Overall, was very disappointed with the cruise. Would not recommend Princess Cruises. Thought that the quality of the ship’s food would be much better. The seafood was terrible; salmon over cooked, lobster tail salty, mushy and inedible. Poor selection of desserts. Staff in dining area not very attentive. Buffet very good with a nice selection. The Piazza entertainment was very enjoyable. The ice cream bar was poor, soft ice cream and few toppings. Dated furnishings but in good repair. Water leakage on some decks. Cabin very comfortable and larger than expected. Temperature control excellent. Housekeeping staff very good. On ship daily activities varied and very good. A good variety of excursions. Length of stay in some ports very limited. The shops were not very exciting, poor selection. Some items highly overpriced. Bargain sales poor. Personal items very limited. Internet service very poor and expensive. Entertainers on the whole good. Laundry room efficient. A nice addition. Read Less

Our dream of going to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were so disappointed with the company Princess. It was our 5 th croissière and the second with Princess. To start our bed was like a plywood board! Hard and not comfortable. Even after notifying the customer service, the housekeeper has put extra covers ... And nothing more! Bad has my back all the holidays! (I've never had a problem before with my back and since I came back it all came back normal!) Secondly the buffet on the 14 floors, they could not find a place to sit, lots of older people with canes and walkers on our boat and they went around the two rooms without finding a place and finally margin in their room or coffee in the 5th and sometimes I found a place in the bar to eat a donut and a coffee. If I ended up finding a place I would fill so much couple as I am 42 years old and not give my place to an elderly person with difficulty in moving it. It's a lot of trouble because in town if a pregnant woman or an elderly person needs to sit it will give me pleasure to give her my place, this is part of my values. I find it awful to experience this. My trip costing me over $ 9000 can. And I think we should be forgetting to fight to find a place to eat is ridiculous! Or even lunch in his cabin! The dining rooms are open from 7 am to 9 am with services. They are ridiculous to put a alarm to be able to have a lunch on the boat. Following my complaint they did absolutely nothing! But they are not bother to take the total on our credit card. So disappointed with this trip ... thanks to Princess! Read Less

I chose this trip to get my 14 cruise in. The 4 days was in the right time of year for me and I had not been on the Star before. I really like the size, a Great Captain, and I found the staff to be very warm, responsive, and attentive. A wonderful group of fellow travelers were aboard and I met many of them and enjoyed the meetings with them. I have had several invitations to meet with quite a few of these super travelers in the future; and I intend to do just that. This ship has not been in dry-dock since 2011 and it really shows in the carpets, the hanging pictures, the bathrooms. All in dire need of renewal and/or replacements. The dining was just so-so for a Princess. In this, my 14th Princess, these were the least inspiring menus I have known. Not bad, just ** well "dull". Read Less

