I have been on many cruise lines and several cruises over the years and unfortunately, this was my first and last Princess cruise. We were celebrating our anniversary as we saw several other couples were and chose this cruise for it being more adult orientated and minimal kids.. this was definitely true. However, we were met with disrespect from staff when trying to engage in the activities we had paid for through their upgraded anniversary package. In the package you get a meal at one of the specialty dining places. Prior to our arrival, we had chosen the location and date of such place. When on the ship, we asked the front desk if they could let us know the time of our dinner, in which we were redirected back to our room to make the phone call to the dining reservation line (this would have been no problem if staff had told us upon arrival to go to the front desk). When calling the line, I was greeted with "I have been trying to get a hold of you" in which neither mine or my husbands phones had missed calls and neither did our stateroom. Thank you kind lady for yelling at me to tell me you have been trying to get a hold of me.. great lie to be told on day one. Next, with our package, you receive a couple's massage. We go up to the spa to book such massage which we are met with a confused look by the staff about such massage and them telling/asking us if it is a 25 minute should massage? So are you trying to low ball us or do you not have any record of us having a massage. We then are informed to check with the front desk staff, again. Head back down, check with front desk, met with confusion, and they call the spa in which says we are good to. So why did you have us go, wait in line for 30 minutes, for that? Thank you, we appreciate it. You also get a complimentary 8x10 photo. We had put a photo from the first night on hold that we both liked. On the last night we went to pick up and use our package to pay for it. We are met with, confusion and hostility by the photography staff as we need to provide the card that indicates we get this photo.. we were never given a card, yes we asked if she could verify in the computer our package in which we were met with another rude no and yelling from staff that we need this card in order to redeem it. I obviously over frustrated by what should be our romantic anniversary get away let the lady know that we don't have this card so therefor it's a waste of money. My family and I (by family I mean the 20+ of us) are avid cruisers. We plan to go on a cruise every other year and they as well as my husband and I, will not be using Princess due to their disrespect, poor customer service, and ultimately, ruining our, what should have been, romantic & relaxing getaway. We were very hopeful because some times cruises are tough with all the kids running around, but I will gladly take the hospitality and kid noises over a Princess cruise again. Read Less

Dates, price, and ports were desirable. We've traveled with Princess on an Alaskan cruise and I based my good prior experience on booking with Princess again. However, I was disappointed in how old and poorly maintained the Star has become. The overall feel of the ship is "aged". Our stateroom smelled of urine upon arrival and unfortunately that never faded throughout the week! The staff was not as friendly as expected, with the exception of a handful who did go out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The food both in the buffet and the formal dining rooms was only "acceptable". Not once did we receive a "hot" meal, but more like "lukewarm". However, the pizza parlor and grill were exceptionally delicious and fresh (most likely because they make the food as it's ordered). We enjoyed the Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway ports but were disappointed with the Victoria port. We arrived 30 minutes before dark and left approximately 4 hours later...not much you can see or do in that time frame so we felt it was a total waste! On a positive note, the bed and bedding were stupendous - best part of the ship in my opinion. Read Less

Overall a nice experience. Great cabin, balcony was well used and steward was perfect. Food was not up to other Princess ships I've been on but service was wonderful. I should clarify, Horizon Court Buffet at times reminded me of college dorm fare. Shows were very good. The most annoying thing was the constant announcements of sales. Yes, they have to make a profit but sometimes it's the little things that make a customer feel special. It was exciting to receive a packet in the post with documents, luggage tags and great expectations of an upcoming adventure. Now you have to print yourself documents etc etc. Nice touch at the end of the cruise was the airlines luggage program. Bags whisked away not to be touched again until you land at your home airport. Note the Star is getting a bit long in the tooth. Showing some age, it gets hard to maintain a ship after 15 years of service. Read Less

