Disappointment after disappointment

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

My family and I are Emerald Crown & Anchor Loyalty Members who have been on multiple cruise vacations with Royal Caribbean totalling nearly 60 nights. My parents, whom we travel with, are Diamond Plus Members who have spent more than 175 nights at sea. However our last two cruises have left us completely disillusioned and unlikely to book again. In December 2022, we travelled on an Ovation of ...

Disappointing Experience on ovation of the seas

We booked a ship departing from Sydney to New Zealand on November 23, eagerly anticipating the visit to the renowned New Zealand tourist destination, the fjords. The ticket indicated arrivals on November 26 at Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound, November 27 at Dunedin, November 28 at Wellington, November 29 at Napier, November 30 at Picton, and return to Sydney on December 3. However, ...

Great itinerary from Sydney to Honolulu. Headliners entertainment was very good. As for spectrum cabaret was just a waste of time.. As for the dining room tables are pushed close together we spent most of our time eating in the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch. If you’re lucky enough to have eat at the coastal kitchen, the food was outstanding. Pool area was crowded. There is a rule posted ...

RC delivered a great Transpacific cruise

This was by far the largest ship we had ever been on, and the longest cruise, so we were a little apprehensive. By and large the ship handled the number of people well - it was only the first day when everyone was out and about exploring that we felt a little jostled by the crowds. The other time was getting off and on at port stops. There were lines to get off, even as an independent ...

A New Zealand Experience that was easily Forgotten

I want to start of by saying this was my second cruise ever and I would cruise with RC again, Unfortunately due to circumstances that were most of the time, out of peoples control, this felt like a forgetful experience I also would like to say we had the key as well, meaning we did have priority with a couple of things Check-in at the Overseas Sydney Terminal can only be described as ...

Dreadful except the weather.

We'd sailed on Explorer of the Seas once before and a weekend trip on the Ovation seemed like a good idea. It wasn't. In brief; dreadful service, low morale amongst crew, lack of cleaning, foodcourt quality food in the dining rooms and far worse in the buffet. The ship is big and newish but the finish is more like a well appointed caravan with lots of wood veneer and perspex than a cruise ...

Good cruise but not a fantastic cruise

I haven't been on a cruise since 2016 and I wanted my sister Sam to see New Zealand as she had never been there. This was my 2nd cruise to New Zealand but different company. We went up the day before the cruise so if a delay happened it wouldn't stress us out as much. Our boarding time was between 12 and 12:30pm and we arrived around 11:30am and handed out bags in and then joined the queue to ...

I booked to go to Eden in NSW but it was changed to Tasmania .. so. Much more to do onboard this ship. But long lines for dodgem cars and ifly etc. and the North Star. Apparently you book via the app. My app did not work well. Even their staff couldn’t fix it. So that was no good. We had a main dining room booking but got SOOOOO MUCH in the way of lectures from crews about filling out reviews and ...

Pros Large cabin Great entertainment Great staff but a good number of them spoke English but did not really understand English very well thus a good number of communication problems Cons Food nowhere near the quality or quantity of our previous cruise with RCL out of Sydney The first night my main course was very under cooked and the vegetables the two of them ie only two ...

First cruise in 4 years!

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

The cruise to Tasmania was a substitute for one we had needed to cancel earlier. It was our first for 4 years due to Covid, and it was interesting to experience cruising again, on a ship that we have always enjoyed before. We knew there would be changes, such as only servicing the cabin once a day and reduced benefits for diamond plus cruisers so we were not expecting it to be the same. However, ...
