We've cruised with Princess before and four other cruise lines. We have Princess as our vacation of choice. We actually have done this cruise before on the Grand Princess. And, will be sailing on the Star Princess at least three more times before she is reassigned later this year. When living in France and Singapore we went with local cruise lines, but they didn't compare to Princess in terms of Ship accommodations, itinerary, food or staff services. We selected a cabin with an unobstructed view. We have made this cruise before on the Grand Princess, and going this early in spring, across the Pacific Ocean, at 20+ knots or 23 miles per hour, you don't really sit out on your balcony for very long. Once you are in the islands and the warmer climate, a balcony is very worth while. But, we had chosen extensive shore excursions, so we wouldn't be sitting of a balcony anyway. We lived in Hawaii for about a year back in 2008 so we already know much of the history and culture. But, Dr. Anne, the naturalist's talks about culture, history, fish and animals and details about each island were excellent, and we learned even more. Tikki Dave and his wife are wonderful entertainers, trainers [hula and ukulalee] as well as making nut necklesses. Great fun, but mostly they provided hours of entertainment. Other entertainers, the commedians, impersonators, singers and the production shows were supurb. Overall, the Star Princess is feeling her age, will be getting a spruce up this summer, but she is still a wonderful experience with a wonderful crew. Great food in the Princess fashion of excellence and we're already booked 3 more cruises on her because she still shines in the Princess tradition which is as good as it gets on the seas. Hope to see some of you in March-April and again in September aboard the Star Princess, you won't be disappointed. Read Less

This was to be a get away to make up for a trip that ended because of a family tradgedy. The ship was fine, but the extra amenities were lacking. We tried the special dining at the steak house and the porterhouse was chewy and the filet mignon that replaced it was not much better. The wine package was not adequately explained and could only be used in a specific dining venue. There were only a few wines that met the criteria for inclusion and others were surcharged although there was no refund if the cost was below the ceiling price. The entertainment was professional and well done, although I was a tad surprised, when a Motown show had no black singers or dancers. None of the shows had any black entertainers. The spa offered a thermal package, but the only difference between it and the regular free salon activities were plastic sandals, and a robe. Although there was a pool, it was not private with the exception that no children were admitted. The general ship population was able to use it at any time. The balcony cabin we had was not private because the Promenade was just outside and on weather permitting days had a steady stream of people traipsing by at all times. The cabin steward was excellent and everything was done promptly and effeciently. The regular dining menu, service and quality was very good. The excursions offered by the ship were very expensive and did not live up to expectations. One port was bypassed because of weather and safety concerns. I had expected this trip to exceed the amenaties and experiences we have previously had with Norweigian, but alas they did not. Read Less

We wanted to visit Hawaii, and at the same time, renew our wedding vows. We love sea days and this cruise had many. From the moment we came aboard we had a terrific experience. Now, truth be told, the Star is far from the pride of the Princess fleet. It is showing its age with rust lines all over, leaking ceilings in many places, older carpet in passageways, and so forth, but the crew worked hard to keep it as clean as possible and their attitude and smiling faces overcame any concerns about the ship. From the dining staff, to the entertainers and cabin staff, the crew was wonderful. Our vow renewal was everything we had hoped for and more, from the captain officiating to the rose petals scattered on our bed that night! Even though we had to skip Kauai because of the wind, the other stops were just fine their were shore excursions for everyone. We particularly liked the variety of entertainment around the ship, and the Piazza was our destination for several hours per day, just for the variety of entertainment and the great food in the International Cafe. Crooners Bar on Deck 7 was another favorite for us. Embarkation was fast and easy, and disembarkation was the fastest I have ever experienced. Bravo Princesss! Read Less

