Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Much better value elsewhere, feeling ripped off

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Overpriced everything, in US$, especially drinks, auto 20% gratuity on everything to staff who don't deserve it. Outrageously expensive excursions. On board activities run by staff with English as a second language, they were incomprehensible, activities boring. Food was OK. Specialty restaurants food quality not worth it. Best food was in Azura. Will not be a repeat customer, extremely poor value ...

Far to little time ashore (to do non NCL excursions)

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Went on this cruise with two friends. Generally saying the ship spent far to much time navigating from one port to the other and spent ample time when it was at a location, making it not possible to make a longer trip ashore. Also, one could not call it a Pacific cruise, as it only went to New Caledonia in the pacific. If you really want to do something you had to take NCL's expensive shore ...

Food in buffet very ordinary club standard, sometimes less. Finding somewhere to sit was a feral activity like an overcrowded food court in a shopping centre at lunchtime a few days before Christmas. Food in restaurants was average. Bar service was poor, staff generally unfriendly and understaffed. Waited >15mins to be served and paying 20% service charge for no service. Waiters brought a ...

Procedures disorganized, room was noisy, food weak and slow service, weak shows

This was my second Norwegian cruise. Norwegian is pretty low cost and has some good itineraries that make it appealing especially in some of the areas where the ports seem to be more expensive (Baltic and Australia seem to cost more per day than Med or caribbean). This ship was less crowded (it was a pretty full ship but the spaces seemed better matched to its carrying capacity) than the last time ...

Back to Back New Zealand / Tasmania - Disappointment

The 1st cruise sailed from Sydney on Dec 1, 2018 to Dec 13, 2018. The 2nd cruise sailed from Sydney on Dec 13, 2018 to December 20, 2018. We chose these cruises because we liked the itineraries. We purchased a specialty dining package. We were infected by a norovirus along with other passengers. On the second day in the main dining room, I was given a drinking glass that was obviously ...

First part of the 40 nighter was poor!

This is the third review i've been asked to do for this cruise which we booked as a 40 nighter but the cruise was back to back to back so this review is for the first 18 days Sydney to Singapore which was poor. The cruises improved over time so the Singapore to Hong Long leg was better and the Hong Kong to Yokohama better still. This first part of the cruise was ruined by poor port choices, inept ...

We choose this cruise because of its destinations and we have cruised with Norwegian previously and had a very good experience on the spirit. Hence we thought we would experience the same level of service on the jewel however we were thoroughly disappointed this time around. The excursions were disappointing and on one we had no opportunity of purchasing food / drink after spending 5 hrs in ...

Excursions offered little content and at times unsafe. Excursions were hurried

Being from North American, we traveled about 10,000 miles to be on the NCL Jewel cruise. The cruise started in Sydney and when as far as Adelaide and returned to Sydney. The most important part of this cruise was to experience great shore excursions. If food, entertainment, sun or drink were of prime importance, we would have taken a Caribbean cruise which involves much less travel to get to ...

Hoping to tour around a bit of Australia and Tasmania but it turns out most of destinations this cruise covers are not the worth-visiting ones such as Eden, Burnie, and Kangaroo Island especially only given averagely 5 hours on the shore with tendering, etc and poorly arranged and super overpriced excursion package which we ended up seeing nothing. It could have skipped Burnie or Kangaroo and ...
