Booked this cruise 6 months ago. From the get go was a terrible experience. Boarding was chaotic, over 2 hours to board despite having first boarding time of 11.30 am. Itinerary changes supposed to visit 6 islands. Ended up going to 2. No information given from crew. Stuck doing laps around sydney. 11 night cruise turned to 7 sea days. The new gym set up is a joke. Refurbishment.... What refurbishment. The removed the old gym which was excellent and turned johnny rockets into a gym 1 fith of the size. The removed the complimentary sauna and steam rooms and added 70 more cabins which is ridiculous. The ship felt over crowded and cramped in public spaces. Absolutely terrible. Cabins mouldy, old furniture and furnishings. Public spaces old. No refunds given, no complimentary movies etc. Royal Caribbean has really dropped the ball. This was my 4 cruise with them and most certainly my last. Guest relations was absolutely terrible. Food sub par. However service at dining room and windjammer from front of house staff was excellent. Read Less

Close to home, part of a group we have travelled on many times (Princess, Cunard, P & O International & Holland America), but this was all so different. Before we left we received an email that stated there would be extra health checks, what a joke, we signed a piece of paper & we were on board. Our biggest shock was there was no hand sanitation enforcement, didn't happen until the last few days of the cruise, and that was hit & miss, outside the dining room no-one supervising & many people just walked past. Overcrowded, terrible dress code, even on Elegant night in the dining room had to suffer bogans dressed in muscle shirts, board shorts & rubber thongs. Sorry I don't want to share a meal with hairy armpits. Met some lovely families with young kids who wouldn't even let their kids in the pool LOL We were on a cruise to the tropics. PS: it was not school holidays! Children running unsupervised everywhere putting themselves & others at risk, children were served soft drinks at the Casino Bar sitting on stools in the evening. No lounge bar was opened for pre dinner drinks, never saw the bar operating once in 10 days in the Cool Lounge, Piano Bar only open for about an hour later (after dinner). Won't go on any more, guess you have the picture, so I'll add some good things. Our room stewards were great, only do the room once a day, but that was okay. Good waiters & the food was okay, just restricted. Loved the singing waiters, and we booked a Ocean Suite but was upgraded to a Grand suite. The suite was huge with lots of cupboard space, spotlessly clean, a bit dated but every thing worked. Read Less

We Chose this ship as we were under the impression that after having a recent refit etc and having been on Carnival Legend we actually thought Splendor would be great, how mistaken were we. The embarkation and disembarkation processes were not too bad but they were the only good things. The whole boat was filthy when we first boarded and when we got to our cabin we had asked for two single beds and a double bed was made up, when the double was seperated and i went back into the cabin I stood on a rather large hair pin left by a previous passenger. I tried to find the stateroom steward to no avail and only saw him twice fleetingly on a seven day cruise.Four days before our cruise we were advised that Isle of Pines was closed,(the Australian Government had posted this information a week and a half to two weeks prior) so we would be going to Moreton Island, when we got there we were told we could not go ashore as the weather was too bad but they still launched at least five tenders which all passengers could see thus if the weather was too bad they were putting their own crews lives in danger. It was learned later that for at least four previous cruises nobody could get ashore at Moreton Island so why go there. The food in the Lido Bistro was lukewarm at best and the service was non existent, bar and waiter service was also nonexistent and there were children playing poker machines in the casino and staff had to be told but it still happened all day every day. The serenity lounge was overcrowded and there was also a group of girls flashing their breasts at everybody, these same girls were later seen on the smoking deck pole dancing and flashing in front of elderly passengers and children, it was also noticed that there may also been some nudity photos of these girls taken. There were fights onboard every night to which the security seemed indifferent and the same can be said about the underage drinking that went on and if Carnival have a responsible serving of alcohol policy then they don't on Splendor. There are many, many more things i could put up on here but they would take up too much room. And before anybody ask there were complaints made and ignored Read Less

Let me just say that this has been one of the worst cruises I've been on. The whole cruise has been one disappointment after another that has made what was supposed to be a happy and enjoyable birthday and 10th anniversary holiday into a depressing and boring cruise. From the horrible staff in the kids club that drove my 3yo daughter to tears, to the overcrowding of the ship so much that you can't get into anything, to the cancellation of the iFly due to weather but because of the overcrowding there's no more room for us, even with The Key. The food has been average, the entertainment has been ok but too packed. The room attendant even broke our personal soap holder. The baristas make coffees so hot that could burn holes in hell. We turned up for roller-skating on time to be told it was full and we needed to arrive earlier. We lined up for an hour in the hot sun waiting for the north star. The bionic bar keeps losing my drink orders even after they've been sent. The constant barrage of hard sales pitches from staff is annoying also. The lack of entertainment compared to the number of passengers is rediculous meaning so many people miss out. We paid for The Key to gain access to extra benefits but have found it absolutely useless as there's just too many people on the ship, other than the internet. And finally, theres been more than one occasion where I've walked into the toilets and there's been poo on the floor. The Ovation of the Seas ship has ruined not only my birthday but our 10th anniversary that we've been looking forward to for a few years. Read Less

Tacky decor, way too much pink. The ship was meant to have been recently refurbed but I don't know what they refurbed because things in the rooms were broken (lamps, bedside tables). The mirror in the bathroom had been moved however the old holes werent patched. The staff were not friendly, apart from the cabin staff and the 3 staff we had in the dining room. The food was absolutely awful. Only 4 options of salad and mains in the bistro and a lot of the food was tasteless and cold. The bistro had 4 sections but they all had the same food. However the chocolate soft serve was amazing and tasted just like a chocolate paddlepop. The dining room had almost the same menu as the bistro. The ship is not easy to navigate and we often got lost, especially trying to get to the dining room as you have to take multiple lifts and walk to the other end of the ship. We cruised to tasmania and it was incredibly rough on the way there, so bad so that they had to cancel our port in Port Arthur. Stayed docked overnight in Hobart. Tasmania was beautiful. We asked about getting off to fly home but were told we werent allowed to, even though we were still in Australia it was an international cruise line. Thankfully it was much smoother on the way back so we were able to enjoy it more. Would not recommend this cruiseline to anyone and will not be sailing with them again. Read Less

