I would like to have given this cruise a higher rating but there are some matters that need to be addressed mainly which occurred before and after the cruise. Cruise staff onboard did all they could to please customers. Ship and cabin in need of updating, but fine. Landed in Montego Bay and eventually arrived with luggage in cabin 4 hours later! The first and foremost part is what let’s the whole thing down. We were forced to leave our baggage outside the rooms at 2am the night before leaving . I complained and said I wasn’t comfortable and I was told their was no option. Having previously sailed on Explorer 1 in December and really enjoyed the ship and food we thought we would try Discovery 2. This cruise got off to a bad start. It took 15 minutes to find steps to get off the plane and another hor and 15 minutes being held in a hot airless corridor before a bumpy coach trip to the ship. We went on the discovery 2 in April 2019 from Montego Bay calling at Hondurus, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Maya Mexico. We travelled over the easter period therefore some of the places were quiet. This is our sixth cruise with Marella and the second on discovery 2. We cruised from Montego Bay calling at the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Honduras, Cozumel Mexico, Guatemala, Belieze and Costa Maya in Mexico. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. This was our first cruise with Marella. Our first impression of the ship was good it was clean and easy to move around. Travelled with a family group for special celebration. The cabin was a Deluxe Balcony Cabin on 7th Deck. Adequate but a bit shabby and in need of refurbishment. Bed and bedding poor and uncomfortable. Small shower room with plastic shower curtain in need of replacement. Cabin staff very helpful. Found food very average.
