Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Carnival Splendor

End of year cruise to beautiful South Pacific. Mixed bag of thoughts for this ship. Pros; Embarkation & disembarkation was very good, 130pm & 8am respectively. Excursions to Isle of Pines were very expensive, $130 to Marine Reserve. Decor throughout ship was very good although the low ceiling give a closed in feel. Dining in Black Pearl My Time was done efficiently by Maitre D, ...

Our group consisted of an 82 yo, 60 yo, 56 yo, and 2 x 14 yo. We had 2 cabins. Embarkation was straight forward with no problems. Muster was a shambles. Our 2 cabins were split into different areas (was told families would be kept together) and could not see or hear the instructions clearly. The area had been painted and it wasn't dry so we all had big sticky grey paint clumps on our shoes. The ...

Beware of complimentary room upgrades

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Caribbean Princess

Great itinerary. However if you receive a complimentary room upgrade please do yourself a favour and do research on where exactly they want to put you. We had our vacation ruined by loud chair shuffling, carts slamming and doors opening all night long every night. Other than that, the cruise was good, the food and the service were top notch. The itinerary was great too however Grand ...

Partial transit of Panama Canal

My husband and I wanted to see the Panama Canal. Overall the trip was satisfactory. The staff were wonderful. My only objection was that some of the ports were not much to visit unless you were going on a tour. We found that many of the tours were too expensive. The best port was Cartagena, Columbia. It had a small park with exotic birds and a free shuttle. I wanted to go on this cruise ...

choose this one as it suited our budget, we could pay it off through flight centre and the dates worked for us. Being our 1st cruise we were extremely excited. My husband loved it, myself was a little disappointed. 1. on arrival on ship and sitting in the Lido area noticed the large windows were absolutely filthy, so looking outside to the blue waters was annoying. 2. Stage shows very ...

It is the arrangements that make this cruise horrible

So, this cruise was highly recommended by our travel agent and so we listened and booked it. So right from the get-go after final payment we received the airline reservations for a flight out of LAX that would not arrive until 10:30PM in Papeete and then they would transfer you to the ship. I am saying why? So, we'll board at Midnight? Yes. Well there goes your boarding experience and no dinner ...

South Pacific and New Caledonia

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Ruby Princess

Made for an inexpensive front for a back to back. Upon arrival at pier found staff to be rude and demanding when I requested to carry my bag onboard with me. LACK OF SINGLES ACTIVITIES! The first single get together was nonexistent as no cruise activity staff bothered to show up. All ports were easy to explore without spending any money for shore excursions. The food was good but ...

We chose this cruise as I had never done the South Pacific before. Embarkation was good and as we are Platinum card holders we were able to board at 11 AM which was great. The cabin was not available till 1 PM. Luggage was at our cabin by then. We first stopped off at Noumea. As it was a Sunday all the shops were closed. We caught a free shuttle to the centre of town as we docked in a container ...

Felt like second-class citizens

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Emerald Princess

Our 20th cruise with Princess, 20 days on the Crown in January/Feburary 2019, was one of the three best we’ve taken with this line, thanks to the creative activity and entertainment options on board. (You can read my review here on CC). Our 21st Princess cruise, through the Panama Canal December 3-18, was, on board at least, pretty much the worst. We felt like second-class citizens because of the ...