I expected better for the price I paid, The biggest problem for me was the food lacking taste nutrition and presentation was very bad, especially main dinning, very annoying when waiters continually asked how was the food when they knew I didnt like anything. Interior promenade view cabin was so noisy, music continued all night, I asked to be moved to another cabin and I was which was good. Walking down the Promenade was crowded noisy bands extremely loud and hard to do shopping but the shops weren't much anyway. Windjammer eating was poor quality also loud music staff singing washie washie songs I have no problem washing hands, but to be sung songs like we are children was embarrassing and annoying. Deck 11 full of drunks, couldn't watch outdoor movie but that happens on lots of cruises. Was very hard to find a quiet place, library was always full of people. Ship very cold. Read Less

Booked this cruise in 2018 because of the itinerary In the South Pacific, as previously we had missed a few islands because of a cyclone. The Coronavirus caused a few. Small islands into locked down so the itinerary was changed the day before, but still in the South Pacific. Once on board the itinerary was changed again lost four islands and given more sea days and an overnight stop in NZ (only cruised there last year) and a stop in Eden on the south coast of NSW. I do know what’s in the fine print, but changing countries without consultation or reimbursement is extremely poor. We will never do a Royal Carribean cruise again, this was a first time with them and now the last, this was out 15 cruise and never have we been treated the way RC treated us. Did not like the ship as everything was centred around the promenade, all the shops and small bars and they also did all the dancing classes making it very hard to move through the ship even on shore days the staff would rehearse holding up passengers, public areas lacking and no place to sit quietly very crowded on the ship, had to line up for meals in the dinning room every night. Did not see the captain once he did make a couple of public appearances but they were times we were at meals or they were for the exclusive members. We even had to get out of the lounge after trivia or bingo so the diamond class could use the lounge, leaving other passengers to try and find another place, mostly all full. Read Less

Cruised on the voyager of the seas on a 14 night South Pacific cruise. Was notified when we all boarded on sail out day that there would be a Major itinerary change and that the ports of Port Villa, Mystery Island, Lifou and Mare were now canceled due to the coronavirus scare. The cruise would now be re-directed from the warm South Pacific and Travel south to Cold Tauranga NZ and Eden south coast. A lot of disgruntled passengers due to the fact that RC didn’t choose a suitable port in a warmer climate such as North Queensland? Or no offers of reimbursement. That been said if anyone is reading this please take into consideration the RC ‘unlimited drinks’ package also is consumed by a lot of irresponsible cruisers. At Ike’s we felt that we were on a P&O party ship rather than a family cruise. Smoking area was situated right next to kids pool and spa with literally hundreds of smokers at any given time sucking down their cheap duty free smokes. Cruise had no atmosphere right from the get go with no band playing at sail out party or any sail out parties for that matter, which was a first from the 10+ cruises we have done sailing out of Sydney. Found the majority of the staff were quite jaded given that after talking with a lot of them the majority of staff were nearing the end of their 7 month work contract. We cruised on the Radiance of the seas 12 months ago and found the difference between the 2 ships was like cruising with a different cruise line, the 2 ships are similar size, however the voyager has around 1000 more passengers which made it near impossible finding a table for breakfast or lunch in the windjammer eatery. Disembarkment was a similar issue, also found all the deck chairs around the pool were taken early with people claiming them with their towels but not necessarily using them and the pool staff certainly didn’t police people reserving deck chairs. Also similar issue with the Pig and Whistle Tavern and the Cafe Promenade were always busy with a lot of elderly doing jigsaw puzzles etc in these areas and taking up tables for large extended periods of time and not being able to get a seat most of the time. The Gym on this ship is a joke and given what the Gym looked like before the recent renovations is somewhat of an insult. I found that this cruise was terribly pushy with a feeling of it being very overcrowded, the entertainment was below average, the food repetitive and found that this cruise had no atmosphere compared to the many cruises we have done beforehand. The Voyager has now made me reconsider how I Holiday now as I have done a cruise every 12 months since 2005 and this was the first cruise that We haven’t enjoyed. If you are considering doing a RC cruise just remember that the bigger the ship doesn’t mean better. If you have children then Carnival Cruises are the way to go they are more family friendly the food is better and they practice responsible service of alcohol with capping their drinks package at 15 per day. I chose the cruise for the port of calls and being a new Ship. What I found was this cruise is for the over 70's and disabled .Many of the crew members were enjoying guest services.the older people were hogging all the facilities and were a pain to walk past or get a seat anywhere. Food and entertainment is repetitive and boring, everytime I went to eat I felt like being in a hospital. The shuttle service to shore is packed before it leaves the ship and is extremely hot. On port days staff have no idea where people should go and NOT go. staff were overworked and seemed not to care. no decent music or shows to mention, only violin and piano everynight. There is DJ who is as boring as the music she plays. There is live band which makes a joke of any song they play. Female staff are dressed up to bring some glamour. Smoking faciltities are aweful. I would not recommend this ship to anyone under 50. Only highlight was the port of calls and the staff in the bars and children and youth program. Read Less

Friend selected cruise. She had been on carnival spirit. Horrible. Horrendous. Scrap assault. Food poisoning and food pressure. All of us. Drinks taking varnish off tables. Bad behaviour. Bad food and alcohol. Lack of security. Boss food. No information tool third day. Terrible planning of the ship. Nothing to do. But drink. Eat food that is killing you. Aggression on the boat. Thinking food drink and whatever they were using to clean the cups plates. No vegetarian gluten free options. Msg in the food. Best thing. Comfy beds getting off. Again I thank the universe I didn't take my son. Children young ones. Children touched everything. Do yourself a favour and never go on this ship. It was my first, scared me for any travel ever again on a cruise. My boyfriend's first and last. Nightmare. I feel terrible. My friend organised this cruise. One chess board. Slides kids didn't even ride. Boat rocked in call waters. Crew had no idea. People trying crew like garbage. I felt trapped as in jail with people that fight. Group of men hit on and beat up others. Man cut his girlfriend's face with glass. Kids in adult section with smoking. This is a nightmare of a cruise. Read Less

