We chose this cruise along with a trip to India. The ship is very tired and needs total refurbishment. The hot food in the buffet was inedible, cold food acceptable. The restaurants were good with a good choice of menus. The entertainment was awful and it was very evident that the ships company were tired and lacked enthusiasm. There was a dreadful smell of sewage on the ship which was so bad we could not sit on our balcony. This ship is not good and certainly not the luxury experience we expected. The only saving grace was the staff who were exceptional and did their upmost to help you. We would never go on this ship again, in fact we are not sure if we would use P & O cruises again. It is a shame as we have been on P & O before and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The standards are slipping and it was certainly not luxury. Read Less

Price/smaller ship/traditional ship (2000 passengers?) The ship is traditional older class and embarks on a world cruise in Southampton UK once a year in January .Special deals are offered to fill some legs of the journey at reduced prices perhaps to sell the cabins and ours was Singapore to Fremantle section ...Last year we did Darwin to Hong Kong I can't believe how much the service and offerings such as restaurant varieties offerings and standard and general demeanor of staff has declined in just under 12 months since our last trip .Most of the staff including wait staff were very apathetic and had a "attitude"to dealing with any issues that arose and it certainly reflected(perhaps they were getting tired since commencing the journey of world cruise) There was talk on board that P&O are discontinuing the world cruise segment of this ships itinerary from now . Please be fully aware that a great deal of passengers due to age and physical conditions would be perhaps having their final holidays/cruise and many are quite infirm or lack a good deal of mobility .(Walking aids/zimmer frames and wheel chairs abound ) If you are looking for a fun /vibrant/exciting cruise holiday or ship then the Aurora is not it. The ship although once grand is very tired after 17years and very dated decor such as furnishings and carpets etc The balcony cabin my wife and i had was adequate although very dull and dated in furnishings and appearance . I was fully aware of the limitations and age of ship when booking after last year ,however my major concern was how much it has gone downhill in standards and service since then . In my opinion it is time for the Aurora to be retired from service due to age and condition Based on my experiences on this trip i would not be booking any future cruises with P&O as the competition certainly do it a lot better with more modern offerings Read Less

Left the Quantum of the Seas last night in Shanghai. The cruise overall was disappointing but disembarkation was awful. We arrived many hours late because of fog-- no one's fault-- but how it was handled was dreadful. There was no communication. We had the air-sea package and missed our flight with the delay and were told we would be put up in a hotel overnight. after three inquiries of various staff I was told we would be met after we cleared customs and given direction. There was a massive throng of people in the terminal. We inquired of multiple employees of RC until we finally found one who knew. It was 2.5 hours standing and being pushed and shoved and having my feet stepped on until we got on the bus for our assigned hotel. We were then told RC would only pay for a room with 2 twin beds and 2 breakfasts and we are a party of three. We were also told we would have to take a cab to the airport , and I just found out by accident from overhearing another passenger's conversation that a bus is being sent by RC to fetch us at noon. The above experience dominates my impression of the cruise at this time, but here are few few other quibbles. No shampoo, conditioner, or bath or hand soap were in the bathroom when we arrived and were never replaced unless we asked. The same for laundry bag and request form.restaurant orders wre repeatedly gotten wrong. The worst restaurant was Silk, which looked and sounded so inviting on the website. Sorry to go on so, but this was my 5th criise, including one on RC to Alaska, and I enjoyed the others much more. Read Less

So much to dislike, I don't know where to start. Embarkation took 2 1/2 hours and then we arrived in our suite to find another passenger's bags and clothes in the wardrobe. My bag could not be located and finally we found it in the held luggage room some 5 hours later. Nobody could tell us why. Our suite had dirty greasy fingerprints over the glass and furniture, so poorly cleaned. The service in the dynamic dining restaurants was poor and after being encouraged to buy bottles of wine on the first night to get the discount, we found out the discount was a paltry $1. Then each night the staff went through the same routine of trying to find our wine, usually after dinner was over and then not even chilled. The shopping was woeful, no general store so couldn't even buy toothpaste. Everything I chose in the small makeup store was out of stock. However if you wanted to buy cartons of cigarettes and watches there were plenty to choose from. The ship was disorganized and the access wrist band didn't even work half the time. Staff at times seemed disgruntled at the so called "smart ship" So much hype about the robot bar tenders and most of the time they sat there idle. The staff serving breakfast in the Coastal Kitchen were friendly and attentive (the only highlight) but even then they never remembered our name even though we are there every day. The service does not come close to that offered on Celebrity and Princess. The 3 1/2 hour disembarkation process was disgusting. Never again will we sail with RCI. Quantum of the seas promised so much but delivered so little. Read Less