Overall we had a wonderful time. I looked forward to the captain's greetings which always ended with "bye-bye". We purchased the steak and lobster balcony dinner, however this being our first cruise we thought you would dine on a special balcony of the ship. Not so, you are supposed to have a balcony room for this feature (they really should include that in the ad) so we asked the dining staff how we could amend this and they rose to the occasion. We had our own private waiters, James and Nino, who set us up at table on the aft balcony of the ship and dusk. They kept our champagne glasses filled, they took photos for us and even shelled our lobster. They provided us with a night of amazing memories. Alan, our cabin steward was also amazing. The first day he knew our names and always greeted us with a smile, even took a moment to ask about our excursions or our experience. He made us feel like family, not guests. Read Less

Celebrating 65th Birthday with an amazing cruise to Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. We started in Seattle with a tour of Mt. Rainier which was lovely. Perfect weather in Seattle. Embarkation was easy, efficient and smooth. We were in our balcony cabin shortly after boarding, unpacked and joined the sail away celebration. Star Princess was beautiful. Dining in all the venues was delicious and plentiful, our favorite was Crab Shack and The Crown Grill, The buffet was delicious and plentiful with lots of seating. We never had a problem finding something to eat and somewhere to sit. The coffee in the buffet was very good. Our cabin steward William was attentive and responsive to our needs and requests. The entertainment on board was fun and just right, including the enrichment series. Very informative about sea life and the bounty of Alaska. The shore excursions were perfect, we enjoyed each activity in each Port. The Alaska Rainforest and Raptor Center where we saw Sitka the Bald Eagle was just amazing. Whale Watching and Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau was simply breathtaking and we got to see many whales, including Orca’s up close. The Skagway White Pass Railroad was absolutely beautiful. Victoria is a beautiful City and we enjoyed our chocolate experience at Roger’s Chocolates. The weather the first week of September was beautiful, with the only exception being the fog that caused us to not be able to sail into the Tracy Arm Fjord, Service onboard the Star Princess was top notch with friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely love to do another Alaska Cruise and love Princess Cruises. Can’t wait for the next Princess Cruise adventure. I highly recommend this Star Princes Alaska Cruise. Read Less

It was arranged by a local bus tour company and it was a dream of mine. My husband and I decided that life is too short to sit around waiting for the lottery. The ship was awesome and our cabin was comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The dining was an experience in different tastes and an awesome and overwhelming journey. It was prepared well and it allowed us to experience different foods i.e. ate escargots for the first time and they were delicious. Anyone who said they were bored just were not taking advantage of what was available from bingo, bible study, casino, crafts, exercise, comedy acts and Broadway acts, etc. We also went on shore excursions in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway and they were all fun in their own way, Saw a good deal of country, spoke with many people and it was truly an awesome experience. The steward, Reinir was just a lovely individual who worked hard but was very genuine in his dealings with us. No phoniness about him. He was very good at giving us advice and directions about things on the ship and what was available. In the dining room we had Rhoderick and he guided us in an adventure in dining. Ate a variety of meals and they were second to no one. The chefs knew their way around a kitchen and the blends of flavours they used were out of this world. We ended our cruise in Seattle but prior to that we were in Victoria BC Canada. We arrived at 7 PM PST and it was beginning to darken soon after we embarked on a shuttle bus and we walked to Chinatown. If we had arrived at 4 PM the excursions others had taken would have been enjoyed a bit longer because the main complaint from others was they couldn't see anything because of the lack of light. ALL IN ALL for hubby and I it was a tremendous experience. The weather at times was abysmal but it's September in Alaska,,,rain and fog were a chance we took and we did not get to the TRACY fjord due to the dense thick fog and that was disappointing but safety was a factor and I am glad the Captain went on the side of safety. We chose this cruise because of the rates, itinerary and because it left from and returned to Seattle. I was told by friends that the food was mediocre so we were prepared. We weren’t surprised, the food was mediocre. However, the crew was very friendly and accommodating. The ship was clean and inviting. The best parts were the ports, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria. We saw salmon jumping and seals eating them in Ketchikan. We also ate at Alaska Fish House, very good! In Juneau we ate King Crab at Tracy’s King Crab Shack and used Alaska Tales for seeing Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching...highly recommend! In Skagway we ate at Skagway Brewery and had a Princess excursion to see White Pass Summit and it was breathtaking. We didn’t see much of Victoria because dock time was between 7pm and midnight. Tracy Arm Fjord was amazing! The ship turned 360 for a while so everyone could see all of the gorgeous scenery. It was a highlight of the cruise. Overall, we had a fabulous time. Prior to the cruise start we stayed at Silver Cloud Inn on Lake Union in Seattle. A great location with free shuttle service to Pike Place Market. We took a walk around part of the lake to look at the iconic Seattle houseboats before embarking. I highly recommend it! Read Less

