"The food in the main restaurant was of a goof=d quality, but as we were on the ship for 25 days lacked a little in choice toward the end. When contemplating a cruise with Cunard get everything in writing, we spent 3 hours on the phone between NZ and Australia with the Cunard agent and decided to upgrade our stateroom to a room with an un-interrupted view, on deck 11, we were told some of deck 8 would also have these views but were promised the higher one...."Read More

1-10 of 33 Cunard Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Cruise Reviews for Luxury to Australia & New Zealand from Sydney (Australia)
The ship is magnificent, although the recent refurbishment in 2023 didn't reach all the staterooms( not allowed to call them cabins), the carpet in our room was badly stained. When contemplating a cruise with Cunard get everything in writing, we spent 3 hours on the phone between NZ and Australia with the Cunard agent and decided to upgrade our stateroom to a room with an un-interrupted view, on ...
My first time sailing with Cunard having sailed mainly with Royal Caribbean (14 cruises) and I was so disappointed.
1, the stateroom was nice but the balcony was stained and rusty.
2, the ship felt old and tired.
3, the shops on board catered for people who wanted expensive watches and jewellery, ladies clothes, booze and the normal Cunard material.
4, I didn’t purchase the $400+ ...
Don't be frightened by this review. If you have already booked, you will not have a bad time on this cruise ship. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. HOWEVER, if you have not already booked, I suggest you consider another ship.
The QM2 is aging and due for a re-ft later this year. There's a lot of rust and stains around deck, in restaurants and our cabin. It clearly shows the wear from all those ...
We wanted to complete an earlier world cruise, and so booked the 49 day Sydney to New York cruise. We love the QM2 and continue to love it. After the Covid pause we were a bit worried as to what shape the ship would be in, but we found it to be in good shape. Things are returning to normal. The ship was very clean, and the deck crew was putting a lot of time and effort into painting.
As usual, ...
This was our first cruise since the ship was refitted in late 2016, just after we did the Cape Horn cruise on her. Some things are better like the Stateroom décor, the Carinthia lounge is a great improvement on the Winter Garden. I feel though that the Kings court is a great big miss. The cool white marble type décor is not in synch with the rest of the ship which has a warm colour scheme. With ...
The voyage was bought in August 2017 for a February-March 2018 Sydney to Sydney via NZ, 13 nights. The itinerary date above says Auckland 9 nights, wasn't an option as Auckland was off the itinerary anyway and we had two days in Tauranga instead.
I enjoyed the surprise birthday present in January and that followed through with the experience. From the Captain to the waiters and cabin staff, ...
Chose this cruise, Sydney to Hong Kong on QM2 to get a sample of Cunard Line, not so much the ports.
Always been on my bucket list to try QM2.
Embarkation in Sydney was very good, efficient, only had to wait half an hour to embark.
The ship was magnificent, like new after refurbish, nicely furnished and plenty of deck space. Cabin was fine, had sheltered balcony cabin on deck 5, well ...
Britannia restaurant had excellent food and service for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Our cabin steward was the most helpful and hard working man, friendly but unobtrusive and he always had the cabin looking immaculate.
All the entertainment was good but the Royal Court singers were excellent.
There was always something to do of interest on the ship, classes, lectures, films, you could not ...
I enjoy the short coastal cruises offered by Cunard. They allow me to escape from my otherwise busy schedule. The uncrowded feel of an ocean liner rather than the glitz of a cruise ship is the most appealing aspect of the Cunard offering.
Activities such as movies, lectures and deck sports are well conducted and schediled so that all can participate.
Dining in the Britannia restaurant is ...
We chose this cruise as part of a package tour and cruised to Sydney from Capetown. Most of the Phillipino staff were excellent, Some of the staff did a rotation in the buffet area and European staff came on board, they were not friendly and quite surly they were definitely not suited to this type of work and many looked as though the guests were an inconvenience.
The food was very nice in the ...
