Price of cruise sounded really good,we were not dissapointed, the cruise ship was a bit dated but was clean and all the staff were brilliant our cabin member Sharmain was a real pleasure to speak to really looked after us nothing was a problem to her always smiling and chatty, also would like to mention lunn who kept us supplied with our refreshments in most of the lounges and bars she also was very pleasant and always on hand, also yairis and Ronald deserve a mention for all their efforts and hard work ,these people never stopped, also all the entertainment crew were brilliant some fantastic shows every night with different shows,we visited different places every day seen some marvellous sights and lovely beaches, only problems and dislikes were getting online with internet was very expensive,£8 a day which would have worked out to much,we waited toget ashore for free wi fi,we had to miss out to one of the destinations due to a problem with the ship’s propeller we had to dock for 2days to get repaired so felt a bit let down by that,we were not offered anything in return. But apart from that we would definitely try another cruise in the future. Read Less

Hi just back from a week on the Explorer the flight from Edinburgh was good Transfer was quick. When we got too our cabin the cabin had a bad spell reported too reception fixed straight away smell came back 2 days later and you could smell it a lot round the ship as if there was problem with drainage a few times the public toilets were closed. Choose a cruise. To relax and for a luxury couple vacation. I couldn’t have chosen a worse trip with TUI. As for food! Dreadful. A massive punch up on board passengers. Staff that didn’t have a clue. Not all inclusive. Entertainment was like a bad red coat holiday. Like a booze cruise Absolutely disgusting. And I complained straight away on board and on returning. Just received an email today. No compensation. And just a sad apology. Shame on you TUI Extremely overpriced 7.5k for the trip. And feel like I have been really ripped off. The sales pitch was so good I thought it was expensive but a real treat. But on return the shop wasn’t as happy to hear about my complaint. And as for the response I am fuming and shocked. If I treated my customers in this fashion. I wouldn’t have a business. Certainly not one that Jane MacDonald has advertised. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and to have New Year in the Caribean. We were told this was a new ship and would meet all our needs !!! The cabin was old, tired and next to the engine on the fourth floor. The noise from the engine when at sea and when docking was so loud it was unbearable. We had no sleep and the cabin shook so much all the fittings fell of the walls, Lights were broken, curtains stained and bare wires hung over the bed. The shower was filthy, mold on all the tiles, grout and walls, and rust all over the door with broken fixtures. The toilet was broken and kept overflowing getting blocked. The corridor smelled of sewerage all the time. we asked to be moved and were told the ship was full. The second week the sheep was also full. By this time we were very tired due to lack of sleep and we left when we docked in barbados as I could not stand another night on that ship. The Bar was dirty, veryting was ticky with poor quality drinks. Beware all cocktails come from Slush machines that are all ice no alocohol. You have to pay for water !!! The food was very poor and very tiny portions. We hated every minute on this cruise I have warned all my family, friends and colleagues never to book a Tui cruise they should all be decommissioned. The ships are reconditioned ships not new. Royal Caribean got rid of these ships for a reason and they should be borken up for scrap. Read Less

