We are in our mid 50s, have done 6 cruises with 5 carriers and this was the worse. Electric wheelchairs, walking frames, everywhere. The average age group is 70+. They love not leaving their rooms or the ship for 2 weeks so it suits them.
The ship is too small (550 People) so is limited to going into small destination ports only as it can’t cope with over 1.5mtr (4ft waves) in places like ...
I sailed on the silver spirit a few years ago when butlers wore white gloves, the food was excellent in all areas of the ship. A key ring light was beside your bed if you needed it in the dark. Nuts and smarties were replenished in the room as well if you wanted to nibble with a wine. What a disappointment this one was. The small things that made it 5 star were gone.. the food in the buffet was ...
We had a wonderful experience with Silversea cruising the Baltic before they were recently bought by Royal Carribean, but our recent experience was absolutely the WORST ever even on lines with fewer stars. Note that the Royal Carib is now the most profitable of the big cruise lines, and it appears this profit is being extracted by cost cutting and penurry.
We had looked forward to the "cruise ...
The SilverSea experience was poor, very poor.
Starting with the booking experience. The “consultant” provided no guidance, information or value. Matter of fact, I would have been better off if there was an online booking option.
As an example, we ended up booking a $500 transfer from Anchorage to Seward because we weren’t told about no cost SilverSea transport options.
Then the ...
We recently booked a last-minute trip on the Silver Muse from Seward to Vancouver. For context, we've sailed Seabourn 5 times, most recently last month on the Venture, as well as trips on Celebrity and once on Disney. We REALLY wanted to like Silversea to have a good alternative to Seabourn, but this was not a good experience.
Embarkation
- Process was a breeze, and we were actually the ...
We went on this Silversea cruise on the inside passage with my mom for her birthday. I've been on a number of cruises with other cruise lines, but it's been about 6 years since we last cruised. I had high expectations with Silversea because it was billed as a luxury cruise and expected more.
Overall, we had a great time. Ports were nice and the crew were very nice. It was nice being in a ...
We are disappointed in almost every respect. The food is probably the worst. Dining hours often do not correspond in any useful way with the excursion hours. The menu is beautifully written up, but the food poorly prepared. For example, we have twice been served fish so over cooked we have just about needed a knife to saw through it. Pastries meet a typical supermarket standard. Breakfast sausages ...
Doubtless, this is a comfortable and clean ship with excellent cabins ( apart from a hard mattress ) and has some very obliging crew, especially the butler and cleaner assigned to our suite.
Beyond that though: The number 1 complaint is the food, which is substandard at best. In 2 weeks we never once had a complete meal where we were satisfied. The meat was completely tasteless on every ...
We choose this cruise because it left Melbourne which suited us. we always loved Silversea‘s, and that was the Reason to cruise with them, sad to say this is the last cruise with them ,I can’t understand how people can give this cruise five stars. This has been the worst cruise we had with Silversea‘s ever. If you do the ships tour, it is beautiful. no doubt about it I have no trouble recommending ...
Chose this cruise as dates and itinerary fitted our schedule. Usually cruise with Regent Seven Seas. So this was the standard for comparison.
Transfer from airport and embarkation at Sydney was an omnishambles. No procedures, no information, no-one in charge, lack of communication, no instructions. Had to hunt for contact at airport. Took us to the 4 Seasons Hotel where no one was ...
