Caribbean Cruise on Star Pride after the Stretch
"We have been fortunate to have cruised on every type of cruise ship (big, medium, and very small) and cruise line from luxury to very economical (Sea Dream Yacht Club, Regent, Oceania, Star Clippers, Costa, Princess, HAL, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival etc.In Jost Van Dyke, we spent most of our time at the first little beach on White Bay and then headed over to the soggy dollar bar...."Read More

Panama Canal Crossing

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Star Pride

My very first cruise ever was in 2007 on Carnival that included an excursion of partial transfer of Panama Canal. Always wanted to do total crossing and Windstar had a reduced single supplement so figured March 2 would be a good time as I had trips scheduled for December, January, and February so March was booked. I could find very little information on this cruise so even though this was last ...

We're novice cruisers and made some mistakes. The ship is very nice and comfortable. Plenty of pleasant places to park yourself... on the deck, in the library, etc. The entertainment was better than we expected for such a small ship... the entertainment director ("PJ") was great, the hotel director (Andreas) was practically a stand-up comic, and there was a musical duo and a small band with a ...

We chose this cruise on the Star Pride because the itinerary included some of our favorite Caribbean islands (leaving and returning from San Juan): St. Thomas, St. Barths, Montserrat, St. Martin, Jost Van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda (Prickly Pear Island). Unfortunately, our cruise missed Montserrat and St. Martin due to weather which was frustrating. Embarkation and disembarkation in San Juan was ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Star Pride

We got an offer from WS for the Eastbound TA as a prior cruiser and it truly was an offer we couldn't refuse. We had always wanted to try the power yachts (or as someone I know calls them "baby Seaborns" since the boats used to be owned by SB). We opted for a BS1 on Deck 5. Up front let me state that we have already booked the same crossing for next year in the same cabin - we loved it that ...

We wanted to try a transAtlantic cruise and the 13-day trip from San Juan to Lisbon seemed perfect. We had delightful weather the first 10 days, interesting weather the last three. Our bad that we didn't realize that the trip was as much for maintenance as for our pleasure, so we can't complain that deck crews were occasionally in the way of outside activities. The cuisine was perfect. The wine ...

This was our first small ship cruise, and we enjoyed it. The onboard experience was excellent. However, I’m not sure I would book another cruise on Windstar, due to the multiple frustrations of dealing with their business unit. The cruise itself was great. We loved the spacious cabin, with the biggest bathroom we’ve ever had on a cruise ship — double sinks even! The walk-in closet was great for ...

Prior to this cruise I had taken maybe a dozen Caribbean cruises. I chose this cruise primarily because I had never visited its five ports of calls and secondarily because I thought that it would be a step up from the norm in terms of luxury. Following Hurricane Maria, Windstar changed the first two ports of call. In exchange, however, they agreed to upgrade my room one category from S1 to S2 and ...

We use cruise ship repositioning trips to avoid air travel rather than for a "cruise" vacation. This was the first time we have crossed the Atlantic on a small ship, previously we have used Holland America and Celebrity and were interested in the differences. Ship, The Star Pride is a fairly old but well maintained ship formally run by a luxury line, this showed in the cabin size, layout and ...
