Ship and crew lovely but cruise cut short

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Brilliance of the Seas

My husband and I sailed on what we call "the cruise to nowhere", being the 19 March 2024 Brilliance of the Seas "11 day "cruise to the South Pacific from Sydney, Australia The cruise was meant to head to Lifou, Noumea, Mystery Island, Port Vila and Luganville for 11 days. In the end we only (just) got to Lifou - the other ports were cancelled and the cruise was cut short from 11 days to 8 days ...

We were a group of 17, part of a larger group who had been traveling in Australia and New Zealand. Several wanted to visit the Great Barrier Reef, and this cruise seemed to be an easy and fun way to do it. While we are not exactly "quiet and shy" people by any means, everyone in our group was annoyed by how loud everything on this ship was. The decor was loud, the other passengers were loud, the ...

Review for a Asia Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

The ship is magnificent, although the recent refurbishment in 2023 didn't reach all the staterooms( not allowed to call them cabins), the carpet in our room was badly stained. When contemplating a cruise with Cunard get everything in writing, we spent 3 hours on the phone between NZ and Australia with the Cunard agent and decided to upgrade our stateroom to a room with an un-interrupted view, on ...

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Disney Wonder

I chose this cruise to celebrate my birthday with my two daughters and four grandchildren. I wanted to do the 4 day cruise but could not justify the 20,000 dollars so chose the two day one. By the time you have converted the dollars to USA and paid travel insurance and the gratuities the cost adds up even for two days. The cruise itself was a lot crammed into a short amount of time. Long queues ...

Children in adult areas a pain

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Noordam

I write this from the Rolling Stone Lounge on MS Noordam. A lovely time overall, the band is awesome!!!! but children under 10 running wild at 10:15pm in the rolling stone lounge with inadequate parental supervision is not my my idea of a good time. Precocious children spoil the fun for adults who just want to have a good time from an adult perspective. A few drinks and a bit of a dance is ...

Background Information This was a multigenerational cruise involving my elderly parents, 40ish sibling with partner and a teenager. I've done 5 previous cruises with Royal. Travel To Port of Embarkation We travelled to Sydney and each stayed at different hotels. I suggest booking one within walking distance to the terminal. There are plenty of choices in Circular Quay or The ...

Cost cutting a feature

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Carnival Splendor

I have sailed with Carnival many times, the last one pre Covid in February, 2020 and always found everything to be great. We recently joined Splendor for a 10 night South Pacific cruise on December 4th, 2023. Sadly the cost cutting on this cruise was very obvious with less security, cabin stewards, waiters, cleaners etc. Almost everything is now controlled by a Carnival hub app now that ...

As we have previously cruised with Royal Caribbean on 8 previous occasions we decided to cruise with them once again. As we considered RC to be of a very high standard .. We chose a 9 night cruise to Adelaide and Melbourne as we wanted to visit Kangaroo Island and town of Hahndorf. Brilliance of the Seas is an older type ship but very well maintained. Our expirations were high but only to be ...

Great price and perks but just not for us...

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Carnival Splendor

Received a great price from Carnival from the VIFPP program...an oceanview suite with Cheers package and lots of added perks. In all, Carnival would have paid for us to get on! Even had transfers to and from the cruise port via SUV compliments of Carnival! Lots of presents including fresh fruit and wine, power bank, backpack and kangaroos delivered to our cabin throughout the cruise. But, we ...

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Coral Princess

Having done more than 20 cruises with Princess, I understood what their “loyalty program” meant and why we aspired to be Elite members. Today is so different, the speeches remain the same but nothing else. Gone are the precious internet minutes; discounts in the shops are only on full priced items; no special toiletries in the bathrooms; and reduced access to the Captain Circle rep on board. ...