We have always gone Cruising to warm water but so many people said how great the Alaska Cruise is. Why? We couldn't walk the deck while out to sea or use the balcony. It's too cold. They didn't serve any local Alaskan dishes onboard. Only Alaskan inspired European dishes that were more European than Alaskan. (even the baked Alaska) We couldn't afford the excursions that cost $$$$ hundreds of dollars more per person than on warm water destinations. There are only two kinds of shops in the towns, jewelry shops and souvenir shops with the same stuff. Didn't get to see any glaciers or wildlife other than salmon in the river at Ketchican. It just was not a value to me. I would rather sit on a warm beach and snorkel in warm water for the money. The only highlight was some of the entertainment. See you on the warm beaches from now on, I learned my lesson. Read Less

Because we wanted to visit Alaska for the first time, cruise was nice but I would definitely switch Anchorage or Sitka for Victoria, we arrived at 7 PM and left at 11:30 PM, it was dark and not a chance to visit anything. Another Alaskan port wouod be way better and less expensive excursion too, $130 train trip to nowhere and could not go down, beautiful scenery but poor excursion, but anyway me and my wife were looking for relax and that's what we've found, but I will definitely go back to Alaska again with a different itinerary if possible. Stateroom service was excellent, food quality in the cruise standards, staff very friendly, some services could be handle better, like make a call to find a different flight or arrange a pick up. We had an open dining and was the best choice, we usually don't eat very early as we like to enjoy the onboard entertainments. Overall Princess is the best cruise line in a matter of service and quality of the ships, unfortunately we cannot change the quality of the people ( passengers) lots of them rude, grumpy and with bad habit like fill a plate full of food and then leave half of it, waste waste waste or touch the food and place it back at rhe buffet,...disgusting and maybe they did not even wash their hands. What really made me upset was that on formal nights lots of people were dressing like they go to the beach!!!! Formal night....it is FORMAL....use a dress/ suit it's an occasion to dress nicely once in a while but some don't get it..... Read Less

First time cruiser. did not explore the ship history. i dependented on my travel agent. the cabin was okay, the bed was very soft, but the room was very hot. the food was just awful and was served over and over again. I was looking forward to having crabs, but we had crabs only one night and a very small amount. I have never seem king crabs legs so small. i had to keep asking the housekeeper for towels and we never got soap. i don't think he ever change the sheets on our beds. but i did give him a tip before leaving. i were so sick and tire of someone trying to sell me something. the entertainment was okay. The excursions that took us into canada to the supension bridge, and that was overprice, served lunch of half cooked chicken. coming back into america from canada, our border patrol did not come on board the bus to check any pass ports. canada border partrol did. i will not cruise on princess again, but may try another line, but will investigate and check reviews before booking. I think a lot of the people that work on these ships think it will be all fun for them, until they find out that they have to work hard. Read Less