I wanted to give Princess one more try, and I wanted to get out of town in January. The ship (I was told) is about to be sold to a different cruise line so that was the reason they have not done any major upkeep on it. The seats in the theater were frayed and did not sit properly. Some seats made you feel like you were about to slide off because they did not fully stay in the upright position. The bathrooms in the cabins need to be updated and the balcony cabin I had was smaller than I had expected. There was barely enough room on the balcony to put 2 small chairs and a small table. The entertainment was not the quality I have come to expect from other cruise lines and as the cruise progressed the food seemed to lose quality until at the end instead of fresh pineapple on the buffet it looked like a can of Dole pineapple slices. The crew was very nice and helpful and the specialty restaurants were very good. On future cruises they plan to include internet, beverage packages and so on to passengers but of course not on this one. Read Less

The Princess Sea of Cortez Cruise was outstanding! The ports of La Paz and Loreto are not visited often and remind me of what Puerto Vallarta and Cabo were like decades ago. We chose to make this a relaxing cruise and did not take any excursions, but we walked around all 4 ports and loved doing that. The Star Princess is an older ship but it is well maintained and a perfect size, not too big or small. The production shows were underwhelming, but the smaller venue entertainers were excellent. Cruise Director Gary Golding is one of the best on the seas, and his staff was fun and omni-present. And there was not a single crew member that we interacted with that wasn’t helpful and friendly! Dining room food was outstanding. Enjoyed the pizzeria, hamburger grill and ice cream bar. The buffet food was acceptable and had a nice variety. Highly recommended! Read Less

Profit enhancement appears to have won out over service and conveniences. After about 20 cruises: with Princess, still cannot get a table for 2 without getting in line to complain. Did they think I was not serious when I request 2-seating every time for more than a dozen cruises? Yes, I mean it, every time. If they cannot honor their request without a dustup every time, at the beginning of the cruise, they should not bother asking. the 10th deck cannot get cool enough. specially at night, the room would not cool down. pre-purchased gifts are not delivered to the room, you have to go get them. so forget about surprising your wife with a box of candy. we like coffee cards. except now, you do not know how many drinks you have left and you cannot any longer carry the unused drinks to the next cruise. desserts are sequestered from reach, you have to ask for them. so the joy of loading up your plate with treats to sample cannot be, not without the inquisitive scornful eye of staff. I do not mind the kids running around all over. but who gave them noise makers? all in all very relaxing pilgrimage we make to the islands about every year end. these are relatively minor complaints. not eating in the dining room is no big deal, and after all, the food there is not so good anyway. basically a cattle call. sabatinis and crown grill the places to go. the food is nice and fresh in the buffet and it is quiet and less crowded. they say about eating places, follow the locals. on board where does staff eat? i saw the captain at the horizon grill. 14th deck. Smart choice. we missed kauai due to weather. that is fine. it happens. you need patience and tolerance when in uncertain conditions. I do this cruise every year. And will again. By the way, princess bedding is terrific, and the tv's are large and have a good variety of programming. all good there. Read Less

The Star Princess is showing the age that she has. Overall, she is still in good shape. But the Crew! They are what made the trip. The Asst. Cruise Directors Molly, Dan, Roxy, and Oz were the best. Always with a smile and a funny quip to start your day or night off. Funny, Funny games always. Our two servers, Benny and Mario, were always there to help us get whatever we wanted and when we wanted it. Great with the suggestions when we were not sure of the food that we wanted to try. In the photo gallery, the trio of Marita, Illia and Patrick were very understanding of what we wanted in our pictures. The light was always right and the poses prefect. We had a Renewal of Vows for our 25th and the pictures were wonderful. The Officer Andrew that organized our Renewal of Vows was great. He looked after everything that we needed and could not apologized to us enough times. It wasn't even his fault. The Captain did not speak loud enough for my wife to hear and could not repeat after him as requested. As such, it ruined the video of our R of V. He made sure that we received everything that we were supposed to and even threw in some extras as for a sorry. The last one would be Milos, out Crown Grill waiter. He made the already great meal at the Crown Grill better. Milos was smart, witty and always taking care of us. My wife wanted to adopt him. It was a great, great trip and we could have not asked for a better trip. Read Less

