I have been on 60++ cruises to include many on Holland America so frankly I have semi "been there, done that".
This 28 day cruise from Sydney to Seattle gets pretty high marks from me. But once again I will point out some areas of disappointment with the SLIM hope that someone at Holland might actually read these reviews and might actually realize that there are areas that could use some ...
A cruise to New Zealand was something my wife and I had wanted to do for a very long time, and having recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, what better time to do it. We chose HAL for their 'signature of excellence' logo, but should have perhaps taken a little more notice of the reviews. However, with our friends, we had a great cruise, where our expectations were met, and in some ...
Did not know what to expect as we are first time cruisers, but did a lot of research on the net to get an idea of what the ship was like. First impressions were fantastic, had a spa in the room, did not expect that. Staff were fantastic during the entire cruise, worth every dollar they get, could not get over their polite manners, even when some rude people think they don't have to say please or ...

My wife and I just got back from our 1st cruise, we enjoyed the experience very much, we had an interior room which was smaller than the photos but was very comfortable and not an issue the bed was a delight to sleep in . Our room stewards wer fantastic and offered advice as to the best places in port for free WiFi.
We ate most mornings and nights in the Vista dinning room as the food was just ...
Background information - We are 'young', active 59 and 64 year olds. This was our 4th cruise with Holland America. Our reasons for choosing the NZ Discovery cruise were (1) It fit our available time slot (we had originally chosen the South Pacific cruise immediately before this one but the scheduling of a family wedding necessitated a change) but, more importantly, (2) it gave us a chance to see ...
After having cruised with various lines (20 times) My wife and I decided to try the Holland America line (Oosterdam) cruising to the Pacific Islands on the 2nd of March 2014 for14 nights
Embarkation and disembarkation was excellent
The ship to us seemed too dark in colours Our cabin with balcony (the balcony could not be used due to cabins on either sides were smoking and of course the smell ...
After looking into various cruise lines, my husband and I agreed on Holland America as it seemed to offer accomodation more to our high standards and this being our very first cruise, seemed like a large enough boat that we did not feel too confined onboard or in our room. We booked a balcony room which was more than large enough to satisfy our needs. I must say we were both suitably impressed ...
My wife and I have cruised all over the world with a number of companies, so when we choose to book with HAL we where quiet excited as we where told by a number of our friends that the company had a very high standard within the cruise industry. (I must say our friends had not travelled with HAL for a number of years.)
We travelled from the Central Coast by train on the day of embarkation (which ...
Just arrived back today (19 January 2014) from a South Pacific Cruise departing Sydney. Firstly, the cabin upgrade from verandah to veranda suite was a lovely surprise and was really appreciated.
Then comes the rest, not necessarily so good.
Food: Main dining room choices, style and flavour were very good as was the Pinnacle Grill.Temperature checks need to be done in the Main dining room, as ...
