Satisfactory skim of coastal Iceland
"(They had to hold BBQ lunch for us because one person slipped and fell on the strenuous ship-excursion hike. This is part of the reason I rented a car from Avis, because their Downtown office was exactly one mile from the ship’s Embarcation...."Read More

It’s not the purpose of this newsboard to compare cruising with independent land travel. But there was little overlap between our 4-nights with a car rental in Eastern Iceland, and our 7-nights “Around Iceland.” I’m saying that the excellent sights of the Southern Coast and the Golden Circle were completely out of reach of our ports. Our last port, Grundarfjordur, did provide excellent access to ...

Windstar offers an outstanding cruise. The crew and staff, in particular, were friendly and accommodating. The captain was capable and comforting. Our cabin was comfortable and had a large window. The food was spectacular and varied (except Candles). Room service offered and delivered with no questions asked. Internet was quite difficult to access and was very expensive. Laundry charge high ...

This was the first cruise of a pair of b2b cruises from Lisbon to Barcelona. We did our own air, pre-cruise hotel stay in Lisbon, and transfers. Booked transfer from Pedro at Lisbon Taxis. We have used him on other trips. As usual, our ride was waiting for us. In Lisbon we stayed at the Bessahotel. It was fantastic. Great central location, gorgeous rooms, nice breakfast, free wifi, and great ...

Wonderful Despite A Rocky Start

We chose this cruise for the Sicilian Splendors itinerary which also included Sorrento and Capri. We left several days early to stay in Positano and explore the Amalfi Coast prior to the cruise, then ended up with a day in Rome before returning home. We had a less than ideal experience on the Legend last year as one of the first few journeys with Windstar, and are happy to report a 180 degree ...

Star Legend in Europe for 16 Days

This is our first sailing on Windstar Cruises - we chose the Star Legen - a 212 passenger vessel previously owned by Seabourne - the renovations are great - all staterooms are oceanview large suites - a few with balconies. These are not typical balconies - the door slides open and lead to a French Balcoony - we loved it - you are seated on comfortable chairs and a sofa - (not plastic or ...

A good Windstar experience in Iceland

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Star Legend

Did a circumnavigation of Iceland. Ship was in very good condition, considering its age (but it did have a refurb last May). A few minor things could have been better, tho. Liked our window stateroom - at 277 sq. ft, it was large for a very small ship. Everything in good working order. Asked for feather pillows, and our room steward got them for me. Food, for the most part, was very good. My ...

Top notch staff, very good itinerary

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Star Legend

We chose this cruise based upon the itinerary which started in Lisbon, ended in Barcelona, and included ports we were very interested in. It was our first time on Windstar and we had not chosen the line before they purchased the Seabourne ships because we believed the staterooms on the sailing ships would be quite small. We've stayed in larger rooms than those on Star Legend but none that were ...

My husband and I traveled to Rome from California, we had arranged transportation to the Hotel Golden and found ourselves greeted by the Loria family which we found to be a true delight and a place we hope to return to some day. We highly recommend this small quaint family owned and run hotel. Great location and an excellent, scrumptious home cooked breakfast each morning. We arrived at the ...

We decided to take in a cruise that also allowed for a few days in Iceland and with this in mind we traveled to Reykjavik a few days beforehand. Given the weather however this was with hindsight not the best decision! It was raining and windy and not an auspicious start when we embarked the Star Legend which was berthed essentially right near the heart of Reykjavik and we were able to walk ...
