Plenty of food but all the same lack of flavour, very bland/basic. The ship seems to carry a huge amount of stored food so the fresh food / vegetables offered by the islands of the Pacific. Even water and soft drink was from Chinese suppliers that does not have the same safety standards as Australia. Embarkation and disembarkation when docked at a pier was quick / easy. When anchored and using tenders expect to wait at least one or two hours. Entertainment was nothing special with only limited performances making it even harder to see it. Those shows that we did manage to see seemed that the Cruise Director was too busy drinking and shouting his staff drinks to ensure the show ran smoothly. The DJ seemed to think the cruise was full of 15 year olds and lacked any ability to get atmosphere. That being said the room assigned for the disco was not appropriate, lacking any vibe. The room was clean and spacious with great service from the room Steward assigned. Read Less

The ship was excellent though too big. We had a balcony cabin on the 16th floor very good with unobstructed views. The staff couldn't be faulted.always smiling even though 50% of elderly passengers were rude and demanding without manners.!!! The children on board were better behaved with better manners than some adults. Not enough seating in the indoor entertainment area's of the ship.(piazza and the theatre's) had to get to an area for the show you wanted to see at least 45mins early. No area around the ship for a good walk the promanade deck only went up each side of the ship and very narrow. The market dining area we felt left left a lot to be desired. most food cooked in oils or butter, no plain or steamed food, no sandwich making facilities. Even though there were several area's of choice the food daily was same, same. The resturaunts were fantastic especially the pizza and sympony dining.the hamburger bar on the deck was good too. Too many people just walking in the dining area's without washing there hands. worry about nova virus with poor hand hygiene. The excursions were fantastic and the tour guides very good value for money and saw a lot of the islands. The ships staff getting you on and of the ship did a fantastic job with the number of people most of them very pushy and rude to the staff and other passengers. We went on this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding had a fantastic day but because of limited entertainment seating indoors when the weather was too cold to sit on deck we spent most afternoons in our cabin watching the TV . could have done that at home.will go on another princess cruise but will go on a smaller ship. Getting on and off the ship was expidited with reasonable speed at the begining and end of the voyage. couldn't fault that. Overall feeling was that the ship catered for the Chinese and American market rather than the Australian. Read Less

We went on the Majestic for a family getaway to Fiji...beautiful new ship with great crew and captain..all very helpful. Lovely cabin and steward, very spacious cabin with nice sofa and good bathroom. Priority Embarkation very quick, we were onboard by 11.30 am. Service was great throughout the ship, except the atrium area where it was too crowded ..all the time....and the poor staff where often overwhelmed. Normal Princess activities, trivia, bingo etc, all pretty standard and well run. Great movies under the stars too. Ship is spotless and new. Unfortunately, we all found the food to be no where near as good as our other 20 cruises, mostly Princess...buffett was very bland and many items could not be found...breakfast was sadly not good, huge jars of jam and vegemite with spoons in them for all to share...no sachets which would have been more hygienic ..we have never seen this before, very strange!..I unfortunately I got noro virus onboard, I had my own hand sanitiser, and washed hands outside buffet area too and used the sanitiser also in buffett, no idea how I got that, but there you go! Medical staff were wonderful, sent the meds to my cabin and I was quarantined, and recovered well. The dining rooms were okay , we had a problem with the anytime dining, they only offered us 5.15 or 8pm, so we had to eat in the pizza place and buffett quite a bit to get a good time to eat. Food was very average . The worst thing about the ship is the one and only area..the piazza...where everything happens all day and night, 3000 people with only one area to congregated and not enough seating....not good,,,one dance floor on a ship this size is ridiculous. The theatres were very crowded with people saving many seats for an hour or more before the shows, so we avoided those. The ports were good, loved Mystery island again and Noumea, and enjoyed Lautoka. She is a beautiful ship, very strange layout for such a large number of people.. too much room for the huge casino and many high end shops were a waste of valuable space which could have been given over to more bars or a nightclub.... shes just not for us...we will keep to the Diamond, Ruby Emerald etc...and Celebrity Solstice of course. Looking forward to the Ruby when she comes to stay in Oz. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was a new ship for Princess and it was its inaugural trip out of Sydney. Unfortunately it was a 5 star price for a 3star experience. Too many people, very slow dining service. No fault of table wairers who had too many tables and people to look after. This had a snowball effect because we were unable to get to Princess theatre for showtime in time to get a decent seat.. Again too many people.. If we wanted to see a show we had to go to Princess Live for simulcast which was not the same or forgo traditional dining and go to bistro. The tender operation at Mystery Island and Lifou was unacceptable ntwithstanding apologies for delays.. For Mystery Island we attended the meeting point at 10:45am and did not board until an hour later at 11:45am. Lifou was even worse we attended the meeting point at 10:00am and did not board until an hour and a half later at 11:30am.Again too many people for Princess to cope with.. Niceties we had previously had on other cruises with Princess and as recently as earlier this year to New Zealand were no longer forthcoming. No Happy Hour for drinks and no lucky ticket prizes, no welcome back letter in cabin on arrival or postage stamp for princess passport. Drinks were very expensive with one price($8.75) for all beer including light beer. Embarkation and disembarkation process was excellent. Come Back New sorry Come Back Disappointed is more to the point. Having completed 10 cruises with Princess Cruises now some doubt exists whether I would choose them again. Read Less