Very hard-working crew but simply too many people on the ship. At capacity of 3,700 guests, queues remained way too long for food, activities and tendering. Two small, cold pools (one adult only) completely insufficient for number on board and space outdoors and undercover are scarce. Kids/Teens clubs were inaccessible and poor. Visible signs of recent renovation were not obvious – still looked like an older, tired ship with incredibly gaudy, outdated décor catering to an American market. Continued hard sell (on spa, wellbeing packages, photography, alcohol) throughout the trip and unending pestering on guest surveys in the final days. This was our first time on a cruise and we were so disappointed by the experience of the crowds and feeling jammed in like sardines. Perhaps a common cruise experience out there however was definitely unexpected and therefore unpleasant. We will sadly and clearly be telling our family and friends not to ever book a holiday with Carnival. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it sounded so good with the new makeover and refurbishment.Well after a month in Singapore to do all the work I don’t know what happened because when we got on the ship was in poor condition, the interior looks a lot like an old run down casino in Freeman st Las Vargas .Problems started from the minute we arrived at Boarding,it took 3 hours to get on the ship then at least another hour to hand our passports in and put money on our ship card,It was extremely hot, no around staff didn’t know what they were doing,no one could answer questions or give directions. The ship is hard to get around during the entire trip only half of The lifts were working at any one time.Washing machines didn’t work for several days.A lot of rude staff,I asked for a glass if water in the adults only area on my first day and was told to get it my self.Food was not the best and nearly the same every day.No butter only a white spread they call butter it was disgusting, very expensive drinks, activities mainly involved money they pushed all activities that you had to pay ,nothing to do on Sea day, very little room around or in the pool due to the large amount of people.Tours extremely expensive and very hard to get off the ship on time.I have been on a lot of cruises and this one was definitely the worst.I would not recommend this ship.Staff need training,Chefs definitely need to learn to cook better and there needs to be a better variety of food, entertainment, and daily activities. This holiday took a great deal of difficulty to put together due to my mobility, getting from Perth to Sydney etc. We had travelled with Royal Caribbean before and on this ship but never before on any ship, and we have been on 11 cruises, have we had trouble sleeping because of noisy neighbours. We thought that on the first night when our neighbours came in at 3.30 ish making a great deal of noise that it would be a one off but no. It happened every night. Everyone said that we were too nice not complaining about it sooner but we didn't want the aggravation. After 5 nights we did complain and were moved to another cabin which allowed us at least a good nights sleep. Royal Caribbean offered us compensation for our inconvenience as they call it. The offer was a percentage of this cruise cost off our next cruise with them. It was the worst holiday we have ever had. Would we ever travel with them again, I very much doubt it. We had cruised with Royal Caribbean before and thought they were ideal for what we required. As well as our noisy neighbours there were many drunken teenagers on board many who seemed very young. I would go as far as to say underage for drinking. I thought that people under 18 were not supposed to be served alcohol. Is it that the drinks packages are not monitored and underaged people are allowed to have them? Is this the cause of the diobolical behaviour? There were small children crawling about on the dance floor. Very dangerous. Where were the security staff to stop such things? We hear that 3 boys were put off the ship in Noumea for being drunk and urinating off their balcony. Also that 2 families were locked in their cabin for fighting and put off at Auckland. We were also faced with a drunken yob in the theatre at 20.00hrs as drunk as a lord shouting out to the artist from the back of the auditorium. Again no security. It was all such a shame as the staff were good and the food and service in the restaurants was excellent. Unfortunately as we had been on this ship just a few months earlier we had experienced most of the shows before although they were very good. Our feeling is, big ships, more people doesn't add up to a cosy, friendly cruise. We have complained since to Royal Caribbean but have not had a satisfactory answer, hence the delay in putting in this review. This is surprising as until now this was our cruise line of choice because they seemed to respect the feelings and complaints of passengers. Read Less

Well we were extremely excited to be spending our honeymoon on the Carnival Spirit but the disappointment started pretty well as soon as we boarded and continued to stay true to form throughout the entire cruise! Where to start? * Upon boarding the ship we were given a letter that explained due to Bushfires on Moreton Island we were now going to be travelling to Hobart instead and to pack warmer clothing or Contact Carnival before Boarding date to receive a refund, little bit late for that considering we were already on board! An email or any form of communication prior to boarding would have been nice! * Once we boarded the ship we made our way to the buffet for lunch where we walked around for half hour trying to find a spare table * Tried to take a nice photo of the view out the window but the windows were absolutely filthy * Room TV was tiny and only had carnival channels and half a dozen other strange channels, no movies to watch, no DVD player * Only one power point in the entire room! * Our "queen bed" was 2 single beds pushed together that kept separating, so romantic.... * The food was the worst and actually what made the whole trip so much worse. The buffet food was over cooked, dry, flavorless, very little variety and the same food for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Their was minimal healthy options and the food literally made us sick. The restaurant food was a little better but after booking Anytime dining we were given 7:45pm seating which then meant to be able to go to the resteraunt we would be eating really late and missing the nights entertainment. When we decided we had enough of the buffet food and decided to try the resteraunt we were sat at a table of 10, expected to eat dinner shoulder to shoulder with another 4 couples, again such a romantic honeymoon dinner Read Less

