Flight out Manchester to Barbados, great on Thomson Dreamliner. Embarkation smooth with no Drama. Ship looked stunning, and we were looking forward to our first cruise with Thomson, after they procured this ship from RCI. We are seasoned cruisers, and were looking at whether Thomson were to be a competitor for P&O In the UK market. The price we paid was reasonable alone, as well as the free ...
Our 3rd cruise with Thompson and although we got fed up during 6 sea days we enjoyed ourselves. Food was good and hot and plentiful. Service throughout the ship was excellent with all staff smiling at all times. Drinks package was good. But entertainment? The team doing the quizzes etc were good but not as good as on the Majesty. But the theatre shows were awful. I have never seen as many people ...
We chose thomson for our first cruise as we were told they were a bit more relaxed, adults only, all inclusive and not too big a ship!
I don't want to repeat previous reviews so will try and add bit that were relevant to us .. our Cabin was 8026 which was big and had a balcony with sunbed (just one!) - and a table and two chairs, there was tons of storage - we didn't use all the shelves, lots ...
We were attracted by a very reasonable price and to visit both Caribbean ports and Mediterranean ports in one cruise. We were dubious about whether we would like 6 days at sea, but thought we would give it a try.
Flight over to Barbados was excellent. My husband is asthmatic and dreads flights. The dreamliner advertises increased oxygen levels in the cabin and my husband felt better due to ...
This was our second Thomson cruise, the first one was on the Celebration. The Tui Discovery was a fabulous ship, the whole experience was wonderful.
The flight on the Dreamliner was great, we had a very easy transfer from the plane to the ship at Barbados.
We had a balcony cabin, 6514, which was lovely, and was handy for everything. Cabin was kept clean and serviced twice per day.
We ...
Great flight out from Birmingham, long flight but well looked after.outside cabin excellent, well looked after by maid.food great after complaining about cold meals in restaurant manager made sure our food was always hot .Missed the philippino staff, who are always great, this cruise had mainly Eastern Europe staff and some of them were hopeless.drinks package was great but let down by flat mixer ...
The cruise itinerary we chose was paradise island which consisted of British Virgin Island (Tortola) St Maarten , St Kitts , Antigua and Bequia (the grenadines) and Barbados however we just embarked and disembarked here . All calls of port were very nice and what was expected , however Bequia was horrid , there was nothing to do there as soon as we got off the tender boat we looked round and got ...
Given some of the reviews, I was a little nervous of the cruise but once there we had a good relaxing holiday on the Tui Discovery, three of us in a deluxe balcony room, a little small perhaps but cleaned and tidied every day by very polite hard working staff.
The ship
Busy, especially the pool area, some quiet areas at the rear, putting green was fun, the deck chairs were past their best ...
This was our fifth cruise with Thomson and by far the worst.
Firstly the good point:-
We stepped off the airplane steps and onto a bus that took us directly to the ship.
It went down hill from there.
The bad points:-
Food, in the buffet hall the food was cold. In the 47 degree restaurants which were waiter service if you didn't order a bottle of wine you got shoddy ...
We had a super holiday on the Tui Discovery which we had selected based on the ability to directly fly to Barbados and the itinerary of the islands we visited over the 14 days. I was initially a bit worried that is a 20 year old Royal Caribbean ship that had been modernised however the ship was really nice, modern and well kept. In fact it was a slightly smaller ship than we have been on ...
