We chose this cruise because we have heard so many good things about NZ. Also this was our 2nd time on the Sun Princess. NZ was great and we were blessed with good weather. The buffet is your average food on Princess, not much has changed. It really needs to improve. There are so many easy interesting dishes that can be added to the buffet without costing a fortune, and for appeal. Every breakfast you see is the same things, eggs, bacon and cereal. I was a bit shocked to see fruit loops for breakfast - this stuff is full of sugar and so unhealthy. Hot chips for breakfast; really. The Chinese congee was inconsistent on a daily basis. The condiments were always empty. In the additional, there should have been some kind of protein available, such as cooked chicken or meat to add to the congee. I think a yum cha station could be of some benefits- made to order. Fine dining was either a hit or a miss. The lobster and prawns, beef wellington and lamb rack was outstanding. There should have been a cuisine theme night showing other international dishes. Some Asian and Indian dishes were not of standards. The German Oktoberfest was terrible, and we were in the month of December. Hygiene and customer service was outstanding. The cooking demonstrations was terrible and it’s the same dishes as usual. The kitchen gallery tour was terrible too, did not see cooks working, just work stations. Entertainment was okay, but not great. Freddy Mercury impersonation was good, however I wanted him to play more piano. Okay he lost his voice after so many nights singing and this can happen. The piano player, Liam ? was okay, but he has to stop hitting the keys, just play smoothly. I e seen better pianist on Princess. Overall, the Sun Orincess was Ok, on this cruise there was a lot of elderly people, getting tender took forever, but you learn to find patience. Read Less

We were near getting caught in the cyclone, missed 2 ports and Fiordlands, fire on board, Dale got stuck in a life, the food was cold, the coffee colder, the cabin was as small as my spare room, the cabin steward didn't clean the shower in the 2 weeks I was on board. The prices on board were ridiculous; you had to pay for ice cream. The prices for port excursions were so expensive and did not do all the activities they were meant to and $15 for a bus into one of the town from the ship. There was hardly anything for disabled fun. The shows were good with the comedians. The staff shows were shocking. There were not any themed nights, and what there was we weren't told about before the cruise so we could take the appropriate clothing. The formal night was changed without word. A lot of the disabled toilets were out of order. I could go on! I will NEVER travel with Princess again! Read Less

Round Australia itinerary was a perfect close to our touring of the more visited areas on land. We often do private tours, but the ships tours were very good, but a bit more expensive which is typical of cruise ship tours. Some port visits were quite short so the ships excursions were much more relaxing. Our cabin was C633. We had wanted a balcony but there were none available. We enjoyed this cabin as it was quite roomy. All cabins on board have large flat screen TVs which is amazing. The TV choices are amazing. From live TV to very recent movie choices on demand. The best we have seen on a ship. The Pop Choir was a terrific experience particularly for us as we have never sung in a choir ever! Good fun. I was a little disappointed in the food generally but there were many choices. Room service was very efficient and the staff delivering were friendly and happy. Although we were cruising in Australia, we tipped $2 each time that Room Service delivered and they were very appreciative. I would recommend this cruise. Read Less

We took the trip to New Zealand and had a lot of beautiful stops on the way. They reversed the itinerary at the last minute because of a storm so that I had to change every single shore excursion but the pursers desk was helpful here. Some of the ports were fantastic and the scenic cruising was great but some of the ports were lackluster. The ship is a bit run down if you ask me. It seems like the stabilizers were not as good as on the Golden Princess so a lot of people got seasick in moderate weather. The purser's desk staff were very nice as was the crew but the tenders were leaking with only slight rain. Because many of the passengers were disabled there was not difficulty accessing exercise equipment. the Princess theater was too small for the group to all be seated at once. They should consider any time dining it was aggravating to have the late or early seating all the time.. They even charged us extra for Ice cream if you want it at the horizon court the same applied to hot chocolate upstairs but I noticed that if you go to the dining room at certain hours of the day you can get it included. Penny wise and pound foolish if you ask me! Read Less

The Sun Princess is advertised as wheelchair friendly. We found it to be the opposite. The doorways to the decks are raised on one side and unless you have a pusher you will be inside. The pool is only accessible by a sling chair I front of all the other guests. There was not one hot tub that had a simple stairway up and into the pool. The Sanctuary wAs built around the old Children's pool. The only access for wheelchair was on the kitchen freight elevator and an Adult area with a pool is a joke The one good thing was the rooms had been redone and the shower was accessible. The Room Steward Chay was the best ever. Don was ship bound on the first 2 weeks ad they would not take the wheelchair passengers on the renders. It says may be limited not will not take them. The food was certainly sub- princess quality. Thank goodness for staff. Lots of spicy food and dishes preparation for Asia. Most of the staff was finishing their time and this was evident. On disembarking the staff member took my husband in his chair down the ramp fast and the wrong way facing. They hit a join and my DH was ejected from the wheelchair. The staff responsible for reporting the incident did NOT, and we are now in a battle for compensation after 300 + with Princess we consider thus to be a slap in the face.   Read Less