The cruise fit our travel schedule and we picked the best weather for the week. Sunshine everyday. We had no issues with embarkation or disembarkation during our port stops. Dining in the dining rooms was better than the buffet but it depended on your schedule as to which one to use. We used both. We did not take the cruise because of the food selections so as long as it was nourishing, it was okay. Unless you are looking for jewelry or art, don't get caught up in the sales pitches, it takes away from your valuable time for both sailing and excursions. Entertainment was very good, enjoyed the theater shows. A little too breezy for watching movies under the stars but did enjoy the walks on deck. Cabin was spacious but air was not working properly and refrigerator got warm b/c of lack of ventilation. Recommend balcony rooms just because of the views and privacy. Stateroom steward was excellent and the front desk was very helpful. I would definitely go again if the opportunity presented itself. I wish we would have had more time in some of our ports. The excursions took a lot of the time away from just seeing the towns where we stopped, but they were all very good. The train ride in Skagway, the Mendenhall Glacier excursion in Juneau or the tours of Ketchican and Victoria, they were all terrific. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we had wanted to see Alaska for quite sometime and finally had the opportunity to take the trip. On boarding was fine. Of boarding for excursions was slow and getting off on the last day was also slow. Our excursions were fun. We did the hike and float in Skagway and the self guided jeep tour in Juneau. The ship was old and dated but clean. The vegetarian options were lacking. I lived off side dishes for lunch and dinner for all 7 days. The cruise director Gary was amazing, he was one of the highlights for sure. SherAnn in the dining areas was simply fantastic, a true spirit to serve associate. The quality of the dancers and singers was not great in a few of the shows. The piano bar singer played all the songs in the spirit of a barber shop quartet but was missing the quartet. The female singers in the UK show had some annoying vocal habits. We tried to avoid any further shows staring them~ We went to one karaoke night and it was super fun, the place was packed so it must be popular but they only did this twice and both times the show was so short only a few people could sing. Why not do them for a longer period of time due to popularity?? Read Less

I loved this cruise and almost everything went perfectly. This was my first ever cruise. The staff for the restaurants and serving, cleaning, etc. are mostly Filipino and they are the sweetest, kindest people you will ever meet. All of the dining was excellent from the buffet to the formal restaurants. Plenty of food choices and very high quality, equal to dining out in a fine restaurant back home. I loved their breads. I couldn't get enough of it. We were fortunate enough to get a cabin for disabled passengers just by luck, and it was rather roomy and nice. Clean, comfortable, but most of all, very quiet. You cannot hear anything at all coming from neighbors. The cruise was sold out so I know there were people in the neighboring cabins. Very nice HD TV and a small refrigerator. The queen size bed was actually made up of two smaller mattresses placed side by side, so during the night they would often separate. The public areas are very clean and comfortable. I thought the best entertainment was actually the small intimate gatherings in the ship center on deck 7, or in the bars. I loved the "Consonance Duo". The formal shows were ok but "Born to Dance" was the best show by far, and the comedian "Noodles" was great too. The Magician was good but he's tries to hard to be a comedian. This all being said, I would like to offer a few items that were lacking. They push shopping very hard, especially in the jewelry store, EFFY. It is seriously overpriced. If you wait for the shore stops, you will find the same jewelry discounted from the ship at least 60%. They do place some nice deals out on deck 7 each day in all merchandise categories, those were pretty nice shopping for. Do yourself a favor and avoid the "Shopping Concierge". She pressures people to fill out jewelry surveys and tells people "don't shop in non approved Princess retailers on shore" which is totally ridiculous. She also likes to share the life story of the founder of EFFY jewelry like I would even care. The Spa services are also very expensive, but they are of high quality. I also had an unfortunate experience with the Acupuncture doctor, who pressured me quite bad about getting "a free consultation". When I said I wasn't interested, repeatedly, she actually got rather loud, nasty, and insulting. The stops in the ports were all very interesting, but unfortunately they spend too much time in Skagway, and too little time in Victoria. Victoria is a beautiful Canadian city with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and sights to see. Skagway is a tiny port town with a couple streets of pure tourist stores. I hope Princess considers dropping Skagway and making Victoria a full day. Activity updates and newsletters are great and delivered everyday. I do kind of wish they had more information on the Planetarium star watching activity. They had a signup time but no other information. Overall I would rate this cruise "Excellent" and would go on a Princess Cruise again. Read Less

