Just hated the Infinity balcony cabin. - See cabin review
However, the bathroom was delightful and a really big shower. The cabin decor is pleasant and restful.
The food in the Ocean cafe was of a high standard and tasty. Thought the dining room food was a little safe and bland. However their steaks (readily available) are absolutely excellent.

I chose this cruise to go to Komodo Island.
On boarding I found my cabin (no one giving directions at all) upon entering what was supposed to be a wheelchair cabin I found I could not access the toliet as the beds blocked the way. The Carnival Splendor has been given a makeover and spruced up a bit so as to operate out of Australia.
A paint job and some new furniture cannot alter the fact that it has some really hideous decor. Attempts have been made to disguise some of it. The corridors and cabins are okay but the main areas where the designers (who must have been on drugs) were really let loose would require ripping ...

Have had previous cruises with carnival but unfortunately this one was well below the standard of those.Embarkation was undisciplined and chaotic, most would have been given a specific boarding time but it appeared no one took notice of it, board as soon as possible.No organisation of crowd.

It went wrong with the check in counter at the terminal of Marine Bay Cruise Terminal in Singapore.
Before that awful experience everything went smooth.
It was my wife’s Australian visa, although GRANTED, that caused the uproar.

One of the reasons we chose this cruise is that we had never been to Darwin. Well. we still haven't! The Exit deck was changed from Deck 1 (as was widely advertised) to deck 4, and the ramp provided was incredibly steep. We recently did a nineteen day cruise on this ship from Singapore. We found it to have consistently poor management in all food areas and at the bars. Many staff appeared unhappy which really affected our cruise. Didn’t find the Cruise Director approachable probably our worst of all our twenty plus cruises.

We were glad to find the ship had been refitted during it's 8 day lay-over in Singapore, before the relocation cruise to Sydney. However engine problems meant we were given a revised itinerary for the cruise on boarding. Many people were unhappy as they had made prior arrangements for some scheduled ports of call. The ship could only manage half speed.