I have very few complaints and even those are minor. This cruise had something for all age groups, although clearly, the vast majority of the passengers were elderly. Daniel Oliver, the nighttime singer in the Crooner's Bar is an outstanding talent, both as a pianist and a vocalist. It was a 15-day cruise but the variety of entertainments, classes and lectures about Hawaii, dance lessons, cooking lessons, you name it was absolutely great. Tomas, our stateroom steward was a jewel. The MaitreD in the Club Class dining was exceptional. The embarking and disembarking process was the smoothest I've ever had. I have a few areas for improvement. In the casino, there were only 2 Buffalo Gold slot machines and the wait to use those was ridiculous. It's a popular game, they need more. The hamburgers were never hot. They were warm or room temperature. The cheese didn't even melt. I went to a lecture entitled future cruses expecting hear about exciting destinations, and instead it was a presentation on interpreting your cruise card and what to expect on a cruise. The lectures on Hawaii were great, educational, and poignant. A note of warning: The excursions fill up quickly! Don't procrastinate if there's something you want to do or it will be full. Last, I want to commend the captain. A passenger became critically ill during this voyage. We were 2 days out of Hawaii. The captain made an announcement that be was advised that the situation was critical and he was speeding with all haste to get to our next port. He apologized, but said the ride was going to be rocky. It was. We rocked, rolled, and lurched about the ship for two days. However, he got us to Ensenada 12 hours earlier than scheduled to try and save this passenger's life. Ambulances were waiting when we docked. I was very impressed with how they responded to this emergency. Finally, the food was outstanding with the exception noted above. Read Less

Chosen for the fact that it departed and returned to Vancouver. Other than that very disappointed with size of cabin ( swing a cat ). Washroom no bigger than a postage stamp. Shower was so small to wash your legs and feet, head would stick through shower curtain. It was claustrophobic. To towel off was impossible either hands, elbows or shoulders would strike the sides. No cold water came through the faucet just hot or warm. This was mentioned but told this is how it is. The room was so small my wife and I bumped into one another quite often. Other than the actual musical shows ( there were 4 ). The rest of the entertainment was average at best. The food was away below par. Especially at the buffet. Only breakfast was edible. Capri dining room perhaps a step up but but not great. Casino was smoky and machines very tight. I think 1 jackpot of 5000 was won during the whole cruise. It would appear that princess cruises are in tough for money and are cutting back on good service, good food and first class entertainment. They are very heavy on shopping stores and in selling low end junk. Not as advertised and our travel company should have known about these shortcoming. It was a waste of money. Read Less

As we live in the Vancouver area we had a friend drop us off at Canada Place port. It took a bit of time and patience to get through security but then is was a quick embarkation. After having lunch we went to our cabin to find our luggage waiting for us. The emergency drill location for us was the Princess Theatre. It was very well organized and no need to bring life jackets. It is well worth it to get the "Coffee Card" to be able to have specialty coffees and a better cup of brewed coffee in the Piazza. We enjoyed the Enrichment Lecturer, George McGuire. He was very informative and entertaining. I did a few of the crafts, played cards and Mah Jong on the sea days. We went on a tour of Honolulu that we arranged at the port. The $50 each price was a lot better than the ship's tours. The Pearl Harbour Memorial was our last stop, before being returned to the ship. We were not able to see the "long movie" (all tickets - they are free, had been already given out) but we checked out the two small museums and they were good - also free. In Nawiliwili we walked to the nearby shops and enjoyed the picnic / park area and boardwalk. We decided not to get off the ship in Lahaina as we had spent quite a bit of time prevously in Maui, and this port required a tender. We enjoyed a peaceful time on the ship. In Hilo, we went to the farmers market and ate lunch at the "Pineapple" Bar. We had Pulled pork sliders and Pineapple cider and ale. The bus back is cheap, but takes a long time so it is better to get a taxi or Uber and share the cost with another couple. Back on the ship we participated in putting, ring toss and paper airplane contests. Daniel Oliver was a great singer and piano player in the Crooners Bar. We really enjoyed this cruise because of all the Canadians on board, over 2,000. A lot of passengers were from the Vancouver area. Princess provided us with a traditional Turkey dinner for our Thanksgiving and had a special trivia and Canadian Name that tune that evening. We chose the Walk-off option so we were off the ship before 8am. We took the Canada Line to Bridgeport station and then a bus home. Sure beats having to fly. Read Less

