Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Heritage (formerly Queen of the Mississippi)

Crew and staff were very friendly and helpful. Training was extremely poor and turnover in kitchen servers lost 40% over the trip with only 20% refilled. This made the hotel manager and his managers to fill in all over the ship. The hotel manager had to show the room help how to properly turn the room down@ night. The bathroom mirror was never cleaned during the 10 day trip. Our room was directly ...

I wanted to travel to upper Mississippi to 4 states I had not visited. The cruise was promoted as Fall Foliage on the Upper Mississippi. My group had been planning for this trip for over a year. The route was changed due to flooding, and we were officially notified AFTER the boat left St Louis port. Management knew the situation and could have notified us before we flew from NC to St Louis the ...

Wanted to do a river cruise, but didn't want to fly to Europe. Shopped for itineraries, and decided on the Mississippi. Shopped Cruise lines and decided on American Cruise Line. It was a really good package, including a pre-cruise hotel in St. Louis, all-inclusive cocktails and wine, highly rated cuisine, relatively new river boat, and an itinerary that sounded interesting. All-in-all, it ...

This was my second cruise with American Cruise Lines. I was a solo female traveler. I gave myself two days in downtown Pittsburgh and enjoyed myself very much. I stayed at the same hotel as the cruise line's designated night-before stay and appreciated that the hotel transition was smoothly done (Hampton Inn Downtown). We hit a snag the first day; we had to be bused down to Marietta, Ohio (three ...

Wonderful facilities and splendid service. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent air conditioning in hot and humid weather. Other passengers were a friendly and agreeable lot. The scenery was excellent with several days of just cruising without shore stops. The only hitch was an unavoidable upstream occurrence of heavy rains which caused the river level ...

Boat and service was very good at first. But did not follow the itinerary and had to disembark a day early and was bussed 4 hrs to Pittsburgh. The itinerary called for cruising at night but captain would not. If they won’t follow the basic itinerary in ACL Cruise Guide then change it. Lost a full day aboard ship. Letter of complaint was not responded to. Sad. We did very much enjoyed the ...

On July 7th this year, my wife and I boarded the American Cruise Line Queen of the Mississippi for what we thought was going to be a wonderful and relaxing Ohio River cruise experience as promise by the information advertised on the latest sales catalog and expecting a nice relaxing and adventurous cruise. Unfortunately, this cruise was the cruise from HELL. My wife and I are seasoned cruisers ...

Everything was perfect from start to finish. All activities started when they were supposed to. Meal options were varied and very delicious. Staff went above and beyond to ensure satisfaction. Everyone had a great smile and a happy greeting when you passed by. They say Disney is the 'happiest place on earth' but the staff on this cruise rivals them. The stateroom (category AAL) was clean ...

This was a brand new vessel that was sailing from New Orleans to Red Wing, Minnesota. We were interested in the shore excursions of which 3 did not take place. Our cabin was missing furniture, closet hangers, the thermostat did not work and only blew hot air. Engineering could not fix it. The room appeared never to have been cleaned and the bathroom faucet was very loose. We asked ...

Wonderful Way to See the Mississippi River

First U.S. river cruise and this was absolutely delightful. The staterooms and the entire boat was furnished in antique furniture combined with modern appointments. The bathrooms are full hotel size and the staterooms are larger than all but suites on ocean cruises. Al all-american crew were friendly from the top to the bottom. Everyone pulled double duty on this, the largest paddle-wheeler ...