This was our second time trying to see Fiji as an earlier cruise could not go there because of storms. Understandable. However from Day 1 toilet issues, unpleasant smells, internet dropouts, and earlier online excursions not showing on ships computer it was frustrating and infuriating. It almost looked like we were not going to make it to Fiji yet again. By Day 5 after MUCH reporting our toilet got fixed until the 2nd last day. The foul smells at times were overbearing. Lost our minutes on the mediocre internet which did get reissued. The Piazza area is far too small and dangerous. Often passengers were standing up and down the stairs to view the proceedings. Ruby Princess certainly had better days. Our first time on this particular ship. Our many other previous Princess cruises were great would not have any problem recommending it. A lot of other little things that pushed our COME BACK NEW to get us off here. My hubby hates flying so cruising is what we love to do. I have traveled with many of our family and friends. Choose well in future. The ship overall is small, feels claustrophobic. The dining was good. Most staff were pleasant however it was as if the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing. The safety drill was carried out in the Princess Theatre which was better than some other ships that have you standing up on the outside decks. Usually love the Princess line however Ruby did disappoint us. Read Less

I returned home today from a 8 night 9 day cruise to the South Pacific, on probably day 3 our living hell began, two women who myself and my children did not know only from bumping in to while I was on the smoking deck began to abuse me and stalk Harass intimidate and bully us , the women abused us so badly in the formal dining room my 12 year old daughter almost vomited all over the table she cried so hard , waiters stood and watched it took me to yell for security to drag them out , I had my life threatened. We could not attend events as the women would abuse us , my children were intimidated and bullied from enjoying activities, each time myself and my children begged security for help but only told to report in writing, staff told me to be the bigger person and walk away .. to were they followed us , these women had free rang while we were like caged rats , this abuse was constant for 5/6 days and still nothing was done , last night we had to lock ourselves in our room for 3 hours missing out on the main final party , this cruise is what my children picked for their Xmas present and all they got was a lack of duty of care to protect them from incredible abuse , this was our first holiday and the memory of it’s hell will last a life time , my children are scared to ever get on a shop or trust security to protect them from violent people, as a mother to see my children in fear and beg security for help and receive nothing will never leave me , my daughter who is 12 had a safe place the art gallery and shops but they found her hiding spot , I have spoke to royal cars Caribbean who did not care , what my children have endured and myself but certainly cared about paying our bill , I have contacted a solicitor to fight for my children’s rights because royal Caribbean certainly did not . Awful, nasty experience. Jeez where do I start?? I will dot point.. * the room had ONE power point. That's all. Called guest services and asked for an extension cord as I have a cpap machine. They didn't know what an extension cord was. * The so called lemonade is lemon cordial, the iced tea was a really strange flavour. Coffee from the machine was actually undrinkable... it was like drinking the grinds and hot water. We bought two cappuccinos from a cafe and they were barely coffee... so NO coffee for the whole trip * At brekky they have 2 toasters for everyone... be prepared to wait an eternity. * The staff still open ypur door of the room even when thete is a do not disturb on the door... not very nice when you're half naked * You can download their app and "free wifi" however if you want to keep contact and chat with another person on the ship it costs $9. So take a kiddies radio if you want to keep contact with ypur kids/ partner/ whoever, bring a radio on board. * it costs $30 to get JUST social media on the trip, or pay $50 to get that and e mail etc. The internet " cafe" is 3 computers in a walkway and cost , minimum, $15 for 24 hours. * the tv in the room is old , has about 8 channels, no movies or anything remotely watchable. There's no DVD player. * There's shampoo, soap and body wash in ypur bathroom. That's it. * The so called ' serenity ' adults only area was far from serene... jam packed and blaring music. I don't think they know the meaning of serenity. * The included restaurant... where to start? Firstly you have to stand in a huge queue, where you see the first staff with an I pad. Tell her your cabin number and she taps away at it for about 5 minutes, says no table available. Take a buzzer and go away!!! Come back when the buzzer goes. Get shown your table and given a terribly expensive wine list. The wine I like is usually $15 a bottle. There it was $50. And no option to buy just a glass. So no wine, lemonade or coffee. Then they blare this music out and do a dance. It's so noisy that we can't talk to each other. * The food was the absolute last straw. It was so disgusting that I am making a formal complaint. * NOT WORTH IT, DONT GIVE THEM YOUR HOLIDAY MONEY, wish I hadn't!!! Read Less

We thought we would give a cruise a go for the first time and it was a huge waste of money and it was a stuff up right from the start. We didn't get the room we paid for and the day we got on board was very close to the day we were getting off. The room is no bigger than a jail cell and the bathroom you cant hardly move as it was that small. We went with a child and they hated it with a passion.Even though we had a balcony you could not sit outside or have the door open without the really strong smell of cigarette smoke so get a blacony if you want to end up with CANCER. On the pool deck adults could not get into the very small spas as it was built for 2-3 adults comfortably and even then all you could do is breathe the strong smell of cigarettes so again stay on if you want second hand smoke and CANCER.Everything was a money grab including bingo / eateries on board / hardly anything for free. Its all a gimmick to rip you off and the money on your account you had better watch that as they will take money out without your knowledge and then say oh you dont want to donate ?? What a lot of CRAP and the so called on shore tours are so bodgy and overated it has a bloke that uses cheap camera gear that doesn't even work or set up properly i think 5 year old kids could do better that was so badly done and disorganized. The labour they have on the boat are been ripped off in wages and im talking about anyone that is not in a white uniform as like kitchen staff / cleaners etc and we felt so sorry for them as they get paid $28 a day , yes thats right a DAY for a 10.5 hour shift and that is 7 days a week. What a misjustice for these poor people and P&O cruises take advantage of them and treat them as slave labour. These cleaners and kitchen staff are the most freindlest people and hard working i have ever seen especially in the pantry. They will bend over backwards to help you and are always helpful. We gave a lot of them good tips even though you don't need too and a lot of them send most of their wages back home to their own country and what we were told are on the boat for around 7 months at a time working 7 days a week. We were disgusted at the way P&O crusies take advantage of people from other countries and use them as slave labour. These people were the only ones that were polite and courteous as the ones in the white uniform wouldn't give you the time of day.The ONLY reason it made it a bit better was the cleaners / kitchen staff / and manual labour they had working on the decks as they were so much more polite and helpful than the P&O staff that were just there to take your money which ever way you could. We went to make a booking with some of the PAID resturants on board but their attitude sucks but we gave it a go anyway. What a joke as the food was sloppy and dripping with oil and even the meat was hard as a rock. YOU wouldn't even give it to the dog so for a meal for 3 of us cost us $167 and it was just rubbish / Mcdonalds or KFC would have been better and you know what that is like at times. Over rated and poor quality rooms and dont be surprised if you dont get the room you pay for as we talked to another couple who did not get the room they paid for and had to have 2 of the kids sleep in the same bed as the parents as they did not get the room they payed for and P&O staff said nothing they could do on board. So watch out people Read Less

