This was one of the greatest sails we have ever had. Twelve days of being pampered and taken care of and sailing south bound from St Lucia and ending in Grenada. The crew consisted of Captain, Engineer, Chef, Steward and Bosun. Each and every one of them went out of their way 100 percent of the time to ensure that every passenger was accommodated in every way. Unbelievably fantastic level of service!! The food was excellent and plentiful. The Chef baked all his own breads and cakes and deserts!! The presentation was award winning. All of this was prepared in the tiniest of galleys. Amazing!! All this great food plus all the beer and wine and soda you wanted seven by twenty four. They encourage you to bring your own hard liquor, so there is no huge bar bill at the end of the sail. We stopped at many islands along the way to snorkel and hike and just hit the beaches .................. some of the best in the Caribbean!! I have already booked my next sail, cannot wait to go back! Read Less

I have been home for 3 days but my heart is still on the beautiful Windjammer Diamant. I will never ever forget this amazing trip from St. Lucia to Granada. I could have never imagined how very well I would be treated. The Captain Phillip and Captain in training, Andrew were the most professional seamen and also amazing humanitarians. All of the crew were the finest you could ever expect on any cruise. We visited beautiful private islands we snorkeled...swam with sea turtles, swam and played by the ship, hiked and whatever we dreamed....our Captain made it happen. My captain even made a great effort to help me discover sea glass. The sails being raised, the beautiful turquoise water, rainbows many days, delicious smells coming from the kitchen of our amazing chef.....I am at a loss for words. If you want that small...10 people...personal experience then this is the trip to take. Not a tourist trap but a special opportunity to connect with nature, reflect and have adventures you could never imagine. This was a life changing adventure for me and I hope others will grasp this amazing opportunity. Read Less

What a great time - one of the two best weeks of my life (the other was the preceding week on Island Windjammers Vela). Sailing Diamant was a last minute change as I had originally been scheduled to sail Vela on back-to-back 6-night trips. But Vela was taken out of service for a brief time and I ended up with the best of everything - two sailing trips on two different ships, with two different crews, two different sets of guests, and two different sets of islands. The two weeks were different from each other, but both were BRILLIANT! The Captain and crew were welcoming, knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, funny and willing to do whatever to make the ship's guests comfortable and entertained. I have never experienced a more accommodating group of people than the Captain and crew of Diamant. I have some knowledge and appreciation for what is required to take a group of diverse individuals and mold them into a team/crew that all pull in the same direction - Windjammers succeeds admirably. I had never sailed or cruised before (excepting the previous week on Vela), but this far exceeded every hope/expectation that I had. Opportunities were provided everyday to snorkle, sit on a beach, jump off the boat, rope swing, or just chill. At every anchorage/mooring we were advised of the highlights of the area and recommendations were made on things to checkout. SO MUCH FUN!!! Three multi-course meals and a "snack" each day, and never the same meal twice. Always fresh cut fruit, soup/salad, great entree, and dessert. Plenty of choices of beverages. Oh yeah, "snack" - consider that a fourth meal.... Hopefully you don't mind fresh baguettes and a selection of cheeses from the French ports, conch fritters with Caribbean chutney, freshly made plantain chips and the like. But for me the best part was the sailing - sails up every day. I don't know what I enjoyed more - sitting forward and watching the sunrise every morning - seeing the grey grey sea get tinged with gold before turning deep blue. Or sitting aft with the Captain or Mate long into the evening, telling stories, telling jokes, telling lies. I loved feeling the roll of the ship on the sea, the salt spray breaking over the bow, the fresh rain on my face, the warm Caribbean sun - I loved it all! I enjoyed every moment, devoured every morsel, and smile at every memory. The Captain and crew, the ship and the itinerary make the cruise. can't wait to go again! and go again I will!! Read Less

If your idea of vacation is dressing up for dinner and partying with a crowd, stop reading because Island Windjammer cruises won't be for you. If wearing shorts, a swim suit, and flip flops are your thing, read on. With a passenger total of 12, and a crew of 6 we could not have been more pampered aboard Diamant. Oh, we enjoyed fine dining...in fact at several stops our chef was spotted bagging baguettes or local fresh fruit for our meal, so that each dish was a taste of the Caribbean and we looked forward to every meal. Our refurbished tall ship (we had a/c in our cabin) could go places cruise ships cannot travel. My favorite stop had to be snorkeling with the turtles in Tobago Day Marine Park. We were often dropped on a private sunny beach with a cooler full of Carib beer and Ting with the choice of snorkeling or just relaxing on the sand. I swung from the deck of the ship on a rope swing, and I visited a bar built on a reef accessed by dingy only (Happy Island). The ship mostly motor sails, but if the winds were just right, we free sailed. The trip was too short, and I dream of being back on my favorite perch on deck with Bolo the steward bringing me my morning coffee (just the way I like it--he knows and remembers because we are so few). We LOVED the cruise. In fact, of our fellow sailors, all but one couple were repeat customers! From the fabulous service to the fantastic destinations, this trip was special. One needs to be able to board the dingy (crew helps) and it IS a sailing ship...take your Bonine (sea sick medicine)! Grenada is a terrific place to end the cruise and explore. Read Less

