Never Again

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Diamond Princess

This was our first cruise ever and we had expectations of a great time. We could not have been more disappointed and definitely will not cruise again on any cruise line after this experience. For a cruise that only had 2 ports in 12 days, the activities were uninteresting and repetitive. There is only so much towel folding one can take. We were also expecting a high standard of night time ...

We are relatively new to cruising with this being our 4th cruise. After being told how wonderful Princess is by experienced cruisers on previous voyages, and reading reviews that were complimentary in the main, we booked this 12 day cruise home to Sydney from Singapore as a Princess sampler. We understood Diamond had just completed a refurb in 2014 and were looking forward to a newish ship ...

19 nights Singapore to Sydney on the Diamond Princess

On approaching the dock the sheer size of the ship was impressive. Boarding went smoothly as we were late and the bulk of people had been processed. The interior of the ship was equally as impressive as the size. we had 2 cabins side by side, one disabled. Both were functional, and the cabin staff were just incredible, always happy, smiling and asking if there was think more we needed. The staff ...

First Time Experience on Diamond Princess

Boarding in Singapore was smoothly handled and it did not take long for our luggage to arrive at our cabin. Dining: This was our first experience of Anytime Dining and it took a few visits to the different dining rooms to finally settle on the Savoy with a wait team who were extremely friendly and helpful. From then on the Head Waiter kept us a reserved table. Food was fine but the ...

This was, principally a repositioning cruise and as such, sea days outnumbered port visits by 3:1. Embarkation at Singapore was one of the best that we have experienced within our 15 cruise career. Transfer from Singapore centre hotel to Stateroom C509 was just 30 minutes. The cabin was adequate and the balcony enormous. Great choice of TV channels kept us entertained while we unpacked. So far, so ...

A Very Smooth Sail

My husband and I sailed from Singapore to Sydney end of October and it was the smoothest trip we have had. We had the automatic room tipping removed as soon as we boarded, but there was a 15% beverage gratuity automatically added to every purchase. Princess would not remove this, if it has to be paid include it in the pricing not as an addition. The Diamond is the largest of the Princess ships we ...

Fabulous cruise apart from the entertainment!

We sailed from Singapore to Sydney on the beautiful Diamond Princess. Boarding was so efficient and easy and our luggage was delivered to our Mini Suite in no time at all. We booked a mini suite as it was a long cruise but really didn't need to, a balcony would have been sufficient. We spent so little time in the cabin that we didn't need the extra room and the bath took so long to fill that we ...

We embarked on our Singapore to Sydney cruise very smoothly and were impressed by our cabin. C103, with its in port only balcony . We found there was lots to do during the day and evening, although I would have liked more classical music concerts (there was one and it was excellent). We were disappointed with the night club. DJ Mikey has no idea how to get a party going and his "Abba Night" ...

Part two - Sydney to Auckland

Following on from my earlier review, this sector was all English speaking and a lot of the Australians had left at Sydney, including our wonderful cruise buddies we'd met on an earlier cruise. There is no point in describing the stops, but we cannot pass without mentioning the fantastic "Red Decker" bus driver in Hobart. What a fantastic commentary and a great sound system. The driver (Mark) ...

Singapore to Sidney

The main reason for booking this cruise was that several Australian friends we met on the Dawn Princess were also doing Singapore to Sydney, so we decided to join them. Good choice and lots of fun and laughter, especially at meal times and trivia. Needless to say, we had a great time overall, but from a purely personal perspective, my cruise was totally ruined by the inconsiderate heavy ...