God were to start : We booked this holiday over a year in advance, hated it from start to finish and at one point looked at getting off the ship and getting a flight home it was that bad, no good comments at all for this ship. . The ship was massively outdated even though it was suppose to have been remodeled and was extremely dirty all over. . The room was an absolute disgrace, I dont think it was cleaned the entire 10 days on board. Same dust in corners of room all of our trip and kids toys from the other people that had been on before us everywhere, when we asked the room steward to clean it he reckoned he did . . The kids club I took my 5 year old on 1 sea day because she wanted to go , I took her out after 5 minutes it was like prison they was just a massive room with parts sectioned off for different age groups , no control over kids and staff just sat talking didnt go back again. . The food was an absolute joke , we had breakfast the first day didnt eat it again it was disgusting, the buffet I wouldn't have feed that food to my cats it was that bad , no selection and was all cold , the main dining room ok but nothing to write home about, and the paying restaurant again was ok but not worth the $55 each they charge , the staff In the paying restaurant was a joke . .The excursions on the ship was a RIP off , we went on the cruise from sydney to port Douglas wasnt worth it to be honest , bad weather to entire way up, really rough seas and no information at all for the entire cruise from captain , I think we heard him talk once no updates on weather or conditions of sea or anything , we had a couple of days were we got off on tenders and we honestly thought we was going to sink, the crossing was really bad and was such rough seas and a long journey over to land from were we dropped anchor( 30 minutes ) . They was people been sick and screaming on the tenders , the tenders was dipping to one side and water was coming in , if the captain would have put out a warning we wouldn't have chanced it considering we have a 5 and 15 year old with us . Overall experience was we hated every minute of it would not reccomend carnival cruises to anyone. My advice save your money it wasnt as if it was any cheaper then other cruises we have been with before and they was a million times better Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was the only option that was available for school holiday. The cabin and balcony are small for $4040. The food is average overall. The continental breakfast on Deck 9 is really a disappointment with limited choices. The main dining is ok only because of the melting chocolate cake but not great. Outdoor facilities are always occupied such as golf, basketball, pingpong. I had tried at least 3 times and eventually given up trying coz always crowded. The basketball court (apparently also for volleyball) is very small and always full of people. The staff are very friendly- perhaps the only highlight. Entertainment such as shows and live music are only average. I went to the same 3 Islands the same deal last year with Pacific Eden which i paid a lot less but with much greater experience on board. Overall I am greatly disappointed and won't come back at all. Read Less

Princess has now taken cost cutting to a whole new level. Only PLASTIC picnic plates, mugs and tumblers are provided in the buffet, Horizon Court. This really is unacceptable. Huge fares are still being charged and, with these changes, they shouldn’t be. I don’t eat off plastic at home when I’m not paying a huge fare. The food here is also extremely boring. Exactly the same ingredients on the salad bar were provided every single day, never changed. The “fresh” fruit was sliced and floating in some sort of liquid. Most of the hot food was sitting in fat of one sort or another. The general atmosphere in this area is like feeding time at the zoo. The service, however, is excellent. The food in the dining room wasn’t much better and two of the people on my table complained so bitterly that they were given the next night’s menu to see if there was anything acceptable and, if not, they could order something they wanted. It was very apparent that the choice of food was better in the buffet as the numbers in the dining room had greatly dropped. The cabins are extremely small with no lounge or armchair. Shampoo and conditioner are not provided but some detergent-like substance in a container in the shower which does nothing for hair but makes lots of suds, that is after you’ve managed to extract it from the container. Shower caps and bath robes are only provided on request. The televisions are tiny and not worth trying to watch especially as there’s no programme provided. The cabin steward, Melvin Valesquez, was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the cabin was very quiet. Then again, the whole ship was quiet by 11pm as that’s when bars and lounges close and the vacuuming of the public areas begins. Lorentz, Assistant Cruise Director, was excellent in the Ryder Cup Golf Challenge in which 55 people participated. We all thoroughly enjoyed his imaginative and inventive holes. Entertainment was mediocre with too many comedians. “Encore” was an excellent show by the on-board singers and dancers which I would be happy to see again. Donny Lee Ivins (a singer) was excellent. Chris Pawley (a singer) was also very good. I would avoid Princess at all costs if this is now the standard they are offering. Plastic is definitely not the way to go in this current environment. There are too many other cruise lines now operating out of Australia and Princess needs to lift its standards if it intends to compete. Read Less

It was for a family celebration the buffet food was terribly the crew that was serving the food hardly spoken a word and I went I mean hardly spoke a word I don't mean couldn't speak English I mean did not say a word. At least they didn't in the buffet areas if you went to get the Mexican all the burgers no hello no nothing they just stared at you like you were idiot, no alcohol packages and the food in the dinning room was the same most night or didn't have much variety and very small portions..... The ship itself was was swarming with kid in all the bars and casino even at 1am with the only place that was supposed to be adults only The Serenity lounge was placed below the water slides at the front of the ship so you can still hear screaming kids the entire time The safety drill at the time of disembarking was very unorganised if you hadn't been on a cruise before you wouldn't even know what you were doing there we stood on the outside of the ship for over an hour just so they can show you how to put on a life vest that was it ridiculous!!!! As for the activities on board there was over 50 activities a day but you could not participate in pretty much anything without children around even in the comedy shows Read Less

