Food was great. Our steward could not do enough for us! All wait staff were very friendly and polite. Our disembarkation was smooth and they allowed me to go on via disabled access with my walker, but only after I asked. Sadly Princess aren’t well prepared for people with Disability. Nor do they value their smoking passengers. All areas were particularly cold and this could have been fixed with an outdoor mounted heater. 1 smoking area (back of ship) was nice but lacked bins and service (bar was on next floor down). The other 2 were extremely messy and out of the way. I Booked directly with Princess to get room easily accessible to smoking area but they couldn’t have placed me further away if they tried. I had to settle for obstructed view for the privilege. They should have been honest and just said they were booked out of rooms near those areas and I would have book a later sale date. My $199 soft drink package was a waste as I only drink coke and water out of the can/bottle. None of which is covered. I wasn’t able to purchase or view terms online prior to travelling. Sold to me as I walked in as a ‘today only’ deal with heaps of other passengers queueing behind me. Very Sly! I received a note on the door late the night before an excursion saying I was welcome to do the excursion but without my walker. After waving my travel companion off. I decided to do it anyway and booked an Uber. Bay o Islands fishing excursion was wonderful however I question If the tour should have proceeded given how wet and windy it was and how big the swell was. I fell and hurt my back :( I felt valued like a $ Read Less

Yes the ship is new and big but that does'nt make a ship good it had the most boring entertainment like two people playing violins no rock and roll it just was'nt a upbeat and a happy atmosphere compared to other ships ive been on. It also was crowded and very hard to get a seat most times. Toilet blocked about 3 times in our cabin and also some were out of order around the ship. Cabin was small but clean but configuration were single beds as there was three of us unlike other ships where there is one doulbe bed and a single. The cabin had a good selection of movies. As for food the world fresh market place on deck 16 was average and crowded and hard to get a seat, the lobster and grill bar sold hotdogs and hamburgers and chips which were good, the chopstix noodle bar was average, the symphony dining room food was mostly good and once we found two good waiters we stuck with them and booked the same table every night they really looked after us. The alfredo pizza shop was very good. The crew at the front desk need more training gave wrong information on several times. All in all i would not sail on the majestic again caters for 90 year olds i even spoke to a lady from new york in her late 70s and she was'nt happy with the entertainment and the ship in general aswell and said she has been on better princess ships. I chose princess as I had previously cruised with them in 2013 on the ruby princess by far the most amazing cruise I have ever done. I loved the itinerary and have always wanted to cruise with Princess up to the barrier reef. The majestic princess looked amazing new clean we were very excited to be on the ship. This was a huge disappointment the ship is catered for an Asian market so the food was of the lower standard The entertainment was boring and the staff unfriendly. Also we felt like we were on a moving nursing home everyone on the ship was so old it was truly a geriatric cruise even my 71-year-old mother felt out of place. The entertainment at night was so dull that they had a string duo playing at 8 pm 9 pm in the main atrium. There is also no place to dance no dedicated place to dance only in the atrium where all the ballroom dances with frustrated if you got in their way. We paid a premium price for this cruise and were highly disappointed the only thing that redeemed it was the amazing itinerary I’m not sure I want to cruise princess again which makes me feel sad because the best cruise I ever did was on the Princess ship. The food was terrible just terrible my carnival cruise was better food,Actually even the p&o and MSC was better. So disappointed such an Asian ship it does not belong in the Australian market its really catered to the asian market. It was a floating nursing home a geriatric flop with bad food and boring entertainment the only good entertainment was zinger band they were amazing. . Read Less