We spent the 2 weeks around New Year on this ship and were very impressed. They did a great job of the Hogmanay Party one of the best I have been to. Great Night. We will be back! Staff on the ship are 5*. I was told that they range from over 45 different countries but whoever did the hiring and training deserves a promotion. So proactive and helpful. Loved the way they take you straight from the bottom of the aircraft steps straight to the ship AND at the end of your trip Immigration is done ON BOARD before breakfast.. Very slick. No Q's at bars NEVER waited for water, bread , meals or drink to be delivered to my dinner table. How they manage to feed all those people in all the different restaurant about the same time was fantastic. Logistically amazing! Everything was so smooth you just take it for granted. Not once did I have to Q and that included going on or off the ship. Spa is nice, they do deals and I thought they were reasonable 3 treatments for £99. Don't ignore the shops on board, for some things they gave me the best prices. Try the bike rides(they have ebikes). We did 2 of the organised trips and thought they were good value, next year we will do more. Coffee in the Coffee Pot was lovely, girl who ran it knew her coffee. Loved the films on the top deck at night and one night when the weather got colder the staff turned up with cosy blankets - without being asked, how nice was that! As I said....we will be back! Joined dream on 18 dec looking forward to visiting Bethlehem and Jerusalem for the Christmas period. We were on the ship for two weeks supposedly the whole itinerary since booking in September was changed we were not told about Jerusalem and Bethlehem stop even though the ship had been doing this for the last six weeks until we got on board so that the company did not have to refund us or compensate us for yet another change. Our cabin was absolutely disgusting there was vomit on the floor which had less stains on the carpet the beds were soiled with other peoples bodily fluid the head pillows were further soiled with blood and sweat and absolutely stunk after the first night in the cabin I developed breathing difficulties from the dirty tired air-conditioning. We spoke with guest relations manager and told him we needed to leave the ship due to the breathing difficulties I was experiencing thing on board. We left the cabin that day to return to find everything of our belongings were taken from the cabin the carpet been ripped up a brand-new carpet laid and glued down the fumes from the blue further exasperated my breathing problems but as there are no further cabins on board vacant they are unable to move us the ship further even due to my illness could not get off the ship for six days and even then they wanted me to pay for my own flights home when we had £200 in our on-board spend account. They agreed after speaking to their head office that we should pay for our own flights on our card and they would then refund us are on-board credit in cash we flew back to Cardiff and had to pay for hotel accommodation there before we could do our return journey back to London. The food on board the ship was absolutely diabolical the cheapest nastiest sausages bacon thick with fat or collect together frozen vegetables cheap wines and poor quality food chicken still on the bone , stale sandwiches with curled up edges for afternoon tea sausage rolls served warm with no sausage. Every day the buffet service was an absolute feeding frenzy with very dangerous hot serving trays which are sat into a bath of boiling water when you reach into the serving tray the steam comes out and burns you on your wrist and lower arms. The ship overall condition is poor and tired and dirty the rust inside and out is very apparent and the boat creeks and moans when she’s at sea . The pollution that she puts out is unbelievable and the smell of fumes within the ship is disgraceful. The Christmas decorations on board were absolutely pathetic with a small 3 foot blowup Santer being your main feature outside your restaurant door Christmas trees were about 4 1/2 foot 5 foot tall with old-fashioned tinsel and decorations randomly thrown on the tree the whole affect was cheap and shabby. I can only like in the bars and restaurant to a good old-fashioned working men’s club. The pool area even though it was really not hot enough to sit out but not supervised properly and the only thing they had adults could use with a hot tub there are signs up saying that children were not allowed in the hot tub and supervise yet every single day the hot tub is full of children with no adults in sight now we seem to care or do anything about it the ship was full of children with very little entertainment for them on a daily basis. The pool area even though it was really not hot enough to sit out was not supervised properly and the only thing the advice dogs could use where the hot tub is there are signs up saying that children were not allowed in the hot tub and supervise yet every single day the hot tubs were full of children with no adults in sight now we seem to care or do anything about it the ship was full of children with very little entertainment for them on a daily basis Since returning home I have been confined to bed with a lung infection in both lungs having to take antibiotics and steroids daily and rest this has been contracted through poor air-conditioning and is a ongoing serious issue at this precise moment. The ship did organise a private transfer for us to the airport so we didn’t have to go on the coach with the other passages I do actually think as much as we requested this it was probably in their best interest to do this to stop me spreading any kind of infection to other passengers I might of picked up on board the ship I arrived on the ship on the 18th of December fit and healthy. Staff of the ship are way too good to be subjected to what they have to work with there all cheerful smiley bright personable people and way too good to be on the dream. I’m so sorry that I cannot add photographs to this but writing it on my mobile phone it does not give me the facility to upload the photographs of the disgusting cabin and other little treats around the ship Read Less

The first and foremost part is what let’s the whole thing down. We were forced to leave our baggage outside the rooms at 2am the night before leaving . I complained and said I wasn’t comfortable and I was told their was no option. My case and my wife’s case turned up in the U.K. missing a £3.5k work MacBook Pro , 400 cigarettes and several items of designer clothes. The security seals were broken and the locks completely gone . After speaking with other cruisers since back they had the exact same issue with security seals tampered with and missing items. When I contacted TUI they weren’t in the slight bit interested and fobbed me off to travel insurance despite me asking for help in trying to track it down. No ownership of the problem whatsoever essentially means I have spent my last penny with TUI and will be telling people to avoid also. All in all the ship has been updated in the public areas but needs renovation in staircases and cabins. The atrium lifts were always filthy. Most staff are pleasant and friendly on the bars and restaurants but the entertainment staff less so (apart from Manuel and Tom) Restaurants are generally good however it’s very chaotic at times and service can be a little all over the place. My 30 year old wife was served a dessert saying “happy 60th Tony” on the plate. The buffet is absolutely atrocious and is school canteen standards, You would easily find a better breakfast in Asda. Alcoholic drinks are good but soft drinks again are atrocious with the syrups not mixed properly due to old machines and poor mixing. Read Less