If you are expecting variety, pleasant atmosphere, entertainment, luxury, relaxation, or well maintained facilities, EVEN wifi, you'll be in for a nasty shock. This was our first cruise. We will NOT be going back to Carnival cruises ever again. Our cruise was just a 4 dayer to Moreton Island. It's fortunate my husband and I can entertain ourselves, because this cruiseline is geared towards a) little children who don't know any better b) people who like to be in bars for 26 hours a day c) those with bad hearing d) dummies who would pay for things that should be freely available and e)....ah...shall I say less than your average sort of person. BOARDING: We had priority boarding. It went quite well. We arrived at 11am and boarded at 11.10. The problem was, our room was supposed to be one of the first ready, and it wasn't. No where near. We had nothing to do for 2 hours + while it was sorted. In fact, doors to accommodation were closed, with signes on Do Not Enter, until 1.30. Even then, ours was still locked and incomplete with no card to get in. Apparently we should have been able to get in early. So we had to hang around, lucky Sydney was so pretty to look at. CABIN: Our room was nice, we'd paid extra for a vista suite, one of the most roomy cabins in the ship, aft. Very nice, and nice and clean thanks to our very nice lady, Sunny, who was one of the few highlights of the cruise. The balcony was dirty and glass filthy. Don't expect a roomy suite, it's still a little cramped, but to be expected. It has a very nice balcony, wrap around the stern. Worth the money for the view and the 'get away from it all'. It had a delicious bed,...that's one of the 'dot' ratings. Pillows annoying, but the bed was lovely. The room had curtains on rails which swung and squeaked after every trough and wave. Try that when you're going to sleep??? Door to the bathroom kept swinging too. The lights, which dimmed if held pressed, were a nightmare to navigate. all over the place and which ones did which was a mystery. Plenty of hanging space and drawers (if you need that sort of thing), a big bathroom, if you need THAT sort of thing. Stupid shower water mixer, obviously people are scalded by it, because there was a sign on the wall. I hate combo faucet/shower heads where you have to press or pull the button to choose. A small lounge area with TVs, one chair had back wheels missing, never could work out if on purpose so it leaned back, or not. Lounge was diabolical. FAR to wide to sit leaning back, and vinyl, so you slipped when you tried. No cushions. If you're only 157cm, (5'2") it was ridiculous. Bottles of water cost $4.50 each. Not even one for free. Hmmmm. I'm beginning to start to wonder. DECOR: of the ship......oLD FASHIONED TACK. oh me..oh my. Think a cross between a bad Buckingham Palace / Titanic / Op shop - and you'll get my drift. (pardon the pun). ANY level surface was patterned with faux 1930s patterns. Nauseating carpet patterns, golden cupids and fat GOLD heads, swirls and glass and pretend copper and brass, wood veneer, and giant chandeliers and claw footed furniture. Oh, and my personal favourite.....the fake frescos of nude gods, goddesses, angels and just...well just naked people badly painted ...actually really HORRIBLY painted, all over the ceilings and on multiple rondels around the walls. Add to that the framed artwork...matching I'll add....of (yes you guessed it) more naked people, very ordinary artworks of things like greek gods. In our suite, Venus was being fondled by Cupid. It was pedophilic. I can't understand why someone let that be hung in a room! You've no idea how off-putting it was to wake up to that huge poster every morning. the artist should be shot. So should the decorator. It was the most hideous attempt at vintage glamour I've ever seen. TACKY. Ostentatious Tack. MAINTENANCE: The outside of the ship was not much better. I was literally scared that the balcony of our room might fall off, there was so much rust under the paint. The RAILING was stuck on top of the old one, which was warped, peeeling and rusted. The glass along the railing was absolutely filthy, as were our cabin windows. That's a shame since you could see nothing when inside the cabin, looking through dirty windows and a dirty glass railing. aLL throught the ship I noticed peeling veneer, broken foam faux gold leaf cupids etc, In our suite I found it ludicrous that a fairly nice birds eye veneer was used on cupboards and drawers and then old 1980s gold tone plastic handles attached which colour was worn off. Wardrobe door would not slide. Looking at the interior of other ships, this one was a decor disaster, and I'm not even fussy! SAFETY DRILL - i WAS pretty annoyed when we were hearded out onto the deck (though the temp was nice) and made to stand there for 20 minutes, while nothing happened, then a ridiculously simple safety blurb - how to put on a life jacket. (really??) and then stand there for a nother 10 minutes whjile nothing happens. Then a very loud horn (there go a few more of my aural cilia) and we're apparently allowed to go. FOOD: tHERE are 3 main areas to eat. a) the communal eat what you want, as much as you want, wheneve you want. (Except you can't, because it's not open all the time, only the pizza, tea and coffee is.) b) The posh restaurant upstairs. c) the main restaurant comprising of 2 levels. The food was ok. Pretty good, acceptable. I don't want to make it sound great. It was fresh enough,a nd there was plenty of it. We ate at all 3 places. POSH RESTAURANT; we booked in very early. Months ago. When we arrived we were annoyed that there was not a window table as we'd asked. "Sorry, we don't do that' he said. Why book then?? He said first come first served. Again...why book then? Food was nice, but my lobster was way overcooked. I'd say in a warmer or something for a while. It was even tough to cut. (It was my one splurge dinner.) Sides were ordered. Broccoli. 