This was one of my ‘bucket list’ trips. I am 75 yo, and really wanted to see the pyramids near Luxor and the UNESCO Petra Ruins. Alas, world politics interfered.
Arrived in Athens to Silvers assigned hotel. Perfectly adequate with a view of the Acropolis and the current Greek Legislature House.’
Had asked agent at Silver Sea multiple times for revamped itinerary. None was given. It had ...
We have never been on a cruise before but this itinerary seemed interesting with lots of exciting destinations. In addition we expected Silversea to deliver a high quality on board experience.
Silver Dawn is a beautiful ship. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, the food was mostly very good, (with one massive exception), the service and housekeeping were excellent. Unfortunately the ...
Ohh my word. We are loyal Crystal Cruiser and we booked Silver Seas while Crystal was in Bankruptcy hoping to find a replacement. What a mistake. This is a glorified Royal Caribbean Cruise. Terrible service, subpar food. The same menu every night in the main dining room with minor changes. Wine of the night that is the same every night. Buffet that is small and the exact same every night. ...
Would not cruise with them again. Food mediocre especially buffet lunch and two of the restaurants charged $60 and another $40 per person in the evening. Champagne served was Axel Yaz !!
On the third day was informed they had run out of Axel Yaz and they were trying to push Prosecco. It was an expensive cruise but in our opinion not worth the money. The suites were okay but nothing special. ...
This is not our first time on Silversea. As a matter of fact we have over 100 days. My last 2 cruises I have seen a steady decline in EVERYTHING. I think the writing is on the wall with Silversea.
For starters the food.
They CLAIM they have fine ding, excellent food and offer a gastronomic experience. The gas part is the only true part of that statement. At times, the food is ...
Chose this cruise because Silversea has in the past been good.
Sadly this cruise did not come anywhere near previous experiences.
Boarding very casual. No covid tests or temperature taken at port prior to boarding, according to literature from Silversea this would happen.
Suite very good. No covid precautions on board. Just hand sanitizers. No one was wearing masks.
First ...
Silversea has been blindly focused on cutting costs and this has severely impacted the quality of its offerings. This cost cutting has shown up it two areas. The first is the ship was grossly understaffed and the staff that were there were undertrained, inexperienced, and often not qualified for the positions they held. The wait staff, who were there, to the most part, did an outstanding job. ...
We chose this cruise as a 1 country short break to mitigate travel risks associated with Covid
Boarding was chaotic in Reykjavik as taxi drop off was at a crew reception area in a portacabin with no Rest rooms or refreshments
At 2pm a Silversea representative arrived with a nurse - documents were hurriedly collected including the required PCR results and the nurse checked for pyrexia. There ...
Chose this cruise because it circumnavigated Iceland and wanted a high-end cruise line. What I got was mediocre at best. Before boarding, the airport transfer brought us to the wrong place. Then we were brought to the correct location to have our temperatures checked, except after standing for 45 minutes in a room crowded with 100 people, no bathrooms, and no seating, we found out that the ...
Silver Dawn was a fine ship not even a year old, but no better than other high end cruise lines. The silver suite was roomy and well appointed. It came with a butler and talking to other guests we surmised ours was not very attentive or as accommodating as other butlers.
Much of the staff was in my opinion new as far as food service. They did not know how to pour wine and would forget what you ...
