we chose Marella as we liked the itinerary of the Caribbean islands offered on this cruise. we arrived 4 hours late due to a flight delay. when we arrived at our cabin we were disappointed to find our refurbished cabin had discoloured rusty ceiling panels above our bed. when we reported this they were disinterested. on the second night at midnight we were woken by very loud noises banging and ...
The Trip
We booked this cruise having sailed Marella previously so we knew roughly what we were getting. The main objective was the variety of ports on the itinerary which included Puerto Rico, St Thomas, St Croix, Bequia and originally Guadeloupe , especially for my “Death in Paradise” TV show crazy wife. Having booked and paid in full, about a month before sailing, Marella changed the ...
Rounded up from 2.5:
We have cruised with Marella in the past and have enjoyed the experience, this time however there were a number of significant issues which marred the experience:
- Before we even left the country, we received an email to say that the cabin we had had reserved for 18 months was no longer available so we would be moved. The email was very unhelpful, didn't explain at all ...
29/10/22 Transatlantic Discoveries Cruise, 17 nights, Palma to Jamaica. Having cruised for nearly 20 years (& done several similar transatlantic cruises on both Thomson & P & O), sadly this was not the best cruise experience because of the 10 sea days, 6 days being consecutive. In the past we’ve found the sea days very relaxing but not this time because we experienced the worst daily sunbed ...
We have cruised many times with Marella, but this repositioning transatlantic cruise was awful!.
The cruise was an ambition for my wife and I, but right from the start, the whole experience was a farce, 1st we got an email saying our flight had been changed - it hadn't.
When we arrived at the cruise terminal in Palma, we had to queue for nearly 2hrs to get on the ship, the staff offered us ...
We went on a transatlantic cruise to the Caribbean on board Marella Discovery2 in October / November 2022.
What was good about the cruise:
* The ship visited all the ports on the dates and times advertised.
* The cabin was excellent and the stewards were friendly and looked after us well.
* A wide variety of free entertainments was available on board - theatre shows, line dancing, ...
This was over Christmas 2018 & New Year, from Jamaica with stops to Belize, Guatemala, Roatan and Mexico. Upon arrival at the cruise ship terminal in Jamaica, we found out there was a mix up with a lot of the Sunwing bookings. There was no room reservation for us, there must have been over 50 of us who had to wait to get rooms. We waited over 4 hours, and some waited much longer. At least they let ...
We were recommended by some friends who had previously been on Marella before it became all inclusive. Unfortunately it has now become like a cheap holiday camp that caters for grossly overweight chav’s that like to booze from the moment they get up and they made up about 40% of the passengers. The Pool deck was like a walrus colony and best avoided as was the buffet at the Market Place were most ...
This was our third cruise with Thompson’s and compared to the first two the food was poor. In the Islands restaurant it looked so unappetising, and was bland. They are needing more staff, tables took ages to clear, not the staffs fault as they work so hard. Food in 47 was often Luke warm and one night in the Italian part it took 1 hour 20 minutes and we were still to have our desert. We paid in ...
This was our second ever cruise. Previously we had been to the Caribbean with Royal Caribbean on Freedom of the Seas. The TUI Discovery is much smaller and caters for specifically British people.
We decided on this cruise as we liked the itinerary and the cost was good. We travelled to Barbados by Thomson 787 Dreamliner in premium class which was very good indeed. We checked in our bags ...
