Marella Explorer and the crew were absolutely first class. Waiters in the eateries were all very polite, and Geronimo and his merry band were very entertaining. All of the staff were very attentive, always smiling giving a happy relaxed, laid back atmosphere throughout, not stuffy at all.
Food was brilliant, everything was immaculately clean in all public areas.
Cabin was spacious, ...
Chose this cruise as we had not previously visited some of the ports of call plus we were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary. I will start with the positives: Cabin housekeeping was excellent. Food excellent and plenty of choice, we chose to eat mostly in the Latitude 53 both for breakfast and dinner as this was waiter service. We occasionally dined in the Italian restaurant Vista for ...
We choose to do this cruise as we has been advised that it was family friendly with loads of activities for a three year. Not the case.
The ship itself although spotless is a bit tired - I know it has been refurbished but there are areas that are needing a bit of TLC for example the showers needing new screens and not just cleaned, toilet roll holder holes not filled in correctly etc We had a ...
Just returned from a weeks cruise the explorer is lovely ship the cabins have been refurbished a decent shower and plenty of storage we had a small but adequate balcony. The main disappointment was the itinerary which we picked as we had not visited several of the ports before having been on several cruises.Porto Torres was very disappointing 3 of the ports were industrial which meant a bus was ...
Booked this cruise as a party of 16 friends who cruise regularly - between us have cruised on Thompson (Marella), Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Silver Seas so quite a bit of cruise experience. As a couple we have had 3 previous Thompson cruises including the 2 Discovery ships and expected the same if not better quality of cruise. Unfortunately was distinctly average with real issues ...
We chose this cruise for a short break to the Mediterranean. Good flight to Palma as part of the deal, easy transfer to the ship and fast processing to get us on board. Our room was ready when we arrived at mid-day, clean but lacking any character, no pictures, flowers etc. Great cabin service, very friendly and helpful throughout the cruise. The ship is advertised as “new” but when you read the ...
Booked this cruise very last minute and because it had just had a refurb. Well not much of a refurb apart from the Indigo area which was more like an aircraft hangar with about the same atmosphere! Ship overall was dated but clean and tidy with a lot of problems with public toilets, constantly blocked throughout the cruise.
Cabin good standard and well serviced, hammock a nice touch.

The worst holiday experience ever. If you think all inclusive means just that, forget it. Read my review on trip advisor. We have never seen so many disgruntled people in one place nor such blatant price gouging. The food, service, staff, swimming pool, awful. Excursions were a massive rip off. Nothing more than expensive trips in a coach with no water or lunch provided at up to £98 per person; on ...
We selected this cruise as it was our 40th wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something special. We always fancied trying a cruise but were apprehensive about it being a bad experience. Since we normally holiday with Thomsons (Tui) we felt we would be in good hands and this was a good decision. Overall I can understand how people choose to go on cruise holidays as the overall experience ...
Chose this cruise as it coincided with a special anniversary. It also visited ports that we were interested in. Plenty of restaurants and activities day and night if you chose to do that. We were only at sea for one day so every other day was taken up with shore excursions. Although TUI reps were very informative on these excursions we found that they were very over priced. Friends went off on ...
