Have tried all the other marella ships. So decided on discovery 2 to cruise with friends. Never had a balcony cabin before . Would not pay for another one as didn't use it. Our cabin was just above the atrium so noisy if you wanted a nap or early night. Entertainment was just ok. Too much daytime entertainment slots were filled with spa demonstrations which are always too overpriced. The ...
I wasn't expecting much from this cruise - having been once before with P&O on Ventura and finding the food to be absolutely dire for the price we paid - but the itinerary and local flights from Cardiff to Corfu suited us so decided to go for my 40th birthday with my mother. And what a completely different experience it was!
Firstly, I am not a fan of all-inclusive and haven't done such a ...
The ship is in real terms old, having been purchased from Royal Caribbean, 1st constructed in the mid 90’s. However she has stood the test of time and is still very welcoming, for the type of cruiser that does not wants the whizz bang that the present day builds may have. The cabins are very much the same as every other ship in both design and size. However the media systems although modern flat ...
We had done 3 previous cruises with another company but for some reason our travel agent pressurized us to book Marella there was only inside cabins available so we went with it has we had used them previously and they had internal balconies or a window overlooking the shopping area.
What a shock when we opened the door of cabin 7117 a small dark room the bed had to be pushed against the wall ...
Our group of 6 adults cruised the iconic isles cruise it was fantastic from start to finish apart from two nights of rough seas that prevented us docking in Zante but instead we docked in katakolon which was beautiful. Food and drink was excellent something to suit everyone bar staff gr8 and especially the waiter Nikola from serbea who was so good to us throughout the week. Inside cabin was ...
We went around the eastern med. The ship was ok all staff were good , friendly and worked very hard. Food was good but always busy in the island restaurant in mornings and at linsh time. Snack shack food was good at lunch you could get small portions of fish & chips or chicken & chips Ect. Gallery 47 restaurant was ok and we only had to wait about 10 to 15 mins to be seated you get a buzzer so ...
We chose the Adriatic cruise leaving from Corfu because of the itinerary. The staff in every department were really great & worked their socks off. The food was good, if a little repetitive. The Asian restaurant Kora La was absolutely fantastic - far & away the best food on the ship, & the service was great too. The entertainment was great - Benjamin Gillan & Paul Greenwood were really good. We ...
Been on few cruises in the last few years but would not go back on discovery 2.
Corfu airport very small and massive que on way home. Some people were having to que outside as there flight was delayed.
Upgraded to a balcony room on 6th floor which was lovely. Staff nice.
Did three excursions. Two were on the electric bikes which were great. George and Sophie were great guides. Would ...
We have never cruised before, and were a bit apprehensive
This was an amazing holiday, top class entertainment, food, accom and service - can't wait to return. Some of the shows wouldn't have been out of place in the West End
Choice of restaurants was great, and the gym facilities were adequate
Destinations were ideal and we had enough time in each to get to relax, soak up the atmosphere ...
We went on this cruise because we had been on the Marella Dream in June, we had such a good time on the Dream we decided to go on the Discovery, so we could compare the two. we enjoyed both to be honest, although the Dream is smaller and older ship than the Discovery I'd say the Dream just piped the Discovery for us. We thought the Dream managed the people it had on board better than the ...