This cruise was our 17th cruise and also our honeymoon cruise. Princess made us feel special - it was just amazing The embarkation was seamless, the stateroom was stunning, the ship was beautiful and well maintained. The food and service was second to none. Princess have 50 years experience in Alaska and it shows, everything went perfectly and we had the near perfect cruise. Club class dining was very nice with excellent restaurant staff who were very attentive. Speciality restaurants were also great, although the Sabitini's menu has been adapted to suit the US guest pallette more than the European and as a result the menu is a little unusual for an Italian inspired restaurant. Crown Grill never disappoints, steaks always cooked to perfection, everytime. Bars and entertainment were excellent, there was great variety in the theatre and lounge performers. We also had 'Puppies in the Piazza' which was a great treat for the kids and the adults. We also chose Princess for our shore excursions. Their detail in the excursion was better and there was little or no difference in the excursion cost. We went to the Lumberjack show in Ketchican, which was was organised and entertaining. From there I did the Deadliest Catch experiance which again was a superb excursion. In Juneau we chose the dog sledding on the Mendenhall Glacier with the Helicopter ride there and back - Wow what a superb experiance. We couldnt go to Skagway without having a trip on the White Pass and Yukon Railway which was well worth th fare, the train ride, narration on board and the scenery were just amazing The only tiny detail that was not quite up to scratch was the condition of the thermal area in the Spa, it badly needs refurbished and is currently looking very tired and worn out. We had 3 days pre cruise scheduled for exploring Seattle which was great because our outbound flight was cancelled and we, in fact lost a day getting to Seattle. Seattle is a lovely city with great attractions all within walking distance. If you are flying long haul, always plan to get to your embarcation port at least one day before your cruise. Read Less

Our 6/16/2019 - 6/23/2019 Alaskan cruise on the Star Princess was one of the most horrible cruising experiences we had encountered.  We wanted to celebrate our anniversary and my son’s honeymoon on your Princess Cruise and booked three cabins.  We booked an Alaskan cruise specifically to see the glaciers and to visit BC Canada.   First of all, we were up and on the deck at 5am (per the itinerary) so that we could see the glaciers while passing through Tracy Arm.  After about a half an hour to an hour later we were told that we would not be able to pass through Tracy Arm and that we were going to Endicott instead.  Then we were told that if we looked through binoculars we could see the tip of a glacier.  Really?!? Needless to say we did not get to see any glaciers on this cruise. During the cruise, our toilets backed up twice.  According to some other cruise passengers they also had the same problem.  The next day the same problem occurred and a maintenance worker was sent to our cabin and again had to flush the main line.  My son’s and daughter’s cabins experienced the same toilet issues as did the other passengers along our corridor. Also, during the cruise there was a leak in the ceiling of my daughter’s cabin which occurred around 4:30 am which caused them to wake up to a wet bed and blankets.  Given the multiple situations we had with the toilets we were understandably concerned that it might have been associated with the sewer line issue but was assured that it was not a sewer line leak but was a ventilation leak.   Because my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary we received two gift certificates in our mail slot outside our cabin door.  One was for $25 to spend in the princess shops and one was for $50 towards a spa treatment on port days.  We used the $25 gift certificate at the Princess Vines Novelties gift shop.  At the end of our cruise we noticed that the gift certificate was not credited to our stateroom so I called the customer service desk and told them the problem.  They told me that they did not have any record of any gift certificate but that they do show the charges made at the Vines Novelties shop.  They asked me if I had the gift certificate and I informed them that the salesclerk said that he needed to submit it so that our stateroom could be credited and that he had the gift certificate.  They told me that because they do not reflect anything in their system they are unable to credit it.  Princess did not honor the gift certificate they gave us! As if all of the above was not enough to make this a terrible cruise, as we approached BC Canada we were informed that we would not be porting in BC Canada and would just anchor in place! Really?!? So during this Alaskan cruise with Princess we were not able to see any glaciers (Albeit if we looked through a pair of binoculars we may be able to see the tip of one); the toilets backed up twice; there was a ceiling leak in my daughter’s room; we were provided a gift certificate which was ultimately not honored; and we were not able to port in BC Canada!  Basically, the two main ports (attractions) associated with this cruise which were also the two main reasons for choosing this cruise were not provided for along with the other substantial frustrations mentioned above. I contacted Princess Cruise lines on 6/28/2019 regarding this horrible experience. They informed me that they will research the matter and a customer service representative would contact me soon. It has been almost a month and we when we finally heard back from a customer service representative from Princess Cruise line we were pretty much told that port cancellations are covered as acceptable in our contract and I guess the toilet back ups and ceiling leaks are as well. This is indicative of the type of service you can expect from Princess Cruises! My family loves cruises but we will be choosing a different cruise line for our future cruises! Read Less