I have been on many cruise lines and several cruises over the years and unfortunately, this was my first and last Princess cruise. We were celebrating our anniversary as we saw several other couples were and chose this cruise for it being more adult orientated and minimal kids.. this was definitely true. However, we were met with disrespect from staff when trying to engage in the activities we had paid for through their upgraded anniversary package. In the package you get a meal at one of the specialty dining places. Prior to our arrival, we had chosen the location and date of such place. When on the ship, we asked the front desk if they could let us know the time of our dinner, in which we were redirected back to our room to make the phone call to the dining reservation line (this would have been no problem if staff had told us upon arrival to go to the front desk). When calling the line, I was greeted with "I have been trying to get a hold of you" in which neither mine or my husbands phones had missed calls and neither did our stateroom. Thank you kind lady for yelling at me to tell me you have been trying to get a hold of me.. great lie to be told on day one. Next, with our package, you receive a couple's massage. We go up to the spa to book such massage which we are met with a confused look by the staff about such massage and them telling/asking us if it is a 25 minute should massage? So are you trying to low ball us or do you not have any record of us having a massage. We then are informed to check with the front desk staff, again. Head back down, check with front desk, met with confusion, and they call the spa in which says we are good to. So why did you have us go, wait in line for 30 minutes, for that? Thank you, we appreciate it. You also get a complimentary 8x10 photo. We had put a photo from the first night on hold that we both liked. On the last night we went to pick up and use our package to pay for it. We are met with, confusion and hostility by the photography staff as we need to provide the card that indicates we get this photo.. we were never given a card, yes we asked if she could verify in the computer our package in which we were met with another rude no and yelling from staff that we need this card in order to redeem it. I obviously over frustrated by what should be our romantic anniversary get away let the lady know that we don't have this card so therefor it's a waste of money. My family and I (by family I mean the 20+ of us) are avid cruisers. We plan to go on a cruise every other year and they as well as my husband and I, will not be using Princess due to their disrespect, poor customer service, and ultimately, ruining our, what should have been, romantic & relaxing getaway. We were very hopeful because some times cruises are tough with all the kids running around, but I will gladly take the hospitality and kid noises over a Princess cruise again. Read Less

Dates, price, and ports were desirable. We've traveled with Princess on an Alaskan cruise and I based my good prior experience on booking with Princess again. However, I was disappointed in how old and poorly maintained the Star has become. The overall feel of the ship is "aged". Our stateroom smelled of urine upon arrival and unfortunately that never faded throughout the week! The staff was not as friendly as expected, with the exception of a handful who did go out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The food both in the buffet and the formal dining rooms was only "acceptable". Not once did we receive a "hot" meal, but more like "lukewarm". However, the pizza parlor and grill were exceptionally delicious and fresh (most likely because they make the food as it's ordered). We enjoyed the Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway ports but were disappointed with the Victoria port. We arrived 30 minutes before dark and left approximately 4 hours later...not much you can see or do in that time frame so we felt it was a total waste! On a positive note, the bed and bedding were stupendous - best part of the ship in my opinion. Read Less

Overall a nice experience. Great cabin, balcony was well used and steward was perfect. Food was not up to other Princess ships I've been on but service was wonderful. I should clarify, Horizon Court Buffet at times reminded me of college dorm fare. Shows were very good. The most annoying thing was the constant announcements of sales. Yes, they have to make a profit but sometimes it's the little things that make a customer feel special. It was exciting to receive a packet in the post with documents, luggage tags and great expectations of an upcoming adventure. Now you have to print yourself documents etc etc. Nice touch at the end of the cruise was the airlines luggage program. Bags whisked away not to be touched again until you land at your home airport. Note the Star is getting a bit long in the tooth. Showing some age, it gets hard to maintain a ship after 15 years of service. Read Less