the itineraries were amazing, lots of different places we have always wanted to go then there was a fire in the engine room transformer which was dealt with quickly but the repercussions were we had to sail at a reduced speed which meant three of our excursions were canceled with an extra two days at sea. The itineraries were the only reason we paid nearly six thousand pounds to spend twenty-four hours on an aeroplane to board the ship and the cruise experience was ruined. What made it worse was the paltry £250 each Tui told us we would receive without consultation and when everybody complained I overheard, with witnesses, the captain saying loudly he would be glad when all the moaners left his ship. True. The same captain who knew his ship had the same problem a year before and TUI still sent the ship out in the hope it wouldn`t happen again. They gambled and failed with the resultant ruination of our cruise. If I wanted to spend five days at sea I would have chosen a cheap and cheerful Med cruise. Tui In our opinion should never have sent that ship out without ensuring the transformer problem was addressed properly. They didn`t and will have to pay the consequences. Marella Discovery and two fires in twelve months is negligent in my opinion and would not go with TUI Marella again. The entertainment was average and the staff and waiters were mostly eastern Europeans who do not smile Unfortunately the Asian staff seemed to copy them and made for a depressing cruise. The captain was arrogant and the food not up to standard, proved by a notice in the self service restaurant which asked passengers to stop leaving so much waste on their plates! Shocking. Read Less

Ship was lovely and exceptionally cjean. Service was excellent. Food was great with a wide variety of choice. Entertainment was excellent and overall was excellent cruise! Waiters and cabin staff very courteous and friendly and really went out of their way to please you. Restaurant managers were excellent. We upgraded to premium drinks package but would recommend it. We noticed that other passengers who had not upgraded were served premium drinks. The DJ in night club was excellent and played a good variety of music for all ages. Thought the whole cruise was very streamlined and very well managed and organised. Would definitely recommend and is very good value for money. The only complaint I have is the Cartegena Trolley Train excursion! Complete waste of money at £25.50 each. The train was extremely uncomfortable and cramped and spent the whole journey sardined between two people travelling backwards! The tour guide was awful! Read Less

We wanted to visit Dubai. The ship. The crew. The food. The entertainment all very good. It he itinerary had Beeb changed about a week before departure and we were not notified.we would finish in Oman. Then on our penultimate day travel by free bus to Dubai. But due to medical emergencies the ship diverted , delaying our arrival in Oman by 24 hours. So we didn't get to see Dubai. Our first stop Aqaba ,we stayed for two days and after departure it was announced we had taken on security guards, we would picking up weapons at sea. Some decks and areas of ship were closed for safety against pirate attack. This was around the Gulf of Aden. We were 12 days at sea on this cruise. We departed with a 2.5 hour drive to Dubai Airport. The choice of restaurants is excellent. The food quality first class. Great choice of drinks on the fully inclusive. Cleanliness of cabin very good, obliging stewards. Cleanliness of ship very good. Entertainment, plenty of choices, for a lively time or places to just chill. We have been many times with Marella, they are our favourite cruise line. Because the service is excellent From Oman. Our holiday was booked from Manchester Airport even though Birmingham is our closest airport. The reason for this was, if we took the Manchester flight we gained an extra night in Dubai. We are disappointed this time with Marella as we should have been given the option to change our holiday. Read Less

Hi all , first of all I am not a good writer . Me and my wife booked a late deal with tui , we have never been on a cruise before ! But recently we have talked a lot about going on a short trip to test the waters as they say , we decided to book our holiday at Meadowhall shopping centre tui travel agent , luckily we had a very well informed sales woman who knew everything to know , she was fabulous , our holiday was booked for the 18 /10 /19 sailing on the marrella discovery , around the Mediterranean Our holiday day arrived , our flight was from Doncaster to Corfu where we boarded the stunning marrella discovery ship , ok she’s not massive or even brand new , but she is beautiful , once we had boarded ship we was shown to our inside cabin , our cabin was very clean , ample storage with many draws , sufficient hanging rails , clean bathroom with shower , nice firm comfortable bed with pristine clean ironed sheets , and nice bedside lighting , it’s not the most modern of cabin , but it was a pleasure to be in there , Moving on to the all inclusive package, The food is excellent in all the restaurants on the ship , and overall we thought restaurant 47 was the best for dinner , but if you like a good slap up English breakfast restaurant islands to front was buffet style which me and my wife preferred because English breakfast isn’t meant to be perfectly placed on your plate.? As it was in 47 ? , the drinks also have a huge variety of all the top brands either at the bar or there’s waiters everywhere near the bar areas taking orders Entertainment All the entertainment thrown at you day and night was for all age groups in numerous places scattered around the ship , never a dull moment , the acts was very professional , The days outings All the ports of calls that the ship stopped off at in many different countries was a good choice of diversity All in all it takes a lot for me to Wright something as long as above , but I needed to express how much of a fabulous holiday tui holiday gave me and my wife , thanks for reading Read Less