But was very disappointed in our short stay in Victoria, but my fault for not reading the itinerary time at port and was also shortened because of time for us clearing customs. Wish the dinning room menu had a much better selection after being on over 10 cruises this one had the least amount of choices . And some of my other cruise was Princess. Our dining room staff was wonderful. As all the other employees of Princess. Excellent embarkation and debarkation. Fastest we ever had. Used the flight program where we placed our luggage outside our room and didn’t not have to deal with them again till our final destination. A great feature that is now offered. The selection, taste, temperature ... everything. We finally ended up having breakfast and lunch also in the dining room because it was just slightly better. There was no variety at the buffet and the choices they did have were so far off from anything you could call “normal” Service was excellent at all bars and food places. And man.. embarkation was the easiest of the cruises we have taken. The only disembarkation that was a little “off was in Canada but that was it. I did not like not signing for purchases anymore. You just order stuff and they swipe your card. No receipt anymore. The singers and dancers were excellent. We went to every show. My husband and I loved the Alaska ports and the sea days. The staff and crew were very accommodating. The food was very good, also. We enjoyed the entertainment and lectures about Alaska. The highlight of our cruise was our vow renewal with Captain Tuvo. Our cabin was nice and Madee our steward did an excellent job. We found embarkation to be a complicated process. One thing princess could improve on is to have more of a variety of food in the Horizon Buffet. It was good but not much of a variety. Also, it takes too long from start to finish in the main dining room to eat. The different kind of music that was played around the ship was pleasant. Matt Baxter, the guitar player and vocalist, was fantastic. This was our first cruise with Princess and we would most likely sail with them again. Debarkation was much easier than Embarkation. It would be great if karaoke was offered every day. Read Less

South America Santiago, Chile March 14, 2019 to Los Angeles, March 30, 2019) appealed to my wife and I. We enjoyed Chile (Santiago and Coquimbo), Peru (San Martin and Lima) and Costa Rica (Puntarenas), less so Nicaragua (San Juan del Sur), that was rushed and felt a little unsafe, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that was a free day to unwind. We chose eZAir for our flight (13 hours) from LA four days earlier and the only regret was not arranging our departure from Phoenix via LA/Santiago. The Star Princess was a welcome relief after a disastrous inaugural repositioning cruise with MSC Seaside. We have been on the Emerald Princess a number of times, so the Star Princess, a sister ship, was very familiar and a welcome relief. A few glitches arose such as the 5:15 PM supper start; 6:00 PM is much better and definitely preferred. Entertainment and food selection at Supper seemed to be slightly less diverse then previously but was vastly better than my previous encounter on the Seaside. Food would rate a 4/5. Dining, cabin, bar and general services were exemplary and would rate 4/5. The one exception was the staff member at the Captain's Circle Counter who was not courteous when I spoke to her rather somewhat short/rude. Entertainment was good (3.5/5), especially the stage productions, but overall slightly more muted (comedy, rock bands, classical music, etc.) than my last Princess cruise from Rome to Ft Lauderdale. Most of our shore excursions were private as there are no guarantees with Princess and we get, more for less. Most of these I will review through Trip Adviser. Overall this cruise provided some healing from past cruises and new friends. We will once again return in 2021 for a 31 day fall cruise via Vancouver to Sydney, Australia. Read Less