Overall we had a wonderful time. I looked forward to the captain's greetings which always ended with "bye-bye". We purchased the steak and lobster balcony dinner, however this being our first cruise we thought you would dine on a special balcony of the ship. Not so, you are supposed to have a balcony room for this feature (they really should include that in the ad) so we asked the dining staff how we could amend this and they rose to the occasion. We had our own private waiters, James and Nino, who set us up at table on the aft balcony of the ship and dusk. They kept our champagne glasses filled, they took photos for us and even shelled our lobster. They provided us with a night of amazing memories. Alan, our cabin steward was also amazing. The first day he knew our names and always greeted us with a smile, even took a moment to ask about our excursions or our experience. He made us feel like family, not guests. Read Less

Celebrating 65th Birthday with an amazing cruise to Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. We started in Seattle with a tour of Mt. Rainier which was lovely. Perfect weather in Seattle. Embarkation was easy, efficient and smooth. We were in our balcony cabin shortly after boarding, unpacked and joined the sail away celebration. Star Princess was beautiful. Dining in all the venues was delicious and plentiful, our favorite was Crab Shack and The Crown Grill, The buffet was delicious and plentiful with lots of seating. We never had a problem finding something to eat and somewhere to sit. The coffee in the buffet was very good. Our cabin steward William was attentive and responsive to our needs and requests. The entertainment on board was fun and just right, including the enrichment series. Very informative about sea life and the bounty of Alaska. The shore excursions were perfect, we enjoyed each activity in each Port. The Alaska Rainforest and Raptor Center where we saw Sitka the Bald Eagle was just amazing. Whale Watching and Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau was simply breathtaking and we got to see many whales, including Orca’s up close. The Skagway White Pass Railroad was absolutely beautiful. Victoria is a beautiful City and we enjoyed our chocolate experience at Roger’s Chocolates. The weather the first week of September was beautiful, with the only exception being the fog that caused us to not be able to sail into the Tracy Arm Fjord, Service onboard the Star Princess was top notch with friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely love to do another Alaska Cruise and love Princess Cruises. Can’t wait for the next Princess Cruise adventure. I highly recommend this Star Princes Alaska Cruise. Read Less

It was arranged by a local bus tour company and it was a dream of mine. My husband and I decided that life is too short to sit around waiting for the lottery. The ship was awesome and our cabin was comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The dining was an experience in different tastes and an awesome and overwhelming journey. It was prepared well and it allowed us to experience different foods i.e. ate escargots for the first time and they were delicious. Anyone who said they were bored just were not taking advantage of what was available from bingo, bible study, casino, crafts, exercise, comedy acts and Broadway acts, etc. We also went on shore excursions in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway and they were all fun in their own way, Saw a good deal of country, spoke with many people and it was truly an awesome experience. The steward, Reinir was just a lovely individual who worked hard but was very genuine in his dealings with us. No phoniness about him. He was very good at giving us advice and directions about things on the ship and what was available. In the dining room we had Rhoderick and he guided us in an adventure in dining. Ate a variety of meals and they were second to no one. The chefs knew their way around a kitchen and the blends of flavours they used were out of this world. We ended our cruise in Seattle but prior to that we were in Victoria BC Canada. We arrived at 7 PM PST and it was beginning to darken soon after we embarked on a shuttle bus and we walked to Chinatown. If we had arrived at 4 PM the excursions others had taken would have been enjoyed a bit longer because the main complaint from others was they couldn't see anything because of the lack of light. ALL IN ALL for hubby and I it was a tremendous experience. The weather at times was abysmal but it's September in Alaska,,,rain and fog were a chance we took and we did not get to the TRACY fjord due to the dense thick fog and that was disappointing but safety was a factor and I am glad the Captain went on the side of safety. We chose this cruise because of the rates, itinerary and because it left from and returned to Seattle. I was told by friends that the food was mediocre so we were prepared. We weren’t surprised, the food was mediocre. However, the crew was very friendly and accommodating. The ship was clean and inviting. The best parts were the ports, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria. We saw salmon jumping and seals eating them in Ketchikan. We also ate at Alaska Fish House, very good! In Juneau we ate King Crab at Tracy’s King Crab Shack and used Alaska Tales for seeing Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching...highly recommend! In Skagway we ate at Skagway Brewery and had a Princess excursion to see White Pass Summit and it was breathtaking. We didn’t see much of Victoria because dock time was between 7pm and midnight. Tracy Arm Fjord was amazing! The ship turned 360 for a while so everyone could see all of the gorgeous scenery. It was a highlight of the cruise. Overall, we had a fabulous time. We have always gone Cruising to warm water but so many people said how great the Alaska Cruise is. Why? We couldn't walk the deck while out to sea or use the balcony. It's too cold. They didn't serve any local Alaskan dishes onboard. Only Alaskan inspired European dishes that were more European than Alaskan. (even the baked Alaska) We couldn't afford the excursions that cost $$$$ hundreds of dollars more per person than on warm water destinations. There are only two kinds of shops in the towns, jewelry shops and souvenir shops with the same stuff. Didn't get to see any glaciers or wildlife other than salmon in the river at Ketchican. It just was not a value to me. I would rather sit on a warm beach and snorkel in warm water for the money. The only highlight was some of the entertainment. We had an open dining and was the best choice, we usually don't eat very early as we like to enjoy the onboard entertainments. Overall Princess is the best cruise line in a matter of service and quality of the ships, unfortunately we cannot change the quality of the people ( passengers) lots of them rude, grumpy and with bad habit like fill a plate full of food and then leave half of it, waste waste waste or touch the food and place it back at rhe buffet,...disgusting and maybe they did not even wash their hands. I have never seem king crabs legs so small. i had to keep asking the housekeeper for towels and we never got soap. i don't think he ever change the sheets on our beds. but i did give him a tip before leaving. i were so sick and tire of someone trying to sell me something. the entertainment was okay. The excursions that took us into canada to the supension bridge, and that was overprice, served lunch of half cooked chicken. coming back into america from canada, our border patrol did not come on board the bus to check any pass ports. canada border partrol did. i will not cruise on princess again, but may try another line, but will investigate and check reviews before booking. I think a lot of the people that work on these ships think it will be all fun for them, until they find out that they have to work hard. Read Less