After cruising for many years with Princess my partner and I were disappointed with the lay out of this ship, their seemed to be not enough staff for the amount of passengers on board, most places we visited on board did not have enough seating, the ship was designed the Chinees market and it shows with the conversions of the public such as the vista lounge once part of the casino and another now bar also was the high rollers as you will see by the amount of surveillance cameras in the rooms, far to much Chinees writing hard to know were you are in the lift with the English/Chinese writing, we had the opportunity to have dinner in the French restaurant the food and service was good, the location of this restaurant was not good in a walk way I sat looking at a till, was told they were booked out so had to eat at 18:30! this was not the case only two couples in when we arrived, the walk way running along side was very busy and noisy, would not recommend this ship. The cruise was very disappointing. The entertainment was directed at the older passengers and nothing really available if under 60. No theme night, no white wine onboard as the ship is heading to Asia so they used what was onboard. Outbreak of respiratory condition onboard no extra precautions brought out until the last afternoon when it was too late. Toilet blocked in cabin x 5 times. Very big ship not easy to navigate around. Too many people and it had lost the special princess touch. The majority of the crew hardly smiled, they appeared to be tired of their jobs. I had not been on a cruise for six years and was so excited about the upcoming cruise unfortunately I don’t feel that I will ever do another one following this experience. A lot of passengers on this cruise were very dissapointed and it was a shame as everyone looks forward to the feeling that princess cruises promote “Coming back new” but unfortunately this cruise fell very short of that feeling. Overall very dissapointed Read Less

There is a bit to like on the Majestic. Being fairly new it is quite tidy and presents reasonably well on board. There are quite a few good spaces on board, a bit of flair here and there, but overall with 3,500 to 4,000 passengers on board its all a bit of a mess. And from the exterior “the ship” is as ugly as sin. An ugly floating appartment block. The root of the evil is the Princess business model. The market researchers have told them that the average passenger is not too bright ... so Princess presents an infantile and condescending package assuming the passengers to be morons so the staff dont need to be too sharp either ... they all seem to come from the cheaper parts of Asia and Eastern Europe. The activities program throughout is dumb, the lowlight of the day is a hard sell and then one has to suffer the bars and restaurants. Actually a couple of the cabaret shows were quite good! Pretty sad that wait staff are enthusiastic with their recommendations, but are unable to even pronounce the fish that they have been told to dispense (buramooondi). And someliers who operate on bin numbers which they recomend but have no idea what a nero d’avola is. But the poor wait staff are not the problem (they are also victims in the Princess business model) they are the result of the Princess training program which is rubbish. Thankfully, we had a suite on board and could escape most of the crass Princess infantile exploitation dogma. The suite was little better than most, but a poor excuse for the use of good space. Thankfully, we escaped without too much trauma and certainly we will not have occasion to go to sea with Princess ever again. Read Less

We booked 2 years ago and have been used to the Diamond and Golden Princess size ships. We didn't find it too big to walk around but we felt that the public rooms had been enlarged a little but too many people crowded into them causing congestion and a lot of noise. The practice of using the Piazza for activities such as Line Dancing classes instead of the Vista Lounge was a bad move. Most people go to the Piazza to sit down, have a coffee and meet people. When the so-called music started and a female with high pitched voice started yelling instructions into the microphone you couldn't hear yourself think. The music was not good apart from the piano player Marius because once again it was too high pitched and loud. The impressionist was excellent. Where, oh where, were the string quartets and trios??? Because it affected all the music mayabe the amplification was at fault. I daren't wear my hearing aids in the Piazza for fear of ear damage so consequently had trouble hearing people. On sea days you could hardly move because there were too many people around. The activities in the public area were not well planned when everybody was coming out of the lounges at the same time and trying to get through people who were waiting. The sudoku puzzle wasn't changed in the IT room. The Passenger Service staff on the whole didn't seem to know what they were doing and were quite unhelpful when a seat collapsed under me in the Princess Theatre. They wanted me to go to the doctor in 2 hours time when they opened and pay for it myself. We had to fill in 4 reports that essentially said the same thing and no apologies. Cabin staff were mediocre but Concerto dining staff were excellent even if the food was a bit tasteless. Read Less

Take a lot of money. Yes, its expensive in Australia, but the expenses on the ship keep on mounting. A glass of wine $14.00.Cosmopolitan $16.00. They have taken away the 2 for 1 cocktail hour. The cost of the shore excursions is just plain ridiculous. Two ports we were in, we had to pay for a shuttle to town. We used to get a coupon book that at least had a few coupons we could use, gone. The art gallery ( look hard or you will miss it ) is tucked into a tiny corner by a huge photo gallery. The menu in the diningroom is so geared to people other than Canadians and Americans, if you like fish only , you should. be happy. Not once was there pork or turkey, just fish, fish and more fish, missing also is the traditional new York cheesecake and crème brulee. We stood on top deck for 2 hours and did not have one bar staff around. There is a 1.1% surcharge added to your bill that princess collects. Read Less

