Satisfactory skim of coastal Iceland
"(They had to hold BBQ lunch for us because one person slipped and fell on the strenuous ship-excursion hike. This is part of the reason I rented a car from Avis, because their Downtown office was exactly one mile from the ship’s Embarcation...."Read More

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Star Legend

It’s not the purpose of this newsboard to compare cruising with independent land travel. But there was little overlap between our 4-nights with a car rental in Eastern Iceland, and our 7-nights “Around Iceland.” I’m saying that the excellent sights of the Southern Coast and the Golden Circle were completely out of reach of our ports. Our last port, Grundarfjordur, did provide excellent access to ...

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and small ship size and we were not disappointed! We were aboard for 3 segments: Comprehensive Indonesia, Borneo and Philippines and Icons of S.E. Asia (Vietnam), all of which gave us an insight into the culture and beauty of the various ports and countries. We were fortunate to be in Vietnam during Tet (Chinese New Year) so we got to partake in many ...

Comprehensive China Exploration, Back2Back with Pop Kings

"Comprehensive China Exploration" Beijing to Hong Kong or reverse The title suggest that there is more “China” than there was, even before one port was deleted. But we certainly hit a lot of countries on the trip. (Note that you should get the 10-year “Multi-Entry” visa from China if you go on such a trip. It costs the same as a “Single-Entry” visa, and uses the same annoying application form.) ...

Great ship, especially the cabin size.

Wanted a smaller, less crowded ship, as we are not fans of the 3000 person ships. This had an itinerary that was heavy in ports with many overnight stays in bigger cities. We do not prefer so many "at sea" days. The smaller ship has less amenities, so "at sea" days are not as enjoyable. This smaller ship was able to dock closer the many of the downtown areas, since it could navigate the ...

Pop Culture Kings of Asia, Windstar at its best

Our cruise departed from Tokyo in October, 2018, from the Harumi Port. If you're a fanatic about avoiding cab rides, we took the subway from our independent Shinjuku-area Hilton's Tochomae Station (E28, Oeda line), a 30 minute ride to Kachidoki Station (E17.) Crossing the street (depending on which exit you use), you have to determine (say, with Google Maps) the correct direction for the 03 or ...

Nice cruise with a few glitches

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Star Legend

Chose this cruise because it called at most of the usual Alaskan ports plus a number that are not visited by larger ships. We have sailed with Windstar before and found the small ship size to be desirable. The ship itself is in good condition and well maintained. Our cabin was a higher cost cabin(classic suite) which was more costly and spacious than most of the cabins on board. It also ...

Recently back from this 14 night cruise via Phillipines, Borneo and Brunei. Overall a very good trip. This is our second cruise with Windstar, and they certainly run a quality operation. The whole crew are friendly and helpful, and you are greeted by name within few days. Lovely cabins, we had a balcony suite, which was spacious, and well appointed, and it was lovely to be able to see the ...

Windstar offers an outstanding cruise. The crew and staff, in particular, were friendly and accommodating. The captain was capable and comforting. Our cabin was comfortable and had a large window. The food was spectacular and varied (except Candles). Room service offered and delivered with no questions asked. Internet was quite difficult to access and was very expensive. Laundry charge high ...

This was the first cruise of a pair of b2b cruises from Lisbon to Barcelona. We did our own air, pre-cruise hotel stay in Lisbon, and transfers. Booked transfer from Pedro at Lisbon Taxis. We have used him on other trips. As usual, our ride was waiting for us. In Lisbon we stayed at the Bessahotel. It was fantastic. Great central location, gorgeous rooms, nice breakfast, free wifi, and great ...
