Just been on the Thomson Dream on the Transatlantic Sunrise and was very disappointed with many aspects of it. Whilst we were more than happy with food and cabin we thought the general entertainment could have been better. Although the dancers/singers etc were all talented we saw the same shows on the Dream 2 years ago so Thomson start thinking new shows please. Our holiday this year was totally spoilt by there being a very bad chesty cough/virus on board of which we both got it very near the start of the holiday and spent quite a few hours over a period of time in the hospital along with many many others passengers all of which had very expensive bills at the end of treatment (hopefully all insurances will pay up) The consensus from the ship THERE IS NO ILLNESS ON THIS SHIP they were still denying it as many more passengers were being treated. It was felt amongst many passengers that hand sanitising was not being adhered to as it should, the question was asked why there were no staff making sure this is done and was told it takes up too many staff at one time and as for the cost of treatment why does the it have to be so expensive. Also there were major problems with the lifts so many times they were out of order and you either had to wait an age for one to come along or struggle with the stairs which was a real problem to quite a lot of passengers. A receptionist was heard to say when a complaint was made about the lift situation - well you could use the stairs - this is not the sort of comment you want to hear. Thomson have just spent a lot of money on refitting certain areas but we felt important things such as the lifts should have been renewed. Just so you know the waiting staff and cabin stewards were as usual brilliant a real credit to themselves. This was our 4th time on the Dream and will unfortunately be our last.   Read Less

Returned home on 24th December after great itinerary on Thomson Dream. Developed cruise cough a few days before the end of the cruise along with many others. Still got it 10 days later.  It seemed to be rife, with tales of visits to the ships doctor and large bills to follow. Generally hand sanitation seemed to be very good. Is there something wrong with the air conditioning filtering system, other cruise lines do not seem to have the same problems as Thomson. Lots of problems with the lifts, someone was trapped in one for 30 mins. We climbed the 5 flights of stairs to breakfast every morning to be on the safe side. We had an outside plus cabin and were pleased with it after a few teething problems, ie no water, exploding hair drier. On the positive side the dining in the waiter service areas was very good. Alas the buffet on both decks is badly laid out, with lots of waiting around to get food and poor seating plans on deck 9. Outside space on sea days was very difficult unless you adopted the German tactic and put your towels out at 6am, it was relieved a little when work on the new sundeck was completed a few days into the cruise. As for entertainment, the show team were excellent, best we have seen on our 9 Thomson cruises, comedians funny and guest lecturer brilliant. Greg Francis band was good for dancers but a bit old hat with a rather annoying singer. Not enough proper big band sound. The Medusa lounge is not big enough to cope with evening entertainment and there were lots of comments on the "new" coffee lounge - another money making idea from TUI>. There seemed lots of new staff and the bar service was abysmal for the most part - concluding in a very small measures of cocktail with lots of ice which is ridiculous with a drink package and poor quality draught beer maybe due to lack of training. Luckily we enjoyed the ports of call and thoroughly our trips and our own explorations. It is our second and last trip on the Dream and any future cruise with Thomson will be on the Majesty or Celebration.   Read Less