Drink packages and general pricing has increased. At Lotaka if you wanted to go into town you had to pay $20 to catch a bus, buy your own water for the trip as well. Premier shows have been reduced. Food was warm and twice (didn’t bother lineing up a 3rd time) the wait getting into the dining room was everlasting. Two tours were organised and the main objective was to take the bus load of passengers to one or more shops so everyone could purchase local garbage key rings or Chinese t-shirts. The cost was $120 per person. I ran into 5 guys from the ship who organised their own tour costing them $30 each and going to several other places than my bus went to and not including shopping centres. I think all the cruise ships need to find some more interesting locations to go too as the current ones are outdated and these days overpriced. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was one of only a few options going to Fiji, which was my son's choice for his grad trip. We haven't cruised Princess before and thought this one-year old ship would be a grand experience. While owning "The Love Boat" theme and it's integration throughout was a cool touch, overall the ship and experience was average compared to other carriers / ships. Cabin size was disappointing (we were in a PREMIUM! - I'm 6'2" and this was a ship built for the Asia market so I guess I should have expected it), dining was good (not great), entertainment was good but limited, service was actually not very good, and excursions varied dramatically. Generally the ship was built for cabins, not venues - and so we ran out of things to do quickly - especially on multi-days at sea. It was very much a senior cruise - as are most 10+ day cruises. Expected. The itinerary was great although I would question the Noumea port. Not much to see in the city so without an excursion it was boring at best. We *really* depend on the carrier to provide good solid port information - probably a lesson learned there. Sydney is an EXCELLENT port from which to embark/disembark - especially at sunset. Have done 5 Princess cruises, are platinum members and were interested to cruise on the Majestic even though we had done the cruise twice before. The dining team for table we had for table 299 had difficulty understanding our requirements. Food service was very slow for the 7.30pm and on occasions we missed the late show in the Princess theatre. Wine service was particularly slow as the wine bottles had to be accesses from lower decks on the ship. The food in the market place was well prepared and presented nicely. There was a number of tender ports and the tender service generally was ok on a couple of occasions there were significant delays in getting back to the ship from the shore where clearly another couple of tenders could have assisted. The entertainment program was excellent. The singers and dancers and sets were amazing really the best I have seen on a cruise ship and we have done over 15 cruises. A big shout out for Sallie the dancer who conducted and trained the Majestic choir for the first time. She did a great job. Read Less

First time on this ship. Have never suffered motion sickness and have experienced heavy seas on previous voyages on smaller ships. On this ship many of us felt the engine vibrations strongly, causing nausea and anxiety for much of the cruise. I am very puzzled as to why this unpleasant feeling occurred but it was a common complaint among passengers so I was not alone. The seas were very calm so did not expect to feel sick. Came back several kilos lighter, so something positive, anyway. Can anyone explain why these unpleasant vibrations were felt? Mainly in the buffet and dining room but also in the theatre. Now for the rest...the good and the annoying..... The crew were all fantastic! They go out of their way to make you feel special and I cannot fault anyone on this cruise. They work so hard. The Halloween pumpkin display was superb and the crew enjoyed dressing up for the event. The Filipino crew members in particular are so friendly and cheerful and always say hi to you. The cruise director, a nice Canadian fellow, was very good. Embarkation and disembarkation were very quick and smooth...thanks to all the cheerful staff at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. The food was quite good and if you did not like a meal it was quickly and efficiently replaced with another of your choice. How can you complain about it? The head waiter, Larry, went out of his way to find us seating where that unpleasant vibration was less obvious, too. It didn't help much, though, and I ate very little. The crew deserve a Certificate 3 in Aged care as they are fantastic with the hundreds of frail, palliative and very elderly people on board. They even had a hoist to gently transfer them into the Hollywood Pool. I though this was amazing. The most annoying things? Idiotic passengers cramming themselves into already packed lifts instead of waiting for a less crowded one. There was no air coming into the lifts and if they broke down we would all suffocate. And unpleasantly, too, as some passengers do not wash or brush teeth. The other gripe? No room to see a show. We always got there at least an hour before the show began but no luck! People must just claim a seat and sit there for hours! Inconceivable to us! Same in the piazza. There must be a lot of folk with pressure sores on their tails from sitting in the same spot all day. To sum up...I could not travel on this ship again because of the weird, sick - making vibrations. My husband said he hated the ship as it was too big and nearly everyone we spoke to said it would be their last time on this ship for the same reason...no promenade deck, weird buffet setup, not enough seating etc made this a first and last for us and many others, sadly. I did not chose this cruise but went with a relative due to the cruise leaving from Australia. I had never been to the South Pacific before, so it was a new area of travel. Embarkation and disembarkation were relatively easy and well organised. This ship is lovely and clean and the cabin stewards are extremely helpful and friendly. Our disabled cabin was large and easily accessible for disabled. The Dining is typical of Princess, 3 star and basic unless you want to pay for the exclusive restaurants, which I heard were not that good anyway. Entertainment and activities are minimal that didn't include activites with a sales pitch, art auction, jewellry events etc. The Spa looked inviting but really expensive. Trivia, comedians, movies and shows are the same as per usual. Food and food service was good until the last 3 days, when the service dropped and the food felt like leftovers and minimal choice. Shore excursions you either purchase through the ship, or just hop off the boat for a wider variety for private tours that support the locals. Read Less