The cruise fit our travel schedule and we picked the best weather for the week. Sunshine everyday. We had no issues with embarkation or disembarkation during our port stops. Dining in the dining rooms was better than the buffet but it depended on your schedule as to which one to use. We used both. We did not take the cruise because of the food selections so as long as it was nourishing, it was okay. Unless you are looking for jewelry or art, don't get caught up in the sales pitches, it takes away from your valuable time for both sailing and excursions. Entertainment was very good, enjoyed the theater shows. A little too breezy for watching movies under the stars but did enjoy the walks on deck. Cabin was spacious but air was not working properly and refrigerator got warm b/c of lack of ventilation. Recommend balcony rooms just because of the views and privacy. Stateroom steward was excellent and the front desk was very helpful. I would definitely go again if the opportunity presented itself. I wish we would have had more time in some of our ports. The excursions took a lot of the time away from just seeing the towns where we stopped, but they were all very good. The train ride in Skagway, the Mendenhall Glacier excursion in Juneau or the tours of Ketchican and Victoria, they were all terrific. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we had wanted to see Alaska for quite sometime and finally had the opportunity to take the trip. On boarding was fine. Of boarding for excursions was slow and getting off on the last day was also slow. Our excursions were fun. We did the hike and float in Skagway and the self guided jeep tour in Juneau. The ship was old and dated but clean. The vegetarian options were lacking. I lived off side dishes for lunch and dinner for all 7 days. The cruise director Gary was amazing, he was one of the highlights for sure. SherAnn in the dining areas was simply fantastic, a true spirit to serve associate. The quality of the dancers and singers was not great in a few of the shows. The piano bar singer played all the songs in the spirit of a barber shop quartet but was missing the quartet. The female singers in the UK show had some annoying vocal habits. We tried to avoid any further shows staring them~ We went to one karaoke night and it was super fun, the place was packed so it must be popular but they only did this twice and both times the show was so short only a few people could sing. Why not do them for a longer period of time due to popularity?? Read Less

