size window and was of OK size. We also pre paid the drinks package and three lots of excursions before we went. Even though our agent had done all the API and we had checked in on line and printed off our own boarding passes when we got to Stansted we still had to Que with everybody else who had done the same for about 20 mins for baggage drop. No quicker than before you had to do all this stuff yourself. Should have had more than two on check in I think. Flight on time, luggage at Corfu great, reps there to meet, straight onto coach and 15 minx to port. Check in quick and luggage arrived at cabin within 30 mins. I would probably put swim stuff in hand luggage as it says can take up to 2-3 hours. Food, service, staff all very good. We were on deck 6. Main formal restaurant on 4 and pools and Lido self service on 9. Formal night very good, black tie, long or short dresses are the order. We thought we would do self service all week but we did the formal. Did the hot rocks restaurant one night £16 pp extra however lovely evening. This is done round the closed pool at the front of the ship so inside/outside sought of thing. Must be good as captain and officers were there the same night as us. The excursions were good however mostly 0830 starts! Our favourite island was Syros where we just walked round the town. One good thing all the places you dock you can just walk ashore and just go or get the hop on hop off bus or the city bus on Crete to town for €1.70. Two places had to tender, santorini and Zakinthos. Enjoyed captain's twice daily announcements on weather, speed, direction, sunrise, what time the pilot was coming on board, docking etc. Good to know they support recycling as say the skip arrive on departure day. Have to be out of your cabin by 8am on morning of departure. Really enjoyed this cruise it was as formal or casual as you want to make it. Read Less

As this was our first cruise we were a little bit apprehensive of what to expect. So after much deliberation between my wife and I we eventually settled for the Thomson Dream. This being a slightly smaller vessel than others viewed, and decided on after having read many posts about the Dream on a few sites. To us novices we found it a bit smaller than we thought it was, but were quite happy about that. We picked a Cruise and Stay holiday for our first adventure. We flew from Edinburgh to Corfu with Thomson doing the Aegean Shores, no hitches at all pleased with this flight. On arrival at Corfu we were ushered to the embarkation hall where we found the whole process very simple and easy. On joining the ship our luggage was waiting at our cabin door. Our cabin was comfy clean and quiet all the time. The food on board was very good along with the service received. Plenty to do on board at nights, can't say much about day time as never on board. We never used the ships tours as we like to do our own thing. Overall we throughly enjoyed our first experience cruising the seas, in fact we liked it so much that we've booked again with Thomson this time on the Discovery and we're heading on the Baltic Experience next June. Our stay was at the Sensimar Grand Mediterraneo Resort & Spa by Atlantica in Corfu. We again throughly enjoyed this hotel, food excellent, staff very accommodating, facilities excellent, the only thing I would point out here is depending on where your allocated it does have a steep hill up to the hotel complex, but not to worry pick up the phone and call reception and within a few minutes a golf buggy will arrive and transport you up the hill if required. Entertainment at night was very good, but it can get slightly crowded so you need to get there early for the nightly entertainment. The complex has a pebbled beach, not to everyone's liking, and you get there by the Gondalla Train, or walk down about, well a lot of stairs. Local buses come into the complex, prices very reasonable. Read Less

From The moment that you step on-board you move into a bygone age of service the staff work tirelessly to ensure that ever guest feels special. Where nothing that is too much trouble and the guests whims are catered for from getting a drink to advise on the next port of call of events back home. The cabins were a lot bigger that I was expecting with space to relax if required. The bathroom is small but has everything you need. There is plenty of cupboard space to hang and store you suites and dresses there are a set of draws for everything else. We stored our cases under the bed where there was loads of space. We were a little worried about the amount of plugs in the cabin reading loads of stories and reviews on how bad ships are for such things. There were in fact 5 usable plugs in the room more than you find in most hotel rooms. We made use of the ones for the bedside lights to charge mobile phones just like I do at home. There is a good TV in the room that shares information about the ship and has music and TV channels to watch tip if you are staying in an inner cabin then the channel showing the view from the bridge is a must as they drop the lights at night so you are just left with a dark screen but with be light again in the morning showing you what the weather is doing. We found that the food on board was of a good standard with something for everyone we always found something to eat in the Lido. We enjoyed eating in the Orion restaurant with its more formal setting and full waiter service. There was only one formal night whilst we were on board where everyone dressed up in their finest and looking great. I know some people dislike this part of cruising but I think it shows the best in people that they participated in the spirit of days gone by sailing. Previsions were made for the guests that did not want to take part with service as normal in the Lido restaurant thought out the night. The entertainment on the ship is great from the shows to the singers and bands the whole ship rocks to the vibe of happy guests. The bar staff and waiters work tirelessly to ensure our glass is never empty and the good times flow. We had renovations about how much we would enjoy the whole experience of life at sea. Everyone in our party loved it and were asking when they could do it again. Book with confidence that you will have one of the best holidays you have ever had on board. Read Less