With only a day and one-half to explore Sydney, we only captured a small glimpse of this charming city. Both embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly and very quickly for us. Our balcony cabin was roomy and nicely decorated. Cabin steward was excellent. Being as it was at the front part of the ship, anywhere between 4,000 and nearly 6,000 steps were done daily. With so many guests, I worried about elevator wait times, but there was rarely much wait times. We were disappointed with food preparation. Chicken was consistently tough, and other meats overcooked and dry. Wait times for mains were extraordinarily long most evenings in the dinning room, and I found the Buffet confusing. For instance, all the cold cereals were in an entirely different place to the hot. Most of the entertainment was top notch with the notable exception of two or three. Also disappointed with one guest services' staffer whosexEnglish skills were so bad, neither of us could understand each other. Why would the ship put someone like that in that position? Excursions desk seemed able only to sell the excursions, but in some cases knew nothing about them. When I asked who might know more about a particular excursion marked 'strenuous', I was told I could see a picture, as if that would tell me what I needed to know Ports were interesting. The one excursion we did purchase from the ship was a hop, on/hop off bus tour in Noumea. It was very well organized and the best deal on offer. We found all offers to be cost prohibitive. Read Less

We had some issues with Majestic Princess which we have never encountered before with the other Princess ships. - The internet was "so slow". Guests were complaining. We complain to the Internet Manager however, he didn't help us at all. - **** If you add up all the items on your stateroom bill you will notice it much less than shown on the bill. So be careful, add up your stateroom bill before leaving. We were overcharged by $34 which was taken off when we complained. **** - Hollywood Pool Area, the pool was warm however, the air was so cold. - Our balcony patio outdoor windows were not cleaned (build up of salt on them). The railing was also not cleaned. - Breakfast Buffet, the hot items (i.e., eggs, bacon, toast and egg muffin), were cold. The toast was the worst of them all (cold). Beside the above noted issues, we still enjoyed our trip. The staff made it up with there excellent service and friendliness. Read Less

The food was not fresh, the cabin is very smaller than i expected and internet speed was horrible and activities not enough. many times were toilets blocked and no toilets papers. People were so crowded can't find seat during breakfast and lunch time moreover the buffet foods were everyday same manu and some vegetable especially cabbage and pumpkin were almost gone. Moreover, the free coffee's quality was so bad indeed. However there crews were so friendly and politely anytime the shows which princess theater was pretty good. We chose the cruise to celebrate my wife's birthday. We decided to celebrate this at the HARMONY ASIAN RESTAURANT. What a disappointment! Food was terrible. For example, the Duck Salad only had two slivers of duck, less than a mouthful. Drink prices were way too high. For example a bottle of ATTEMS PINOT GRIGIO cost $59.00 and a glass $14.00. Local bottle shop in Australia, bottle costs less than $20.00. Entertainment was below the usual standard on other Princess Cruises we have done. Crooners Bar, a Princess favorite, was so impersonal. Glass walls separate the piano player and the guests. Even the crew hated serving there. Not a happy ship. Hope they keep her in China. The adults only area, Hollywood, was nice and at no cost was a pleasant surprise. Food was quite good in the Market place and in the Anytime Dining. Alfredos was a disappointment. All in alll not quite the Princess Standard that my wife and I love. Read Less

