Our annual two week cruise and again just perfect. The cabin clean and plenty of room. Staff attentive and helpful. Food always hot and plenty of variety. Balcony dinner just an experience, if you have a balcony, you should do. Beautiful food and your own personal waiters, set up on your balcony just beautifully. You start with a cocktail of your choice and appetisers, bread, followed by a further four courses and champagne cost $125...so worth it. Production shows excellent, headliners mostly a hit, a couple of misses. Overall we had a wonderful time. The water shuttles if you’re in a hurry to get off can be a bit of a wait. No issue to us as we just strolled off when ready. The ports are good and you can do your own thing or pick up tours just off the ship on dock. An older group of passengers but the kids that were onboard seemed to have a great time. Read Less

Chose this cruise because of the many ports to visit. The magnificent 'Majestic Princess' as Captain Sagani calls her and he is right. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful paintings, sculptures and decor. Our deluxe balcony stateroom was great, we enjoyed a drink on the balcony on most evenings watching the sunset before heading to one of the many bars for a drink before dinner. Anytime dining worked well for us, we had no problems getting a table in the dining room, the pizzeria or the marketplace buffet area. All meals were good and enjoyed having an option of where to eat each night. There was plenty of room for the 3500 passengers in bars and on deck, really enjoyed the Hollywood pool area. Tender service to shore was ok but a little slow at times but loved all the ports we visited, we enjoyed the two excursions we booked which were well organised. Some bar and wait staff were not as nice and friendly as others but the activities staff were great and very entertaining. As the passengers were much older than expected we learnt to be patient with all the walking frames, walking sticks and wheelchairs, some of the oldies were quite rude unfortunately. Overall we had a fabulous time and will look forward to going on this ship again. Read Less

I love princess as a cruise line. I have completed over 30 cruises in my lifetime so far. I have tried multiple cruise ship companies and Princess is on of my favourites. They seem to get the balance of Classy, fun and relaxing correct every time. This one was a short 5days to Tasmania. This is definitely not long enough. It would be great to see a longer cruise itinerary for this location with more to see. You just start to relax and then it is time to get off. It’s really on 4 days as the 1st day is boarding the ship. We booked the enclave this time and it was incredible. As Tasmania is freezing. It was lovely to have a warm pool, steam room and sauna to relax in each day. It is also really quite private due to the extra expense. It is really worth it. Our cabin was prime position. We got a balcony cabin right near the back lifts. There was no outside noise from the lifts at all and it was only a few floors away from the market place above us and the traditional dining restaurant below us. Renato our cabin steward was fantastic. This ship is one of the newer in the fleet so is beautiful and in great condition. There are more passengers on this ship than some of the smaller ones so this can slow down service. However, I was on this ship a year ago and you can see massive improvements since the last time. This shows that princess really do value our feedback and take it onboard. Great to see :) If you get the chance to see Chris Watkins. Do it. He is incredible :) I have seen him twice now onboard this beautiful ship and he is incredible. Read Less

Just got back from a three night cruise with a group of friends to celebrate one of our friends significant birthdays. Had never been on a cruise ship before and thought the overall experience was fantastic. The ship is still very new, having been built in 2017. Our cabin was excellent and we spent so much time sitting on the balcony watching the sea pass by. The modern cruise ships are so stable, with very little impact from the waves of the ocean. The service and assistance from the staff was fantastic. We were made to feel so welcome when we got on board and this level of hospitality did not cease for the duration of our trip. Nothing ever seemed to be a bother for any of the staff. Overall, I would rate the ship, the staff, the service and facilities as excellent and would recommend this cruise ship highly. Read Less

I was never keen on cruising but reluctantly I relented to my wife’s pleading so we chose the Majestic Princess as our first cruise and we chose a sampler cruise out of Sydney and boy am I glad we did. We left the harbour at around 6.30pm and it look spectacular. Everyone was on deck to watch Sydney Harbour in all its glory. This ship provided everything to keep us interested from movies to shows to auctions to karaoke or just do nothing. The choice was ours and let me say the food choices were amazing with many different types of dining from ala carte to casual dining and everything in between. Outdoor movies and bars around swimming pools, it even had an adults only area so that parents can get away from the kids for a short time if they want. Now we are looking forward to our next cruise sometime next year. Maybe we will see you there. Read Less