Timing as the Cruise was over the new year and also location the ship was traveling were the important issues. Traveled on the other cruise ships during the new year eve time frame and it was very nice. This trip seemed to be smaller in activity scale when compared to other cruise trips Limited activities - Started a golf activity that was to continue - dropped without notification, no word, just dropped it. Food left a lot to be desired - Asian food represented very well however if you do not like this type of food the balance was less than acceptable - ended up eating from the kids menu for many of the meals. Became sick during the cruise and went to see the doctor - very little help - seemed as many people on the cruise were also sick with coughing and sore throats. Small room, balcony had the life boats right below the room. Read Less

I have never cruised before so I really did not know what to expect. But I must say I was bitterly disappointed. The entertainment I feel was really for people in walkers. It was the battle of the walking frames and go go mobiles. Staff were fantastic, cabin was lovely. I probably would not recommend this cruise to anyone under the age of 80. The maintenance of this ship was a joke. Every day on the deck they were painting with toxic varnish which gave me a chest infection as I am sensitive to fumes. They also closed the pool on the first warm day to re paint it. I went up to the deck for a swim to find there was no pool available that day. The next day it was open so I jumped in and got toxic pool paint all over my feet and hands. This paint was then all over the soles of my new shoes. I would not recommend this cruise to young people or to people with allergies. I had to wait for someone to toast my gluten free bread every morning which took at least a half hour and would also have to wait for that staff member to come back to get my toast out of the toaster and hand to me as we could not reach the toaster. One morning I had to go find someone to pass me my toast that had gone cold. I was fed a desert that was made on lactose free milk when I had told them I am strictly no dairy so was sick that night. Wow I could go on forever on how horrible this cruise was. Read Less

We are not new to cruising. We were travelling with two other couples from previous cruises. Stunningly large ship doesn’t always mean a great ship. Cruise was great ship less than good. We experienced a lot of negatives such as. Not enough pools, unsupervised Hollywood Observatory adults only pool and someone took their grandchild in who defacated in the pool meaning the closure of pool for 2 days. Grill restaurant Tbone was well done on the edge and raw in the middle to the point you would get sick if you ate the bloody meat. One staff member was rude both during photos at dinner and at the shop. Another staff member sold me a $600 camera with an American warranty. Thankfully I returned it the next day and got the Australian version. What does it say when a staff member ask you where did you get the blankets for movies under the stars. We bought the soda package online and waited four days before receiving our soda drink bottles and then only because we asked every day. I also bought a coffee as I like my lattes. Alas never got a decent coffee the whole two weeks. Very bitter and I would like to ask the question did they have a barista or just use the staff. Never once did we get into Princess theatre. It’s too small and people were waiting for 1.5 hours beforehand to get in to the show. Big ship and very elegant but nothing personable about it. With the hot weather coming and the lack of good size pools makes for not good swimming. Will continue to cruise with Princess but not Majestic. Oh and we even found a piece of plastic in one of the desserts but they seemed more interested in telling us the money they paid the chocolatier for his recipe. Also other ships have milkshakes or thick shakes in the ice cream shop but majestic didn’t. Crazy when you have kids onboard. Everyone you spoke to said they were not happy. Lots of trips. Nearly every second day you saw someone with a new break mainly arms. Again will cruise princess but not majestic we stopped anytime dining as the menu was nothing to write home about. It’s not good when the burgers hot dogs and even the pizzas were more enticing. Read Less

Having sailed with Princess on other occasions, we found them to be all that we expected. As soon as we heard the brand new Majestic Princess was coming to Australia, we immediately booked to go on the first cruise out of Sydney. In a nutshell the ship is big, new and shiny. The crew are fantastic, food in the Buffet ( they call it the Market Place) was okay, but we have had better on other Princess Cruises. The food in the Dining Room was very good as were the waiting staff.. Here's the crunch, The ship is big damn big, we found the balcony cabins to be smaller that on other Princess Ships. They have squeezed in more cabins (more passengers) but have failed to provide sufficient lifts to move the high number of passengers up and down the additional decks. This ship had the feel of a live sheep export ship. Crowds at the lifts were a joke. It was said that the Majestic Princess was built for the "Chinese Market". As far as we are concerned they should have kept this ship in China. In the long term this ship will not be well received in the Australian market. Read Less
