The whole time we were on board we were bombarded with the benefits of using Royal Caribbean’s excursions. We were ‘Blackmailed’ into using their excursions by being told we could not get off the boat in time to see the Seoulunless we used heir transport which was proven to be wrong once we docked, some people even cancelled pre-booked trips on the strength of what we were told. It cost 65$ each ...

MEGA ships are too large

The ship is too big. I have sailed about 26 times on Celebrity and 3 times on Royal Caribbean. It took us WAY too long to embark. It was unorganized and mismanaged. We have a balcony cabin. First, we always have room service for breakfast. Now they will charge $8, so I guess we have to get dressed, etc. and go to breakfast rather than relaxing in our cabin if you want anything more ...

Big Ship, Crowded at Times

Grabbed this cruise as it was being offered at bargain prices. It is a huge ship, providing lots of entertainment and dining choices, but some of these venues (esp the buffet restaurant, Windjammers) became very crowded and noisy.Unlike many other ships we've been on, it was impossible to find a 'quiet corner', other than our cabin balcony. The cabin was surprisingly spacious and well-furnished ...

Royal Caribbean have dropped their standards , we have sailed many times with them in the past and sadly this trip was not worth the money. After trying MSC last year I will be cruising with them again, much more for your money and no where near as many “extras” that have to be paid for. We were very disappointed at the change in the dining each evening. We were told we could only have my-time ...

Just returned from Singapore where we cruised on Ovation of the Seas - fantastic ship. I was a little apprehensive of cruising on such a big ship but was so pleasantly surprised that there weren't the queues and overcrowding that I was lead to believe were the lot of these super cruises. Don't let all the naysayers on the internet bring this ship down, it's fantastically clean and the crew ...

What a marvelous short cruise to exotic locations

My wife and I picked the Ovation of the Seas for these reasons: 1. Reputation: Despite of some negative comments by others, we have NEVER had a bad experience with any of our RCCL cruises. We are at Emerald Level and just enjoy the cruises. (Comparing RCCL to other super expensive luxury cruises is really not fair in my opinion, as I have seen other reviews do.) 2. The Service: Oh my we ...

5 day cruise ex Singapore April 2018, first appearance of the ship was great ,very large areas plenty of room Okay food , ticked all the box's. By day 2 you could feel the staff were over worked as the ship was quiet full , all restaurants that are free dinning had the same menu reason given was that the ship had far to many passengers therefore they decided to have the exact same menu, which was ...

I have sailed on this ship 3 times and her sister Quantam of the seas. But this time it was below average. On the past cruises each of the comp restaurants served different food, Silk was oriental food, American Icon Steak and ribs etc and Grande ever served Surf and Turf. NOT any more, all 4 places serve the same food. Now if you want lobster tail you pay $35. I think RC are trying to make you ...

Beautiful ship with a few issues

A family of 4, 2 Adults & 2 kids, we boarded in Singapore for a 14 night cruise to Sydney. The first 5 days between Singapore and Perth were defiantly the best leg of the journey. The weather was lovely and allowed us to explore the ship and enjoy the activities. There were many pros and cons for this cruise but the pros did out weigh the cons. Pros: * Our cabin (cat D1) was lovely and ...

Cruise director phoned it in

we wanted to experience the new best thing but were disappointed. the main dinning rooms lacked grandeur and a feeling of luxury. Public spaces were to small and poorly located. If you don't get there early don't bother. Schooner bar for example is the same size as smaller ships. The cruise director was a little flat and his staff lacked personality and engagement, seemed to want to get things ...