From the warm welcome of the immediate team on emarkation to the seemless tender trips to airlie beach, port douglas, yorky's knob and others we had an unreal experience and all of our expectations were met and exceeded. There were numerous daily activities to suit just about everyone. The Princess Majestic team went out of their way to ensure every detail was covered from the food which was exceptional with great variety to the smiles from all of the team members. The rooms are extremely quiet and well equipped with the room attendant making sure towels were changed regularly as well as the bed. There was an older customer base on this cruise but you can never know that when booking. The food was great in both the marketplace and the restaurants with a great variety to suit just about everyone. We had a coffee and soda package that suited us and i think was value for money. The upper deck areas accomodated plenty of people for sunbaking etc. There were many areas you could just chill for a drink or sit with friends or hang at a bar and watch the bar tenders do tricks. We were on deck 15 in a deluxe balcony and found it to be perfect for us, easy access to food. The on board app assisted with the daily timetable so you could easily check what was on for the day from art and jewellery auctions to bingo. Shore excursions could be prebooked for day trips or make your own way. We have booked another cruise on a different ship but look forward to going on the Majestic again next year in 2020. The Majestic handled well in rough seas on the first night and then it was smooth sailing, i recommend the 10 day from Sydney to Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas, yorky's knob and Willis island. MAJESTIC PRINCESS MARCH 26-APRIL 14, 2019 SYDNEY TO HONGKONG I am an Elite cruiser, and this is my 13th voyage on Princess, 1st time on Majestic Princess. Majestic Princess was launched in 2017, the largest ship in the Princess feet. Overall in solid business class condition, the food and entertainment consistent and of a very good standard. Firm and favorable recommendation to anyone wanting a good quality, big ship cruise experience. My critique, is based on my many cruises and any criticism is aimed only at seeking improvement Embarkation Ship boarded at Sydney. Large queue on arrival, but with my wife’s left knee requiring management, she was wheel chaired aboard, prompt, quick and efficient service. The ship in general The Majestic Princess is a large ship, 143,000 tons. Some people aboard found the size of the ship a little overwhelming and they thought a smaller ship would be more to their liking. We can understand that but we like the larger ships with more people and facilities and choices on board. Although there were approximately 3500 passengers on board, it did not feel crowded. So many choices, which are the great delight of cruising, one does as little or as much to do as you like. Some passengers take that for granted, mumbles here and there, but we value the great choices available! I often strolled through the ship at 6.30am in the morning, hardly a person to be seen! Used the Gym fitness machines each day, excellent facility, but the background music is too loud. There is no need for such sound, if you want to listen to music or television etc., a range of personal devices are available. Silence is Golden, great views from the Gym, why a heavy soundtrack. Pools and spa facilities as you expect, available, and nice, off peak the time to go, pools can be cluttered during the day. The Adults only Hollywood Conservatory is an excellent new addition, with great views and seating options, and being a covered pool, no weather problems. Princess cruises add a USD 12.50 a day per person amount to your bill and that covers your tipping for the total cruise. This is done so that people employed on the ship who are not in direct contact with the ship can also receive something. If you don’t like this idea you can arrange with the Pursers office to have the amount reduced if you wish, and envelopes for tips are available. Library facilities were disappointing, combined with the Computer room, and we personally missed the huge observation lounge facility on earlier class ships(Sky walker), and the limited walk around the ship facility for the walkers, it’s there but this time 6.5 times area around equals 1 mile and the area is contained. The other bars and public seating areas of the Majestic Princess were excellent, roomy and stylish. Spot entertainment e.g. pianist, vocalist, violin trio etc. were visible and pleasant. Listening to these spot artists, can make a cruise very pleasant. The shopping available on the ship is the biggest at sea 1000 sq. feet, mostly high end. Watch and clothing sales abounded, and the 3 hour clearance scrambles, always available. Another variety style shop would be useful, not really convinced, about diamond and jeweler shops, obviously enough people are buying product to keep open. Princess has done away with the on ship news sheets for USA, Britain, and Aussie etc. This is short sighted, many commenting on the lack of daily international news. Yes it might be available on the web, but the web at sea is costly, and soaks up time, hopefully these sorts of publications will return, when the world realizes technology is just another tool, and many people like something to hold and reflect on in their own time. Floor shows in the evening, and specifically the Princess Theatre Dance Company and singers were excellent. They did 4 presentations, equal to Broadway show standard, and the standard of these productions continue to improve and creativity very much in vogue. Excellent recording stars on each night, standard excellent. Overall the formal and stage entertainment was of good quality, all part of your travel package Solid range of late release movies