I chose this cruise for a South Pacific holiday break and to experience a new port for me SavuSavu, Australian Survivor filming Island. It was a 14 day experience. This was also recommended as a shining, new, modern Princess ship (built 2017), with the new Sea Walk. This was different yes but it does not make up for a decent promenade deck or front and rear views on a lower deck out of sun or wind. For Sailaway had to be with the smokers or peer through the life boats as in Port of Suva to listen to the Police Band. While it did have many positives being a local departure from Sydney for me, and the on board currency in Australian Dollars is a blessing when the US dollar keeps dropping, I also appreciate there are no gratuities to add to the fare ( unless you personally reward for good service), I was a little underwhelmed in this cruise. I do feel some Princess standards have dropped. I much enjoyed being able to use the Princess @ Sea App, on your personal phone or Ipad/tablet device, there were things however that left me disappointed. Positives: All Princess @ Sea capabilities. Able to book Shore Excursions, read daily Patter on your device, highlight your planner events you want to visit, access all ship information on your device. Keeps you updated with weather, time of arrival/departure etc. Port information, shore excursions. Order your breakfast . Can preview your photos, absolutely everything. The best advance and very welcome. The cruise is paid for in Australian dollars and no extra tipping is required except for excellent or exceptional service to reward your favourite crew. The Hollywood Pool and Spa , Exclusive for Adults only, with indoor pool and covered, skylight roof. Many lounges, exclusive private cabanas out of the weather, a TV . Excellent size and place for reading and solitude, bar access as well. Hoist for disabled. Lovely lounge rooms and decor. The Piazza Atrium area great, but could also be bigger for main events when passengers crowding to see, not enough seats. Standing only. Heaps of sun loungers, good concerts on the screen on deck, blankets for movies too and popcorn (small). Enjoyed craft activities...never take this away. It is a great alternative to Trivia but in saying that the ones on this cruise were fun and much effort and planning went into them. They were a cruise team highlight and worth attending. Tho many things would clash and not always able to get to them as much as I would have liked. Princess Live room for overflow concert performances was a positive idea and for comedy or lectures , however much better to have access to the actual Princess Theatre in the first place to feel the show Live and in person. Theatre seats do not have a table for drinks however and are quite cosy and a close, bucket, seating. Comfortable lounges and decor tasteful. Many lifts and wide areas to stand and wait. Fantastic gym facilities, and adult only areas. Lovely Fountain show but not advertised enough. I doubt everyone saw it. I only chanced upon it one night. Movie selection in your room was nice as well, latest ones and older movies. Complimentary in room service and light meals could be ordered. All crew worked hard and provided a friendly holiday, always trying to please. The International Cafe in Piazza area near Atrium served nice toasted sandwiches, meringue GF desserts, cakes and cookies, and a pie or quiche offering. This was complimentary to go with purchased coffee or for passengers just desiring a light snack. Negatives: Theatre not really big enough to accommodate everyone for each show. Cruise Planner had 2nd show at 9.45 pm, rather late or had early shows on a Port day 6pm and 715 or 730pm..... could not understand this. How to fit dinner around this when it can take too long to be served or you could end up eating quite late or miss dinner totally. This could occur even with anytime dining. Main Dining menu was not really great with variety choices. On offer were too many meals that were same or similar with just different vegetables or accompaniments. Meat , fish , chicken, and an overload of seafood. Desserts quite dull as well. Tea and coffee offered at completion not hot and meals also did not keep hot either even when close to kitchen. Buffet was serving similar to main dining but at least it was hotter and could just stick to fruit , or bread. Plenty of food provided but not choices I enjoyed however. Tendering could be a long process in Island ports. The entertainment on this cruise was a let down due to the fact I had seen many of the acts in the first and second week before. The Aussie comedian, McCool, AGoT was a breath of fresh air, as too much violin and classical type performers were offered. Much effort by those people but not to my liking and became too much the same style of entertainment. More variety choices for all age groups needed. Small internet room and library however there were many games to loan and a selection of many used books to read and peruse for interest. I enjoy seeing some of the dancers at the end of a show...did this occur??? Photography prices seem quite expensive. Many printing offers on metal boards, mugs, coasters etc are a lovely alternative souvenir to take home. No promenade deck to walk around, also no front access or rear access to feel the ocean around you and enjoy that at sea benefit, To Escape Completely and Come Back New. I hope Princess does not maintain this cut back feeling, and still embrace moving forward but not just with new ships but to still enhance passenger fun and friendly enjoyment all around including the main dining experience and buffet....not just to push extra cost dining.
