We booked the grand voyage for 70 days around Central and South America. Our 1st cruise with this company and likely our last. For 1/2 the money I wouldn’t bother writing this but for what they charge I feel compelled. The marketing and hype doesn’t match what was delivered.
The food isn’t very good on the whole. It’s monotonous, poorly conceived and executed. I could write a book about what ...
We chose SilverSea for our once in a lifetime 70 day grand tour of South America because of its reputation in the industry. I was excited about the SALT kitchen and lab, and I was disappointed. The idea behind the SALT experience is that they offer food and classes that highlight the cuisine of the area you’re cruising, and I really like that. The issue was with the execution of the cuisine, which ...
This was the maiden voyage for the Origin. I would recommend this type of cruise "expedition" to snorkelers who are comfortable in deep water with strong currents and for those who are agile enough to climb a moderate to difficult lava terrain.
When we embarked, there was not immediate food service and we were told to wait for our keys. This was not like other cruises. The dining room staff ...
The Muse is a beautiful new ship and it will not disappoint your expectations. But, near the last minute, SilverSea pulled one of the prized destinations in favor of another day at sea. Many of our fellow passengers referred to that as a "SilverSea bait and switch." We agreed with that and there was never an explanation as to why they pulled that. The food was generally better than we have ...
We chose this cruise when it was shortened from 18 to 12 days, ending in Lima rather than Valparaiso, which became an optional 5 day extension. We knew that there would be 5 days at sea, and assumed that those days would essentially be like staying at a 5 star hotel, and they were in some ways. There were 4 ports of call, but we will return to this. The cabin was beautifully appointed as was ...
We chose this cruise because of the total navigation of South America. Unfortunately, we also chose Silversea's newest and largest ship, the Silver Muse. As seasoned Silversea cruisers we have loved all of our previous cruises and all of Silversea's ships, but the Silver Muse is, to date, a litany of disappointments - none of which is down to the ship itself. which is lovely.
It seems to my ...
You would think this is the greatest boat in the world. I've got news for you--sail with Regent or Seabourn instead. The pre-cruise hotel night was outrageously priced. The transfer from the hotel to the Silver Muse was unnecessarily delayed by the bus company. The cruise was egregiously overpriced, not only the cruise fare itself but also the shore excursions. Beware of the add on charges for ...
We took Silversea’s 16-day Silver Shadow cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires, January 25, 2015. With the exceptions listed below, it was a very enjoyable trip to a little travelled, rural part of the world. Having taken an exceptional Seabourn Baltic cruise last year, we wanted to try Silversea. We’ll be returning to Seabourn.
Service in the three restaurants was quick, cheerful and courteous. ...