Sadly where do I start . We had booked a deluxe cabin and to our shock we saw no deluxe at all, the windows were that bad we could hardly see out of them. The shower was that small with a shower curtain, not deluxe to me. No toiletries apart from a small soap and shower cream canister. we enjoy going to the restaurant , only the first night was the best after that we were rushed every night and the food was not always hot and the plates cold. The staff were rushing around and the tables way to close to one another and the staff were not always attentive. In the end we tried the buffet lounge which I have to say the food was much better and the plates piping hot. Entertainment was awful it was a comedian and then entertainment team no professional dancers. Service in bars were very relaxed , there seemed to be a lack of staff. Found out later that this was coming to end of season and some were going home. We had diesel fumes which circulated around the ship even in our room on deck 8. Later the captain explained there were complaints about diesel fumes , explanation from the captain something about doing something to the tanks to put in an eu directive on fuel. Seems rather strange to do this while there were passengers on board. I had to cancel a trip due to the fumes making me ill because I ahave asthma . This cruise was a very disappointment overall. If it was coming to end of season that should not have made any difference we still payed for our holiday which our ruby anniversary was spoiled all together. Would I go back on this ship no, it was more like a Butlins camp . I would love to hear from other people affected by the fumes. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it's the newest ship of the Marella fleet. It is not a brand new ship. Now to dispel some of the complaints posted on this site about Naples airport. Naples is a very small airport. If several flights land at the same time then expect delays getting your luggage. We flew in from Birmingham and we only had to wait 20 minutes. Someone from Marella was on hand to help us. Marella staff were on hand to help us every step of the way. There is a 10 minute walk to the coach transfer. Those who require assistance will be helped. Transfer to the cruise terminal took 25 minutes. We were processed very quickly and we're having lunch on the ship as our cabins weren't ready until 12.30. your cases will be taken off you in the terminal building and taken direct to your cabin. People have commented on the lack of sockets in their cabins. There is a phone charging socket on one of the bedside lamps, a socket by the kettle on the dressing table and a shaver socket in the light over the mirror in the bathroom. You just pull the flap down and it's under there. There is plenty of wardrobe space and a cupboard with drawers m The cabin is small but very comfortable. The bed is very comfortable. For those who wish to take a tuxedo for the Captain's Dress to Impress please do so. Several men took them on our cruise. The meals are amazing. In fact they are better than some I:be eaten in my home town. I hope this post has helped those passengers vho have some concerns as a result of some of the comments especially about Naples airport. It was going to southern Spain and Gibraltar, wanted some warm weather and relaxation. Got cabin 5084, and got 7 days engine vibe, I was ok and eventually found that using my noise cancelling headphones so was my partner.... The food, crew and facilities were good, and the explorer lounge served the best coffee I have had afloat. The spoiler was the amount of smoking areas, apart from the lido on 9 the outside areas of the whole ship was smoking. You were constantly affected by the smell of cigarette smoke. As the back of the boat had multiple smoking areas you couldn't even sit and relax and take in a sail away. The entertainment was ok, not great but ok, very much local rep standard. Don't think I will be sailing marella again as the dream has soured me a bit mainly due to the poor smoking policy. I guess I'm not the target audience.... Read Less

Our 50th anniversary. Arrival was a walk from airport in Naples but staff all the way to bus, and happy to help. We had a junior suite and it was roomy, clean and very comfortable. We had ordered the celebration package and at £99 found it excellent value for money. Wherever we were on the ship the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The captain (Richard) and his staff were seen at various places on the ship and were very welcoming to the guests. The staff went beyond our expectations. We enjoyed the food, and felt special every time we ate in the restaurants, and again all the staff there were happy and efficient. Minus would be that next time we will go from an airport using Tui flights, where from the airport your luggage is taken care of till it arrives at your room.It was stressful having gone from Luton on another airline and we were in charge of our cases. We did not get any labels to attach to them and consequently they arrived at our rooms hours after us, despite trying to tell the reps that they had no labels to inform anyone of our ship details. Same when leaving, baggage hall disorganised for us to collect luggage. We found trying to book the celebration package via the Tui shop thwarted by difficulties in the way. Would book direct in future. We are now planning our next cruise with Tui. Read Less