Diamant. What did I like best. So hard to say....good, fresh food, great crew, fantastic fellow passengers, incredible entertainment. Entertainment provided by the stars, the dolphins, turtles and crew. Incredible customer service from booking to disembarkation. From the start, while we were waiting to board, one of our nine co-passengers had forgotten her passport in the cab. We all waited and talked until Island Windjammer staff was was able to contact the cabdriver and have it returned. Did the remaining passengers complain? No way! That's the thing about Island Wondjammer cruisers- they care about their fellow passengers, even though we had all just met. There's no lines for a buffet, no lines for touring, no lines for anything. Our cruise started by the captain saying- Ok, it's your cruise-- here are some choices, what would you like to do. We could have stayed for the jump up (a live band and dance at the marina) or start sailing-- you don't get that on a mega line. Because the weather was great, we had a few other choicess along the way. The crew was fabulous. The steward, Bolo, was the most cheerful person I have ever met - he was also on our Sagitta cruise last year (the second Island Windjammer ship). We stayed in Cabin 3- one of the standard cabins. There is not much room for storage, but then you don't have to bring much...two pair of shorts, bathing suit and maybe a sundress or Hawaiin shirt. If you pack in a dufflebag, life is easier. The really big treat with Diamant is that it really is a sailing vessel! Sail...beach...sand...snorkel...small group...great crew..... What more do you need? Read Less

My husband and I went on a similar cruise 20 years ago for our honeymoon and finally got around to making a similar trip to celebrate our anniversary. We flew from Southern California with our good friends to celebrate our anniversaries in hopes it would be an amazing and memorable vacation. Needless to say, it was even better than we remembered! From day 1, the crew consisting of Simon, the Captain and the entire crew, Troy(Steelo), Aubrey(King), Stephen, George & Brey were there to ensure we all had the best time possible. They did everything to make sure we were safe and didn't have a need for anything. After a few days, they started to show us their fun side and start to dance to "Knee Deep" while the sails went up or just joke around. In addition, Crystal who usually works behind the scenes, was able to partake in this cruise and we are sure happy she did! She had such an amazing personality and was always ready to do the happy dance(or the thumb dance thanks to our Aussie mates)! She was our Julie from the Love Boat, starting with chats over morning coffee, coordinating tours or events, or just partaking in a good game of Farkel! She was definitely the instigator of fun! We had a small group but made friends quickly...we became somewhat of a family during the trip as we ate delicious meals together, went to the beach together, snorkeled together, bbq & bonfire together, and don't forget the Conga line on Happy Island & on the boat...Janti sure makes delicious pina coladas & Stephen sure makes great rum punch!!! The boat was beautiful and there was a nice interior dining room and also an outdoor dining area for beautiful days. We stayed in cabin 5 and it was very comfortable & quite spacious. They supplied snorkel gear, delicious food, alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. I would caution future travelers to bring anti-seasickness medication(like the patch which worked wonders) because the boat is only 100' and it can get rocking and rolling at times...It's always better to be safe than sorry. This time of year is the off season but we actually preferred it because it was a good mix of sun, rain, wind...just when you got too hot a rain cloud would come through briefly to cool things down...the storms were beautiful and picturesque... I also wanted to mention if you just wanted to sit around and relax there was plenty of opportunity for this too. If you don't want to be in the sun constantly there are plenty of shady places to enjoy. I have to say the actual days they sailed were unbelievable and the snorkeling was amazing...Many different types of fish and lots of them. The last night we had the Captain's dinner which was very special...the captain and each of the crew members thanked us for coming...Passenger Paul, who is a huge fan of Cricket along with Simon, found a paddle on the beach and we decorated it and gave it to the Captain for a thank you gift... We had to be up at 4:00 am for our very early flight, and we were touched by the members of the crew and Paul & Deb who were up to send us off...Paul and Deb even did the last thumb dance for us on the dock :-) We already miss them all :-( We highly recommend this cruise for people who are social, easy-going, and fun...We will be sharing our photos and memories with our co-passengers and look forward to another trip sometime soon. Thanks to all who made our anniversary vacation the best it could be! Russ & Heather Smeall August 2014 (PS Every time I woke up last night "Knee Deep" was running through my head...I think this confirms we had a wonderul and memorable trip...Thanks for the memories :-) Read Less
