We sailed transatlantic from lisbon to fort Lauderdale. The ship itself is wonderful being relatively new and impeccably maintained.
The suites, common areas restaurants and butler service were excellent overall. Their touted new dining area called SALT was underwhelming. We asked for 2 but got one cooking class which was quite good.
Problem areas were as follows:
Intermittent very slow ...
We have done multiple trans-Atlantic crossings on Holland American, Celebrity, and our all time favorite Crustal Cruises which has gone into bankruptcy. We were hoping our excellent travel agent was correct in suggesting Silversea as just what we wanted.
This was a Lisbon to Ft. Lauderdale route wit only stops in Funchal and St.Juan,, P.R. Weather starting out was a little dismal but quickly ...
A brand new ship. Cost cutting everywhere, from the plastic decor and "modern" drawerless cabin (really? there's no storage!) to the half a pattypan squash and two potato balls accompanying your dinner every single night from the same menu. They put it on fancy plates and call it luxury or nouvelle cuisine, but we can't help but call it cutting corners.
Flawed concepts ruin your experience, ...
We chose this particular cruise for several reasons. Firstly the Excitement of travel on a new ship. The route was of special interest since we have always wanted to do a transatlantic sail. Finally visiting Ireland was a top priority
It had been a number of years since we had sailed with Silversea and we wanted to try there service again. This cruise was our fourth with the company.
The ...
Having spent 28-days on a back to back cruise from Lisbon to Montreal, I am reflecting on a variety of mixed feelings about the Silver Muse and Silversea, in general. I tried to focus on the positive aspects of the cruise and the gratitude I feel for being able to afford to sail on Silversea for an extended period. However, there were many aspects of this cruise that just didn't meet the standard ...
This cruise on Silver Whisper was from Southampton to Montreal. I live in the UK near Southampton so I was really looking forward to the sail away. Traditionally Silversea used to have Sailaway parties on the pool deck so I was very disappointed on boarding to see that a lot of the deck was under repair (large tent covering one side of the pool deck, under which repairs took place). There was ...
Chose this cruise because of ports visited, seas were rough and we found out they were always rough on this cruise. We were not advised of this and we spent several days in our cabin sea sick. Not fun,big disappointment. We could not visit several ports because of rough seas. The Whisper is an older ship and frankly some areas of the ship our out dated and in need of repair. Example deck around ...
Simply put: Way over priced for the value received. The service was OUTSTANDING. The wait staff and bar staff were superior. The food was mediocre and too eclectic for our taste. Italian offerings were named right but over-presented. It is not a ship to trans-Atlantic on. Sea days were boring. The weather did not cooperate. We were disappointed that there was no "Plan B" for missing the ...
Appalling, disorganised boarding....if I want a quarter glass of paintstripper prosecco I will sail Celebrity. Front line staff were for the most part very good,, but little effort made to learn customer names. Our Butler was too good for this ship, and was a complete star....Very flexible and accommodating. Our Grand Suite had a very usable, cleverly thought layout, but was let down by a tired ...
