This cruise was very average and nothing to recommend people on, most of the staff are fantastic (and completely over-worked).
The ship was OK but looking poorly for a twelve year old ship, and the layout as good once you got accustomed. Hygiene is not Carnival strong point, so you have to be pro-active here as most of the passengers are not.

Overall our holiday was good, but there were a few things that brought down the enjoyment.
Our stateroom was assigned by RC on the starboard forward part of deck 6 and was above the deck 5 smoking area. This meant when we wanted to use the balcony, we got cigarette smoke in the air. Service has dropped considerably.

…..BUT COULD DO BETTER.
Most of the usual PRINCESS pluses were apparent. Great entertainment, hard working cabin, food and wait staff. A decor not as over the top as some competitors. Lower booze prices and the chance to bring on-board 329 2 free bottles of wine + pay corkage on more.

I chose this cruise as a single parent with a young child. The cruise staff were outstanding, especially the kids' club (3-5 yr olds). We were excited to go on the Carnival Spirit once again (this was our 3rd time with Carnival). Chose this cruise as we wanted a New Year getaway and have done the same trip on Legend and enjoyed it.
Elaboration and disembarkation were fat, professionally and seamless.
Cabin was fine. We only slept there so we didn't need anything fancy.
A lot of the same stuff as Legend. Lidocaine deck, Serenity Pool, Red Frog Pub, etc.

We were part of a large family group on this cruise.
The ship is well setup for families with teens and younger children, and being a holiday cruise there were lots of them - everywhere!
You have to keep in mind, Carnival is a 3 star cruise line, so don't expect the same level of service and amenity you might get with other " relatives" of the Carnival family.