We arrived in Buenos Aires 3 days before setting sail which gave us ample time to enjoy this fascinating city. We stayed in a very lovely little hotel in Palermo Soho. The location turned out to be quite a distance from the city centre, but the inexpensive cost of taxis made the trip downtown less of an annoyance. Take some time to spend in Buenos Aires if you haven't been there before. It's multi faceted and interesting. On the day we embarked the ship, traffic from downtown to the pier was absolutely painful. We finally got there and were very quickly processed and boarded Star Princess in no time. Although the ship is by no means new, it has been kept in good repair and provides an attractive, elegent environment for the 14 day cruise. I am continually surprised by the nit picking that some reviewers use to criticize any minor issues that they encounter aboard ship. Their lives on land must be absolutely perfect. Our cabin, B621, inside, was tight but had ample storage space. The shower was a bit of a joke in size. The most amazing thing about our cabin and about all Princess cabins was the absolute luxury of the bed and bedding. Kudos to Princess!! Service aboard the Star was extremely good everywhere. We purchased the Coffee Card and bottled water prior to leaving home. Both good moves. We tried Sabattinis and the Crown Grill. Liked them both. Wonderful service in both. Food in the main dining room on the other 12 nights was good if not exceptional. But if you have 12 restaurant meals at home will you have 12 exceptional meals? It's the service in the main restaurant that makes a less stellar meal feel quite acceptable. And they were able to handle anytime dining quite efficiently with very little wait especially if you were prepared to share a table with others (we were). Activities during the day were sparse, but a big thank you to Princess for providing the equipment for duplicate bridge and a bigger thank you to the individuals who organized the games. 2.5 afternoon hours nicely spent. Evening entertainment was good. Enjoyed the commedian and singers. Almost forgot to praise the port speaker who was both very informative and extremely humerous. Played to a full house in the Princess theatre each time he spoke. Ports great and varried. When in Puerto Mott, go to Puerto Veras. You might think this lakeside town is in Switzerland. Ended up in San Antonio and took the public bus to downtown to Santiago. Comfortable and cost effective. Did not take any ship tours. Absolutely loved Santiago. Spend some time in this glamerous safe city. Read Less

