My husband and I sailed on what we call "the cruise to nowhere", being the 19 March 2024 Brilliance of the Seas "11 day "cruise to the South Pacific from Sydney, Australia
The cruise was meant to head to Lifou, Noumea, Mystery Island, Port Vila and Luganville for 11 days. In the end we only (just) got to Lifou - the other ports were cancelled and the cruise was cut short from 11 days to 8 days ...
Overall: This was somewhat disappointing cruise that did not live up to the hype.
Embarkation: A breeze. Easiest boarding ever. No lines, knowledgeable people.
Cabin: We had a B-1 veranda stateroom. The room itself was fine. Flat screen TV, although not much to watch. (You could watch “Titanic” if ship disaster movies are your thing.) Adequate underbed storage for our soft-sided ...
I was nervous that the Norwegian Spirit wouldn’t be as nice an experience as Celebrity’s Equinox but it actually exceeded my expectations. Wonderful staff and service. Excellent food. Lots of fun entertainment and activities offered. Great basic drink package that included everything from martinis to Irish coffee, pina coladas and Coronas. The ship was smaller than the Equinox but nicely updated ...
We chose this Cruise to find out if a short 4-day cruise would suit us.
Overall it was a great cruise on a beautiful ship, we had a balcony cabin on deck 8 towards the middle of the ship, the cabin was spacious and decorated nicely, and the bathroom was small, luckily we are slim built, and it certainly was the smallest bathrooms we have experienced on the 12 other cruises we have done.
The ...
I am very, very thrilled that the bathroom configuration of the XL Sea Terrace is like that of a hotel room. The cabin is also large (very big indeed for a solo traveller). Finally, a hotel room on a cruise ship!
I am too lazy to make bookings for restaurants; but apparently if you don't book before you sail, the few restaurants that require booking are filled up already. I only managed to get ...
Overall, this was a really good cruise. The ship is clean and new, staff friendly and cabin welcoming. My main concern was the specialty dining … most options on the menu weren’t what I would consider appetising. In many instances, there was only one item on each section (starters, mains, etc) that I was able to actually think sounded ‘yummy’. The exception was Pink Agave, what a great meal!! We ...
This was our first Cruise with Virgin. We booked 40 days out and straight away I had problems scanning my passport into the app to complete the check in. It accepted then rejected it. Because of this I did not realise that We could book restaurants from the 40 day mark. This was critical as we were unable to book 2 restaurants and the shows for 3 nights once on board. The vessel on this sailing ...
Our friends kindly invited us to join them on this cruise and we did enjoy it.
We loved the show Persephone and was different to any other cruise line. I loved the hammock on the verandah so soothing. The Wake restaurant was also excellent. The Korean restaurant was not great - food not great and service was poor. In one restaurant I asked for some vegetables and they didn't have any.. was ...
A fantastic trip - entertainment and food is out of this world. Don't come on expecting a quiet trip, but it is what you make of it. The gym, classes and walking track are great. Make sure you book into gym classes and dining the minute you are able to. Our stop over in Burnie for the day was also a great add on and the locals are divine. Dining - Pink Agave dinner was the highlight followed by ...
We have only cruised with Celebrity Cruises (10 cruises to date) but decided to give Virgin Voyages a try as they were offering some great deals in late 2023 and we are a bit jaded with the nickel and diming that is going on at Celebrity (prices increases while reducing services without notice or compensation in some cases).
Sailed for 4 nights Sydney - Burnie - Sydney and overall we enjoyed ...