This was my first cruise. After being delayed by 2.5 hours with a Tui flight we joined the ship 30 minutes before departure. On boarding we made our own way to our room and after paying £48 for a specified cabin with a double bed. We were disappointed to find 2 singles. No time for photographs on boarding. All the restaurants were shut, so after a journey time of 9 hours we went upstairs to our only choice the buffet The captain and team knew some flights would be late joining the ship but nobody at TUI cared. Arriving in the Islands buffet we were presented with 2 stale cold dishes of vegetable curry and o e dish of cold rice. After paying £2300 each for 14 days this was very disappointing. The response from the manager was the snack bar opens at 12 midnight you can go there? The rest of the dining experiences were ok, we ate in Gallery 47 and 47. The food was OK but most nights the service was slow and chaotic. The food was never hot. One. Night we upgraded to the hot stone experience In the Glass House. This was a disappointment, 6 oxo sized cubes of beef on a skewer with some peppers. Our clothing became smelly from the in your face smoke. A good dining experience was enjoyed twice which consisted of six tapas and pizza, this was in the glasshouse. We upgraded to the premier all inclusive, however the drinks were no better than the standard all inclusive , the measures were.never full and most of the drinks were prepared in a back kitchen where nobody but the staff could see what you were actually getting. Each evening the Live lounge, and Atrium bar were full, not enough seats for everybody, this is bad, all passe gets had paid a premium but for.many there was no room at the Inn. The service at the bars was slow, with no order of whose to be served next. There was a nice coffee bar, however again the seats were few and far between and those available were hard and uncomfortable. The cabins are very tired and I would grade at 2 star. Our bathroom smelt of rotten eggs. Twice our floor wasn't hovered in the room. On the second week our sheets were not changed. They needed changing! All of the resorts were miles from the port and the time in the port was too limited to really see anything. Tui destination services are not helpful, they are o ly I tested I selling overpriced tours and that is the legacy of the product. On leaving the ship the coaches were a circus to the airport and the luggage was where's Wally of the suitcase world. The one good thing I can say about TUI is they have the most amazing staff fro. Foreign shores, the British TUI staff are nothing but sales reps. The thing that spoilt it for.me was the boarding, late on board bo food, no welc9.e.drink, no apology and nothing to appease the awful start to this not cheap cruise. Try another cruise company whose ships are not tired and dated instead of.Butlns by Sea. Read Less

We chose this cruise as a belated honeymoon and it was my husbands birthday on the 30th. Our cabin was just so noisy, vibrations, clanging and banging and something hydraulic kept going off at various times. I felt the ship was tired and it reminded me more of a posh ferry, no charm about it. There are not enough seats in the bars and every night, is pretty much the same as the night before regarding entertainment. I was hoping there might be some dance lessons but it is too small although we were offered a talk on liver drainage. Food was ok although if you are in the lido it was only warm and the meals in the Meridian were bland and boring. Nothing spicy because they want you to pay extra and eat in the Asian restaurant. We did eat at the hot stone and the steak was great, starters and deserts we're not so good. Coffee port is great which is just as well as free coffee is awful. The best meal was the afternoon tea, loved it! The excursions are well organised, but you do not get enough free time, even to stop for a drink when walking in the hot weather. I have to say all the staff are excellent, polite and friendly and ship was kept spotless and ran like clockwork. We weren't sorry to get off and we're pleased we did cruise and stay in Dubrovnik instead of 14 nights cruise. I have rated cabin average because of noise. It was quite spacious with plenty of storage in bathroom. Read Less

Flight and transition from airport to ship was very smooth and embarkation was fast for 12 noon time of day. Our cabin was also ready when we went to put our hand luggage in it. Ship: Very clean, tidy, easy to navigate around and always seemed like there wasn't a lot of people on ship despite it being full. Staff: There was a really happy vibe on the ship and this was due to the happy and friendly staff. They simply couldn't do enough for you. Captain Chris was down to earth and gave interesting ship announcements and information. The entertainments director, Johnny, was very funny and also very informative on daily activities on his TV broadcast each day. He seemed to appear everywhere and set the fun vibe for the cruise. I can't fault all the hardworking bar staff and our cabin steward, Malvin, who's service was excellent. Entertainment: There was always something to do on the ship in the day or night from poolside, talks, dance classes, trivia and Broadway Shows. The entertainment team were top notch and the shows were amazing. The young actors/dancers/singers were all professional and amazing to watch. We went to 5 shows in 7 nights and they all worked really hard as they also work in the day and around the rest of the ship. There are also some very good musicians on the ship playing in the atrium and the live lounge. We did visit the casino some nights and had few goes on the roulette table. Food: we usually ate in the buffet as we found the quality and variety of the food to be exceptional and it suited us for time to allow us to do other things. I always find it difficult to find good vegetarian options in restaurants, but found the buffet offered so much choice for me. We didn't try the paying restaurants as we were so happy with the food in the buffet. Excursions: we booked 3 excursions for the week with Tui. Naples: the port was beautiful and very picturesque. We went to Pompeii and Vesuvius and really enjoyed this trip. Tip_ climbing the rest of the way up the volcano after the coach drops you off at 1000m was hard work, but worth it! Tui books local guides from the area who are very knowledgeable and this really makes the excursion interesting. We also went to Pisa and Wine Tasting and loved this cultural trip and even bought some wine from the vineyard. We went to Monaco and Monte Carlo as we are F1 fans and the lovely French guide gave us time on our own during the trip so we went to the 'Cafe de Paris' and had an expensive coffee and did some people watching. Some people say to not book excursions and do your own thing, but I like the ease of transport and the local guides make the trip more exciting and informative. I think the Tui excursions were value for money. I'm glad we didn't book more than 3, though as you do need time to relax. It was so exciting to find ourselves at a different port each morning and that has given us the cruise bug from now on. We also went on a 'Behind the scenes Ship tour' for £39 each. We met Captain Chris and had a 15 minute question and answer session on the bridge. We were offered tea and shown around the bridge by the third officer. We also visited the engineering room, the M1 under ship corridor, the kitchen and staff and had a glass of fizz with the Hotel manager. We also had a free photo with the Head chef and his hard working kitchen staff. This tour was great and we would highly recommend it. Overall, we had a great first cruise on a friendly and relaxed ship. All the guests were relaxed and happy due to being looked after by the staff and the happy vibe of this ship. The hardworking staff made the voyage memorable and Tui should be congratulated on all the travel organisation and ease of travel. We came home and booked our next Tui cruise for next year. Read Less

