We left sydney end of march on cruise to Singapore..this was our first cruise. The ship was looking dated...we had a balcony cabin and was disappointed that it was relatively small..just enough space for my wife and I to sit together on it. Although the cabins were comfortable and of adequate size. The cabin crew were very good. The food was very good and the catering staff were exceptionally good. I would recommend eating in the restaurants rather than the self service..where the food appeared fresher and better quality. The biggest disappointment was the entertainment..it was generally abysmal ! Most of the shows were poor and we walked out of them as did others! The comedians were shockingly bad..the singers were very dated and the magic show consisted of two card tricks stretched out over 45 mins. Any of the amateur acts you see on tv talent shows would be better than most provided on this cruise. The only exception being Nathan .. Who was very good! Most were an insult to our intelligence! The soft drinks package was a waste of money.. The drinks were generally sickly full of syrup. We thought we could get latte coffes etc with this.. But needed to buy a coffee package for these! We could even get bottled water free under the soft drinks package! And the mock tails were inflexible.. When we ask them to make a variation on one of them.. Adding a combination of the two mock tails..they refused!! There was insufficient lectures from specialists about places and areas we visited or passed on our cruise.. So another let down. But thank goodness the weather was excellent.. Otherwise we would of left the ship at the first port if call! Get your act together.. Or we will never cruise with you again!   Read Less

Having sailed on the Sea Princess just 18 months ago, I was assured that the "sister ships" were identical. Sadly this did not prove to be the case.Princess would be better served spending a little less money on their new super ships, and spend a little more on making the Sun Princess more passenger friendly.Maybe we were just unlucky with our cabin, which had a few problems. My major disappointment was the time it took to resolve the problems. This was a repositioning cruise to Yokohama, but I felt that there could have been a stop between Sydney & Darwin. Six days at sea was a bit of a stretch at the start of the cruise. The staff, as always were great, but the process of getting passengers off the ship for shore excursions, particularly by tender, needs a bit of work. The loss of power while we were at anchor off Benoa was a major concern, and I really felt that there was a general lack of communication within the ship most of the time.Having said that, I'll be back, but probably not on the Sun Princess.