As we really like South America, and despite having done the same cruise on the same ship in reverse 6 years ago, we wanted to do it again. We spent a couple of days in Santiago to get over the 14 hour flight from the UK, where it was very hot (Santiago that is) but interesting. Ships now dock at San Antonio rather than Valparaiso, so it was a long drive to the port, however once there, embarkation was done and dusted within 20 minutes of arriving, our cabin was ready and all our luggage had arrived well before the lifeboat drill. We had a balcony cabin on the port side towards the rear, figuring most land throughout the voyage would be visible to us. The room was functional, and the walk-in wardrobes on Princess ships are a really good idea. There was plenty of drawer space and shelves too. The bathroom still has an annoying plastic curtain on the shower and was rather small. We didn't spend much time on the balcony on sea days due to the weather. Virtually all the sea days saw winds of Force 6 or above and some choppy seas, however there was little movement of the ship though it gave added fun to the line dancing classes. Thankfully every port day had lovely sunny weather even Punta Arenas. However, due to the poor weather forecast, the Captain decided he couldn't risk using the tenders so we did some scenic crusing in daylight through the Magellan Strait. The forecast was poor again for the passage of Cape Horn but when we awoke in the morning, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the seas were very calm. The forecast storm came later in the day but had subsided once again by the time we reached the Falklands. We didn't manage to get in the theatre for any of the shows as we either timed dinner wrong, or the theatre was full. The game shows put on by the entertainment team were very funny and usually well attended and the musicians throughout the lounges were of a decent standard. The food in the buffet was very good and varied and we never struggled to find a seat, though sometimes we did go into the covered pool area to eat. In the evenng we were on anytime dining and as long as we were happy to share then there was no waiting to be seated. The food itself was good but the size of the lobster tail was very disappointing, for future reference you need to order three of them to at least try and feel as though you've eaten something! We took ship excursions in all ports, repeating a couple from our previous cruise because we knew they were so good. I find on Princess excursions, if there's food involved, there is always plenty of it, the train / winery tour in Montevideo had so much we could hardly eat breakfast the next day. All the staff throughout the ship were friendly and efficient. The girls in the lounge new my name and card number by the second night. The cabin steward was unobtrusive, but always around when we needed him and always happy to have a chat. Disembarkation was a quick as embarking. We were staying in Buenos Aires after the cruise, so could pick our time to leave, and were called within 5 minutes of it. There were no immigration checks throughout the cruise as the ship keep your passports and doall the work. That meantallowed people to leave the ship within 15 minutes of tying up in any port. Apart from the cost of the alcohol, I can't think of anything else that was particularly annoying, but Princess are no different to other lines i've been with in that respect. I thought about the drinks package but that wasn't good value for the amount I usually drink. I'll certainly be sailing with Princess again, hopefuly in the not too distant future. Read Less

We love cruising round trip from LA (no flying!) and Hawaii is one of our favorite destinations. What made this cruise even sweeter is that we were meeting up with a British couple we had made friends with on a cruise five years ago. The food was excellent, although many special dishes from the past (e.g., rack of lamb) have disappeared. Also, the traditional coffee card is no longer usable on subsequent cruises, which significantly reduces its value. The entertainment on Princess is probably the best in the industry, especially since Steven Schwartz begain creating shows for them. "Born to Dance" is our favorite; we stayed to see it twice on two separate cruises. Fernando, the Cruise Director was outstanding, and the Captain was an approachable and unforgettable character who ended every announcement with "but nevertheless, by-by." Our room steward, Russell, was always there with whatever we needed. The cruise loses a star only due to the uncomfortable cabin that was assigned to us (see below). Read Less

Enjoy the days at sea, relax, read , work out in the gym. HAWAII !! We wore our disco outfits to the deck party, we did the twist on rock n 'roll party,, played "bang bang" on Western Night, had photos taken with Steve Moris, Leo Rossi, Steve Diggs, and with the Captain, Cruise Director and his staff our waiters. Wore our matching outfits in the evening, participated in formal nights....and once again my wife was "one away" from winning the final BINGO game in the Vista Lounge !! Just when you think cruising can not get better.....it does ! We advise future Princess Cruisers to plan for theme nights by bringing western attire, 50's clothing, and disco outfits for the deck party. Attend the lectures, be prepared to be entertained by first class entertainers, and view well done Production Shows. Embrace it, participate and immerse your self in the experience. And do not forget the chocolate. We are still posting photos to our friends, and to Princess.. Read Less

My wife gave us this cruise for my 50th Birthday. Unfortunately it was the worst cruise we have ever been on. The food was awful at The steak house and buffet. The staff didn’t know what was going on regarding several issues. The bed was too soft. Rules not followed by staff not to mention the staff did not seem happy to be there in many places on the ship. The Italian restaurant and wait staff was excellent along with the Lotus Spa and the treatment staff. We spoke with several other passengers that were unhappy also including our friends that we paid for their way on board to help us celebrate. We go on a cruise to be pampered but that sure didn’t happen on this cruise. It was my first and last Princess Line cruise. The ship was supposedly updated or refurbished November 2017 but is sure didn’t look like it. Read Less