Went on 4th cruise... chose Marella Explorer 2 for itinerary and port of Naples .... cruise and stay to encompass Sorrento and Amalfi Coast.. Travelled with friends to celebrate 30th wedding anniversaries. My opinion ( shared by husband and friends). Fabulous week had by all. Ship and cabins very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Service and staff all amazing . Bend over backwards to ensure passengers enjoy their time with them . Food brilliant standard. We tend to avoid the buffet type restaurants. Prefer to be waited on and finer dining offered in the other restaurants. Had one upgraded meal “Surf and Turf” which was an excellent experience all round. Food service all faultless Entertainment on board was very good. Shows ok to good. The musicians .... in a class all o their own. Just absolutely brilliant. Sooo talented. And something for everyone. Jazz/swing quartet to soul and rock sessions. Just amazing. Can honestly say the best we have EVER seen ( apart from famous band of course). Standard of hygiene, the decor and presentation of on board facilities all very good and o par with 4 and 5* all inclusive resorts we have stayed in many times previously across the Med, Caribbean and Australasia. I dot understand some of the bad reviews... beyond me how people have rated below 4*.....were we on same ship?? My advice.... if you are looking for all round fun, value for money, good food and service then Marella deliver on all . Do not listen to the moaners.... maybe they have 5* lifestyles every day. My wife and I chose this for our honeymoon. Having never cruised before we were apprehensive - there was no need for that. What a perfect holiday. Arrival at Naples was fine for us mid twenties couple, although there is a little 10 minute walk from the terminal to the bus so can't imagine it's great for everyone. Straight onto the boat and into our cabin, bags were delivered about 15 minutes after our arrival. We can't fault any member of staff on board the ship, and a special mention to our cabin steward Anastasiia and also Zaida in the perfume shop as their service went above and beyond. We were invited for dinner with the captain on our second week which was a great experience! Plenty of places to eat and the food is great for everyone, plenty going on in the day and at night, the shows were good - we both felt that the male singers weren't great. Went past Stromboli after leaving Sicily and WOW. As I said... Perfect holiday. Read Less

This was myself and wife 15th cruise all with Marella and the 4th time on the Dream as it was !! Our favourite ship in the fleet. I’ll keep the review practical many frequent Marbella cruise travellers hopefully get the key points. The positives are its an older ship but has some great venues and bars which makes the personnel touches better than the bigger ships and it proved no different from our previous sailings. The services from the bars and restaurant staff were excellent. The professional entertainment was excellent although some of the best act were too late in the evening. We read on an informative letter in our cabin on arrival that they listen to the cruise feedback reviews. They had decided they would let children use the adult pools which I’m not sure was thought through. We like the lido pool on deck 9 it has a children’s pool but they all used the adult pool. Not supervised by staff and parents and just basic chaos all week. Jumping, pushing, shoving, inflatables the size of a person. Water guns the size of cannons firing all over the deck. We are not stick in the muds we have 3 children who don’t behave in this fashion. Three times we complained to reception and all we got back was they are the same throughout the ship. Ruined the holiday and experience. The sail away party the life and sole of these cruises was ruined by the life safety drill taking place at 10.00 in the evening which is unheard off. The food which was always the stalwart of the Dream has gone backwards!! Repetitive basis offering and the sweet selection was really poor. The Cruise Director spent more time trying to sell upgrades than actually information around the entertainment. The 2 hour flight delay coming and 5 hour delay going back didn’t help either. This is our 2nd Marella cruise this year which hasn’t come anywhere near expectations with delays and standards going backwards.one of the biggest frustrations is trying to get your voice heard. The Tui App on the ship is loaded with questions they want to hear rather than anything they don’t. The questionnaire they send you is just as frustrating and if you criticising too much will not let you complete. Prices going up and standards going down. Read Less