shown on upper deck, available in room, or at advertised locations. Good work here Princess, my wife watched more than a few while reclining in the cabin. The more movies the better, it’s an ageless form of entertainment, and Princess Cruise deserves a bow for their up to date movie selection A number of presentations or lectures on this cruise, none of which jumped out as great Excellent range of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, excellent range of choices every day, including the usual bingo, table tennis, bridge games. Art pictures shows were very visual. Soft freeze cone ice-cream available at no cost throughout the day, a nice treat, but real ice-cream limited on the voyage The weather conditions throughout were very good and no rough days at all, so the luck ran our way. However motion sickness can be an issue, and any cruise if you are susceptible, prepare in advance. Dining Traditional 1st or second sitting evening dining room sitting versus anytime dining are great options. We prefer anytime dining, and there were 2 choices plus the 24 hour buffet, plus the 24 hour International Café, and the open deck grill and Pizza bar options, also the Asian Noodle bar, produced good soups. We mixed breakfast venues. Dining formal on some days, buffet the next, sometimes dined for lunch in the traditional dining room (not available in the evening for anytime diners) and then at night, in one of the 2 anytime restaurants. Menu in each is the same as traditional dining restaurant, but we liked the change of waiters, décor and loved being able to eat anytime in the evening between 5.30pm and 10pm. If you had not booked, there was sometimes a small wait, but no great problem. A number of specialist restaurants are available. The Crown Grill (steak) restaurant, a French Restaurant Le Mer and the Cantonese Harmony restaurant all with A$ surcharge of $29-35 per person. The real issue is a specialist restaurant at $60 per couple good vale. In my view once only, plenty of choice for free elsewhere. The 24 Hour International Café was a real bonus. Great informal, pick your choice, from a salad to a cake, great alternative to the full meal service which abounds on the ship. The buffet at Market Place was good value, everything seemed fresh, lots of choice and we thought the food tasted fine. Open most hours was great. Service was good, and their breakfast buffet top class. You read some sharp comments about the cruise buffets; I think they offer excellent value, wide choice and sound presentation. You must be a very fussy eater, if you complain about sub-standard Princess cruise buffets. A nice touch each afternoon was the English afternoon tea served by waiters in white gloves 3.30-4.30pm, in one of the main dining rooms. Room Service Available 24 hours at no charge, limited menu but pleasant, nice to be relaxing in your room, and some refreshment arriving. Our cabin We had an interior Cabin, on the 12th floor. Pleasant. We made the decision not to have a balcony cabin, on cost differential and because many sea days, it was the right decision for us. The design of the cabin made good use of large mirrors to enhance the feeling of light and maximize space. The open space wardrobes without doors provided plenty of hanging and excellent storage space for our requirements. .Our main cases fitted side by side quite comfortably. Bedside lights have dimmer switches. Soaps and towels were changed twice a day. Bathroom shower was pressure excellent. Air conditioning was excellent. There is a safe in every room and our cabin had a fridge. Outside your door on the side is a paper holder with your cabin number on it so that the any newsletters or other information can be left for you. The Television was a good size. No noise transference issues on this trip, you need luck with who are your neighbors’, this time quiet. If you wish to drink bottled wines in your cabin Princess seem to have no problems with you purchasing wines or champagne and bringing them on board at embarkation (Small print says 2 bottles). You can take these wines into the dining room but you will be charged an USD15.00 corkage fee if you take them into the dining rooms PORTS OF CALL Big ships often mean you are located long distances from City. Ships are coy re detail on Port facilities, and access to City location. They want you to utilize on each occasion the formal ship tours, which are well organized, but costly. Independent travelers are tolerated, but they limit information as a means of keeping the formal tour numbers up. The internet is surprisingly limited re detailed information on Ports of Call (often very dated too), and guide books like Lonely Plant, virtually ignore it.  Brisbane is a poor port, industrial, and 25 K from City. Bus shuttle $25 each way. New Terminal required.  Darwin is the opposite, lovely port, great walkways, easy access to City.  Singapore, great Port, and many excursions.  Phu My, Vietnam: Gateway to Ho Chi Min City (Saigon) one and a half hours each way. Ships excursions the way to go here A free shuttle with a 40 minute ride to local Ba Ria township was the alternative, a nice respite from the sea days  Kaohsiung Taiwan: 2nd largest city, 3 million people. Excursions or free shuttle to a Large City Store for shopping was available  Hong Kong. Disembark here. We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Vic, North Point, lovely hotel, and well up to our expectations. Disembarkation Getting off the ship at Hong Kong was easier than expected. We made the decision to be in first group off, a choice we have due to our past record with Princess and the long wait for Taxi-Princess warned up to 4 hours wait - did not eventuate. Hong Kong has a poor reputation for taxi service from the Port, surprising for one of the great Tourist destinations; they need to address such issues Read Less

