We are not seasoned cruisers, but have really enjoyed three previous small ship cruises with Windstar. We were expecting to go up a notch in opting for Silversea, but were sadly disappointed. The one saving grace, was that all the front-facing bar, cleaning, catering and waiting staff were all fantastic, friendly and welcoming.
However, that only demonstrated the contrast with the more senior ...
We booked this back-to-back (31 day) cruise over a year ago. The itinerary took us to ports we’d never been before - Madagascar, Mauritius, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai - and we’d had such a wonderful experience on the Moon a year ago that we were looking forward to a repeat, which of course did not happen. This was our 63rd cruise, but only our 3rd - and most likely our last - on Silversea. Our ...
Thought Silversea's was a high end cruise line. Veteran cruiser with many trips on Oceania, Princes, and many other lines. First: disappointing customer service. One of the reasons we selected this cruise was the itinarary, Auckland to Sydney with a stop at Philip Island to see penguins. Somewhere between booking and sailing they changed the itinarary and eliminated Pillip Island. No notice, ...
We are in our mid 50s, have done 6 cruises with 5 carriers and this was the worse. Electric wheelchairs, walking frames, everywhere. The average age group is 70+. They love not leaving their rooms or the ship for 2 weeks so it suits them.
The ship is too small (550 People) so is limited to going into small destination ports only as it can’t cope with over 1.5mtr (4ft waves) in places like ...
This was our 5th Silversea Cruise and we choose it for the Itinerary. First time on the Spirit, embarkation was good, cabin great as usual.
The problems started when because of Jet Lag we woke up at 3am, no internet or Tv working. This went on for 3 days. I even asked if we could move cabins and was asked" why is TV so important to you?" Wowzers, Wasnt expecting that..I said its not important ...
ship - good condition but poorly laid out.
food - excellent at times and lacking at others.
service - staff all have smiles and want to please but seem to lack direction and management.
daily schedule - sadly lacking; not enough activities during the day. all port lectures mysteriously scheduled for 6:30 at night interfering with cocktails and dinner. Obvious limited budget for speakers. ...
I sailed on the silver spirit a few years ago when butlers wore white gloves, the food was excellent in all areas of the ship. A key ring light was beside your bed if you needed it in the dark. Nuts and smarties were replenished in the room as well if you wanted to nibble with a wine. What a disappointment this one was. The small things that made it 5 star were gone.. the food in the buffet was ...
The door to door service and cruise itself was fine. The chosen ports were nice destinations. Also, the staff onboard is friendly and engaging. The food in the restaurants is ok, drinks at the bar are good, wine selection OK. entertainment is also fine. We didn’t see our butler very often.
Last minute changes on excursions was not very well organised and deviating information was given to ...
We had a wonderful experience with Silversea cruising the Baltic before they were recently bought by Royal Carribean, but our recent experience was absolutely the WORST ever even on lines with fewer stars. Note that the Royal Carib is now the most profitable of the big cruise lines, and it appears this profit is being extracted by cost cutting and penurry.
We had looked forward to the "cruise ...
My husband and I just returned from the Silver Whisper in Japan. A little background, we have over 25 cruises under our belts including 5 since Covid ended, this cruise being our 6th post-Covid. We have cruised Seabourn, Oceania, Viking, Azamara, and suites on Royal, NCL, and Celebrity as well as regular rooms on Princess and Royal.
The Great
The food quality and preparation were excellent ...