Our Second year on the Dream, I was a little worried about some of the previous reviews , all I can say is they must be quite fussy. First of all this is a 95% British ship, and you certainly see a complete cross section of British society, so expect a fair share of tattoos ( and that's just the ladies) there were more children this year , but also good to see more disabled on bored , I would have never recommended a cruise to someone with mobility issues but they were fine, so that's good to see. enough people have mentioned how hard the crew work and of course they do , the food was excellent, and the entertainment also top drawer, the comedian ( always a risk) was great and you could hardly get a seat in the Broadway lounge for his second show. Top Tip, if you are in a port where you aren't going on an excursion ( we only went on 2) then I recommend hitting the pool area straight after breakfast, most people head ashore straight away and you therefore get the pool , and hot tubs , to yourselves. It gets very busy in the afternoon . However there are quiet areas to go to ( deck 7 aft, you will get a lounger anytime ) also since Tui made the holiday " Proper" inclusive getting a drink is not an issue, they have Beer & wine carts where you can more or less help yourself. So in summery you are getting 7 days cruising , fully inclusive for under £1000, come on whats not to like.... Read Less

We have now been back for a few days so thought it was time I got down to writing my final and overall review of our two week, first ever, cruise. First thing I want to say is that I would definitely recommend a cruise on the TUI Marella Discovery 2 as an amazing experience on a fabulous ship (just in case you are wondering, it is a ship and not a boat, Captain Chris told us so). The ship is incredibly comfortable and I must say unbelievably clean and tidy, this being due in no uncertain terms to the tireless cleaning, polishing, hoovering, clearing, bed making and cabin tidying of the members of the crew who seem to be on the go 24 hours a day. Everywhere you go on board you see someone with a cloth in their hand or a vacuum cleaner running it over another bit of carpet just because. The waiting staff, in the same way, are on the go from way before sun up to well after sun down. Breakfast starts at around 6am when there is an early start to the excursions which I would guess means someone is starting preparation by at least 4am, then as soon as breakfast is over they are then getting ready for snacks, then lunch, then afternoon tea (with proper Cornish Clotted Cream for the scones I must add, yummy, and there was enough for a gurt great dollop). Sorry got a bit carried away with that memory. They are then getting set up for dinner which starts at around 6pm and with 1800 very hungry passengers, many of whom who have been away from the ship on exhausting and hunger inducing excursions, so you can imagine the chaos with this and that is not the end of it for the catering staff as once they have finished with the dinner service they are then preparing food for the midnight snack bar which goes on till... actually I have no idea what time that finishes as the latest we went to this one was around 11.30pm and there were still plenty of people coming in after us. Then just a few short hours later it starts all over again for them. As far as the individual restaurants are concerned, here we go. The Snack Shack - our first experience of dining once we embarked on board. We were wandering around the ship trying to get our bearings and we came across this one and thought, why not. It has a cold frame with sandwiches, wraps, salads and fruit which you can help yourself to and then there is a serving counter where you can get fish and chips, burgers, hot dogs, etc and then the bar area for drinks. I will say the fish and chips were lovely and everyone else in our party were impressed with whatever they had. So good start, well done Snack Shack. Islands - I must be honest, we only ate in Islands a couple of times for breakfast and the 'Cornish Clotted Cream' afternoon teas but from what we could see it was good, wholesome buffet style food which looked tasty and hot. 47 Degrees - Again being honest, we tried to get in here on our first night on board requesting a table for 4. Well... we were told it was very busy and it would be about 30 minutes to get a table. How dreadful... NOT, when you consider that right next door to the restaurant is the Atrium bar where you can get a drink on the house... or was it on our All Inclusive package?!! Sorry, back to being serious now, we were given a buzzer and told that once they had sorted a table for us the buzzer would go off, which it did, but not 30 minutes later, it was about 15 minutes, what a service. We were welcomed at the door by two smiling hostesses who passed us on to the waiting staff who again had huge smiles on their faces and we were shown to our table. Waiter service? But I thought All Inclusive was always buffet style! Not on this ship, 47 Degrees is a fully waiter serviced restaurant where you get a proper fine dining experience of the waiter placing your napkin on your lap, immediately asking what you would like to drink, and I must add, as we had upgraded to the premium drinks package, this basically meant we could have whatever we wanted (too many good quality wines and spirits to list here, I would recommend the upgrade). The menu changes every day and always has a choice of 5 dishes in each of the starters, mains and deserts. The food was amazing, again I can't list all the fantastic dishes on the menu