About the Reviewer: I’m a mid-30s male who cruised solo. I used the Explorer of the Seas as a vehicle to leisurely get home after intense touring in Australia and New Zealand. This was supposed to be my second non-charter Royal Caribbean sailing but my first one on the Radiance to go around New Zealand was cancelled (April 6 departure). Overall, this was my fourth Royal Caribbean cruise with the ...

The ship was nice. We have sailed on her Sister the Navigator and we love this class of ship. However the refit in areas wasn't so great. The entertainment was shockingly awful in the theater however the Ice show in Studio B was simply incredible! The cabin was fantastic I couldn't have asked for more and our steward was one of the nicest men you could ever wish to meet. The Dining was fantastic ...

MELBOURNE, NEW ZEALAND NORTH ISLAND, SYDNEY, TRANSPACIFIC & SEATTLE Explorer of the Seas cruise is half way down this review On March 27 we left for the Brunswick, Georgia Airport and our trip down under returning in part with a transpacific cruise to Seattle. We arrived in Melbourne on the morning of March 29 after four flights and over 35 hours of travel. Delta would not allow us to ...

We chose this cruise because of the destinations and to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We had an amazing time! The ports of call were incredible. We love cruising and enjoyed 23 nights on this Transpacific cruise. The ship size is perfect....love the Promenade. Good food, excellent service, lots of activities and our Cruise Director Graham was great!! Embarkation and Disembarkation went ...

We frequently visit family in Australia and wanted to combine it with something different, and this cruise fitted in well with our timings. We know Sydney very well and it was nice to board a cruise there. Embarkation at Circular Quay could have been a tad better organised, at least outside the terminal. When there are 3500 passengers all wanting to get on board the scrum for getting rid of ...

This was the first time my wife and I have cruised with Royal after cruising 4 times with Celebrity. We were expecting it to be a bit less quality to Celebrity. But it wasn't at all. The ship is 18 years old. Royal have done a great job keeping the ship in good condition. There isn't really anything to complain about. All the bars are great, the specialist restaurants were amazing. The main dining ...

Wanted the experience of crossing the Pacific and this did not disappoint. The embarkation was a debacle but once on board the staff and crew really delivered. Kudos to Graham and his entertainment team that worked so hard for us on the many sea days. Some of the entertainment was terrible namely the juggling firemen (more suited to a kids birthday party than cruise ship entertainers) and the ...

We chose this cruise as we wanted to go to USA the long way round! It was a great cruise made better by the wonderful people we met, and got to know a little of, while aboard. 23 days sounds a long time, but the days flew by with trivia, great entertainment, interesting lectures - did I mention trivia - cocktails, quiet times, trivia!! The meals were great even if the "Windjammer" was ...

This is a great cruise if you like sea days. It was 24 nights and it crossed the date line and the equator. Suva to Hawaii 7 nights cruising and Hawaii to Seattle 6 nights cruising. Also going east the ship looses time so as to match the destination time. We loose 1 hour every few days and 1 Day when you cross the date line. Better going the other way. The crew were fantastic at all times ...

The embarkation got us off to a rough start. As Diamond Plus, we were seated in an "exclusive" area and started boarding right after the suites and pinnacles. We soon ground to a halt in the cattle chutes for Australian immigration, with a shore team person directing each next-in-line to the next available immigration officer. The next thing we knew, our line stopped completely while an express ...
