Not up to standard!

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

We choose to experience the bigger ship but it fell short on expectations. Symphony dining was one third full with two people at 8 seater tables. Background music was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves with the Head Waiter saying it couldn’t be changed as it was arranged from Miami. Some diners were dressed in singlet shirts, caps and thongs and the Head Waiter said they would be offended if told ...

Explorer of the Seas - Tired

We are Diamond+. 45 cruises in 3 years. Why do ships make rules, but don't enforce them, e.g. dining rooms - men wearing shorts t-shirts and thongs, not good enough! Junior cruisers without adult supervision up to 1am? Yikes, disaster. No ticketing for tenders and ice shows - you have to be kidding, a recipe for disaster. Children playing games on the dance floor, whilst people ...

Booked this cruise because I wanted to see the South Pacific but was somewhat disappointed. Stops in Fiji were not very good. Vanuatu was much nicer especially if you like to snorkel. Lifou, New Caledonia was also very good for snorkeling. We had to skip Noumea, New Caledonia due to high winds. I was told it is common for some ports of call to be canceled on South Pacific cruises. Passengers ...

No effort put into this cruise

I chose those cruise because I have had a good experience with Royal Caribbean before and expected the same. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The best bar, Dizzys on deck 14 with the best view, was unavailable every single day, closed for Diamond only! This is clearly unfair. Even when it was open, there were long periods it was unattended. Staff apologised as they kicked people out at ...

Carnival Spirit – The fun ship?

It had been a few months between holidays and, getting restless, Kirsten suggested a last minute cruise she’d seen on sale. I started dreaming of all the meals we’d be eating without needing to prepare, shop, cook or clean up and without much hesitation, I was in. The cruise was a 12-day South Pacific jaunt aboard the Carnival Spirit, departing and arriving back to our home city of Sydney which we ...

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

We chose this cruise because it was going to a few places that we hadn't cruised to before in the North Island of NZ, not because it was on Ovation of the Seas. We found the ship to be very clean and modern, elegant but personally I prefer Radiance, Voyager and Explorer, they are a bit more personal and have more atmosphere. Ovation is a great ship for families with lots for kids and teens to do ...

Beautiful ship but...

Had heard great things about this ship so thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately it has no atmosphere. It's like a shopping mall in both looks and feel and there's always someone wanting to sell you something. I didn't expect it to be a party style ship. Enjoy a drink sure...but to excess, why. For such a huge ship there are no peaceful corners. Not even the Adults Only Solarium which ...

Expected better after sailing on other Royal Caribbean ships

Had to queue every night for dinner in Silk even though we had made reservations each day. Struggled to find a table in Windjammer every day for breakfast and lunch and then were constantly bombarded with announcements asking us to hurry up and leave. Often could not get sun lounges in Solarium. Bars kept running out of our favourite drinks. Had to get to Royal Theatre 30 minutes ...

10 Day Cruise to NZ North Island on Carnival Spirit

I enjoyed an earlier cruise to New Caledonia on Carnival Spirit. Unfortunately the second time around was not so good; perhaps because we were in an inside cabin this time. The cabin itself was quite a bit smaller than I expected. There was no lounge chair, only a single chair, plus a stool in front of the dressing table/ desk. The single beds in our cabin were only 2’ 6” wide which is too ...

Nice cruise, not brilliant, a little bit disappointing.

Unfortunately, HAL has gone downhill in our opinion. We haven't cruised with them for a few years due to dates and prices, so were expecting similar experiences that we had before. The ship itself is kept extremely clean and the staff are wonderful. The main issues were the food, entertainment and the Loft (lack of). Firstly, the food in the main dining room for the first few days of ...