as, like I said they change the dishes every day. One dish I will mention though is Sticky Toffee Pudding. We met the Executive Chef, Carl, on the stairs one morning and I mentioned to him how much I really love Sticky Toffee Pudding. He told me that unfortunately this pudding was not on the menu for another two weeks. Obviously seeing how disappointed I was, three days later on our table at dinner when it came to the desert course he had made a Sticky Toffee Pudding just for me. Honestly! Everyone around was so jealous especially when I wouldn't share it. Actually I did let them all taste it, it was delicious. One of the best I have had, thank you Carl! The Glass House - We ate in here a couple of times for lunch where they did a mean sandwich, chips and salad which you ordered and was made fresh for you from the serving counter. We also had the midnight snacks in here a couple of times, where the curries were lovely and the burger and chips really do sit well at about midnight, or is that sit on your stomach well at about midnight. Not sure? Surf and Turf - You pay a supplement for this restaurant but then you do get to order some impressive steaks which are delicious and tender. As the name suggests they do a surf and turf option on the menu which, surprisingly, includes a steak and some lobster. Again, three courses and a fantastic wine selection which compliments all the different flavours and choices on the menu. One other thing is that all the waiters know which wines go well with which dishes so just ask if you're not sure. And also, again, it is fully waiter serviced where everything is done for you apart from actually eating the food. Kora La - Wow! Pan Asian in this restaurant. Again there is a supplement for this one but BOY is it worth it in here! In case you're wondering from the previous sentence, this was by far our favourite restaurant. The flavour combinations and taste sensations were far better than we ever expected them to be. We actually ate in here four times on our two week cruise in the end. Only planned to eat a couple of times in the supplement restaurants but this one was sooooo good we couldn't help ourselves. Right, on to the most important areas on the ship, the bars. Only joking we don't drink that much... at least not normally. The Atrium bar is a great focal point of the ship with the six floor high, sorry meant deck high, ceiling, an amazing sight and also with the singers, guitarists, saxophonists, pianists, etc there to entertain you while you relax and have a drink, it's great place to sit and chill out after a hard days sunbathing. Then there is the live Room where, as it says on the tin, there is live music played by the resident band, the pianist, or whoever the entertainment is at the time, while you order your drinks and relax. Next up is the Venue where again, surprisingly there is live music at various times and even, once weekly a karaoke evening. Even in the Broadway Theatre during the shows in the evening there are waiters coming round constantly taking your orders for drinks and bringing them right to your seats while you are watching the amazing West End standard shows on every night. In the day time there is a pool deck bar for drinks while you are lounging around the pool, you have a choice of either going to the bar yourself or just sitting or lying on your sunbed and order your drink from the waiting staff who are constantly walking around serving you. Even on the upper decks, the Veranda at the back of the boat, sorry, I mean ship, on the sunbeds around the mini golf course, around the climbing wall or just about anywhere you can find a space to sit or lie there is a crew member coming around taking your drinks order. Amazing! Then there is the Coffee Ports dotted around the ship where surprisingly they serve coffee and cakes and other bits. Every single person we came across who is there to serve you always has a smile on their face and is forever ready to provide you with whatever your stomach requires at the time. Fantastic! Now the entertainment. All the entertainers on board are well seasoned and experienced performers who are only not on the West End stage or performing in arenas because either they are not bothered to, prefer to be travelling the world on a cruise ship seeing all the sights for free, oh, and getting paid at the same time or maybe they just haven't been in the right place at the right time... yet! The guitarist, saxophonist, pianist and singers around the ship are amazingly talented but, again, (sorry, keep saying this) I must be honest with you all, for me the stars of the entertainment are the Broadway Show Team. They perform a different show every night of the two week cruise, only having one night off a week, so that's 12 different shows they have to learn with precision and perfection, learning the songs, the dances and lines for each different show. At our amateur dramatic society we take about six months to learn and perform one show, let alone 12 shows. My hats off to you guys, and each of the shows are amazing. Well, there are other things I could have added to this but I think it is probably time I went to bed and, basically typing with one hand is taking it's toll on me so I need to rest now. I hope this review hasn't been too long and boring for you but then if it was too long and boring for you then you wouldn't have read that last line so that was probably pointless putting that in but, never mind! See you all on our next cruise! Who knows, someone from Marella might see this and employ me to review one of their other ships. We can but dream! Read Less
