The good and the notso

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Nova

My wife had been itching to try a transatlantic cruise; I was intrigued by the description I read about the new ship; we both liked the Lisbon to New York itinerary. We previously sailed on Europa2 in May and enjoyed it immensely. We have also sailed on Sea Dream, Crystal, Viking Ocean and Oceania among others but never on Seabourne, Regent, or Azamara. I was expecting an upscale experience ...

A Good New Ship

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Nova

I chose this cruise because it crossed the Atlantic and Silversea is always a bit better quality than the competition. I had been on the Muse before but found it too small, so I thought had hoped this ship would be the perfect size. What I found was this ship is still too small for me. That’s a personal preference. That said, I never found it crowded. I often wondered where all the passengers ...

Nice new modern ship, with some growing pains (LONG review of TA 11/7-11/18/23)

Review of Silversea Silver Nova Transatlantic, 11/7-11/18/23 I typically cruise a mix of luxury lines, including Silversea (SS), sometimes with my husband or friends, sometimes solo. No line is perfect, each has pros and cons. I was happy to scout out the new Silver Nova on its Transatlantic (TA) voyage from Lisbon to NYC on the above dates, with only one port in between, (Ponta Delgada, San ...

Impressive for an older vessel

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Shadow

This was our first cruise with Silversea. Our overall impression was that the vessel, service and other offerings justified the premium price paid. Silver Shadow is an older cruise ship but it was in superb condition and very clean. With a passenger capacity of 360, its smaller size did not diminish its ability to cope with those few days when the weather turned a little rough. This was an ...

Excellent in all respects except internet which was very slow and unreliable.

Enjoyed the whole Silversea experience. But they MUST attend to the internet issue. Cabin was excellent so was service. Menu not changed very often which was disappointing. Ship had unexplained juddering at speeds above about 15 knots. No relationship with sea conditions. Maybe caused by the recent lengthening. Was a bit unpleasant at times. Crew were almost all very obliging and cheerful. I ...

Superior Staff, Great Food, Spacious Rooms, Limited Activities

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Muse

The ship is gorgeous, the staff is supreme, the food is wonderful. Our only criticism is regarding activities and entertainment. The highlight of every afternoon was Bingo and team Trivia. Not our idea of exciting and unique entertainment. There was also only a limited amount of board games on the ship. Throughout the 16 day cruise, food service was very slow, but the food quality was ...

This was our 26th Silversea Cruise, over 300 days, first time on the Muse. Since it was the Muse's maiden crossing, we considered it part of the "shakedown" process. Spent two nights in Southampton before sailing. Chilly, windy, rainy. Found a good pub/restaurant, the Duke of Wellington, best fishn'n'chips I've had. Visited Stonehenge, but it was very crowded, windy and rainy, so elected to ...

Loved the itinary. Saw many places I never been before. Service was great. The quality of service is amazing. Staff knew our names quickly and everyone greeted us when we were walking around the ship. Entertainment was great. The quality of the singers was outstanding and the magician was top notch. Onboard activities were fun. Disliked the need to make reservations for every meal. ...

Seeing the British Coast and Wonderful Canada!

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Muse

We chose this cruise because of: 1) the itinerary; and 2) the fact that it was a "bridge cruise." The itinerary was wonderful, but we felt some frustration at having only a "taste" of some of these wonderful places! We could have used 2 days in Waterford, Galway, Quebec, Charlottetown, Sydney, and a few other places. Unlike other cruises, the excursion guides did NOT have headset systems so they ...

Free wi fi is a gimmick

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Muse

User Avatar

Interesting ports of call but the free wifi is limited to one hour a day and the actual charges are horrendous. Their advertising is misleading as other Silverseas ships will offer full time wifi to frequent customers but not the Muse. Its an example of trying to increase profit at the expense of their customers, for a supposed all inclusive service. The new dining concept causes some ...