Excellent entertainment from the comedy show to soul music show. The big screen for movies etc is hugh and provides a great backdrop against the sky . The rooms are very comfortable and spacious for a interior room. The marketplace food area is good but lacks tea and cofffee making stations they need more of these as on the other princess ships . There is plenty of seating in and out of the ship but missed the deck 7 promodene deck for walking but being only a 2 day cruise would need to explore more options on a longer cruise. Only problems were lack of seating in Vista lounge for triva and the lack of dress code standards in mdr some people allowed in with shorts and t shirts not a good look. Read Less

While we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Regal in the Baltic, and the Royal in the Mediterranean, the addition of an enclosed conservatory on the Majestic, with full length floor to ceiling windows, allowed us to enjoy this trip even more. New Zealand, especially in Milford Sound can be very cold, even in March, and being able to enjoy the views from the warm conservatory, was a highlight. It is an adults only area, and is a quiet space to read, or play board games, as well as relax on comfy sofas or swim in the undercover pool. We were blessed with good weather, so were able to enter all the ports and enjoy all the excursions of some unique destinations. We enjoyed traditional dining, as well as the noodle bar (yummy broth soups), international cafe, buffets, Crown Grill, Le Mer (french). All meals were of a high standard. The service was impeccable, and the staff could not do enough to ensure we were well looked after. Even finding us at the back of the Lido deck, watching a movie, and going off to find some blankets for us, in case it became cool during the evening. We thought out obstructed view deluxe balcony stateroom might not compare to our previous mini suites, but it was very roomy, with a sofa and a balcony and the obstruction was only partial. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient, which makes all the difference when living in a small space for 2 weeks, to come back to a tidy and clean space. Sydney is a busy place to embark, due to limited space, but it didn't take very long to go through passport/security. Our accommodation, booked through Princess, was very nice, and in a great location for sightseeing, in the Rocks/Circular Quay. It was super nice having the Princess Team pick us up from the airport. Highly recommended. The Majestic is a very large ship, so my only recommendation to those intending to travel on it, is to do your research and read the daily newsletter, to keep on top of the many options available for being entertained. It would be easy to miss some outstanding talent/activities. The Princess Theater Shows were of a very high standard, and it was worth getting to the theater a little early to ensure a seat. The dance party nights (Beatles and Abba) were fabulous fun. Even those using walkers made sure they got up to dance and wiggle the night away. There are many choices for excursions. We loved the sheep farm visit/Christchurch, Speights Brewery in Dunedin, Napiers fertile fruit/wine growing tours, Wellington wharf and Cable car ride/museum, Auckland for shopping, Mt Manganui itself is beautiful, if you don't want to go to Rotorua, Bay of Islands /Waitangi Treaty grounds visit was exceptional, as we had a Maori guide. The Museum there is also a knockout if you like history, Read Less

