we chose this ship because it was new but it is badly designed you have to go to different floors to get from one end to the other end of the ship food was average would not sail again on this one found the sun and diamond princess ships are better. Not enough cover around the pool area dance floor between the pools was a wasted space not enough seating for 3500 people no entertainment on pool decks just movies no good for families used passengers as entertainment with line dancing every day played lawn bowls in front of lifts .this ship is ok if you are over 70 and you like gambling or wake up in the morning have breaky then lay at the pool and sleep until lunch have lunch then go back to the pool and sleep until dinner when you have finished dinner they are ready for bed same again next day. Choose the cruise for ease of journey and a number of places in New Zealand we had missed previously. We were impressed with Dunedin and fascinated with the history and beauty of Napier. Having been to Auckland before we decided to take the ferry over to Davenport, an easy choice as the ferry is right on the wharf where Majestic Princess docked. It was a lovely 15 minute ride which showcased the harbour and the little town itself was pretty and very visitor friendly; we had lunch there and browsed interesting shops before returning to Auckland. The itinerary Proved to be just the ticket! Every staff member we encountered on the ship were without fail, friendly, efficient and helpful, from wheelchair assistance at embarkation and disembarkation, to dining and stateroom staff. Caught up with all the latest movies under the stars and in cabin and really enjoyed The Crown grill, La Mer and Alfredos. Symphony dining staff were also superb. Joined the pop choir and made some new friends ….All in all loved it and are excited to return next year. Read Less

My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

ship was very nice, crew on board were great. the cruise directors team were fantastic one helped with a temporary fix to the brake cable on my walker. we were surprised to find that there no longer cups given with drink package but instead got two large bottles of water, we had planed on keeping the cups to use as gifts and feel that the bottled water was a waste. the dinning room team were excellent in looking after us making sure i knew which foods were safe for me to eat with my food allergies. we enjoyed the shows but feel that there is not enough seating for passengers with disabilities, there should also be a way of stopping people standing at top of stairs and blocking the view of the people sitting at back of theater, i was sitting next to stairs and heard lots of arguments over this. the only negative for me was that my walker could not get past the steward trolleys in hallway when i was trying to get to or from room. once i was stuck for ten minutes until a crew member came past and moved trolley for me to get to room. i have not had this on other princess ships. We have previously sailed with all the big liners so the decision to book with Princess was a no brainer! Princess are at the top their game?? Are they not?? Or so we are led to believe!! We booked 12 months in advance and couldn’t wait for our trip to come around - We booked and paid for all specialty dining and shore excursions prior to departure - However 3 of our 7 shore excursions were cancelled prior to sailing and we were told via email that the money would be returned to us in the same manner it was paid ie; into our bank account - Yet it wasn’t, after 3 weeks we had received nothing, so we contacted Princess to query where our refund was? We were informed that the money had been credited to our “onboard” account?? Yet we were not even on board?? Are you serious? We didn’t cancel these bookings, Princess cancelled these bookings (and well before sailing) and only after requesting to speak with the manger were we provided with the refund we were entitled!! So our cruise finally arrives, we pre-ordered drinks and snacks for our balcony ready for the sail out of Sydney - 4pm The prawns were described as 10 pieces served on ice with cocktail sauce?? What eventually arrived was 50+ pieces of frozen, unclean, wet, slimy, imported prawns .. Bait prawns could be helpful in describing what arrived but even bait prawns are bigger than the rubbish that we received .. I called room service and advised them that the product we received was definitely not as described on the menu and requested a full refund!!! The room seadvice mgr agreed that the product was of very poor quality and agreed to the refund - Once again credited to our on board account! It’s becomming clearer that Princess will rip you off every chance they get - The passenger must pay even though the cruise company is at fault!! Three days in and another 3 shore excursions are cancelled - We receive notice the night before each excursion (because that’s plenty of time to make new plans for the day ahead) But this time we actually got a an explanation - “Not enough people were interested in the excursion you booked” Well Princess, if you know that your clientele is 80% elderly, why on earth offer excursion options like quad biking, 4 wheel driving and jet boating that only appeal to the odd 20% of passengers? Only to disappoint them and cancel the night before? Maybe you need to revise your excursion options .. This cruise was one problem after another, not only for us but it was common talk amongst guests the the shore excursions were problems for many of them, with cancellations the night before, changes to excursion itineraries without notice, excursion duration shorter than described, itineraries not as described, meals not as described, locations not as described - All common problems with no apologies, reimbursements or refunds .. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to get off the ship, we had very little options on board once our excursions were cancelled .. We saw very little of the country we had paid so much money to see!! We didn’t pay top dollar to stare at the 4 walls of our stateroom, yet that’s exactly what happened! The dining room food was ordinary, not much variety, even the buffet was lacking in appeal .. The specialty restaurants were nice, but we also pay more $$ for these so no surprises here!! This list of problems we had goes on, but who has all day to read about it?? The ship is beautiful, immaculate and the employes are wonderful but unfortunately this doesn’t make up for the personal expense of such a poor experience .. We could have flown to NZ and seen much more for half the cost of this cruise .. Not happy princess, never again! Read Less

Never seen so many wheelchairs of all shapes & sizes, walking frames, walking sticks. Not a cruise for young or even middle aged. Lifts were a nightmare, waiting times, crammed full & stopping all floors. I had more exercise walking up stairs than all the other 5 cruises we have done put together & actually didnt put on any weight. Going anywhere & doing anything in a group was very slow, crowded, so have to be prepared to be patient otherwise avoid this cruise. The Majestic itself looked old classically decorated, furnishings, carpets, nothing much modern about this ship although the internet worked better than any other liner we have been on & I could actually get reasonable internet in our cabin, te full internet package that is, the other packages are crap. We loved the area on 17th called Hollywood, also parts of the market buffet being always open so you could eat out of normal hours thus avoiding worse of crowds. Staff were great. Dining room food mostly pretty ordinary. Paid for chinese Harmony twice mainly for a change & it was okay. Would have gone to other pay restaurants but put off by other guests comments. Alfredo's was good. Noise was a bit of a problem with people slamming front doors during the night. Also hated the Captain blasting his updates into the cabin. New Zealand was okay, interesting bit too much like Australia & Tassy for us to get too excited about. Overall a 5 or 6 out of 10 compared to Med cruise Venice to Barcelona last year of a 9 & asian grand year before of 8, River cruise year before that of 9.5. Read Less