2 tiny pieces of broccoli. (If I'd known that I would have order 4 serves!!) and mash with wasabi for my husband. About 2 tablespoons of mash with no wasabi. I couldn't taste any. He couldn't taste any. So I'm saying the sides were a waste of effort. Big steak though. And tender. And we were asked "All OK?" "All good?" "Is food ok?" so many times, I lost count. Literally 20 times by 3-4 different people. It was sooooooo annoying. I had a mushroom entree which was delicious. Then the overcooked lobsters. Then a chocolate sphere, which I understood to be filled with something else..., actually it was all just chocolate, melted with melted chocolate, and with chocolate inside and chocolate smeared on the edge. ERgh. I love choc. But no counterpoint to give some contrast it was sickly. Hey chef, ever heard of raspberries? or orange? or even cream? Meals are $55 for choice of 3 courses. EMPIRE RESTAURANT: (THE middle one) Staff are tremendous. Work like trojans serving all the hundreds of people, sitting at decadently decorated tables in the ostentatious huge dining room. They're quick, efficient, and super friendly. The menu is not anything special. It has most of the food that is also served upstairs at the posh restaurant (for an exctra $30), and all of the food from the serve yourself buffet, but put on a plate for you. (free). You can choose what you want, multiple times if you want. So it's really like a buffet, but you can't see the food and someone else gets it for you. It's ok food though. Except I had bouillabaise last night which was just a broth with a few teeny bits of seafood chucked in at the last minute. And a cooked apple with lime pie inside, the apple was so tough I couldn't cut it, obviously not cooked enough, and my husband had one too, but it was only half the size!!! Breakfast is also held in this room. BUFFET: Welcome to cattle class. In many respects. Pushers, shovers, pigs. (sorry, but true. - I guess this style attracts it.) I enjoyed my couple of visits to the buffet as the food was fine, it was the people who weren't. Also, Carnival, your set up...organisation of food stations is abysmal. Identical lines of food from both sides, both converging inwards to the same place is ridiculous. Especially when that place is also the coffee and tea station. I enjoyed a cantina outside which did taco type things. It was fresh and interesting. There's an all day pizza place, but other than that, only tea coffee hot choc and something they called lemonade, but to us (Aussies) it's very strong sweet lemon cordial. It was hideous. Really, no soft drinks or even WATER!!! No juice either. I suppose you could get it from the bar if you wanted to. BARS: Speaking of bars...the inumerable multiple bars all over the ship. You couldn't escape them. Clearly the focus of attention for designers. 2/3 of the public areas ...at least...were bars. Maybe you like that.. I didn't. Why on earth would you drink inside a ship, when you could ...well...drink outside of one? And why is there a need for 7 or more bars? Bar people will not make drinks to order. One day, I went to get a cocktail. I wanted one without orange juice as I'm allergic to it. I asked for a cocktail off the list, but substitute the oj for coconut milk or something, as I like it creamy. Barman said no. I thought he was joking. He said can't do. I said 'What?" he said can't leave out orange juice. I said I don't want oj. He said I can't do. People around me are shaking their heads...what? why? pick something else. OK...pina colada but no ice. No. Can't do. (pina colada's aren't made like dacquiri, they're not icy, and he was making them like that.) No can't do. I asked him why, he just shook his head. I said, but I'm paying for it!!! So I had to make a complaint. I never ever complain. Long stoir short. Dep Head Barman explained. They won't make drinks to order. Too many people on board. (I'm thinking, why would you hire barmen that can't make drinks to order? the bars are never crowded because there's so many of them.) Also, apparently no coconut milk. Really? on a tropical cruise? They use pina colada mix. No pineapple juuice, no coconut cream. Just a stodgy looking mixture. ergh. NO WIFI - unbelievably, there is no wifi on the ship. (I'm not an idiot, I can work out why. - they do not want passengers on their phones or tablets for free, instead of bars and restaurants, casino and shops where they would be spending money.) For this reason also, there is NO NEWSAGENT, NO BOOKSHOP etc on board. They don't want you reading, when you could be drinking or gambling or otherwise spending more money!!! So after leaving sydney and my 4g carks it, I start to wonder. Where is the wifi. I get the Carnival Hub,a nd to my dismay it costs $72 PER PERSON to get 4 day cruise long middle of the road wifi. (not hispeed and not all sites, eg no youtube). You can switch devices, but not at the same time. So husband and I could not be on wifi at once unless we had two accounts. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Even aeroplanes have wifi. Coober Pedy, in the desert of South Australia has wifi and that's 850 kilometres away from the nearest city. And you're telling me acruise ship, 10kms off coast, can't give wifi? It's because it's another cash grab. Pay for wifi, or pay to do something else. No entertainment for free on this ship. So we bought ONE wifi account, swapping devices, and only one of us using it at a time, when we needed to. however. IT WOULDN'T WORK IN OUR BEDROOM OR ON OUR BALCONY. Wifi is garbage on the ship. It's slow, and I don't know about you, I like lying in bed looking at emails whenI'm on hols. And I had to sit on the bed, as I couldn't sit on the slide wide sofa. But I couldn't get wifi in the bedroom. Soooooo annoying when I'd paid $72 for it. That's more than 2 months worth of wifi I pay at home! ENTERTAINMENT: As you may have observed, I'm not a fan of 24 hour drinking, gambling or eating. I naively expected there to be entertainment on board. Adult entertaiment. Not "ADULT" but for adults. Not bean bag tossing. Not the hairy chest competition. :/ NOT a lecture about ...wait for it....wrinkles. I didn't want to have my photo taken, I can do that. I would have played trivia or even bingo in a pinch, but these more fun games were held in random spaces in side passages in a few seats in a cafe with people filing past and talking through them. It was impossible. Adn it wasn't for grown ups so kids were running around and talking. Seriously? Think about it. Can't hear the question, can't hear the answer. No point. So...THINGS TO DO. Virtually nothing. Unless you like drinking eating or gambling or spending money on rubbish. There are shops (jewellery, souvenirs, photos.) tHAT'S it. There are theme nights, if you're willing to risk your hearing. An 80s night for this cruise. Nothing else going. So if it's raining or windy, be aware. You will be very very bored. No internet, no books, tiny pools, no activities worth doing. Just a thought...Carnival. Try some FREE activities. What about a 'get fit' class on the deck. What about an 'All about Moreton Island' exhibition for 2 days ont he way there, and an 'all about the ocean' exhbition on the way back. What about a singalong, a talent show, a cooking exhibition. What about a FREE tour of the engine room (you had to pay). What about a mini borrow-library? A music room? A makeup show. The