Choose the cruise for ease of journey and a number of places in New Zealand we had missed previously. We were impressed with Dunedin and fascinated with the history and beauty of Napier. Having been to Auckland before we decided to take the ferry over to Davenport, an easy choice as the ferry is right on the wharf where Majestic Princess docked. It was a lovely 15 minute ride which showcased the harbour and the little town itself was pretty and very visitor friendly; we had lunch there and browsed interesting shops before returning to Auckland. The itinerary Proved to be just the ticket! Every staff member we encountered on the ship were without fail, friendly, efficient and helpful, from wheelchair assistance at embarkation and disembarkation, to dining and stateroom staff. Caught up with all the latest movies under the stars and in cabin and really enjoyed The Crown grill, La Mer and Alfredos. Symphony dining staff were also superb. Joined the pop choir and made some new friends ….All in all loved it and are excited to return next year. Read Less

We wanted to go down under to Australia and New Zealand. This cruise was reasonably priced and had a lot of New Zealand ports. The majestic princess exceeded our expectations. The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the entertainment was brilliant. We really loved the day activities such as trivia and name that tune. We thought we had sufficient time at each port. The on boarding and disembarking process was well planned and had no waiting around. The only only problem we had was the room warmed up too much during the night. The waiters in our set time seating for dinner were so good and friendly that we tipped them extra. The ship is really well decorated and clean. We only had to search hard for a table once in the buffet area for breakfast. We enjoyed all the ports except Auckland, because it’s a big city and we did no excursions there. The port we stopped at which was close to Christchurch was our least favorite excursion, but we are still glad to have seen it. We took the 1.5 hour trip from the dock to Christchurch with uninspiring scenery . Then Christchurch is still in repair from the earthquake 8 years ago. Lots of scaffolding, construction sites and closed buildings. We visited 3 days after the shooting and saw an outstanding outpouring of love and sympathy with digs and flowers. The free museum is well done and we spent most of our day there. We ate at a great Indian restaurant. We booked small excursions on our own at most ports and enjoyed all of them. Hobbiton was a great tour which we recommend as was the glowworm cave at the Bay of Islands small group (4 of us) tour. The value we received was well worth the cruise price. It was to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and was a perfect choice. We were married in NZ so it felt right cruising back on the fabulous Majestic Princess. We weren’t disappointed, the food, service and entertainment was first class, just loved it. At night we dined in the Allegro dining room and it was the highlight of our day, the food and waiter service. We then went to the show of the night, not to be missed, great entertainment. The Hollywood Pool Club was such a relaxing area during the day, a heated indoor pool and spa, pleasant ambience to read etc. On our anniversary, balloons and a notice was put on our cabin door. We booked in to Harmony, a special restaurant that night and enjoyed it so much, wow. The waiters presented us with a little chocolate cake with a candle and sang Happy Anniversary. Everyone was so helpful on the ship, nothing was a problem, everything was so clean and we felt safe. For us, the cruise ports were all interesting, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed our shore excursions. Probably the highlights, and there were many, were the Sounds, Taieri Railway, Akaroa, Te Papa, Waiheke Island and the Bay of Islands, the Hole in the Rock excursion. The Art Deco in Napier we loved and all the volunteers who were there to meet the ship in every port made it special. I hadn’t been to Mt Maunganui and Tauranga, loved it. Very impressed with the embarkation and disembarkation, went like clockwork, congratulations to all involved. A really memorable cruise, we will be back! Read Less

The Majestic Princess is an amazing ship. The staff and crew were fantastic and provided an outstanding level of service. One of the highlights has to be sailing through the Fiordlands. Absolutely stunning and we enjoyed this mostly from our balcony. There is so much to do on the ship if you choose to or you can simply relax. I would highly recommend the Chef's Table. This is worth every extra penny and as long as you enjoy fabulous food and service, then you will love it. It is also a great chance to dress up and for the men to wear sports jackets (not necessary but looks good). The food in the dining areas is fantastic and the service across the ship amazing. The bar and dining staff really know how to look after you. The entertainment on the ship is of an extremely high standard. Lots of places to sit and have a drink with friends before deciding where you will eat your dinner. You will love it. We will certainly be cruising with Princess again. Read Less

