Observations from a long-time Crystal Cruises guest
"The package basically gets you open bar throughout the ship and 35± wines; no signing bar chits or receipts; the bar staff knows you are on “the package” by the second day onboard. It is officially “open seating”, but once you discover a preferred service-team, the maitre’d will generally hold your table for the entire cruise...."Read More

Extraordinary, Says It All

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Star Pride

We chose this cruise as a 50 th wedding anniversary for these reasons: Greenland, a new, fascinating location, Newfoundland, land where my mother was born and my first visit, and my husband and I love the province of Québec and the St. Lawrence and have had great travel experiences there. This was an extraordinary cruise by Windstar. The places visited were a great interest and love for us, ...

NORTHERN LIGHTS & ICEBERGS & FJORDS (and Covid)

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Star Pride

We chose this cruise for Iceland and Greenland. Plus Canada. We circumvented Iceland and saw some highlights however in hindsight we should have joined the pre land cruise to see blue lagoon and the loop road. The excursions were a long ride from the port and the ports were middle of no where….yes that’s Iceland. The weather typical for region. Rain, winds then sun! ***NORTHERN ...

My wife and I recently enjoyed a cruise on the Windstar’s Star Pride. We had traveled on board the Seabourn Pride many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Let me make something quite clear, I did not expect Seabourn’s standards of service and cuisine on board the Star Pride. (See footnote for an amusing bit of Seabourn history.) They are different cruise lines and work to ...

Background • Over 600+ days cruising with Crystal Cruises from 1994 through February 2020. • Last cruised Windstar Cruises on the sailing yachts WindSong in 1993 and WindSpirit in 1995 when under previous HAL ownership. • Never sailed Star Pride under its previous incarnations as Seaborne Pride or as Star Pride prior to its “stretching”, so we have nothing to compare its previous ...

Fabulous vacation - again!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Star Pride

We are long time Windstar cruisers. We have been on 15 plus cruises over 25 years. We have been through several owners and have been on almost all the ships. The quality of everything ebbs and flows but the consistently fabulous, warm and friendly crew keeps us coming back. This particular cruise was a standout. So many things have improved....the food was better than usual and in some cases ...

Disappointing Windstar

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Star Pride

We chose this cruise on recommendation from our travel agent. We flew to lovely Lisbon a few days beforehand, the joined the ship, looking very tiny berthed near some very large cruise ships. The welcome was decidedly perfunctory, and we found our way to our deck 4 cabin. It was pleasantly large, but definitely needed a good spring clean. The bed seemed hard and sagging, not a good start we felt. ...

Windstar makes you feel so welcome

Lisbon to Dublin seemed like an interesting itinerary so we booked a mid-ship stateroom. We had cruised on Star Pride's Inaugural sailing and prior to that when it was a Seabourn ship. The cabins are spacious albeit somewhat dated now. The ship is compact. Two staircases so you gain a sense of where everything is quite quickly. The main restaurant is deck 3 and the Veranda (self ...

Circumnavigating Iceland on the Star Pride

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Star Pride

The Star Pride is relatively small (abt 250) with everything scaled down to that size. Service was competent & friendly & more than sufficient to handle the guests efficiently. With all of the well publicized problems with virus transmission aboard ship, one would have expected a staff more focused on this issue. Although there were hand sanitizer stations available on the ship (e.g. outside of ...

Aging Star Pride

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Star Pride

I can sum up the Star Pride, in a few words, barely adequate. Not a very high mark for a line that charges luxury prices. After 36 days on her, it’s more like Star Rust Bucket. The number of things that have gone amiss is quite long. To put this review in perspective I am not a princess type and I certainly do not expect complete perfection. Too start off, a promised cruise credit of $2400, ...

Luxurious, Comfortable, plus Some Annoyances

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Star Pride

User Avatar

This was a trip circumnavigating Iceland, which was a very good way to see more remote parts of the country. Cabins very comfortable with plenty of closet, drawer, and shelf space and cabin service was excellent. I was disappointed that the shower in my cabin was over a bathtub, making it very difficult to get in and out of the shower. Bathtubs on ships don't make a lot of sense to me. And the ...