activities were pathetic and cash grabs, and here's the worst of them. ART AUCTION: There was the most bizarre art show I have ever witnessed. And being an artist myself, I have witnessed plenty, including some pretty odd ones. The organiser was a woman who spoke 3.75 x the speed of sound. Even when she was speaking 'normally'. People were sniggering behind their hands at her. She needs to take something to slow her up a bit. Around 30 minutes of blurb on how, why, who and when, would have been soporific, but for the voice of Speedy Gonzales. she informed us that SHE would determine the starting price, NOT the buyers who usually start an auction. (OK....), and SHE would put in bids whenever she felt necessary. (??? OK......) And the starting bid for the first piece of work was $6000. Six Grand. Did I hear correctly? or have my ears lost 75% hearing due to the ridiculous noise of the music in all the bars? You might not flinch at that. But the 'work', was done in highlighter and permanent marker. In fact, I have never seen such a flagrant upsell, overqualifying sales pitch for such utter rubbish in all my life. The 'works', were clearly up to 20 years old, absolutely revolting pictures, sad huge old gold tone wooden frames bashed and beaten, and reused over and over agiain, with the work begin recycled for cruise after cruise, until some idiot buys it. at $6000. I would say none of the work was painted in Australia. It6 looked like 1980s American junk store stuff. Oh boy. To add insult to injury, a 'free' glass of champagne and orange was offered just before the auction to soften the wallets of the numbskulls who were considering a hefty purchase. Only to be outbid by the seller, who could put in a bid over you to bid you up. Leaving you bidding against yourself. They called it 'collecting'. You can collect art from your cruises. People. People. Do yourself a favour. Go to Saint Vincent de Paul op shop. Pick up the same type of thing for $4 and be done with it. Or better, go to the art show of a local community Art Society and pick up a beautiful artwork recently painted, with genuine provenance, and the blessing of the artist, in a clean and modern frame. $500 should buy you a real cracker! PUBLIC AREAS: did I mention the music? No relaxing music, just super loud, aggravating ear pounding music. In all the bars, and pool areas. All the time. Even the accoustic guitar guy, who was the best of them, was sooooooo loud I wouldn't have put my children in the pool near him. No relaxing anywhere there. Nup. SPEAKING OF POOLS: Not pools. small spa style areas. They LOOK like pools in the pictures because of the huge overflow areas, like paddle areas about 1" deep, but which take up 2/3 of the pool area. The pools themselves are minute. About 4-5 metres long adn 2-3 metres wide. It would fit 20 people in max. No self respecting adult is going to get into a pool that small with 100 kids trying to get in. There is a 'serenity' area which has an even smaller pool. Think about it. Thousands of people. tiny tiny pools. I didnt travel with my older chldren, thank goodness. they would have been bored out of their trees. MORETON ISLAND. We loved it. We took our snorkel gear and walked the 2kms or whatever it is up to the wrecks and swam around on them looking at the gorgeous sea life. Then found a quiet sushi bar and bought an Asahi and a sushi. OH! I almost forgot. THE SHUTTLE BOAT. How could I forget that. It was an exciting experience to say the least. The WAITING: We were told we could o over at any time. We left at 9.50. We didn't ACTUALLY leave until 11.10am. Why? because there were tiny shuttle boats, and so few of them, and we were all herded into the auditorium with numbers, waiting our turn. It took over an hour for our turn. Really? There has to be a better way. The cruise director made it sound like we were SOOOO lucky to be getting on "Now for lucky 38. If you're 38 you can go to the island!!" It was ridiculous. At least have some entertainment for the 400 or so people all waiting to leave. the DRIVER: Picture this. You give your $150,000 car to your 14 year old to drive up to the shops and back. That's what it felt like. On the return trip, our boat driver was so pitiful it beggared belief. My husband is a Master 5 ticket holder, meaning he can drive BIG boats. He felt like he should go and offer assistance he was so pathetic. First, he zigzagged his way through the passage with reverse thrusters every time he needed to slow or turn. (use twice as much fuel and spin the boat around erratically, over steering to compensate.) It took 10x longer to get back than it did to come over. Worst, when we came alongside the ship, he tried to reverse it again, it should have taken around 12 seconds, with maybe 3 manouvres. It was a fairly calm sea. He botched it so badly the boat spun around 360 degrees TWICE! another boat came in, instead, probably to show the driver how to do it. (aka don't reverse up, just drive up to it!!) our driver still did not do that, mucking around over steering and reversing, and ultimately going forward, but so poorly he crashed into the SHIP!! All the passengers screamed, and while I knew nothing would happen, the sound was tremendous and the other passengers scared. Crew were standing on the ship watching the pitiful attempt, in disbelief. There was even a small vessel coming in, a bumpered vessel like a 'pusher', to help 'push' the shuttle into position. It was atrocious. And terrible of Carnival to hire boat drivers in charge of their passengers who have no skill and put lives at risk. They should be ashamed. You may have figured this kind of cruise is not for me. I have done many things like this, and don't get seasick. But I was dismayed at this cruise. It was a cash grab pure and simple. Only the staff saved it. Most of them anyway. They were helpful and worked hard. Probably don't get paid enough for the hard work they do. Most were overseas workers from the Philippines or Russia. There so called alcohol package is truly unlimited and the staff clearly don’t abide by a responsible service of alcohol this is a huge concern one that could backfire quite easily. Our cabin was nice kept clean we didn’t really see our guy that much but was pleasant and there to help if you needed. The outside pool on deck 14 was tiny for a ship it’s size. The adults only area only had spas and a shallow pool to sit in There was an inside pool also quite small. The entertainment day and night was very average. Unfortunately we missed 1 port to bad weather and there was no programme arranged until lunchtime We made our own fun but overall I wouldn’t recommend this ship . Read Less