From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. Embarkation and disembarkation were so organzied with few delays if any. The food was great and always prepared they way it was requested. The Captain gave us an update every day which was appreciated. We were in heavy rough seas but the ship was so stable that it wasn't a problem. The food and bar services were of a high standard with so many options to choose from including many healthy options along with the more decadent choices! The ship is beautiful and although large there is ample room to enjoy quiet spaces and you never feel crowded. We particularly enjoyed the enclosed pool and surrounding areas. Also not enough seating in the Piazza when entertainment was on We did not dine at the Market on deck 16 as we found it hard going in different places. the best layout was as in the Sun and Sea Entertainment was excellent even though you had to go at least 20 minutes earlier to get a seat Another thing we missed was the Wheelhouse which was a good place to go and listen to music and dancing Will we travel on it again PROBABLY Enbarkation was smooth it took 15 minutes to get onboard the same when disenbarking The waiters we had in the dining room were excellent and would get anything we asked for Read Less

In Sydney, for the size of the ship and the amount of passengers embarking, I was very impress with how quickly and smoothly the customs / security area was. Being the newest ship in the Princess fleet, I was truly amazed with the overall impression of the ship. I originally booked an inside cabin on level 16, which I was happy with. Half way through the cruise, I was upgraded to an outside balcony cabin on level 8, I was very impressed by this. The dining area were always very clean and the food was good with always a good selection. The entertainment / on-board activities and the staff who hosted the events were all good and professional. The service from all staff was friendly, happy and professional at all times. The ports and excursions were very good and well organised. I would definitely like to sail on this ship again in the future. Read Less

After cruising with Princess only once in America I wanted to try one from my home port of Sydney and when Majestic was open for booking I jumped on and booked over 2 years before our cruise date. I talked my parents into coming along and trying out Princess and I think it is now their cruise line of choice. I could not fault the ship at all, staff were all fantastic and with a large passenger number it was very organised and run perfectly. I still found they cater a bit too much for the older crowd so the entertainment got pretty boring fast and there was just too much violin. We were lucky to have violinist Chris Watkins onboard and he was phenomenal, the only violin I enjoyed. The buffet is pretty limited compared to other lines (Celebrity and NCL) but done well. Alfredos Pizzeria is amazing but I really missed the pizza bar on pool deck,Chopstix noodle bar was awesome and Crown Steakhouse was fantastic but I found the menu a bit limited for starters. We had an aft balcony on deck 9 and I think we had the best deck but soot was a big problem, although or cabin steward cleaned daily it was back pretty quickly but I wouldnt hesitate to book the same again, loved it. We enjoy cruising on different ships and were keen to sail on Majestic Princess. However before we sailed I had read some rather poor reviews about the ship and the differences in regard to other ships in the Princess fleet. Well thank goodness I did not let these reviews influence my opinion of the ship. There was a wide demographic of ages and nationalities on board (1800 Aussies, 1000 USA and 700 others), many different bars, indoor and outdoor activities. This cruise was absolutely fantastic and I can not recommend this ship enough. The facilities are fabulous and there is something to suite everyone's taste in entertainment and food. The staff go out of their way to please and are very friendly and engaging with the passengers. The cruise director Andrew was a gem and his enthusiasm is infectious. I believe that you make of a holiday what you want and as everything in life if you want to find fault you will. I urge anyone considering sailing on the Majestic Princess - Do IT. Read Less

Elegant Ship.Loved, that our Captain played the "Love Boat" theme when we departed from Sydney. Loved the Sea Walk. Love that more seating areas have been added to the Atrium. Those that travel on a Princess Ship know that a lot of activities take place in the Atrium. Apart from the 1st day (embarkation) it was hard to believe there were more than 3,700 passengers on board. She is a big elegant ship. After a while you don't think anything off the size. She is another beautiful Princess Cruise Ship. Staff are great and friendly. Cabin lovely, bed comfortable. We had a balcony as I enjoy sea days (if fine) relaxing on our balcony. Entertainment right up there with the best. Food will, what can I say..always delicious. So many choices. Loved the Hollywood pool and area. Love the pool in the Lotus area. Well worth the money. We had perfect weather from the time we left Sydney. Such smooth waters 99.9% of the time. We will look forward to our next cruise on the Elegant Majestic. :-) My ratings for excellent is because we cant fault our time on our cruise... Read Less