Do this cruise every December, know many of crew and the Casino staff. Previous Star Princess cruises have been enjoyable and consistent in service. But I have noticed the reduction in Dining room staff has caused waiters to seem harried and no time for small talk. Our waiter had 3 tables (24 people), Food has not been up to the standards of the past few years. Little things that count, no butter on table, almost impossible to get waiters attention for more of anything. Service and food in the Crown Grill is excellent, very well presented and the beef and veal are above anything served in the dining rooms. Sabatini's , the Italian restaurant has changed its menu and is no longer well attended. The entertainment seemed to lack the reviews or accolades I've experienced on previous Princess Cruises . Our group rarely stayed for any complete shows. Overall, It seems the new Princess Management is being overly cost conscious while they prepare for the upcoming major changes, "Ocean Medallion Class". Still the best cruise line for the money. We loved the cruise. After 5 nights in Santiago, we took turbus for $8 each to Valporaiso for 3 nights before our embarkation. ( hotels were Galerias and Cirilo Armstrong respectively. Wonderful stays) Embarkation was easy, but involves going to the passenger terminal a few miles from the ship. Then once you are checked in, Princess transports you to the ship which is docked at the container port. We were able to enter cabin immediately upon hoarding. Lunch at horizon court and then got to know the ship. Princess Star is very well maintained and beautiful. We had a balcony cabin aft port side on deck 10, caribe. Extra large balcony with 2 chairs that recline with footrests and a table. We enjoyed the balcony to the fullest, even when the weather turned cooler as we went farther south. We just put on our jackets and brought out our coffees our cocktails/ wine. The entertainment was fabulous. Both cultural events and historical lectures were held almost everyday. Tango lessons, tango orchestras, line dancing south of the border style, port lectures, historical/cultural lectures, you name it, these activities abounded. And we went to almost all. The movie entertainment was top notch. Under the stars got chilly a few nights, but blankets were brought out. And movies were also shown in the Vista Lounge. Dancing music was throughout the ship at several venues everyday. We love the Piazza. And the International Cafe. That brings me to food. Delicious!!! We had anytime and were able to get a table for 2 every night. Loved it. Great wait staff throughout. Great choices on the menus. We also used room service frequently for coffee, juice in morning on our balcony. Excursions were enriching and lots of fun. We chose Princess for every stop except Stanley, and Montevideo In Stanley we took the public bus to gypsy cove for $20 each to see a few penguins. In Montevideo we walked the ciudad vieja on our own and had lunch in Puerto Mercado/great grilled steaks. Beautiful beach and we even saw a few emperor penguins. We felt that value wise, Princess delivered a great excursion at every stop. Punto Arenas had to be skipped because of the weather. We disembarked easily, feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and culturally enriched. We remained In Buenos Aires for a week more in a condo I found on flip key. Great place, "Hollywood condo." Then went to Colonia in Uruguay for 3 nights on buquebus. Stayed at Poada Don Antonio and loved every minute. Ended trip with 5 days back in Montevideo at My Suites Boutique hotel in Pocitos. Great little hotel We loved our whole trip and the Princess Star cruise made it all the better. Read Less

Terrible odor permeated my cabin. It was the filthy shower curtain that had pink mold and smelled of urine. Balcony not finished with slip proof flooring as others are. Very small and tight. Food was simply terrible. It was always cold which is scary because that is how one gets ill. Limited food options. Over salted. Disgusting. Omelet were premade egg patties they simply threw fillings into. Kind of Subway breakfast sandwich. Who decided it would be a good idea to give folks who paid $150 for ultimate ship behind the scenes tour a heavy bathrobe. What about the weight when flying? Dumb. Very little to do. No fun activities. Casino is so tight, only house wins. Never again. Will stay with Carnival! Read Less

Staff was very friendly and attentive, I felt welcomed and appreciated, unlike a recent NCL trip. Food was good to very good in the traditional and anytime dinning rooms, the Horizon court buffet was packed during breakfast and lunch but the food trays were mostly kept full and tasted OK. Seating here was always an issue and I usually ended up with a table next to a busy main traffic isle as those with window seats around the perimeter did not seam to want to leave anytime soon. The issue here was I ALWAYS had a fellow cruiser walking by me, bumping into me or hovering over my table as I ate, not a relaxing enjoyable experience, unlike the main traditional dinning rooms which were great and I always looked forward to. The Ship was clean and well maintained and the entertainment that I saw was acceptable. The Star does have a lot of heated fresh water deep swimming pools and many hot tubs so I could always find someplace to get wet or soak depending on the weather. The only reason I will not sail on the Star again is I do enjoy a few fine Cigars while on board and the Star does not have a Cigar Lounge, they have designated only ONE Place on the ship were you can smoke a cigar and it is a heavy cigarette smoking, noisy and rowdy sports bar with your basic bar stools and bar table and chairs and a dozen TV's with all the same sports programming. It is true that Cigar smokers are a minority but for me it is an important part of the cruise experience and the Star Princess did not meet my expectations in this regard and as such I would not sail on her again, which is unfortunate as I had a overall good time on a good ship.