I loved this cruise and almost everything went perfectly. This was my first ever cruise. The staff for the restaurants and serving, cleaning, etc. are mostly Filipino and they are the sweetest, kindest people you will ever meet. All of the dining was excellent from the buffet to the formal restaurants. Plenty of food choices and very high quality, equal to dining out in a fine restaurant back home. I loved their breads. I couldn't get enough of it. We were fortunate enough to get a cabin for disabled passengers just by luck, and it was rather roomy and nice. Clean, comfortable, but most of all, very quiet. You cannot hear anything at all coming from neighbors. The cruise was sold out so I know there were people in the neighboring cabins. Very nice HD TV and a small refrigerator. The queen size bed was actually made up of two smaller mattresses placed side by side, so during the night they would often separate. The public areas are very clean and comfortable. I thought the best entertainment was actually the small intimate gatherings in the ship center on deck 7, or in the bars. I loved the "Consonance Duo". The formal shows were ok but "Born to Dance" was the best show by far, and the comedian "Noodles" was great too. The Magician was good but he's tries to hard to be a comedian. This all being said, I would like to offer a few items that were lacking. They push shopping very hard, especially in the jewelry store, EFFY. It is seriously overpriced. If you wait for the shore stops, you will find the same jewelry discounted from the ship at least 60%. They do place some nice deals out on deck 7 each day in all merchandise categories, those were pretty nice shopping for. Do yourself a favor and avoid the "Shopping Concierge". She pressures people to fill out jewelry surveys and tells people "don't shop in non approved Princess retailers on shore" which is totally ridiculous. She also likes to share the life story of the founder of EFFY jewelry like I would even care. The Spa services are also very expensive, but they are of high quality. I also had an unfortunate experience with the Acupuncture doctor, who pressured me quite bad about getting "a free consultation". When I said I wasn't interested, repeatedly, she actually got rather loud, nasty, and insulting. The stops in the ports were all very interesting, but unfortunately they spend too much time in Skagway, and too little time in Victoria. Victoria is a beautiful Canadian city with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and sights to see. Skagway is a tiny port town with a couple streets of pure tourist stores. I hope Princess considers dropping Skagway and making Victoria a full day. Activity updates and newsletters are great and delivered everyday. I do kind of wish they had more information on the Planetarium star watching activity. They had a signup time but no other information. Overall I would rate this cruise "Excellent" and would go on a Princess Cruise again. Read Less

This cruise was our 17th cruise and also our honeymoon cruise. Princess made us feel special - it was just amazing The embarkation was seamless, the stateroom was stunning, the ship was beautiful and well maintained. The food and service was second to none. Princess have 50 years experience in Alaska and it shows, everything went perfectly and we had the near perfect cruise. Club class dining was very nice with excellent restaurant staff who were very attentive. Speciality restaurants were also great, although the Sabitini's menu has been adapted to suit the US guest pallette more than the European and as a result the menu is a little unusual for an Italian inspired restaurant. Crown Grill never disappoints, steaks always cooked to perfection, everytime. Bars and entertainment were excellent, there was great variety in the theatre and lounge performers. We also had 'Puppies in the Piazza' which was a great treat for the kids and the adults. We also chose Princess for our shore excursions. Their detail in the excursion was better and there was little or no difference in the excursion cost. We went to the Lumberjack show in Ketchican, which was was organised and entertaining. From there I did the Deadliest Catch experiance which again was a superb excursion. In Juneau we chose the dog sledding on the Mendenhall Glacier with the Helicopter ride there and back - Wow what a superb experiance. We couldnt go to Skagway without having a trip on the White Pass and Yukon Railway which was well worth th fare, the train ride, narration on board and the scenery were just amazing The only tiny detail that was not quite up to scratch was the condition of the thermal area in the Spa, it badly needs refurbished and is currently looking very tired and worn out. We had 3 days pre cruise scheduled for exploring Seattle which was great because our outbound flight was cancelled and we, in fact lost a day getting to Seattle. Seattle is a lovely city with great attractions all within walking distance. If you are flying long haul, always plan to get to your embarcation port at least one day before your cruise. Read Less
