This ship is very nice - incredibly clean, very nice people, and good overall comfort. However, there are some things that need to be fixed before I would consider spending this kind of money to go on a "luxury" cruise again. This was cruise #19 for us.
1. The cabins are nice (the bathrooms are really nice), but quite small in comparison with what you get on other lines for the same amount of ...
Chose this cruise as an alternative to our usual cruise line (Fred Olsen) to see if we would like this type of cruising.
Ship,
The ship is beautiful with lots of public spaces but it seems deserted a lot of the time and lacks atmosphere. It is like staying in a four or five star hotel.
Cabin.
The cabin lived up to all my expectations being large and comfortable with lots of storage ...
We chose this cruise because of the places this ship docks and the fact there is an included shore excursion in all ports. Entertainment is not an import criteria for us as we reside in the Big Apple where we have so many different options of world class entertainment. However, there is no excuse for the poor quality of entertainment that is offered on this ship and it only was worse as the cruise ...
This is a beautiful ship with very good food and amenities. Disappointed that the"Snow Room" was merely a cold room with frost and the Steam Room was out of service for the entire cruise. The staff, with the exception of the clueless Customer Service people, were quite good. They did a great job!
All was wonderful until after we left Russia. Lost one of the two engines and spent several days in ...
We were part of the cruise that was cancelled after a ship transformer malfunction forced the cruise end after 5 days in.
We booked this trip two years prior and had great expectations. We were traveling with a group of 12 and had worked coordinating this trip for months.
The ship is very nice. The open areas were very spacious There were seldom lines (until the breakdown) . The ...
Well, this is going to be one difficult review to write, as more than half of our cruise was cancelled by Viking on account of mechanical problems with our Ocean Cruise ship, the Star. It was to be a "trip of a lifetime," and I guess the adventures of the adjusted itinerary combined with the beauty and comfort of the new ship made it so, in the end. So I'll try to give the balanced ...
We sailed on the Viking Star for the Homelands tour. As with any trip, there were positives and negatives. The biggest positive was the Star itself. It was fun being on a new ship and it really is beautiful with a comfortable stateroom and lots of very nice public spaces. The crew was great. The food was good (not great) and they did a good job of accommodating my food allergy. The itinerary ...
The rather delightful cruise was bookended by a flight itinerary that was nothing short of a nightmare. Viking created the problem by not allowing enough time to make international connecting flights on both the outbound and inbound flights. My claim for missed connections was paid by Viking's travel insurance company, Travel Guard, after a two month wait. Lesson learned!
My overall ...
My husband and I paid for this trip two years in advance so we, along with most of the other passengers we talked with, felt like we paid for this ship. Our expectations were that this was an expensive trip that didn't quite measure up.
Our flight from Atlanta was uneventful and our transport to the ship was good. However, in the future I want to be able to upgrade our seats to Business ...
I am afraid that it is unlikely that I will consider Viking for another ocean trip after my experience here. Whilst the experience was not awful by any stretch of the imagination, it was not anywhere near as good as the overhyped advertising that we saw.
DINING
The dining experience was reasonable and the waiting staff were good apart from one senior member of crew in the restaurant who ...
